Okay guys, so I need you to go with me on this one. It’s a little weird, but you know I love to get that crazy idea and see if I can make it work. I don’t want to say too much about it because I’d like you to discover this bit of wild crossover on your own, but I do need to put some big old spoiler alerts on this sucker and a few warnings. If you have read neither Masters and Mercenaries: The Forgotten or Thieves, this will mean nothing to you. If you haven’t read Lost in You or Stealing Summer, you’re about to get some big old spoilers you might not want, so be warned. I mean BIG spoilers. Not little ones. For the rest of you, I hope this reminds you that death is not always the end, and maybe some of us need a third chance to get it right…
This story takes place during the events of Lost in You and before Stealing Summer.
NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake lives in North Texas with her husband, three kids, and the laziest rescue dog in the world. She began writing at a young age, concentrating on plays and journalism. It wasn't until she started writing romance and urban fantasy that she found the stories of her heart. She likes to find humor in the strangest places and believes in happy endings no matter how odd the couple, threesome, or foursome may seem.
Her first novel, Their Virgin Captive: Masters of Ménage, Book 1, was a collaboration with New York Times bestselling author Shayla Black. There are five more books available in the series: Their Virgin's Secret, Their Virgin Concubine, Their Virgin Princess, Their Virgin Hostage, and Their Virgin Secretary. The next book in the series, Their Virgin Mistress, is releasing this April.
In addition to the Masters of Ménage series, she is the author of the Masters and Mercenaries series. There are eight full-length novels and four novellas available now, with more coming in 2015.
In 2013, Lexi also began releasing her urban fantasy series, Thieves. The first five are available now, with Ripper, a spin-off to the series, coming in 2015.
I actually found this story by mistake. Somehow, I was clicking on something and went down the rabbit hole and found myself on Lexi Blake's Goodreads page. I realized that there were 3 novellas that I hadn't read and then proceeded to try to find out where they were so I could get them. That sent me to her website and ta da......3 new novellas to read.
This one was a surprise. A seriously big surprise. Imagine a crossover from Masters and Mercenaries (the Forgotten) and the Thieves supernatural world. It never EVER dawned on me that what happens to Oleg/Sasha could have happened. It really was fun to read and then to completely re-imagine the events that occurred. This short story has Dev and Dan meeting Sasha after he is supposedly "killed" and what happens afterward.....fun, fun, fun.....
And....the best part was that it COMPLETELY set up whatever is going to happen before the new book and spinoff, The Rebel Queen, in the Thieves universe. Fortunately for me, it works out perfectly because while I've read the first 5 books in the Thieves world, I had not started the "Hunter" spinoff. So...today, time to start the book Ripper.
I just finished Taggart Family Values and last month I finished the Thieves series. These books have to be read before this one. There are too many spoilers if you don't.
It was so good to read about Oleg and that he 'turned'. This was a feel good story for me.
This 51 page story looks like it’s bringing Sasha into another series. If so I just might have to read this fantasy series, which I’m not really a fan of but I love Sasha. It was wonderful to see him get closure on his old life. I was sad to see him die because I really wanted to see him happy, maybe this will be his happy ending.
Lexi Blake's admonishment at the beginning of this very short read should be heeded. You need to know the Oleg/Sashas's history in order to understand his present and his future. I was very pleased when Sasha showed up in the Thieves series. He becomes an integral part of the Donovan-Quinn household and the resistance. I can only hope that one day he'll finally get his HEA.
I found this by mistake (just Google the title and you’ll find it). Fantastic short story! As stated in the synopsis there are MAJOR spoilers if you’re not caught up on both series.
It was...different. As I don't read the Thieves series, the latter part of the story was quite strange. It was nice to get some closure on Sasha's story.
This crossover between Lexi Blake's M&M and Thieves' series was FABULOUS. Yes it was short but it was just enough to tie up some loose ends and set up a character in the Thieves world that I would've never expected. MAJOR SPOILERS for the M&M and Thieves' series so don't go reading this unaware!
