A great, flexible recipe book with all kinds of tips and techniques for using up foraged harvests. And Zachos isn't shy about keeping consistent: The crabapple cake recipe from the fruits chapter uses acorn flour for the cake and spicebush berries for seasoning. What a fun resource!
A guide to using your foraged finds, not finding or identifying them in the first place. These recipes are versatile enough to be adapted to a wide range of ingredients, including storebought. I plan to make better use of the field garlic all over my lawn!
i need to buy or get this book out again. I have begun to make infused custards. I would like to have Jerusalem cherries and acorn in my inventory. The mushroom section was wonderful but very little on how to use Puffballs.
I bought this for the recipes and I am NOT disappointed! There are plenty of other identification resources if you're left wanting for ID. I want to know different ways to use my finds. Love this book!
So much sugar... there are a handful of recipes I will try and everything looks delicious but I am trying to keep forsged foods as clean and healthy as possible
Super interesting. So many ingredients reminded me of food I had as a kid. I'm probably not going to turn into a forager any time soon, but I love how delicious and upscale the recipes were. The photos were gorgeous, too.
