Overwatch: Tracer--London Calling #1

Rate this book
Tracer's time as an Overwatch agent is up. Five years after the ratification of the Petras Act, she now tends to small–scale crimes as a part–time hero. But when a punk-rock omnic named Iggy shows Tracer the dire living conditions that have been forced upon London's omnics, Tracer becomes determined to help in any way possible—even if it puts her back in the crosshairs. Acclaimed Eisner and Harvey award–winning writer Mariko Tamaki (This One Summer, X-23) and kinetic artist Babs Tarr (Batgirl, Motor Crush) are joined by exquisite colorist Rachel Cohen (Snotgirl) and letterer extraordinaire Deron Bennett (Tale of Sand) for a bi-monthly, five-part digital series that will be available online for free, starting this December. Working in close collaboration, Blizzard Entertainment and Dark Horse Comics present Overwatch fans with an exciting new addition to Overwatch's expanding story in the limited series Tracer — London Calling. Set several years after Overwatch and its agents are declared "illegal" this essential tie-in comic series will forever alter Overwatch history!

A beginning of a new Tracer story?

It's strange to me when comics about the same character are drawn in different style, by different artists, it even makes you wonder if they really are the same characters?
I liked Tracer's comic Overwatch #10, it was nicely drawn.
This one wasn't as nice, but it is a beginning of a bigger story, I hope.

Based off a game, but stand-alone story.

Good color artwork. Dark horse freebie. This would be easier to review if it was 32 pages. Tracer was a minor character, but she is upbeat and a basically good person. As a youngster she is outliving some of her friends and enemies.

Lena Oxton, aka Tracer, was a pilot in the RAF.

They wanted her to retire from active duty and work a desk job; she wasn’t having it.

Lena goes around and does what she can to help people, “saving the day.”

Despite being happy with Emily, Lena misses Overwatch.

She meets the omnics and wants to aid them as well. But not everyone is as friendly towards Lena…

I'm so excited blizzard continues making comics for overwatch! The community needs the Lore more than ever now that we await for news on overwatch 2.

I love how this comic shows us a little bit of the London underworld and we can see how Omnics are treated by humans, but also how suspicious Omnics are of human activity. The way Lena makes friendships is ideal and beautiful for a nerd that she is (“⌒∇⌒”)

I always enjoy meeting new Omnic characters because in this way I get to see how similar they are to humans. For example, the way the two friends of Iggy sit on the couches/chairs is so humane that makes me feel everyone would act like they were human beings even if they look like robocop (jk, they look way better).

I also wonder if Iggy decided to name herself/themselves as such because of Iggy Pop (I listened Lust for Life and now I'm marathoning all the old pop songs and loving them so far! Ah Overwatch never seizes teaching me new things.)

I could conclude (from the panel with Mercy and Tracer on a photograph) that Angela and Lena can't cook very efficiently since it ends up like each and every one of Seamus Finnigun's spells (Harry potter reference).

Last but not least, I want to praise Overwatch's lgbtq inclusivity one more time and also state that Lena is a cute amazing little person (*^▽^*)

(~~Who really loves tea by the way, as a true Londoner)

Love the art and the story and cannot wait to see what happens in the next four comics!!

Fun but it's just that

I like the Overwatch lore. There's so much to explore and a lot of it is still left in the dark. This gives a bit more, but since it's just the beginning, all it is is a fun time with some teasing.

Still, it's a nice read.
