He’s a seven-foot tiger-striped alien on an undercover mission. She’s a pissed-off abducted human female. Can these fated mates find love?
TALUS
Legion command has sent me to an outpost slum in the ass end of The Savage Lands. Cloaked operation. Purely recon. Whatever intel they need to find isn't for me to judge. I'm all for finishing my job quickly so I can find a willing female to warm my den.
Should have been simple, until I see my fate-mate being traded for the very thing I'm sent to find.
CALLIE
I stumbled onto my bed after a night of partying, only to wake up in a human menagerie light years away. I'm about to be sold for a briefcase and a taco, when a seven-foot, tiger-striped alien claims I'm his mate, flings me over his shoulder, and runs.
Now I have to figure out a way to evade two alien gangs I somehow insulted, while convincing a beast--and my traitorous body--that I'm not anyone's mate, fated or otherwise.
Scorched is a full-length, stand-alone sci-fi alien romance that is set in The Legion: Savage Lands Sector universe. This series is full of fated mates, instalove, happily-ever-afters, overprotective alien males (that look like aliens!), and the headstrong females that love them.
Scorched is the first book in the Savage Lands Sector series and features Talus and Callie. I think I may be Sci-fi romance burned out right now because this felt very similar to other Sci-fi romances I've read recently and quite honestly I was bored. I wanted Talus to be more alpha and Callie to make better decisions. I wanted some more smut but the action was great. Overall, a pretty good read but I just wasn't in the mood.
1.5 ⭐ The half star is for the 1/4 of the book that entertained me, and another 1/4 that had me LOL and snorting.
I read this as a buddy read with my pals over on r/Sciencefictionromance. It's my own fault. I picked the pools of books from the huge list of freebies that day. I will OWN my mistakes.
Ms. Priest took a handful of plot elements, put them in a jar, then pulled them out one by one. Fated mates? Check. Shared dreams? Check. Secret ops mission gone pear shaped? Check. Alien abduction? Check. Omegaverse? Che...WHAT?! I would have much rather have experienced more, less intense, dreams prior to this. Give them some time to actually get to know each other. Carrie says in the end she can't imagine her life without him. Really? You can't? Because you met him like 5 minutes ago.
The action was fun for a while, then it just became a way to force the two together, similar to like poles on a magnet. And the relationship was fun until...it wasn't. And then it was hilarious.
The whole book was written in one night at the bar. The further she had gotten into it, the drunker she had become. By the end, she could barely hold up her head and the words came out as chicken scratch. (Yes, she writes with pen and paper in my daydream.) Then she had to translate it all by the light of day, fighting a hangover all the while.
There were missing words, misspelled words, wrong words and words that had no business being in the order that they were. She even spelled the species of alien, Tane, incorrectly MULTIPLE times! I legit thought a new species called the Thanes was introduced but I had missed that part.
And Carrie's personality devolved too. At first, she was a 20-something. By the end, she was a toddler, grabbing and pulling at Daddy's hand, shouting, "Don't go Daddy! Iz sowwy!"
One more thing, then I'll stop. Worst. Written. Sex. Scene. Ever.
Worst.

The female MC was an idiot with a one track mind. Never made a plan or thought just reacted and caused a lot of unnecessary crap to happen. TSTL characters annoy the heck out of me, especially when they are a lead.
Scorched was scorching from the beginning. In the opening, we are introduced to the hero of the book, Talus, and just by his own internal banter we quickly realize that he sees himself as quite the ladies man, and honestly? He’s not wrong. His race is known as the Rodinians- a humanoid race that has feline characteristics- Rodinians are hot. Simply put.
Now, typically in these types of books, the hero is searching their lives for their “Fated Mate,” but in this series, they are simply looking for their “Fate Mate.” I do have to say here, I did not appreciate the change from status quo- Fated Mate roles off the tongue easier and it’s more comforting in the wording- but that’s one small thing, not a huge deterrent, obviously. Back to the sexy and I have to say it, cuddly, Talus.
There is this scene early on where Talus intercepts this AMAZING smell and it is absolutely a feat for him to turn away from it and concentrate on the mission at hand- but wow, It was more than a little hot at how he responded to that smell- it was ALL CONSUMING, and he WANTED IT- like a kitten to catnip (all puns INTENDED). He’s part of a galactic special-ops group known as the “Legion,” and his group consists of fellow Rodinians. Their current assignment is to rescue abducted and trafficked human women. Do I have to explain to you where he found his mate? No, I don’t think I do. He’s patient, kind, sexy, and alpha- he was kinda the whole package, I’m sure that most of my rating will come from him alone- I Just ADORED him. He knew exactly what he wanted and instead of being an alpha DICK straight from the meet-cute not so meet cute, he was patient and understanding. Although there comes a time when a man has got to be A MAN and take charge and he did so beautifully… and sexily.
This brings me to Callie… Read more at TheSkyelights.com

