V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn't happen.
Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it.
When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.

“You’re my wife. Not my captive.” He tangles his fingers in my hair, tilting my head back, and nips at my chin. “The world lies at your feet to do whatever the fuck you please with it. The only thing you’ll never be able to do is leave me. You’re forever bound to me.”

Excuse me, V. F. Mason, where have you been all my life?!

Santiago’s Conquest was such a pleasant surprise. I went in blind and I’m so glad I did because it was a WILD and TWISTED ride. This was my first V. F. Mason book and she’s definitely made it onto my list of authors to watch out for. I wasn’t expecting such strong storytelling and well-written characters. I’m not going to reveal too much about the plot because you just need to read it for yourself… but Santiago’s Conquest is essentially a revenge story mixed with a forced marriage and some major fucked up shit. I mean TAKING A DRILL TO A GUY’S DICK?! It really doesn’t get more savage than that.

Briseis was a wonderful heroine. She was the perfect mix of tough and vulnerable. (PSA: I’m tired of reading about bitchy-angry women disguised as strong heroines – there are so many ways to be strong besides having an uncontrollable temper!!!) I loved her resilience despite her past and her willingness to be more than what others had labelled her to be. She was so loving and the only one who could stand up to the hero’s brand of crazy.

“I kill those who I think deserve it. He puts his other palm on my neck, his thumb brushing against my pulse. “Ah, it makes your heart beat faster in fear. Scary thought, isn’t it? Who I find deserving of death and torture. They cry, beg, plead, and I never listen. Killing them all because, in my eyes, they don’t deserve a second chance.”

I loved Santiago. He was a ruthless savage. A cold-hearted murderer with a tortured past and definitely not above fighting dirty. The readers don’t really learn much about him until the second half of the book. Trust me, being stabbed in the heart would’ve been less painful than reading about Santiago’s past. It was so heart-breaking to learn what he went through. The author did an astounding job with his character development; it was so compelling and realistic. As far as anti-heroes go, he’s definitely one of my favorites.

Like any other good romance, Briseis and Santiago really brought out the best in each other. Even though Santiago set out to use her, the attraction was undeniable. I loved every single moment of their interactions. From being enemies to lovers, their whole love story was just really compelling. And did I mention, SCORCHING HOT?! ‘Cause damn… And don’t even get me started on the epilogue because it was EVERYTHING!

The secondary characters were fantastic too (and ya’ll know I’m a hoe for compelling secondary characters). There were just so many awesome characters in this book, I can’t even pick a favorite. I just know that I can’t get enough of this world. The Four Horseman were a really interesting bunch, it was really heart-warming to see their display of brotherhood. I can’t wait to read their books! I also loved that the parents of the main characters (and even the older generation) played such a pivotal role in the story. I personally think its lazy story telling when the author conveniently kills off or negates parents/relatives, so it was really cool to see how the actions of the parents trickled down into their children’s lives. It was also fascinating to see how Santiago’s past affected his relationship with his family. I loved the moments when he was able to be vulnerable. But what I loved the most about this story was how the author deals with Santiago’s relationship with his dad. I definitely shed a few tears there. The author did a brilliant job in painting the complexities of relationships and how sometimes it’s not just the main characters that are broken.

My only criticism was that some moments came off a little cheesy. Especially the beginning when the hero was torturing his captives. He had some over the top monologues… and so did the villain. And as significant as the flashbacks were, I felt like there were too many. While it didn’t necessarily disrupt the flow of the narrative, I often felt myself really wanting to get back into the present day.

Overall, Santiago’s Conquest is much more than just a dark romance, it was an addictive read packed with a lot of complexity, depth and emotion. Take heed to the trigger warnings: . While I personally don’t think it’s that dark compared to others, I liked that it was still within my comfort zone. This book is definitely worth a re-read… but after I devour everything else the author has written.

