"There was no escape from this thing that was Tracey and Diesel."
This book made me very emotional.
I should have been expecting it because, well, it’s Melissa’s, but she blindsided me again. Note to self: not sorry at all. I can take all the emotions when I know there’s an HEA coming. And Ms. Foster never disappoints!

This feeling of family, of real friendship, of sticking up and showing up for one another, and loving unconditionally in Melissa's books never fail to amaze me. Or to make me yearn for it. Every. Single. Time.
Running on Diesel was no exception. There is so much love flowing through the pages it is sure to warm your heart.

"He wanted to stay in her light, to soak it in and become a part of it."
Diesel is growly and guarded. He doesn’t talk much, is imposing, and protective. He seems standoffish and keeps mostly to himself. He’s obviously all sorts of sexy, and a dirty talker to boot. And he’s protecting Tracey, while also getting on her nerves because she is her own woman.

Tracey’s a survivor, and she doesn’t take his shielding her easily. Once again, I love that the heroine is not a helpless woman. I love how feisty Tracey is, and how she gives as good as she gets. I love that she doesn’t let him off the hook, and that she doesn’t back down.

Wait, did I mention Diesel makes the best breakfasts, besides all the above? Yep, he does. He is totally book boyfriend material for me.

"What starts as a spark can lead to full-on combustion, and you’ll never be the same again."
At Whiskey Bro’s, he’s working as a bartender, and she’s waitressing. There is so much tension between the two of them from the get-go, and so much chemistry. It’s not a spark, it’s a freaking forest fire waiting to happen. It’s a wonder how they didn’t burn the bar down with it.

The pushing and pulling is constant, and it takes something happening to her to get them moving in the right direction: toward each other, of course.
Once they get it on, let me tell you, IT IS ON! It’s explosive. I think this is the sexiest couple I’ve read by Melissa so far.

"I hope you never stop looking at me like that."
More than physical, their connection is soul-deep. They both have baggage (don’t we all?), scars, and sadness in their past. They need each other more than they realize it.
They both need to allow themselves to find true happiness. To recognize what real love is.

"You are the peace I never knew I was missing."
Diesel has always felt the call of the open road because he’s been missing a home. Tracey has found a home in town, and friends, but her heart has been missing a piece. She is his home, and he is the piece she was missing. They can take on any road together.

Melissa Foster has knocked it out of the park again with Running On Diesel. The Whiskey series is my favorite series of hers, and one of my favorite all-time series. I absolutely loved it!

Thank you, Grey's Promotions, for my eARC copy of this book. This is my honest review.

What can I say that I haven't said before about Melissa Foster's Books? Not much but I'll say it again, They are AMAZING, ALL CONSUMING, UNPUTDOWNABLE, MUST READS, and of course they have the absolute best MC Alphas and the Sassiest Women you'll wish you were friends with, and this one was no different.

Diesel Black is a nomad but something has been keeping him in the small town of Peaceful Harbor for the past two years....and her name is Tracey Kline. Tracey and Diesel work together at the bar owned by the Dark Knights MC. When Tracey started working there she was skittish around Diesel but we didn't know why...now we do and I hate to say it but it wasn't unexpected because there was no other reason for her to be scared of him, but over time she came around and her attraction to him started to surface. But when the Growly bartender starts scaring off her customers she's had enough with his over-protectiveness and lets him have it and that's just the beginning.

I really enjoyed Tracey and Diesel together, they have great chemistry and they understand one another. Melissa did a great job with the buildup of this couple in previous books because I know I couldn't wait to get my hands on their book and I have a feeling I am not the only one that was anticipating their coupledom.

This story as with others in The Whiskey Series has a lot of depth to it, it's an emotional read but thankfully you will not be crying through the whole book like I did with THE AFTERMATH, but you will most likely need tissues at one point or another so keep them handy.

I listened to the audiobook version of Running on Diesel and have to say that Savannah Peachwood and Jacob Morgan did a wonderful job with bringing Tracey and Diesel to life.

I would recommend this read to anyone that enjoys Steamy Contemporary Romances, Workplace Romances, MC Romances, or New Adult Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

I didn't like it, personally. While I think this is well done in a lot of ways, I never clicked with the characters. There's also a lot that felt outdated and somewhat toxic about the relationship, including the fact that the heroine - for the last few years - has watched the hero take home women "a few times a week." So, he's been lusting over the heroine in private, but has been sleeping with other women the whole time. Very romantic. She, of course, has remained celibate. We discover this scenario pretty early on, and, I've gotta say, it did not endear either character to me.