This book about the Rodinian Legion🐯🔪🔫 is part of a larger universe💫 called the Savage Lands Universe. There are no cliffhangers in this sector!
Talus was sent on a secret reconnaissance mission and never expected to find his fate-mate! Callie was a human who had been abducted, waking up to the fact she was about to be sold, when suddenly a tiger-striped alien swooped down, claimed she was his mate, and carried her off. That just made the other aliens even angrier at her!
When Talus and Callie are near to each other, because they are mates, they experience a unity dream, dreaming the same dream, and they begin to develop a mate bond. But she has no translator device to understand what he is trying to tell her. Can Talus convince her they are truly mates and that he is protecting her? Can he get her to stay with him as they fight to survive? And will she realize “home” is with him?
I liked the humor interspersed with this story. The story line was exciting, fast-moving, and suspenseful. The characters were likable, especially the feisty Callie who kept trying to wake herself out of the alcohol-induced dream she thought she was still experiencing. Grab your copy and see if Talus can explain things to her and maybe convince her that she could accept this new alien life she now living!
Talus is on a mission when he scents his mate and has to act fast to grab Callie before she is sold to the Kridrins. Even though Talus is the mate from her dreams, Callie just wants to get back to Earth and when trying to escape inadvertently infiltrates Talus’s next mission. Callie just can’t keep herself out of trouble as she keeps botching Talus’s missions and when she goes into heat, the only thing she wants is Talus all over her. Talus thought they were safe but when the Kridins come to snatch Callie back, Talus and his team will have to work fast to rescue her before she is sold. Callie just wants a chance to make things right with Talus and she will fight against the Kridins hoping to gain enough time for Talus to rescue her.

I do like this book and I was a big fan of the first story that was in the stolen and seduced book of stories. I’m really into sci-fi romances that has aliens with cat or feline features/traits. I also like the incorporation of the alpha/omega trope.
My one complaint is the female main character. In the beginning she started out as a reasonable, sound almost practical type of adult. Right after she gets kidnapped, she even displays traits of a fighter. One who is brave and won’t take any crap. But as soon as she’s rescued by the MC, she turns completely childish and petulant. She was singleminded in trying to get back to earth over and above any logical reasons why she couldn’t. She just wound up seeming like two different characters...
Callie is an independent, self-reliant young woman on her way to becoming a Doctor, she is not a damsel in distress, not even when she wakes up expecting to have the world's worst hangover, and instead is in a cage having been abducted by aliens.
Talus is one of the good guys. He knows he can't fight every fight, he can't protect or save everyone, but when he realizes the woman about to be the next victim is his fate-mate there is no we'll save her after we've gotten what we need... it's now!
This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read stands well on its own. While it is part of an ongoing arc, that is secondary to interesting world building and characters.
I hated this woman. She's childish, selfish, impulsive, and a total bitch. Everyone is very nice to her and she only thinks very unkind thoughts most of the time. The fact that she doesn't say them doesn't make it any better. He was way too forgiving and understanding, yet she thinks of him as overbearing. He was pretty incompetent as a spy, though, but that seemed to be the norm for the Reapers. I mean, Callie was tagged, the enemy found her easily, yet they didn't even think of scanning for tracking devices. Tal was sent in "covert" missions, but he didn't seem too keen on staying hidden. He was supposed to gather evidence, but never recorded anything. In sum, very incompetent. Finally, the sex scenes were confusing AF, and the editing was abysmal.
I enjoyed reading this book, Great story and characters. Talus is a Rodinian on an undercover mission for the Legion Reapers. Callie is a human stolen from Earth to be sold, she is bound and determined to get free and return to Earth. Talus and Callie have been dreaming of each other not knowing they are fated mates. When Talus and Callie are near each other they dream one dream together and create the start of a bond. When Talus sees Callie he knows she is his and he protects her over his mission. Now he has to convince her of bonding mates and to stay with him while they fight for their lives.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Talus never expected to find his mate on this mission. She was taken and put right in the middle of it. Callie woke up in another world of trouble, literally. She has no idea how she went from partying, to kidnapped and then having a sexy beast of an alien claim you are his mate. She was not having it. Talus and Callie have to fight their way thru several obstacles to get their happy ending. This book had a great storyline that was well written. It had danger, suspense, drama, lust and love