Rating: 4/5

3rd book down, and I'm pretty convinced now that every single book by this author is the exact same through and through but with different character names. And they all include this⬇

Heros all have eerily similar traumatic pasts
Heros has scars
Heros are serial killers
Heros blackmail heroine into being with him
Heros are obsessed with the heroine for no reason
Heroines for some reason knows Spanish even though she has no family or background in it
Heroines constantly pushes the hero away because he's a killer but as soon as she find out about their past then they're shes fine with it
Sex in the library

I'm not too sure why I've I'm still reading these though as they're all essentially the same😅 but eh, I'm bored🤷 this book could have been better but how the author made him and his dad have the same past, and Lucian not being able to find him, it just ruins it for me and makes Lucian a bit weak🤷 I really hope the rest of the 4horsemens books are better, but this pretty much seems to be the standard formula for this author unfortunately

My Review

I adored this one this author writes such amazing serial killer romances that enthral me every time.
They are definitely my go-to author for this type of fiction and I can’t get enough of them.
This one is no exception and I read this back to back in one sitting.
I’ve been waiting with bated breathe to experience Santiago’s story one of the four horsemen who we have encountered in previous books.
So although this is part of a larger series You can easily read this one as a standalone also.
This is Santiago’s and Briseis (loving the name) journey.
This is told in this authors preferred style of past and present so it jumps back and forth in time.
The first half of this book instead of Briseis backstory we actually get her mother Flora’s diary entries from her time just prior and while pregnant with her daughter.
This does give us a sense of the why and how of Briseis actual backstory.
Throwing a lot of clarity on her current situation.
I did think Briseis was much too forgiving when it came to her so-called family’s previous treatment of her especially her father and he definitely didn’t deserve any loyalty from her either.
The second half of this we get to hop back into Santiago’s past and his story is absolutely tragic.
The repercussions of this resounding heavily for years to come especially concerning his relationship with his father.
And although Santiago thinks he has lost his ability to love his capacity for this emotion is intense and just buried behind a mountain of hurt shame and pain.
Waiting to be released by someone willing to accept the whole of him even his extreme damaged dark parts of which there are many.
Briseis is this such individual and though original the key to his revenge.
The lure to hook his former tormentor she instead becomes the piece that will actually heal his inner torment.
Giving him a sense of peace of a different sort.
So this was fabulously written and the heat and connection between Santiago and Briseis was intense and extremely believable.
I loved them together and just wanted them to find their happiness together.
I loved how accepting Briseis was of Santiago once she learned the whys of his early-life realising that she needed to accept him as a whole and that was what he needed from her.
That he didn’t need fixing just loving.
I also loved how possessive and intense he was in return.
This also set things up nicely for future books and I’m looking forward to experiencing the rest of the horseman’s story’s as well.
Finally, I loved the epilogue and the snippet we get from Lucien; Santiago’s father.
That snippet felt just so fitting karma you gotta love it.
This was a really great addition to the ongoing series that I enjoyed immensely.
I would definitely recommend this one no issues it was great.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Santiago’s Conquest.

❝ Those who made the ones I love suffer are going to pay. I will inflict a lifetime of pain because Aleksei Popov is back...but unlike before, I have so much more worth fighting for.❞
… and Santiago sure delivered when it came to his and Briseis pleasures!

This was a far more enjoyable read than ‘The Land Where Sinners Atone’. It was surprisingly steamy and I loved how Briseis threw away her good girl image and submitted to her desires. It had all the elements V.F Mason is known for in all her serial killer romance: dark twisted characters, old faces that make reappearances who also contribute to the storyline, hot and heavy chemistry and the perfect amount of romantic suspense that has drawn you to the pages.

Now the wait begins for one of the other Four Horsemen (Remi, Florian, and Octavius) to claim their women so I look forward to how their story unfolds.

The rating is for Santiago; I really dig his ott j/p attitude. Though I didn't like the reminders of his manhoe ways at the beginning, I tried to get past that. After seeing Briseis, he became obsessed immediately and planned everything to make her his.

As for Briseis, idc much about her, but I feel sad for what she had to endure growing up. She gave me a whiplash with her inner monologue about lust and hate. The body-betraying syndrome made me dislike her, and I don't really enjoy reading FMCs who lose their common sense every time the MMC's around.

Overall, Idk if I actually enjoyed the plot; this is dark, and maybe I'm just not in the mood to read stories with so much triggering content. But I did like the MMC; I think he's the only reason I finished this. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, I'll still read the succeeding books, but I'm not sure about Florian.

