Leftover government forces clash with survivors as the key to destroying the spores is up in the air, waiting for the victor to take it in book 5 of the SPORE series.

Tired of the usual post-apocalyptic tale? Welcome to your new addiction.

SPORE is a new, thrilling post-apocalyptic survival saga from #1 best-selling authors Mike Kraus and Kenny Soward.

A billion acres of food have been wiped off the map overnight.

A mysterious illness, somehow connected to America's agriculture collapse, tears through the country - and the world - like a hot knife through butter, killing millions as it spreads.

Pockets of survivors are forced to trek west, seeking shelter and food as they fight against the disease that lives in the air and soil around them.

As death and destruction spread and the country collapses in upon itself, those left behind will be forced to work together to survive, lest they be consumed by the spores.

Welcome to my little space out on the web. I'm Kenny Soward, and I'm an author, musician, and once IT guy. I write books in many sub-genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy, including post-apocalyptic, military science fiction, epic fantasy, and horror. I'm influenced by authors such as Stephen King, George R. R. Martin, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, Mark Lawrence, Dan Simmons, Robin Hobb, Robert McCammon, Larry Correia, and Mike Kraus.

I love all kinds of movies and shows from Battle Star Galactica (reboot) to the Walking Dead. There's nothing I won't try.

I grew up in Kentucky in a small suburb just south of Cincinnati, Ohio, listening to hard rock and playing outdoors. In those quiet 1970's streets, I jumped bikes, played Nerf football, and came away with many scars.

My grandfather and many of my uncles and cousins served in the United States Military, and my father was a Kentucky State Trooper. Their efforts taught me the meaning of sacrifice and gratitude. I've always had an avid curiosity about the world around me, and I hope my enthusiasm for life carries over into my stories, even the dark ones.

Torch - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The horrors just keep coming, but heroes of the hour like Kim and Bishop are going towards Memphis, to meet Bryant and Jessie, before they also head together to Little Rock and the Redfire research facility. Whom do they rescue along the way?

Meanwhile, Navajo leader Moe travels to Little Rock, Arkansas, hoping to secure some doses of a trial vaccine, to save as many of his people as possible. Some of them have been deliberately infected by a traitor, sent by the cultist leader, Carver, who wants a 'holy' war, so he can proclaim himself as a second Messiah.

The tension mounts and the horror continues, with different factions determined to be leaders and commanders, while scientists (helped by Kim), finally create a promising vaccine and set off back to Arizona by helicopter, with Moe and the others.

Can they make it?
Will the vaccine save enough people for the world to survive and recover?

This was a bit more substantial plot-wise than the previous book and there was a lot of advancement in the characters. There were some editing issues , but not anything distracting. I like a lot of these characters and like most readers, hope to see the bad guy get what is coming to him.

A great continuation

This book was a great continuation of this unique saga. It was a bit short, in my opinion, but still a good extension of the previous books.
***Spoiler alert***
This part is a spoiler. The authors completely misportrayed and disrespected the sacred plant medicine Ayahuasca. This medication is a religious sacrament for many in Central America and increasing numbers of people around the world. It has been in use in spiritual ceremonies for 2,000 years and has never harmed anyone. It cannot be used to brainwash people as the authors asserted. On the contrary, it is a recognized treatment for traumatic events. I feel the authors should have shown more respect in this regard and done sufficient research to know their characterization was both incorrect and uninformed.