This is also billed as a standalone, and it's definitely not. I often find that's the case with MF's work - I do like her writing style, but the books are SO interconnected that there's a whole town of characters in each book. Fans of the series will certainly enjoy this a lot more than those who are reading this as a standalone.

And, I suppose, that's why I'll keep this review brief. Fans of the series will probably enjoy this. I never got emotionally invested in the story (it's well written, so I tried), but I have to believe that those who have been following the series will already be excited for this couple. It's technically well done, emotional, and the story is a little different than the norm. It just wasn't for me. I appreciated receiving an early copy (and am voluntarily leaving a review), but I didn't love it.

I’m calling it. This is the absolute best series Melissa has written to date. I normally shy away from making bold statements such as this because with an author as talented as Melissa, I’ll probably be taking those words back in a year LOL But not this time. The Whiskeys have held court for over 5 years now and I just don’t think they can be dethroned. There, it’s out there. I said the words. Let’s move on.

Diesel & Tracey ... FIRE! Everything about them was fire. Their passion, friendship, growth, romance, just all of it *waves hands all around* was fire. From the moment these two were introduced in the world, they have been on fire. The level of anticipation I had for their story was staggering and when I finally got to sit down and read it, I devoured it like it was my last meal! I couldn’t read it fast enough! I like strong characters in my reading and Melissa delivered that and then some. Their journey wasn’t smooth, but it was real and realistically portrayed. It was humorous just as much as it was not so humorous. There were times my heart was breaking yet it was also hopeful.

Melissa Foster has always been an author I can trust my reading time to. I know I’ve said this often, but she writes with so much emotion that you don’t ever just read one of her stories, you experience it and isn’t that just the greatest feeling in the world? GAH, I just love her so much! *sigh* I wish I could read this all over again for the first time!

In case you haven't done the thing yet .... (get to it)

***AVAILABLE TODAY***YAY!

This is a biker book with heart.

It’s got muscles and tattoos, brotherhood, family, secrets, diaries, abuse, hurt, heartbreak, short plaid skirts, hobbits, boyfriend lists, and the most protective alpha biker man with a heart he gave to his mother and didn’t get back until he found his girl.

Diesel keeps his soft side locked up. He’s hardened by life until Tracey shows up needing someone to “look after her.” When the worst happens to her, Diesel stops watching from across the bar.

“These were protective urges, bigger and more powerful than anything he’s ever felt. These sensations made him want to bolt, and at the same time, they made him want to nail his fucking boots to the ground.”

She’s patient and kind and sweet but she had spice. A fire that she throws at Diesel and a sass he can’t resist.

“Why do you think you can tell me what to do all the time?”

And these two have the perfect mix of soul and heat, heart and fire. The emotional times are deep and meaningful and full of depth and when they get between the sheets (or on the bar) it is hot!

“‘...I am going to make you come so many times, you’ll forget how to walk. Unless you want to stop.’ It would kill him, but he’d gladly die for her.”

And the most meaningful line, the one that that means the most in the story of Diesel and Tracey.

“You know you can trust me with your secrets.”

Tracey telling him this and these two finally trusting enough to share their deepest darkest with each other is what ends up pulling this story together from one of a hot biker and a beautiful girl to something much more meaningful. It’s a story of family. Being broken and not just surviving but living with the hand you’ve been dealt by letting yourself be loved.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another Note: There are 7 other books in the series as well. They are all standalones but characters may cross over so do read in order if you like.

My god, I absolutely loved being with these two! Desmond has always been my favorite name, since well I first read it in a shakespearan novel. And well Desmond lived up to his name here in Running On Diesel (I'd love to be run by him hehe), and how charming, sweet, sexy and funny he was. God I miss and love that guy so much.

Tracey was the ultimate strong, fierce and fighting woman that I knew and love more than ever. Sure, she didn't exactly have a well-to-do life, but she makes the best of her situation and tries to find something better. That something/someone better is none other than McHot DieselMan, who wins her heart over time and tries to smooth her hard edges over the emotional bruises left by the people she thought loved her.

Together with strong chemistry, heart-melting emotional chemistry, and witty banter dialogue, this will be a couple you will keep rooting for, long after the pages finish.

This novel also made me quite eager to read the rest of the Whiskey lovin series, so I will soon jump there, as soon as I am done with my current read.

Until the next read,

“I know you have demons, and you don’t have to share them with me,” she said softly. “But don’t lock us in a dungeon with them. We’ll never survive. I had to trust you to let you touch me. Maybe you can try to trust me, and we can move past your demons together.”