YEAH!!!! GREAT BOOK OMG... Can I scream????
COME THROUGH GREAT BOOK come through!!!!
😍😍😍😍🥺🥺🥺🥺

I love reading book that involved from a hero that has been through so much dark in his past but the minute he loves a woman and wants her in, HE DO HIS BEST TO WIN HER HEART AND LOVES HER AND DOESN’T GET THE PAST between them ever.

This book is just like that. I tear up because there’s emotionally things happened like a family manner that made me tear up cause thats how touched my heart is with (I’m such a emotional person lol).

⚠️⚠️⚠️THIS BOOK TRIGGERS kidnapping, r*pe, violence, child and human trafficking, human slaughter and killing.

‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING.

‼️‼️‼️SAFE DARK HOT ROMANTIC LOVE STORY.

For me tho personally the way i see it its not too dark either. Its like their past is the dark one, not their future or how they are as a person.

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS OTT POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE... the hero is also a sort of mafia boss like that.

The hero is obsessed with the heroine and even told himself many times that he never felt this way before ever. The heroine is the first female he ever ever in his life that he really cares about!!!
🥺🥺🥺

“NONE OF THESE THOUGHTS HAD EVEN CROSSED MY MIND UNTIL MY GAZE LANDED ON HER.”

“Briseis (the heroines name) has quickly become my obsession, the desire to possess her and fill her soul with nothing but me almost unbearable as it shakes the foundation of my ironclad control that took decades to build. I NEED MY MARKS OF OWNERSHIP DRAWN ON HER SKIN, MY RIMG ON HER FINGER SO EVERY MALE WITHIN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF HER KNOWS HE’LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH ME IF ANYONE AS MUCH AS BREATHES WRONG IN HER DIRECTION.”
🥺🥺🥺

“Never bedded anyone more than once. With briseis? I f*cking crave tying her to my bed and learning everything that makes her tick, so she’ll become so addicted to my touch she won’t be able to live without it.”

“THE ONLY THING YOU’LL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO IS LEAVE ME. YOU’RE FOREVER BOUND TO ME.”

THE HERO IS VERY PROTECTIVE TO HER even to his very closest friends and even his parents...

“Do you see this woman? She belongs to me. And no one hurts what belongs to me.”

“When santiago wraps his arm around my shoulders, reassuring me silently. CAREFUL HOW YOU SPEAK TO MY WIFE, DAD.”

‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS.
But both have been celibate for a while.
Idk how long tho or when and since.

NO PASTS PARTNERS ever mention. Ever. Nope.

‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT and electricity....

“I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING MORE STUNNING, AND I WONDER HOW THEY WILL LOOK WHEN I TRAIL MY TONGUE ALL OVER HER.”

‼️‼️‼️MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO AND little from the heroine.

“Unfamiliar rage and possessiveness boil my blood when I think of anyone else touching this beautiful creature who should have never been dumped into hell.”

“POSSESSIVENESS RUSHES THROUGH MY VEINS AT THE PROSPECT OF OTHER MEN SEEING HER ON THIS CONDITION AND KNOWING SHE BELONGS TO SOMEONE. BELONGS TO ME.”

“And if there ever be a fool to stand in my way and try to claim what already belongs to me, Well He cam send God my regards, because he will sign himself a death warrant.”

“AS I’VE DISCOVERED AFTER MEETING HER, I’M A POSSESSIVE MONSTER WHO DOESN’T LIKE ANYONE SEEING LET ALONE TOUCHING, WHAT BELONGS TO ME.”

And many more lol. Omg I liked the hero so much!

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO ALWAYS SAYS TO THE HEROINE MANY TIMES to everyone and to himself and to her that SHE BELONGS TO ME. YOU ARE MINE. ONLY MINE. MINE. MINE. MINE.

‼️‼️‼️HOT very hot SMUT SCENES 🤤

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO have been through a lot on his life even from his past is just omg so hard for him. BUT I’M GLAD THAT HE NEVER LET THAT MAKE HIM WHO HE IS AS A PERSON AND WHO HE IS TO THE HEROINE HERSELF. He always fights his dark thoughts and dark past, blocking them so they won’t ever get between what he wants to say and what he want to do in real life at every moment.

