Jenny believed the remote cabin she rented was hers alone—until she stepped out of the shower to find a brawny man in her bedroom. No way was she taking on a roommate, especially a six-foot stud with a slow-fuse grin. Yet the brooding Logan had his charms, and his secrets. They'd be stuck together for only two weeks. Not long enough for him to seduce her…or melt her frozen heart.
Lisa Ann Verge was a PhD candidate in organic chemistry when she began writing emotionally-intense romances about hot men and dangerous women and, as Lisa Verge Higgins, penning life-affirming, critically acclaimed women’s fiction. Published worldwide in eighteen languages, Lisa has earned a Bean Pot and a RITA nomination and is the winner of three Golden Leaf trophies and five RT Book awards. When not writing, she hunts wild mushrooms, studies Turkish, and keeps tabs on the antics of her three wild-and-talented daughters.
This is pure romance between a smart accomplished woman and an equally smart accomplished man. Both characters are likable and the story is fun to read and interesting. It was a quick read, which is good because I didn’t want to put it down.
Lisa Ann Verge is known for charming hunks of male flesh that ladies turn into melting puddles of passion when they get within range, no matter the defense system they have built around themselves. Alone With You is no exception to this scenario. From the opening gambit, our strapping but wounded of spirit doctor (aka the charming male) sends the bombshell unsuspecting lady into a tizzy of visceral reactions as she first lays eyes on his smoldering form standing in the door of HER bedroom as she steps from the shower… GREAT opening. Not necessarily a great way to meet a guy, LOL, but Lisa had me hook-line-and-sinker for the rest of the book from that opening of chapter one. Lisa is one that doesn’t settle for shallow romance novels. Her stories are filled with a depth of character to her protagonists. She takes the time to drill them down so that you feel like you lived next door to them for years and have had traded postcards from the far corners of the earth over the years. You feel their pain, you giggle at their foibles, and all but reach into the page to pull them back from their worst mistakes. In short, Lisa allows her characters to be so human, you can feel their breath fluttering the pages of the book and steaming your glasses as your nose inches closer and closer to the action. Add to this her scientific knowledge, there is accuracy and living convincing detail in her storylines that carry the story forward with the interesting detail that keeps this person on the edge of her seat. I can see, feel, and smell the wilderness scenes that a good portion of this book takes place in. Only someone who has spent a significant time out there and knows and understands the fauna and flora and the science of it could weave it into the storyline like a second skin. This book has been worth the wait to get back into reading a story by Lisa Ann Verge. I look forward to the next in her series. She is getting better with time and life, if that is possible.
Logan is hiding out in his friend's cabin after a loss of confidence in his career. He is surprised when Jenny shows up to also borrow the cabin for two weeks in investigate a rare flower.
Loved this. Logan expecting the cabin his retreat from the world for a bit was occupied by a woman named zJenny seems his friend John had made a mistake and loaned it out to the both of them by mistake. Jenny and Logan agreed for both of them to stay but away from each other. Jenny a scientist was there to collect samples and do research in the lab under the cabin the last thing she wanted was a room mate even a hot looking one. Logan took Jenny to the spot in the park where she needed the samples from he just wanted to spend time with her but then Jenny got stung by a bee luckily she was with him since he was a doctor just not a practising one after what happened in the rainforest they where his demons. No matter how much they tried the sparks between them where to strong to resist they agreed to spend the next week together but no emotions involved which both of them failed at. Jenny was stung by another bee while out in the park and was going into shock Logan had to act quick he needed an air ambulance his car was too far away. Jenny was recovering but Logan wasn’t around when he rang her he told the that they needed to talk she thought it would be a break up talk but was surprised and so happy when it wasn’t and what Logan had done about getting a job back in Medicine after treating Jenny she helped him to fight his demons with out knowing it.
Simply wonderful, Alone With You pulled out all the stops. Two people brought together by a mix up, maybe more like fate, find themselves sharing a cabin. Logan, to try to get away from the terrible images his mind could not erase, and Jenny to gather data, do her research and stay the strong, lonely person she was... Yes she knew they called her the "Ice Queen."
What happens is totally unexpected as the attraction sizzles on the pages, not to be denied. But is it real or just a brief interlude in time?
Logan won my heart as the wounded hero deep down and Jenny, with her wounds from growing up. I could feel their emotions and only wish they could find their way together.
Lisa is one of my very favorite authors of historical romance, but I have to say, this story won my heart and I am looking forward to the rest of the series!
A enthralling romance about two hurting individuals caught in a cabin for two weeks by accident. Some very hot scenes, but a good story line. You'll like both the woman and man. I hd Hes runw purring it down,
It's been awhile since I've read this author. This started out slow for me and it took me sometime to feel a connection. Our h starts out all business and no emotion. They go for pizza and there must have been something in the sauce, because BAM they are in each others pants. Heat level lovemaking, outside of marriage 4 out of 5 and described multiple times.
The story improves as we find out the back stories of each of them. There is some suspense near the end and I liked the epilogue a few months in the future. I was confused how the H got aa banged up rib. I didn't see where it was explained.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, simple story line, little on romance and spice. (ljb)
Jen wanted to do some research, Logan wanted to get away. A cabin in the woods suited them both. Neither knew the other would be there. It does not take long for them to decide on a week or two of just sex with no attachment later. Jen gets stung and needs to be flown to the hospital. Is this the end of their relationship? Darn good read, highly recommend this book!
Wow... I was so bored. I don't remember where I saw this book in a recommendation where the heroine is the grumpy and the hero is the sunshine (which is what interested me in the first place). This was definitely not it... there was some of those elements but it was just so boring. A lot of just internal monologue, no action, and the end just made me roll my eyes. I basically skimmed through it and didn't really care.
Alone with you is a sexy, stuck-together, enemies-to-lovers romance, the first book in the Cabin Fever Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, with a guaranteed happily-ever-after. Enjoy!
Jenny is a closed off emotional person who uses work to escape..Dr. McAllister struggled after losing a patient. Accidental double booking brought them together and Cupid did the rest.