First Impressions
Running on Diesel is the last book in the series and what a story this one turned out to be. I had such a blast with this one here. I wasn’t sure how this one could beat the previous books in the series but I will admit it might be my favorite of the series even more than Dixie’s story and I just adored her book. There was something so raw and vibrating about Diesel’s book. From the first few pages I was so wrapped up in this romance and the angst and the sexual tension that was built was palpable and felt so real. The bantering between Diesel and Tracey is some of the best that I have read in a LONG long while. I was so hooked on their engaging dialogue back and forth and seeing their relationship just build. Of course we have seen these two just dance around each other and I was so happy to get their story and see these both tortured souls find their happy ending. I can guarantee this story is one you won’t regret grabbing up.

He lifted her to her feet, and the truth came tumbling out. “You destroy me, baby girl.” “I don’t want to destroy you,” she said softly. “I want to make you whole.”

Summary
Tracey Kline has spent the last two years recovering from being in a long-term abusive relationship. She lost the only family she had, and found refuge in this small town and most especially among the Whiskey’s who took her in, gave her shelter and comfort, and a place to call home even if that meant putting up with brooding overprotective bodyguard in Diesel. At the time of recovering from her abusive relationship, she needed that steady protection but now Tracey is ready to spread her wings and Diesel is in the way of her finding her own love match. She wants to live her life and isn’t too happy with Diesel being so protective she can’t even garner a date. Diesel is a loner, and has been most of his life. While he has two families that he can call his own, his soul yearns for the road. But for the first time in his life, he is conflicted with what he should do here. He doesn’t know how to handle Tracey, he has this strong urge to protect her but also wants to see her fly. Tracey is the only woman who has ever seen the soul of Diesel but when the past comes back to both Tracey and Diesel, the solace they find in each other’s arms will bring them to accepting a beautiful love worth fighting for.

“Don’t beat yourself up for past mistakes. Keep your eyes on the road ahead.”

What I Loved
Running On Diesel was such an emotionally impactful story that won my heart so quickly. From the first chapter, I was so drawn into this story and I just wanted more and more of it. I couldn’t contain my excitement in the reading of this one here. I just wanted to see where this story would go. The depths of growth that we see in these characters was so overpowering at times and I just embraced that feelin’ because we see how much these two are meant for each other. I wasn’t sure where Melissa Foster would take the story, but *sigh* she delivered it like she always does. I can’t believe that I have been so remiss over the years is not taking advantage of her books. Because her writing just works for me in so many ways and I loved the journey she takes us on with this one here. Diesel was such a closed-off hero, he is so broody and a lone wolf, but seeing how Tracey gets under his skin and that he wants her even if he won’t admit it right away was delightful. Tracey was such a vibrant heroine and I fell in love with her so quickly. I loved seeing her growth and seeing her overcome her painful past and turn into a fierce fighter who was willing to do what it took to shape her own future. The romance that builds between Diesel and Tracey was fiery hot but had such balance to it once they worked out all that sexual tension kinks. There is a deeper understanding that has been growing between them and once they are solid in their relationship, that depth of their bond just builds into a crescendo. The family bonds that we see among the families here was delectable and just warms the heart. This is the type of story that will keep you up all night reading, with bring comfort and feels and splendid smexy times that is the icing on th cake. A true winner has been cultivated there.

When you made your way here after your mama died, you’d changed. You’d lost a big piece of yourself, and rightly so. Every time after that, when you’d ride into town, I’d pray you’d found peace. Then I’d see you, and that emptiness was still there. But when Tracey came into the bar, that spark in your eyes reappeared as big and bright as when you were younger, like magic.”

What I Struggled With
NOTHING ….it was PERFECTION!!

Overall View
Running On Diesel was a romance that personified all the delights that is guaranteed to satisfy any romance reader. It’s a story of sacrifice, fighting for what matters, strong familial ties, and finding home when it’s least expected. Be prepared to lose your heart to Diesel and Tracey. A PHENOMENAL READ WORTHY OF A SWOON

I love you, Tracey Kline, and I will love you until I’ve got no more breath to give.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Running on Diesel was one of  my most anticipated reads for this year and it did not disappoint. What's tough on the outside and mushy on the inside, or should I say whom? None other than Diesel Black, Melissa Foster's hottest hero to date.

I have been waiting with bated breath for Diesel and Tracey's story and it delivered all I expected and more. This story gave me all the feels. It elicited a variety of emotions throughout the journey in Diesel and Tracey's world. The story had the perfect balance of  sad, angry, heartbreaking and feel good moments.