“I SCRUNCH MY EYES, WILLING ALL THE MEMORIES TO FADE AWAY. I DON’T WANT TO REMEMBER PAIN OR ANYONE ELSE TOUCHING ME BUT THIS WOMAN. BECAUSE HER TOUCHES ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT MATTER.”

EVEN when the heroine finally accepted his past and everything about him, he didn’t and never push the heroine away... he even said and he really meant it “I WON’T EVER LET YOU GO. YOU’RE TRAPPED IN MY CASTLE FOREVER.”

“Because you’re mine and only mine. Nothing else matters. I finally accept this dark fate of mine, because it led me to you.” 🥺🥺🥺🥺

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO NEVER PUSH THE HEROINE AWAY. The heroine did push the hero away like two or three times at first because she just didn’t understand at first but then after what she learn, she never push the hero ever again.

‼️‼️‼️NO DRAMA WITH OW AND OM.

All the drama and fighting is between their family and the crazy enemies.

‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING....

10 years later...

Still in love and have 4 kids together.

A cute story too where the kids are joining in.
So cute!!!!

The hero is always obsessed with the heroine even after 10 years later and i think for forever...

“I LOVE OBSESSIVELY, NEEDING HER CONSTANTLY, AND I’M POSSESSIVE TO THE POINT OF INSANITY.”

PLEASE AUTHOR I NEED MORE OF THIS SERIES!
Made more cause I’m officially addicted to it.

Thank you author for this amazing book.
Write more. I’m your biggest fan!

'Santiago's conquest' is a standalone dark Romance by V.F. Mason.

I am a huge fan of dark romances, so I jumped straight into this one , the moment I had a chance. This book dark and gritty at all the right levels and I enjoyed every word of it. Santiago is the dark king and also a part of the Four Horsemen who are Rich powerful men , hell bent on taking revenge on those who turned them into the monster they are today.

Briseis , who is the main lead of the story has had her whole life controlled by her father and now after being back from exile , she is forced to live with the devil.

Santiago wants Briseis and there is absolutely nothing that will stand in his way. This book is a definite recommendation to all the dark Romance lovers out there. Believe me , the delicious darkness of this book is going to have you addicted!!!

I enjoyed Santiago's Conquest alot. I followed cameos of the Four Horsemen throughout this author's various serial killer romances and was so looking forward to their hooks. While I enjoyed Santiago and Briseis I did feel like we could have seen more of their romance vs scene after scene of flashbacks. I felt it was very overwhelming at times and took away from the story. Overall thisnwas a solid read however! 3.5 stars! ~Ratula

When Santiago forces Briseis into marriage, neither expected what would come of it. He wanted revenge and she wanted to save her father. What happens after is not for the faint of heart.

Santiago did not expect Briseis to bring his dead heart back to life. He sure as hell didn't expect the possessiveness to the point of obsession that he'd start to feel for her. But can he keep her safe when the man who tortured him into the monster he is today, is still alive and ever present, even in hiding?

Now that Briseis knows the true nature of the man she's married to, will she stay and accept the darkness within him? Or will she accept her freedom, when (if) he grants it to her?

Ahem, this one is intense - dark and gritty, seriously jaw-droppingly hot, and Briseis and Santiago actually fit together perfectly. She accepts him for who and what he is, and he gets someone who helps lighten some of his darkness. Works for me!

Holy Saints in Hell! Cause that's what I just read! V. F. Mason really delivers with this one!

Holy Saints in Hell! This is the second book I've read by V.F. Mason and WOW! I had high hopes (after the first one) and man, did this one DELIVER and then some. Even my one tiny little issue with the first book (The Land Where Sinner's Atone...see my review on that one) was not an issue in this one. Yes there were still a couple of misused words or tenses (better editing/proofing needed) but HOLY $h!T!...her stories are so dark and intense, with so many things going on, that these errors are easily overlooked; you know what the word is supposed to be, so you just read it that way.

She keeps to the same pattern of story telling; i.e., a story taking place in the present, with characters who are the sums of their pasts, so she intersperses the story telling (in mostly dual persective) with the memories of events in their past, basically taking you back in time, feeding you bits and pieces until it comes full circle and ties everything together with the present. (Those trips to the past are always in italics.).

