Ajay Pandey was born in a small village of Siwan. His father was in the service of the State Government, and so was transferred from one place to another. His mother, siblings and Ajay moved along with their father from one place to another.
His early life and studies took place at a small place at Bihta (near Patna), and then at Darbhanga. He finally settled at Ranchi, where his parents still enjoy their satisfying life on the banks of a beautiful Kanke Dam.
He did his 10+2 from St. Xaviers College, Ranchi, and then joined Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, where he did his undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering from 1983 to 87.
After graduating from BIT, he joined NTPC, where he worked for five years. A destiny was written differently. In the year 1992, he quit NTPC and joined IRS, the Indian Revenue Service.
After undergoing training of two years at NADT, he joined as Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax in Delhi in the year 1994, where he stayed for nine long years. On his second promotion as the Joint Commissioner, he was transferred to Mumbai.
He had occasions to get trained with the Intelligence Bureau several times. He was also trained in Civil Military Coordination matters. Specific training on Banking Fraud, on Investment Companies, Share Market etc were also imparted. During the course of his job, he had many occasions to interact with the top officials of various agencies. He had also undergone foreign trainings, where country specific double-taxation and tax avoidance & evasion matters were the subjects of his interest.
Currently he is posted in Mumbai as Additional Commissioner of Income Tax.
He loves: photography, playing bridge, watching documentaries on National Geographic, History & Discovery Channel. He also loves reading and interacting with young people and motivating them. He thinks each of young ones are unique in this world and are destined to be the best.
Today, he is also a successful author and his debut novel of genre-thriller – Resonance has created waves. Resonance has created history in the genre-thriller for Indian debut writers of going to reprint in mere 39 days of launch. Resonance has gone for fourth reprint in the first week of December, 2014.
