This is an excellent historical record of the Rhodesian Air Force by Beaver. Brings back so many memories of the times we lived through and reveals precisely what that war was like seen from treetop height.
History, it is said, is written by the victors and Choppertech is just one such book, for while it may be so that Rhodesia was lost to the opposing side politically, betrayed by small minded politicians who lacked the backbone to prevent this beautiful, rich and productive country swiftly turning into just another pariah state, the facts this book records show that the Rhodesian Air Force was indeed victorious.
This is the work of a brave man about brave men, it immerses one in the seriousness, fear, irony, callousness, intense love, sadness and even humor that only war can create. From meticulously planned operations to the arbitrary and random tragedies Beaver has captured it all.
For Rhodesians this book is essential in the refreshing of fading memories and for the rest of the world it is a benchmark of what it takes to defend what is just and right when faced with insurmountable and evil odds.