The heroine, Briseis (love that name...you'll read where it comes from in the story), has suffered in her youth, but what the hero (Santiago) went through is unimaginable! You wonder how he stayed even minimally sane. Like I said, Mason's stories are dark and brutal with a lot of violence and abuse, but man, can she tell a story. She will make you feel their pain and suffering as well as their rage and sorrows and yes their passions and, ultimately, their joy. And again, towards the end, a scene with Santiago and his father will have you bawling your eyes out. I swear if you don't at least get choked up, you might be as cold and heartless as Santiago had to be to survive his youth.

Loved the other characters in this story too. Particularly, the other 3 (Remi, Florian and Octavius) of the four horsemen (Santiago completing the 4), as well as Callum, Artem/Arson and even Santiago's sister Jimena). OMG, can't wait to read their stories! Dying to find out what Remi's and Florian's dark secrets are and if there's more to Octavius's, Callum's and Artem/Arson's past than what's revealed in this story. Lucky me, they 're already out so I don't have to wait!

The author slayed me with this dark, raw, and gritty romance as she has an unique talent for delivering an original novel with captivating characters that are highly complex & interesting all while telling the tale in such a way that completely reels the reader in. Santiago’s Conquest is a mesmerizing story that entranced me immediately from the first page. Full of heart-pounding action & suspense, lots of heat, intrigue, and secrets, I was unable to put this book down!

Santiago dances in the chaos, thriving in its mayhem and depravity. A man with a darkened soul finding himself obsessed with Briseis, a pawn to be skillfully used in his clever game to enact vengeance. There is a darkness within him that was honed in by his traumatic past and he finds himself not only obsessed with but also possessed by the bride he blackmailed into marrying him. As an anti-hero, he check marked all my boxes and I found dangerously alluring.

Briseis is a remarkable heroine. She has an appalling home life and I found her to have the perfect combination of resilience and vulnerability. She refers to Santiago as the King of Darkness & Deceit, but as she finds herself constantly in his presence, things begin to change. I loved the character development as well as the evolution of their unconventional relationship. Their chemistry is off the charts and I feared I’d need a fire extinguisher from the shear hotness between the pages.

This is a dark romance that may contain triggers for some readers. The psychological aspects in this novel are fascinating as this book does have traumatic backstories and graphic violence interspersed throughout the pages. There is that perfect amount of suspense and action along with intrigue and romance. Santiago’s Conquest is a complete standalone with no cliffhanger and is considered book 1 in the author’s Four Dark Horsemen series. If you have read her previous books, then you will recognize some of the cameos from Lachlan, Callum, and Arson which I found entertaining. Overall, I positively loved this page turner and I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for us next!

I voluntarily read an early version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Santiago's Conquest by V.F. Mason is a twisted, dark, angsty, savage dark romance that will suck you in from the very first page and won't let you go until the very end. This is the first book in her new series on The Four Dark Horseman series. We get
Santiago's story. His pleasure is in pain- taking pain from others. He is dead inside and feeds from anger, obsession, pain and revenge. Most consider him a monster because he destroys everything in his path and just keeps moving without batting an eyelash. Santiago plans to use his enemy's daughter, Briseis. He has evil plans in order to flush out his prey and considers her collateral damage. Briseis hasn't had the easiest or best life. She's never been given or shown love. She's been treated pretty badly. The plans Santiago has in place seem to fly to the side. Santiago and Briseis’s desire for each other grows, and so does their feelings. There are many twists and turns that take place in the story. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. The suspense, intrigue, action, excitement, drama, rollercoaster ride of emotions, betrayal, secrets, lies, obsession, pain, feels, and dark romance makes for a great read!!!

Awesome read if your in the mood for a psychotic/murder/killer Hero who is obsessed with the h.

Since I read Callum's book before, I still remember bits and pieces of it.
I didn't know when i read this book, this was going to be about Santiago, one of the boys that were kidnapped with Callum.
Some parts of the past from Callum's book were shared in Santiago's but with his point of view instead.