Tallus and Callie meet while he is undercover for the Legion, trying to protect abducted and auctioned females. She is being traded for the case he is supposed to be looking for trace of, which gives him quite the dilemma. She is his fated mate and he takes her and goes, bringing the wrath of two groups at them. She does not have a translator, so it is interesting how they try to communicate. The story goes even crazier from there... in a great way. So much action and romance to keep you turning those pages. The ending is terrific and will give you heartwarming smiles.

Interesting intro started with Callie out for drinks with friends until she goes home drunk and sleeping it off. Next she is awakened in some place she doesn't know after her dreams wakes her like before only this one was most intense as if he was actually there and she learned his name through their bonds. Ome thong happens after another and another when Callie tries to make sense of herself and Talus, their bonds. They finally bond after the last event of almost losing one another. I give this book 5 cups of steaming java, ☕☕☕☕☕. Definitely going to catch the next book.
This well-written book 1 in The Legion: Savage Lands Sector Series. This book builds a great world and follow the lives of a well-fleshed out couple that have depth and strength. This story is action-packed and has twists, turns, suspense, mystery, chemistry, romance, and love. This a must read story and I cannot wait to more from this author, this one was the first book I have read by this author, but not the last

Fantastic start to this new series it starts with a stubborn Callie who’s abducted from earth she’s about to be sold when a tiger looking alien charges in throws her over his shoulder and takes off. Talus is on a secret mission when he spots his mate who’s about to be sold so he runs in and grabs her and takes off. Sorry guys no spoilers but there is so much more going on in this story I enjoyed it immensely and I recommend this book.
This was an ok story, three and a half stars so I rounded up. It felt rushed at times. I didn't really like the female lead. She was unnecessarily b!tchy at times and then whiny at others. The only part that I really liked her in was when she rescued the lorels. However, I loved Talus! He is a great male and a wonderful mate and I enjoyed his POV and how he interacted with everyone.
Yum, Talus is a black and brown massive striped tiger. Callie is a kidnapped doctor in her residency. The story is hot, has steam and action. The only reason for the four rating is Callie. I debated between a three and five because of her. Callie is borderline a brave strong heroine versus a headstrong idiot. It would also help the story line to know what the abducted woman are being injected with and experimented on for???
Loved the storyline and the characters. Very entertaining full of action, kidnappings, gangs, instant love, fated mates and the fact that her mate was a 7 foot tiger striped Alien and a ticked off human captive that's very headstrong. Yummy. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Book one in The Legion: Savage Lands Sector series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Talus and human Callie's story has suspense, drama, danger, villains, and romance. I want to read the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed reading this book, it has a good storyline. This book is filled with action, adventure and intrigue. The chemistry and interaction between the characters of Callie and Talus is great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
The title of this book fits it so well. It carries such heat you could get scorched. it has a lot of action and well thought out plot. It has passion and heat spread all through the book. I am looking forward to reading more from this author and will be adding her to my favorites list.

Although the story was good, the amount of typos were too large to give a rating over 3 stars. There was a review by a reader who received a copy as ARC and she identified there were many typos which obviously weren't corrected. It's hard to read a story when nearly every page has so many typos - it ruins the story.
Typical for the genre, well written and engaging the world building of this series is good however you can be a bit disoriented when starting various books because of the overarching story or world they are set in
The preference would be to read in sequence

I loved this book although I’m not really into the Alpha, Omega trope. But I couldn’t help but find Talus and Callie’s adventures hilariously entertaining. I will definitely have to read more. The world’s, the characters and the action kept me turning pages and the heat? Ooh la la!!
TSTL annoying heroine. She's a medical student doing her residency. But reads like a young teen with no self preservation or impulse control. If I not read Hunted first. This book would have made me drop the series.
We are told more than once that Callie has been tagged. Yet no one does anything about said tracking.
There are also a lot of editing errors and spelling mistakes.

This is a sweet story and romance. The Warrior, who is on a secret mission finds his mate. He struggled with finding out a human was his fated mate, but at last she is. The human female was kidnapped from earth during sleep. She is not happy.
