Fire may be a deadly Crellic Element, but he much prefers napping and snacking to murdering armies. After centuries of being used as a weapon, he's finally able to live peacefully on Charybdis Station. While he's content to spend his days visiting his friends and raiding their homes for food, he longs for one more thing. A mate to call his own.
A trip to the nearby planet of Burnished Outpost gives him far more than he planned on. Quigley lives in a narrow-minded clan in the deep desert of Burnished Outpost. His days are spent hunting for survival, guarding his family from the rest of the clan, and hiding a secret that could get him killed. When everything goes wrong and he finds himself on run, all he can hope for is to live long enough to get his family to safety. When the most amazing being he has ever seen swoops in to save the day, Quigley knows he's found his mate.
The two men may be fated mates, but the differences between them are striking. Can Quigley adjust to a new life on Charybdis Station and can Fire find his place in his brand-new family?
Author's Note: 36,000 words - Fated mates; Mpreg; Love at first sight; Low angst. This is a m/m sci-fi/fantasy romance story with a little action and a lot of sweet, mushy love. It is book two in the Charybdis Station series which is a spin-off series of The Blue Solace.
I have been self-publishing since October 2018. My books are extremely light and fluffy m/m romance with mpreg, and while they span a few subgenres of romance, they have similar themes of found family and love at first sight. Besides writing, I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on, especially m/m romance. My personal favorites are mpreg, sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal.
This was so sweet. All Fire wanted was a mate and babies. He was a little naïve and child-like, but was so sweet and tenderhearted. Poor Quigley, he broke my heart at times but he was such a good soul and the perfect mate for Fire. Loved it!
Rating: 4 stars As always, this book was just full of lighthearted fun. I could read about Fire talking to the animals for the whole book and be happy. (but that’s just me) All in all, a great low angst story full of cute animals and children.
Fire is so sweet - he just wants a mate and babies of his own. When he travels to Burnished Outpost with his friends, he finds more than he ever wished for! Soon Fire has a mate, three babies (of various ages) and a Gram! I especially loved Sebastian's reaction to Fire's mating - it was priceless. Not everything is smooth sailing of course, but with friends and family supporting them, everything works out for the best. Special mention to Cinnamon, one of my favorite pets in any CW Gray series - I seriously love this little guy!
This is the second book in the Charybdis Station series which is a spin off from the Blue Solace series. I won't lie and say I wasn't eagerly awaiting Fire's story. The man is the kindest soul in the galaxy. Don't get me wrong, he can be deadly when he needs to be, but thankfully his friends and family fight to make sure he no longer has to be. Fire spent most of his cycles being controlled and now he gets to be free. He enjoys spending time with the children and animals, but what he really wants is to find his mate. Thankfully after a trip to the Burnished Outpost, he finds his mate in a native Quigly.
I was worried at first. I hoped Fire's mate was going to be someone who could appreciate him for who he is. Fire is like a child in some ways, always smiling and a touch naïve. The world around him excites him. I didn't want anyone to smother his flame so to speak. I needn't have worried. Quigly adored Fire for exactly who he was and contained a soul just as loving and bright.
When Fire got his mate, he got some kids to go with him along with Quiglys Gram. Of course like most on Charybdis Station the family grew by the end of the book and Fire couldn't be happier. I adore reading about him and being in his head. It is honestly like a ray of sunshine, I could stay there all day.
Next up is Silas and Rune. Though we know from previous books in the series they are already a couple, some challenges are alluded to which I think their book will address. I must be truthful though, I really wish Wolfe was next. There is something about that assasin. I cannot wait until he finds love too.
Okay, confession time. I read this entire series, which includes the Blue Solace in about, maybe 3 days. It's a bad habit, I'm not upset about. It's just I never review I just keep reading and review the last book 🤦🏻♀️. As a whole this series is a feel-good, HEA, good guys get the last word/shot always. Yes they have there moments of bad things that happen that are glazed over. But the main thing I took away from these books. Was a lesson. No matter who/what you are, you deserve to be loved and accepted, unconditionally. Plus there's no limit on pets lol.
Believe it or not this was the first book I came across in the entire series. Which means I had a lot to look forward to reading. And I fell in love with the childish antics of the characters and all of their stories. Yes I know there was grammar mistakes and things like that. I was not going to let that distract me from a story.
Now on to reviewing just Fire's story. Fire is everything you expect to be sweet and innocent...and then some. This is a feel-good romance and it was fun to see Fire grow just a little more serious. And now that he's second gift was revealed, he didn't come off so oddly adorable, now just too cute and yes still an adorable food thief. I can't say much more I would rune it for ya.
But I can't wait for Shea's story to be told. It was hinted to be great, in Sebby's.
I LOVED this one. Fire is just such a quirk character, it's great seeing how he responds to different situations and that he immediately defends his new family, but is still a deeply rooted goofy pacifist. I LOVED that we finally get scenes where he's communicating with the animals and pets. I can say I love Quigley almost just as much or even more; he's such a likeable character. A binge-worthy and fast-paced MM fated mates story that's scifi with some fantasy themes. You've got action, adventure, unexpected twists and turns, magic (elemental kind), and fated mates and found family.