I liked how the author mixed some Spanish words into the mix to highlight how the H talk. Some might find it annoying but I think it was able to show a different aspect of a character that is able to distinguish it's self more differently from the other Hs in the author books. That is important when all the H the author creates in her books has similar characteristic. The only difference being the premises and background.

Gosh it wasn’t an easy read mainly coz Santiago went through hell and back, my heart broke for him. Breisis’s childhood wasn’t a walk in a park either. I love both of them. But oh my Santiago, I adore you, darkness and all. I can’t wait for the other four horsemen’s books!!

Violence, sizzling sexy times, trauma, obsession, vengeance, mayhem and a wonderful love story.

P/S If you want to read Lucian’s Reign and Santiago but don’t know which to read first, I would suggest you read Lucian’s Reign first. That’s what I did (accidentally) but I’m glad I did it.

Pp/s I love Leo!!! Santiago’s interactions with him was adorable!!

Am I the only one who didn’t like the book?

This book makes no sense at all! In one chapter he is full of rage and wants to use her for his revenge and next page (with no much interaction whatsoever) he is so obsessed with her. I rolled my eyes so much. I couldn’t finish the book, after reading 60% and I really tried but I just couldn’t .

Murderous H/ cold for everyone else/ trauma/ triggers

Here we have a murderous cold H and a neglected, unloved h whose fates have been intertwined before they knew. I liked this book, and I really liked the H in this book as he is aggressive, dark and I loved his energy. Why a 3? I felt some of this was off, we got the back stories but idk it just felt unsatisfying to me in the end with the main arc happening, it was not epic liked I hoped.

Some things:
-Santiago, our H, is a delicious alpha how was kidnapped as a child and loved through horrific things until he was 15. This made him the cold hearted unfeeling murdery H we meet whose out for revenge on the man who was responsible for all his pain.
-Briseis, our h, is the illegitimate daughter whose abused as a child and then shipped off until adulthood like she doesn’t exist. She basically has been neglected and unloved her whole life.
-Our H is cold and doesn’t do feelings so his reaction to the h is visceral and has an obsession feel, but he doesn’t flex this much bc he goes after her pretty quick.
-Triggers: abuse, child abuse, rape, child rape, trafficking. It’s dark but not super dark so just be aware if you don’t read dark, this maybe not for you. If your a dark reader this probably will hit your grey scale.
-The steamy scenes were good but I needed more. Sadly no forced preg, that I love but they were still good.
-Lots of fisting her hair, speaking in Spanish to her, whispering what he wants to do in he ear, heavy making out in this book.
-I didn’t like how some things felt rushed, like the main arc, or even the timeline. At some point she h mentioned, it’s like 2/3 days… I’m like WHAT,. The main Story is within 3 days? Nahhhh…. I mean you do get a “it’s been two months” Juno bc the main story arc happens but it’s at like 80%, so you can imagine it’s rushed feeling.
-I wish the H was more JP, well I wish we had more moments, I feel like he was JP he just didn’t get to flex that crazy much.
-This def pulls you Into the work and makes you wanna know these side characters stories.
-No OM ow drama.
-No cheating
-HEA with a 10 year epilogue I think.

This book was good it just didn’t make me feel super satisfied once I was done. Will I read more in this series? Most likely yes. I’m interested in these other dark horsemen who are unfeeling and kinda crazy. Will I read this one again? Maybe…

A STEAMY HOT 5 STARS FOR THIS DELICIOUSLY DARK ROMANCE...

"SANTIAGO'S CONQUEST" is a Dark, twisted Serial Killer Romance by Author V.F.Mason. It is also a part of the series THE FOUR DARK HORSEMEN...But can be read as a Standalone...

Santiago had everything a man wants in his life...perfect childhood... Best friends... Amazing parents But all this is shattered when a demon abducts him in his childhood.youth.
The devil puts him through hell but there rises a man who fears and feels nothing...a psychopath..
The innocent, fun loving boy is turned into a monster who lives and breaths with vengeance in his Vein. When you have to hurt a man...Exploit his weakness...His wife and Children. He focuses on the man's daughter Briseis...if she suffers...her father will too ..Right? He couldn't have been more wrong.