Despite their pasts being mired in pain and hurt, they were both survivors. Tracy survived an abusive relationship while Diesel overcame the pain and anguish of his mother's death and betrayal of a friend. Despite the differences in their circumstances they helped each other to heal.

Diesel, rarely speaks, but will take action when necessary, which made him intimidating. Protective by nature, Diesel made it his duty to look out for Tracy.  She, however did not take kindly to his need to protect, which she made known in no uncertain terms. Not that it changed anything, which she came to appreciate when she became entangled in a dangerous situation. Diesel's reaction to this situations and his actions in the aftermath had me swooning.

The sexual tension brewing between them from the moment their introduction in the previous book was sharp enough to cut through glass. So it came as no surprise they burnt up the pages. I loved the ease with which they slipped into their relationship. Of course this was after all the back and forth and the snarky remarks.

Running on Diesel was a beautiful, passionate and heartwarming story. I quickly found myself invested in the characters and their story I couldn't put the book down. Like all the books in the series,  family and friendship played an integral role in the story. I loved how they rallied around Tracy after she got hurt in the situation mentioned earlier.

Conclusion/Recommendation

I had a wonderful time with this story.  Running on Diesel was a compelling and delightful read which warmed my heart and left me smiling at the end. Fans of the author and the Whiskeys need to get a copy of this book. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

What I Liked: I enjoyed reading this. The writing is good - it’s very readable and the descriptions are good. The two main characters, Tracey and Diesel, had good chemistry, and I thought the dynamic between them worked really well. There was a lot of sexual tension, particularly early on, and I liked his protectiveness and care over her. Also, it was nice that he
What I Didn’t: There was nothing I disliked.
Overall: This was a really gentle read. Apart from some grim bits in the first few chapters - - and some heavy backstory, the story itself is very simple and quite soft. None of this is a bad thing and I enjoyed that side of it. It was a nice read, and it passed the time well. But I won’t lie - ultimately, I haven’t really got any strong feelings about this book.
Would I Recommend It?: Yes, if you want a motorcycle romance with a bit of a grumpy/sunshine dynamic and some mild angst, but check the content warnings.
Would I Read Something By The Author Again?: Yes.

From the first chapter I was hooked, I loved Running on Diesel by Melissa Foster.

The storyline is beautifully written, emotional, heartfelt and I loved watching Desmond/Diesel and Tracey's relationship unfold.
I loved how protective and respectful Diesel was with the people he loves. He never once made me think he was ever going to make Tracey feel less than. They have amazing chemistry and they both made each other feel safe, secure, and be loved unconditionally.

This book will bring out the feels, I smiled, laughed, swooned and even shed a tear or two.
Diesel and Tracey are perfect for each other and I'm so happy to have read their love story.

Running on Diesel is a wonderful addition to The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor series and I highly recommend it.

After the last read I was sure that there is no way that some could top Tank but here comes Diesel coming in close second.

Everything about Traceys and Diesels relationship was filled with longing and trying to find happiness despite at times seemingly an impossible goal. But the love she had for him was so great that he was able to move forward with HEA in mind.

Chemistry was sizzling hot but at times he was so sweet that I felt my heart melt. Melissa Foster really knows how to write grumpy and broody men for us to love and Diesel was no exception.

But I’m crying and I don’t even have any bad thing to say

I was crying at 11pm finishing this book. Honestly I've read several of Melissa F's books and she never disappoints me. They always make me cry like a baby.
They really are way to cute and beautiful to even put into words.
Now both main characters were fully developed and full of personality which i love!
Diesel is the MC bounty hunter, but has put his life on a hold due to his loyalty to the Whiskeys (the family running the MC) and a promise he made to the family protecting a young girl.
Tracey is a woman who has fought for her life, and was alive to tell it. She was able to live a safe life near and surrounded by a badass group of people who will defend her to the end of the world.
Tracey and Diesel have been attracted to each other for 2 years, and pinned for each other but never made a move. Tracey didn't do anything only because he thought he was a womanizer and he didn't do anything about it because he was protecting his heart and he knew that Trace was a woman you settled with a he would never do that.

They both felt lose, and were burn by sadness and grieve yet they were both resilient and strong.
Diesel is this amazing, beautiful hunk of man. His heart is literally bigger than his body (they described him to be huge! LOL) and he would literally do anything and everything for Tracey.
And don't even get me started with Tracey, i fell for her even faster than I did for Diesel. She was so strong, she was stubborn in the best way and her heart was so warm and beautiful that she even complemented Diesel's.

