This was a fun book to read. It is very different from the other books from the World of Melaranda. This book follows the first three leaders of the Order of Maget. It is a much darker look into this world and I LOVE it! Kinsley is a seriously dark wizard and the risks he takes to ensure his own survival are fascinating. The formation of the Order is interesting to look at as well. The machevallian way Richard works the king is such a fun thing to see. I know it's twisted but still it's fun to see this happen and how both the kings Richard works with fall for his manipulations. I'm looking forward to seeing the next installment. I do wonder if the series will bring us right up to the time in Melaranda where we first meet the Twins in Children of the Sun and Moon. I hope so!
