I enjoy this kind of irony/humor/lyrics... so, I really liked this book. One of the greatest features here is symbolism - when one thing is meant to represent something else... it also helps to create illusion, tone, meaning. Well done with using metaphors and allegory: quite simple, but the images created by the author show the world around us in a new, refreshing way. Very short book (or excerpt) - got it for free via authors website. Overall impression: very cool!
Many people know my first love is poetry. I cannot get enough of it. This book was grezt. You can see how the author's mind works. Many of these poems are actually true to the word, especially if you had experienced it for yourself. I just wish I could read the wholebook. This book was just a sampling of the real book. I especially loved the end because he really is funny even though he sounds like a very serious guy.
I got a free copy of the book and is voluntarily leaving a review
I will ask why not too many authors even worldwide do a sample of their books like this one. Ok that im not a good supporter of humour in other languages other than mine (it shorten my possibility to understand what is humour or not and except for the obvious cases its not cool) but no big drama.
The Poet, Leon Stevens provides a brief escape in an 'excerpt' from the complete book "Lines by Leon." I really enjoyed a pause for poetry and it reminded me of how powerful a few lines can be! I am hooked....now I am off to get the full story (version)! Bravo Leon, thanks for sharing your gift of insightful poetry with the world!
I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of Leon Stevens' book. The author has a definite way with words that paint pictures and transport you to places he's been. I love his easy style and quirky, sometimes self-deprecating humour. It is raw and real and hits you in the feels.
I'm a little biased, since I wrote this. I think that you will either like my observations and odd sense of humor, or you will wonder what the heck I'm trying to say :) I gave it a 4 star since it was my first effort. I hope you enjoy it!
Poetry confuses me a bit so I'm not a poetry reader but I have always been fascinated by poets use of language. Despite that I really enjoyed reading your excerpt and I especially liked the poem about the sock. I like the illustrations you included and the ending was fun and quirky.
Lines by Leon is a short 30 pages of poems and prose with some pictures. The topics Leon wrote about gives the readers a lot to think about. I find it was interesting to read and left me wanting more. I can’t wait to read more!
Okay, if this book was in print I would say it was a waste of paper. It lacked volume and common sense. My favorite part was the one page stuck figure graphic.
