Tharwatul Qalb The Strong Mind Volume 1: Taking Anxiety Apart Happily, once and for all.: Islamic Thinking meets Modern Medicine in a Powerful Life Changing Program

Rate this book
Foreword By Mufti "For a long time, people have been searching for work that is drawn from combining religious teachings and medicine. There are many such works but this one by Dr TK Harris takes it to a different level. I’ve known Dr TK Harris for a long while and have been following his work, integrating religion and mental health. Unfortunately, the topic of mental health has always been subject to misconceptions in the Muslim community and our wider society as well. Some even consider it a sign of weak faith. Kudos to Dr TK Harris, that stigma is changing. This latest work ‘The Strong Mind’ is a step in that direction. It’s critical for people to have an understanding of Islamic psychology and how to use it as a source of strength. Why are some people weakened by difficulty while others thrive on it and are strengthened by it? The book addresses this very well! In addition, the self-tests and exercises put together give the book a good, interactive element. We all have problems. Make an effort not to dwell on past events. Repeating in your mind negative experiences, asking “why me?” could end up with mental health suffering. Focus on the positives to offset your worries.I fully endorse this latest work and pray that the message will spread far and wide. Many will benefit from this book and I urge those who read it to share it with family, loved ones and friends. People are suffering in silence because mental health is not discussed. Let’s take the right steps to change this. Mufti Ismail MenkSeptember 2020"Over more than 200 pages packed with descriptions, examples, self tests, and exercises, Dr TK harris will help anyone of faith find a way to make their mind resilient and thrive, overcoming anxiety. This self directed interactice program is ideal for any reader who wants to use both scientific and spiritual methods to be more assertive, less conflicted, more decisive, and more content with life. Uses evidence and techniques from Islamic psychology and deep self awareness techniques, Sufi philosophy, CBT, and Behavioural approaches. Not a substitute for formal medical care. Please consult your doctor before commencing on a self directed program for the mind.

A very useful interactive book that you can go through and then go back to, in order to deal with all the issues you may be going through. Like a personal tracker.

I’ve certainly learnt a few techniques that I’ll be implementing going forwards.

Loads of spelling mistakes in the book but they don’t take away from the message or the good work of the author.
