Things that dwell in the shadows and edges of nightmares are terrifyingly real and coming into power in this book! Set in an all to familiar near future, this book explores the natural progression many things currently troubling our planet and traces them to terrifying conclusions. Events are manipulated by an evil so overwhelming that the forces combating it are almost as terrifying.
The plot spans the globe at this point, with story lines following individuals and once tracing large populations. Horror leaning heavily on deep psychological fears rather than gratuitous gore. Though there is plenty of violence and gore as well. As with previous books, the narration style is slightly detached and clinical which in some ways only makes it scarier.
Book 4 of 7, this seems to be a serious turning point in the series. Previous to this the events were occurring at a level that didn't affect the average person. Even when events did spill out into public it was the type of thing that could be explained away, rationalized. This book all gloves come off. Across the world events are happening that are no longer in the shadows, too bizarre to be ignored, too wide spread to be explained. The end draws night, be afraid. Be very afraid.
Read the series in order. Not only is this a chronological series where the books build on one another, but there is some beautifully done symbolism and continuation of theme between characters from one book to the next. This book had strong echoes of book 1 that added to the depth.
This book is okay. It feels like 'filler' between the third and fifth books. Lot's of repetitive storylines, too many new characters that we don't really learn about and so don't care about. Not nearly enough time spent on the characters we've cared about since the beginning. Except for the Russians. I wish he just leave them out of the story. They are all the same one note character with different names. We have no need to have the technical knowledge shoved down our throats every time someone does something. This book was slog to get through and its only one hundred seventy pages. I really did not like this one at all.
The Fourth Seal is another dark book by Sean Deville. Demons, Angels, Inquisitors, nuclear bomb, this book has it all and it is very reminiscent of Stephen King's writing. The ending is very good and I know you will enjoy this book if you like horror books. Sean owns this genre.
Parts of this book are terrifying. So eerily familiar with the times we are living in with Covid19. Non stop fast moving action. Heart pounding and heart breaking moments throughout the book. Can not wait for the next book. Received ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
More of the unleashing of pestilence, famine and death by the Antichrist Horn. With continuing stories of Stone’s writing of Satan’s bible, Lillith and Julean’s fighting of demons and Emily, the young girl who can see demons when they take possession of others.
This story just keeps one enthralled. What almost everyone has heard about put in relatable detail. If you read these books you won't be disappointed, terrified maybe, but not disappointed.
4th book read, it’s building and it looks like things are only going to get worse. Sean writes so well, buy the first book and read the series. Very pleased to have found Sean, a superb set of books.
I read all 4 books. But by the 4th it was just too slow. First was good. Second decent… 3rd was slow..
Really disappointed about the ending -or lack of one. Nothing really got wrapped up so I guess the series is going to become a revenue stream vs something more tangible.
The book focuses on a deadly pandemic unleashed as the Fourth Seal is broken, which accelerates Giles Horn's sinister plans to decimate the human population and dismantle the structure of nation-states. The novel delves into survival, loss, and the resilience of those who oppose the Antichrist's apocalyptic agenda, blending chilling horror with suspenseful storytelling. It's a thought-provoking exploration of humanity's fragility in the face of chaos.
This book and series will give you goosebumps. It just runs eerily in sync with the current state of the world today with the pandemic and riots. It almost feels prophetic at times and really makes you stop and think. You'll love this book and series.
