The Deadly Forest of Quarrendon

Rate this book
While one would avoid the trouble in the forest, it is the curse that the folk come to fear the most. The disease of the mind will do its best to bring out the worst in its victims. It preys on the weak and feeds on their secret desires. Once it's taken hold of a fragile mind, it will quickly exploit any emotion, from lust to destruction.

The threat of the curse is not the only predator that lurks among the people. With eyes in every corner, Princess Atheena's powers hide in plain sight as she entices her subjects to make deals for their utter loyalty until their dying breath. Will Hadrian Zantorian stay quiet or will he warn his fellow companions that she is the Dark Queen of the forest and it would be wise not to trust her?

The Deadly forest of Quarrendon is a dark adult fantasy novel,I love dark fantasy and have been branching out more to this genre lately. So dark that it has mentions of rape, brutal murders, and mature sexual content.

At the beginning while reading it takes a while for the reader to grasp the story since some bizarre and unexplained situations occur, such as finding the girl in the forest with a dead body next to her, and then the mysterious interactions with Helena and Edith (I was unsure if they were a figment of Francis' imagination or real). This combined with the very fast pacing of the plot had me wanting answers. As I kept pushing through the story unfolds itself in a very captivating manner that had me curious to find out what exactly was the Dark Queen's purpose and what was the Grey's curse?

The story is very character driven, we meet a variety of characters with unique motivations. I found the character explanation at the start of the novel very helpful to keep track of all the names. One of my favorite scenes was Tybalt taking care of Millicent, I found it soothing and adorable. This is novel is definitely not for the faint of heart, I was heartbroken at times, it is deadly indeed!

Thank you to the author for providing me a copy for review!

The Deadly Forest of Quarrendon by R. P. Wild is an interesting read as it leads us to the kingdom ruled by Francis Grey. Unknown to most people is the curse inflicted upon the Greys and the upheaval it brings when King Francis ventures deep into the forest and finds Atheena. It all goes downhill from the moment he decides to make her his daughter and bring her back to the palace. If only he knew her for who she truly was.
As the story progressing at a rapid pace, it makes us more curious about what is about to follow. This book is only the first part of the series and I can’t wait for the next part to come out. With mystical places and supernatural characters, it takes you to another world.
The only drawback of the book was that the author introduced a bit too many characters which made it somewhat confusing in the starting parts but slowly and steadily you become familiar with the characters and become all too engrossed.
Overall, it was a great read and I hope all of you give it a read as well.

This is the type of story that keeps you coming back for more. There so many great characters with such different personalities. My favourite is Atheena, but all of them are fascinatingly written.

There is plenty of surprises that keep you guessing. The princess seems to have lots of dark secrets, you never know what she's going to do next.
If you enjoy reading about magic and curses, then I strongly suggest this book.

Spine-chilling Experience
Thrilling experience while reading this book was on topmost of my feelings and I for sure enjoyed the theme picked up by the author. The events narrated by the author in her book keeps its readers connected and on the edge of their chairs to know the end of the book. I liked the book and cannot wait to possess one in my bookshelf. I indeed appreciate the work of the author and would highly recommend this book to everyone!!!
I look more from the author!!!

4.5/5 ⭐

The Deadly Forest of Quarrendon is such an interesting book! This book makes me not want to put it down once I started reading.

I love the characters as well and their roles in the story. The flow of the story is fast paced and it makes me want to read slower for me to get to know the characters more. .

Can't wait to know what will happen on the next book!

This book is different from anything I've read before. The characters were really interesting, I enjoyed all the contrasting personalities. It was a little fast-paced for me personally but if you're into that sort of thing and love some dark magic then this will definitely be good for you :)

DNF around chapter 3.

I was super excited to get into this as the premise was very intriguing, however, I couldn’t get around the writing style unfortunately.

I am so close to the end of the book, I cannot put it down.
If you love fantasy then this book is definitely up your street. There lots of different creatures and plenty of drama.
Love scene and and tragic moments.
The best character for me is Haridan, we meet a variety of characters all different. I really enjoy the strange but exciting twist that unfold though the story.