They were written in the most amazing way. They were mature, non toxic characters that would literally be each other's rock and support. Even with his broodiness, and angst, he was the most amazing man I've read lately. He made her stronger and she made him vulnerable which was so cute to watch. He opened his heart to not only her, but his family and all because he learned how to love again.

Gotta love Melissa <3

Trope: Motorcycle club, protector, alpha male, Small town, Hate to love, opposites attract, reluctant hero.

Running on Diesel was the ninth book in The Whiskey’s: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor by Melissa Foster. It was one of many in her Love In Bloom series and does not have to be read in order.

Diesel Black was a loner - a nomad with the Dark Knights, not staying in one place for long. He was quiet, brooding and didn’t like to be touched but he was also loyal to his brotherhood and their causes.

Tracey Kline had run from an abusive relationship. She was cut off from her family and chose Peaceful Harbor to start over. She had come along way from when she first arrived and had quickly melded into the Whiskey’s as family.

I’ve taken a break from formal reviews for a while, but a couple quick thoughts: it was a heartfelt read and ultimately a story of finding your way within family - whether by blood or choice. Foster took us through some emotional times as the backstories were unraveled with a focus on new beginnings and life lessons.

Foster also introduced the Colorado Whiskey’s as a segue into the next spinoff series, Whiskey’s at Redemption Ranch, with the first book of the series, The Trouble with Whiskey.

Running on Diesel is book #8 of The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor contemporary romance series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but I feel that they are best read in order.

The is the story of Desmond ‘Diesel Black’, a nomadic member of the Dark Knights motorcycle club. The club is made up of keen bikers who help their communities. Diesel has been drawn to waitress Tracey Kline since he first met her, but she was running from an abusive relationship and needed space to rebuild her life.

Tracey has worked as a waitress at the Whiskey’s bar for two years. Recently customers have been scared from her tables by an over-attentive Diesel; she’s had enough of the caveman act from Diesel and she intends to tell him to back off, but does she really mean it? Why is he the man filling her dreams?

In a story where secrets are revealed and the past comes back to haunt Diesel, these two people form a bond and find lost families. It was great to see Diesel change from someone who needed the freedom of the open road to a man who wanted to put down family roots. I was also pleased to see how Tracey grew in confidence and came back fighting after a traumatic experience. I do enjoy the ethos of the Dark Knights and the Whiskey family is definitely one to fall in love with.

Fans of the series have seen Diesel and Tracey dance around each other for some time now. Diesel is growly and all up in Tracey's business. Tracey has come a long way from living at the women's shelter to taking control of her life and living to the best she is able.

Neither thought the other person was interested or right for them. That was until the kiss. Everything before and after never will look the same. The two of them together are seemingly oil and water but really they mix up to some potent sizzle once they get down to is.

I love the whole Whiskey clan. If you haven't started this series, you really need to. There are MC elements but this MC is a patron club. They do good deeds always. Yes, they have some muscle but they are more about family, friendship and keeping the community safe. I loved seeing all the Whiskey's on this one. Loved all the babies, loved the teasing and really loved to see how they embraced Diesel and one of their own. Just a fantastic romantic read!

I can't wait to read more in the Whiskey world!