How much did I like it? 5 Stars Ideas - World Building: 5 Stars Ideas - Plot: 5 Stars Emotional highs and lows: Expert Character Depth: 5 Stars Character interactions: Extensive Animal Characterisation: Expert Non-human Characterisation: Standard Content Warning: Consensual explicit sex scenes. This was basically a fun, fluffy romance set in a sci-fi world. My only issue with it is that Fire is so immature that to me he almost felt like he was underage, and I'm not into underage mm romance. It was also super insta-love (he basically walked up to and announced to Quig that they are mates). There were a few times where it got squidgy for me, but I continued on because the world itself and all of the side characters on the station (and there are A LOT) are so much fun to read about. It's also nice to read about people who aren't related, and yet who are so close that they become family. Definitely one of the ongoing themes is accepting all for who and what they are.
This is a quick, entertaining read and I'll definitely read the next in the series when it comes out.
Oh sweet sweet little Fire. I love him so much. I have lov d Fire's character almost from the beginning, his sweet little heart always amazed me. His ability to make those around him love him as well, was beautiful.
I found Quigley and Fire to be perfect for each other, Quig never tried to change him and embraced Fire right off the bat. And Fire seemed to be able to give Quigley and his family everything they needed. He was thoughtful and attentive towards them when others had hurt them for their differences.
If you want to melt and fall in love over and over again? I recommend reading Fire's Mate. I'm truly sad that this book had to end. But I can't wait for Rune and Silas' book. I love seeing glimpses of past couples in each new book as well.
I was expecting so much more from this book. Granted, all of the huge, dramatic stuff has happened, but this story still had some interesting potential. Unfortunately, that potential wasn’t realized. Instead, we got a very choppy narrative with abrupt transitions.
Quigley accepted Fire too readily. Dustin was too capable for someone who shuns everything non-Burnished. There wasn’t any personal growth for any characters in the story.
I had high expectations for this book, and ended up with what was, at best, ok.
The Burnished Outpost planet offers miles and miles of sandy desert for Fire to let his elemental side of just fire fly free of his human body. Enjoy how Fire finds his mate Quigley, one the Burnished. While they face dangers and the complicated transition to living on the planetsized Charbyris Station, Quigley and Fire definitely find time to cuddle and enjoy the steamier moments of being mates!!!
I absolutely adore Fire and I am so happy he found his mate and all the babies! Fire and Quigley are perfect for each other and Fire finally accepts his place as the HEART of Charybdis Station. I love the Blue Solace world and look forward to each story because they just keep getting better and better!
This book is about love in all its forms; family love, the love of friends, love of people and pets and the love of a mate. Fire is such an innocent, and his love is unconditional. His mate will have to be someone very special. It was so good to see all our friends again and to meet the new people fire enfolds into the station family.
I loved this book. Fire and Quigley were perfect as a mates. Quigley let Fire be who he was, and I loved how he just accepted Aster, Gram, and David. This was a great addition to this series. I'm ready for the next book.
Ok, it wasn't that long of a wait, but Fire's Mate was/is AWESOME! Not giving anything away, but Fire and Quig made me feel all squishy and happy! C.W. Gray rocked it again!
So worth the wait. Have loved Fire since he appeared and am so happy he finally found his mate. Great addition to the series, he and Cy are perfect for each other. So happy to see more kids and even more pets. As always a must read
The Charybdis Station crew continues to acquire amazing characters to become part of their family. I feel a bit nostalgic reading about the Blue Solace. Thank you for writing about Fire and his mate.
This series gets better and better along with the kids and adults and the romance; plus help make breaks and days go by quick with the pace of the books. Have tried to recommend to my boyfriend who said no thanks but thanks :).
Finally Fire's story and it was so sweet and adorably perfect, Quig was the best choice for Fire's mate, and the children are also perfect for Fire. This series is always full of, love and fun, oh and lot's of pets...psst they talk too....
Adorable, funny, loving, and of course...lots of pets, babies. Any opportunity for a visit with the Blue Solace series crew is one I jump for. If you're not already addicted to the two series, grab them, and enjoy the journey.🤣
This was edge bitting story keeping you on the edge. Fire finally found his mate and he so happy that he has more family to share his love with. You get to see the crazy crew of the station expand with family and animals. Can't wait to see what happens next
I loved this book! It was great to get to hear fire's perspective and to meet his mate. Quigley was a hood balance for him and I can't wait to see where the series takes me next.
This series is one of my absolute favorites and anything by this author is a 1-click. I'm never disappointed and I wasnt with this one. Cant wait for the next.
This was the perfect story for Fire!!! I loved him and Quig... Just love these book period...the epilogues are the best..patiently waiting for book 3!!
Fire finally gets his mate and is he ever perfect for him. Plus, he gets an instant family. This was an adorable addition to the series. Highly recommended
