Mol thought she was done fighting. After the disappearance of the General and the discovery of the map that led to an unknown future, she wanted to leave the islands and her pocketknife behind. But with the Authority disbanded, the future of the Network weighs heavily on her injured shoulder, and she’s stuck navigating mind games, complex relationships, and the pieces of a broken system.

This story was an amazing sequel. You do have to read the first book to understand what’s going on but it is worth it. I learned so much more about the characters and the story developed so wonderfully. I loved how there were so many unexpected twists and turns. I was easily able to follow along with the plot and everything was beautifully written. I liked Julian and Luca’s growth in this story. There was a lot more on how they were characters. There is so much more to look forward to in the next book which should I believe be coming out soon. I loved this author’s writing style and ALL of her books are worth reading.

I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved this sequel! There were some unexpected twists and turns. I flew through it to find out where things would end up. Excited to see there is a third book coming out soon so we can read more about Mol’s adventures.

The past few months have been more challenging than Mol, Sebastian, Hope, Julian, Luca, and Nico anticipated. Sure, the iron fist rule of the Authority ceased to exist. But people on the islands are hesitant to change their lifestyles and habits without a public plan in place. Mol hates sitting idle, attending endless meetings with no action taken. Everyone agrees the best plan of action is to give power to the people. But establishing a democratic government is never easy and Mol soon learns there are more secrets to unravel, more enemies to defeat. Will she be ready for the rip current swirling menacingly below her feet, ready to pull her under?

Rip Current is a tantalizing dystopian adventure. It picks up right where New Wave (book 1) left off. Jennifer Ann Shore propels the reader into a riveting story with complex characters, plenty of twists and turns, intricate action scenes and more. The plot moves at a fast pace. What makes Rip Current so compelling, though, is Mol. She’s a wonderful character with a stark perspective. She gets herself into sticky situations and questions arise which I thought about long after I finished reading. Rip Current is perfect for Hunger Games readers, looking for their next fix. Honestly, I whipped through the pages because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment. Highly recommend!

Gifted Copy | Readers looking for a fast-paced political and dystopian YA novel with some romance will love Rip Current. Plus, if you are trying to read more indie authors this year, Shore is your author for both YA and adult fiction.

Rip Current is the second book in The Islands of Anarchy series, and yes, you should pick up New Wave (Book 1) before picking up its sequel.

I also could not think of a timelier book in regard to rethinking our democracy and political system. Mol, Sebastian, and her brothers must redesign the entire political system. Mol -- a fireball of ideas and kick-butt female lead — has a lot to battle, including her inner anger and mistrust. Mol just wants the world to be a better place -- for everyone.