I’m going to start this review by stating a few facts in no particular order. First, I’m a man and I’m not gay. Second, I read copious amounts of contemporary romance despite being a not gay male. Third, despite not normally being a fan of romances that feature big growly male leads who struggle to form complete sentences and who are all tatted up and full of body piercing, I can’t seem to get enough of Melissa Foster’s Dark Knights series. It started with Bones Whiskey and Sarah and I’ve been hooked ever since. Oh yeah, and I’m a big Melissa Foster fan who has probably read every Love in Bloom book she’s written. That said though I haven’t fanboyed over every book in her Love in Bloom universe. Most have gotten 4 or 5 stars from me but a few only earned 3 IMHO. Ironically I was less that blown away by the first book I read of hers, Lovers at Heart in her Bradens of Weston Co. series.
For whatever reason I find the cover to this story smoking hot. Could be the super-hot female cover model clearly trying to get into the big guys pants whose zipper is just about at her eye level? Just saying. Anyway, I absolutely loved this story. Melissa has been teasing us with Tracey and Diesel’s romance since Tracey first left the woman’s shelter after finding a job working as a waitress at the Whiskey Bros. biker bar and Diesel made keeping an eye on her his personal responsibility. At first the giant tattooed biker’s attention frightened the tiny and previously abused woman. Then for the last few books it angered her because his menacing scowl was scaring all the customers away from her tables ruining her tips. That’s where we are when this story begins. Now two years removed from her time in the women’s shelter Tracey has found some level of self-confidence. She has finally had enough of looking at empty tables in her section even on busy nights because Diesel has scared all her potential tippers into other waitresses sections. She calls Diesel into the kitchen where she lays him out for ruining her tips. Problem is as much as Diesel has aggravated her over the past two years with his presumed overprotectiveness, she’s still not sure whether she wants to strangle him or rip his clothes off.
As I’ve said early on I wasn’t a Diesel fan before this story because I enjoy male leads who can actually form words and display an emotion other than surly and pissed off. But Diesel won me over. Oh sure he had that common flaw among contemporary romance male protagonists, he was emotionally closed off and relationship averse. But he was still a very good guy. Like all the Dark Knights he went out of his way to help others and he had a real soft spot for kids. Being emotionally closed off Diesel fearing he’s developing real feelings for the hot little brunette he’s been eye fucking for almost two years, he’s thinking it’s time to move on. Because feelings are about the only thing that scares this hulk of a man.
When something happens to Tracey, Diesel comes to her rescue, tends her physical and emotional wounds and shows her a softer side that no one else has seen. But then being a stupid male romance lead he tries to undo the closeness he’d just begun to develop with Tracey confusing and infuriating her. Foster has a different story arc in most of her stories from what’s commonly found in contemporary romance. Often her characters get naked fairly early in her stories leaving me wondering now that it seems they’ve found their happily ever after what’s she going to do for the rest of the story? This book followed that same story arc. When Tracey so upset that on a date with a guy who would seem to be perfect for her (or any woman) she can only think about Diesel she seeks him out to vent her frustration with him on him. Which somehow results in them ending up in Diesel’s bed (where she remains for pretty much the rest of the story) having mind blowing sex. I have to say here that for a woman who had only been with one man (her abuser) and hadn’t had sex in at least a couple of years Tracey found her groove really quickly. These two really did the cover of this book justice with many super hot sex scenes. In the interest of wrapping this review up and not giving away the entire story I’ll say that the rest of the issues in this story were not really with Diesel and Tracey’s developing romance. This is a true love story as they both help each other deal with and overcome the emotional baggage from their past. There’s some twists and turns and you’d maybe better have a box of Kleenex handy for both sad and happy tears.
Great book Melissa. If Goodreads would allow it I’d give you ten stars instead of the five I’m limited to.

Running on Diesel is a battle of wills that refuses to back down on heart. Foster plays the senses with an emotional tale that takes breathtaking to a whole new level. It's been fun to watch Tracey find her voice even at the cost of exposing her heart. Diesel may be rough on the outside, but he's a marshmallow underneath his gruff exterior. It's a fight to the finish that will kick you in the soul while giving you a reason to smile.

4.5⭐

Diesel is AMAZING! I'm so into this growly, broody, and alpha biker. You just can't help but fall in love with him. Once you get past his hard shell, you'll see he is nothing but sweet and protective. I loved watching how he developed. I wouldn't say he changed because he's perfect the way he is. But something about Tracey just made him want to be better.

I loved what Tracey means to him. He was everything she needed and vice versa. She's this sassy and strong woman who's perfect for him. She challenges him and you'll feel the tension and chemistry between these two because of that. They helped each other heal and grow. I loved their story a lot!

Another fantastic read. Melissa Foster just keeps knocking them out of the ball park.
This book has plenty of angst, but there are some really funny lines in it. I loved the sassy way Tracey talks to Diesel, and some scenes with Tracey and her roommate, Izzy Ryder, had me in stitches.
As usual, all the feels. Plus we also get to meet up again with the Bradens from Pleasant Hill, and the Colorado Whiskeys.
Diesel may be growly but he has such empathy and compassion. You're gonna love this book.

I was waiting for this story for so long, watching the back and forth between Tracey and Desmond “Diesel”, a slow burn with a strong hint of sexual tension and intensity. It was about damn time!
It did not disappoint!!

Tracey had experienced abuse and had a long way before getting back to find that confidence and control of her life. The sassy woman was bringing back all together thanks to that great family and friends. Especially from the beasty of a man, protective with a big heart.

Diesel had been alone for a long time, a free man who never settled down. Taking the road whenever he felt the need to. For two years, he watched her like a hawk, that strong woman who endured a lot through life. A beautiful fighter who captured his heart without even trying.

I adored them. Diesel was the tall, dark, sexy and growling guy and Tracey was keeping on his toes, totally not settling for less. They had such great chemistry, sweet and hot. They were real and honest with each other, showing their vulnerability. The sparks… oh my!