Briseis is the bastard child who lives with her Mother and so call father...She always gets disappointed when she doesn't receive love from her family...But that doesn't make her stop hoping...

When he saw her..he soon finds himself obsessed with the pawn in his game of Vengeance...Blackmailing her to marry him does not help his case.

*********************************
*************
This book was dark dangerously delicious to read. I was so please to get an ARC for this amazing book. Although its my first book from this author but definitely I can guarantee that I would be binge reading her other books as well.

Santiago's character was no doubt a cruel, ruthless killer but the backstory of his beginning made me just tear up and want to hug him...his wrong doings doesn't matter.

Briseis doesnt have it easy either...Experiencing rejection after rejection from her family was not easy for her...She was a perfect mix of Resilient and Vulnerability and was just perfect for Santiago....
Aside from their bad start...they were puzzle pieces who completes each other.
The chemistry between them was mind-boggling...Steamy..sensual..and *signing* stunning...

I am waiting ( not so patiently) for other men from FOUR DARK HORSEMEN and their woman who brings them to their knees...

➜ hero - Santiago was everything that I wanted him to be!!! He is the smiling killer, hot as hell, but has no problem making you disappear should he feel like it. Santiago's filthy mouth, and their lust-fueled escapades. Have mercy! That library scene alone just about did me in!Santiago is definitely on top of my list of favorite characters. I wanted so much to wrap him up in a huge hug and never let anyone hurt him again.
He was OTT possessive over-protective obsessed male lead.

➜ heroine - Briseis becomes a victim of her birth in a scene that was set up way before she was even conceived. However, she is not meek, and she doesn’t take anything without a fight. And she is very careful in how she chooses her battles too.She also makes the choice to accept his darkness, understanding the drive behind it. There were lots of funny scenes as well, not to mention the sexy ones!

➜ overall review - Even though Santiago sees her as a means to an end when he first sets eyes on her, she becomes his everything, and he fights like hell for both of them to survive.Dark, twisted, heart- and gut-wrenching are words that don’t even begin to describe my emotions after reading this book. And underneath it all are the embers of a love that was meant to be against all odds. I am left breathless and aching to read more - the hallmarks of a one-click author to me.
We also got intriguing looks into the three remaining dark horsemen and from the glimpses we were given, I cannot wait to see what's in store for them!

➜ smut - 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

📍No cheating, no OW drama.

“In the darkness, the monster can claim his bride, but in the light, they will be separated once again.”

5 twisted and bloody stars!!! I loved this book, V.F. Mason’s characters are amazing in every way, her alphas are possessive, dark and yet you can’t keep yourself from falling in love with them; while her heroines are sweet, independent and strong; making perfect couples for every story.

Contrary to Greek Mythology, Briseis Dawson is not looking for her Achilles; her whole life she’s been hidden like a dirty secret, her father Howard Dawson send her away for years, now she’s back from exile, but the future that holds her is in the devils’ den.

Santiago Cortez is the king of darkness and deceit, and part of The Four Dark Horsemen, powerful and dangerous men who seek vengeance for the past that made them the monsters they are today. Santiago wants Briseis, and he is trapping the princess in his castle and he’s never letting her go.

If I had to choose one book to fall in love with V.F. Mason’s stories, this would be a great one, once you get a glimpse of all her dark alphas, you won’t be able to stop!

5 ★ conquest

This book was a delight. I loved the storyline, the MCs and finally the romance.
Santiago’s backstory was heartbreaking and it added to its powerful character. Briseis was also a captivating character.

I would recommend this book!

“The man who should be my greatest enemy somehow is the only man on this planet in whose arms I feel safe and protected but also cherished, even if his blackmail brought me here.”

• Intriguing storyline.
• Great addition to the series.
• Greek myth refrences were an added charm.
• Standalone with unexpectedly satisfying HEA.
• The writing won me over and I'm pretty sure
I'll be reading through all of V.F. Mason's
books in no time.
• Bonus? Santiago and Briseis acting all cute together ✨

Me resistía a leerlo, y no sé por qué!! Porque la verdad me gustó muchísimo la historia.
Nuevamente reitero que la autora se ha vuelto de mis favoritas.