It was a story with plenty of emotions, the importance of family and friends, the bonds they created and makes them feel like home, to overcome the obstacles in their way with the one they love. I couldn’t put it down and I was rooting for them from the beginning.

So much love for this story and series! All the freaking feels!!

This is the book we've been waiting on for a while now, Tracey and Diesel have been dancing around each other from the start. I really like that Tracey is a bit lippy to Diesel, he deserves it with his surly attitude. I get he's a bit closed off, but considering he wants Tracey you'd think he would be nicer. And yes I get that he is "protecting" Tracey, but he goes about it the wrong way.

I hated the event that changed things between them, even as I was kinda glad it happened. Tracey just needed a bit of an open door, to see the nice guy Diesel is, too bad it didn't last. I liked that Tracey wasn't going to let that stop her life and she accepted a date from the dreamy Dr., which seemed to spur Diesel to do something a bit reckless for him, which ruined Tracey's date. I loved how Tracey went to Diesel to read him the riot act and how that finally changed things between them for good.

From here I really liked how Tracey and Diesel got to know each other, how their mom's played a part in strengthening their relationship. Glad both of them had support as they learned things about those mom's, changing things. While Diesel's news rocked him to his core, I loved that Tracey was there for him, along with all of the Whiskey's. It just shows family can be made and family can be blood.

What a good read. When I started I knew I wouldn’t be able to put this down. I couldn’t stop reading Diesel and Tracey’s story.

Tracey came to the Whiskey’s after escaping an abused relationship. Now she’s a waitress at the bar and 2years later she is getting her life back to normal. If only she can escape the grumpy growly Diesel 😊

Desmond “Diesel” Black was a Nomad for the Dark Knights MC. He was an inherent protector. Always watching out for his mother as it was just the two of them, and also when she became sick, he wouldn’t let anyone watch her but him. And now helping the Dark Knights settling abused women he didn’t even need to have been asked to watch out for Tracey. And even though he was a loner there was something about her that made him want to stay. But his not the type for relationships no matter how much he wants to claim her as his own. Until the night she gets attacked and then all bets are off…

I loved the growly grumpy over protective Diesel. He was awesome, silent broody alpha male that once he made up his mind about something he was not backing down. Tracey was a sassy take charge kind of girl. When her life was turned upside down she didn’t just lay down, she got herself up and tried to get herself stronger. These two definitely had amazing chemistry and were perfect for each other. He was the silent one and knew how to ‘handle’ her and she was the sassy one and knew just how to get him to spill his dark secrets. Lots of twists and turns, secrets revealed but also a sweet happily ever after 😊 ❤❤ I hope there is more in this series ❤

***5 ‘Elvin Magic’ Stars***

This book made my heart all kinds of twitterpated and swoony!

Not, that I expected less, considering how much I love the Whiskeys/Dark Knights/Wickeds in general, but ever since first meeting Diesel I NEEDED more of him and then when it became clear that Tracey would be his...well, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on their book and I was not disappointed.

I laughed, I got teary eyed and sniffly, growly with frustration and melty. I mean it really was a smorgasbord of feels in every way possible.

Obviously, I adored Diesel and Tracey. It was hard not to love these two, and yes they both had their moments where eye rolling and growling in frustration happened (more with him than her), but they were such good people who were working through their own demons. They tripped every so often, but they picked themselves up and kept moving forward. They had huge hearts and loved those they called their own hard.

As for their journey to their HEA. All I can say was that it was a fun one to experience. The chemistry, the respect, the bantering and the smexy were all on point. Even when things went a little sideways, I had no doubt that they’d work it out and become stronger for it.

It’s hard not sounding like a broken record with how much I loved this book, but it really was an all around great read and addition to the series. Getting to catch up with the Whiskey’s and Dark Knights in Peaceful Harbor to meeting the Whiskey’s and Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch, the family love was strong in this one and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for both series!

Very disappointed… I did not like this one nearly as much as the other Whiskey books. So much of it was clearly just trying to set up the next series, despite the fact that it was completely unrelated to the plot. It dragged on and on at points. Plus the toxicity of Diesel having to rescue Tracey when she has worked so hard to prover herself as strong and capable. Plus Tracey set clear boundaries, and do you think our hero respected them? Hello no! And of course Tracey found this sooooo attractive. She didn’t seem like a demostic
There were a few redeeming parts, but the conflict felt kinda dumb and forced, and I wasn’t exactly rooting for the hero.

Running on Diesel is a story of second chances, healing, passion and an undeniable connection and understanding. Diesel and Tracey have you captivated within minutes and the tension, chemistry and anticipation radiates through the authors words. Their story is witty, sexy, heartfelt and emotional. You are drawn in by the feelings of love, protectiveness, family and happiness. Diesel may be growly but beneath it all beats the heart of a lion. Tracey is a character that gives you inspiration and holds your heart. A thoroughly beautiful story that stole my breath.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from the PR Agency in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Melissa for my copy of this book. I am a huge fan of Melissa’s work and I have been waiting for Tracey and Diesel’s book for quite a while.

If you have read Melissa’s previous books you will know Tracey’s background but if you haven’t Melissa explains everything in this book. Tracey has been through a hell of a journey to get to where she is now. Tracey is a sassy, strong, brave woman. She would probably disagree with me about being brave but she really is. Tracey is also fiercely loyal. She is an excellent friend and I would be honoured to be one of hers.

Diesel is the strong silent type. He is the sort of man that keeps things bottled up. He doesn’t want to burden anyone with his problems. He has felt like an outsider for many years. He has his walls up so high because he doesn’t want to be hurt again like he was in the past.

This book had Melissa’s usual dose of romance, humour and spice. Diesel is a romantic at heart even if he doesn’t show it in the usual ways.

It was lovely to see the whole Whiskey clan and how they are getting on. It was also really exciting to delve into the Colorado Whiskeys. I’m very excited to hear their stories.

Melissa has created a wonderful story here of love, strength and forgiveness that will really touch your heart.

*4 Stars*

ARC kindly received for an honest review.

I always enjoy coming into the world of the Whiskey family. I have been intrigued by Tracey and Diesel since they were introduced, and this was an interesting one to follow along with. I found that for the most part it was a nice an easy going story to read, and I did think it was going to get a bit draggy for a bit, but then it immediately picked back up.

I enjoyed getting to know Tracey and Diesel and see them interact and learn about each other. I liked how Tracey has been through a great many things but has come out strongly on the other side, and how she always gave Diesel a hard time instead of cowering constantly.

The end of the book was quite emotional and I was nearly crying at some parts. There was a nice surprise at the end and it was dealt with well, and I just enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading more about the Whiskey branch of the family at Redemption Ranch - I believe those stories are on the way.

Another great instalment from this world, and would recommend.

I love a good alpha hero protector and feisty heroine and Diesel and Tracey fit the bill.  It certainly doesn't hurt that Diesel is a big broody bounty hunter who growls and grunts his way into Tracey's tender heart. And, that cover? Yummy!

That tiny flick of a woman was going to be the death of him.

Desmond "Diesel" Black keeps his life and feelings close to his vest unless Tracey Kline is nearby. Her genuine kindness is something he is drawn to as well as everything else about her, but she drives him out of his mind when bikers come into the bar and flirt with her.  His job was to watch out for her in case her abusive ex comes back, but he made sure that would never happen. He has stayed longer than he expected and she has got her confidence back to be on her own. He wants to make her his, but she deserves better. Someone who is willing to stay and settle down. Diesel is a Nomad with the Dark Knights motorcycle club. The road is in his blood.

The man withholds words and emotions like he has a limited supply.

Tracey is fed up with the death stares Diesel keeps giving her paying customers. He's costing her the tips she needs. After asking him to back off, she is attacked by some men in the alleyway and Diesel is there to save her. He stays with her as she breaks down and shows a gentle side that moves her. He doesn't like people touching him, but he allows her to do so. She's seeing a whole new man who is genuine, kind to kids, and full of compassion.  But she heard he is leaving and it is messing with her heart.

Tracey and Diesel are definitely meant to be together. They are both reliable, trustworthy, and really authentic.  It's cliche but they say what they mean and mean what they say.  A match made in heaven. Watching Diesel come out of his hard shell is lovely. The way he talks about his mother and his help with kids is beautiful.  He is deserving of a good woman and Tracey is that.  She says the kindest things such as "You, Dezzie Black, are the very definition of a good man". Sigh!  Just lovely.  She can read this man like no other. And Tracey has become a strong, confident woman who owns her mistakes and reclaims her life.  I adored how Diesel showed Tracey his love by his actions and not necessarily his words.  There is a surprising and extremely happy ending to their story which I'll let you find out on your own.

What can I say about the Whiskey family other than I want to be a part of it?  Apparently, I need to go back to the beginning and meet all of these wonderful people who are gradually introduced throughout the book. They all love Diesel and Tracey as their own teasing them, supporting them, and giving them invaluable advice.

I highly recommend this lovely emotional romance filled with a close family, great friends, and a couple deserving of all the love and happiness they can get.

Thank you to Ms. Foster for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
