While Reese and Jo's group stumble across a government betrayal of American citizens, Cami and her neighbors are pushed into a fight that will test all of their survival and combat skills in Broken Tide Book 3.
*****
When a massive landslide in the Canary Islands sets off a megatsunami, the east coast of North America is square in its path. On a fishing trip off the coast of Maine, Reese Lavelle barely manages to make it to high ground when the wave hits. His only thought? Getting home to his wife and daughter in South Carolina.
Cami and Amber Lavelle barely escape the wave in Charleston, they retreat inland, watching the city as it's wiped out by the wave in one fell swoop. As those who survived slowly sink into madness and the country succumbs to chaos, Cami's goal is simple: survive at any cost.
What an intriguing book Disaster and between families as well. You’re totally immersed in whatever is going on. You have to keep reading to find out what will happen. Love it.
The Broken Tide series moves into its third thrilling, action-packed segment, with Maelstorm - a clever play on the word maelström, an overwhelming confusion of violent forces, drawing people or objects into a huge 'whirlpool' of emotional situations, causing them to react volatilely against one another.
The two megatsunami-separated groups of the Lavelle family each has many struggles and difficulties to overcome. Deciding who can be trusted sees Reese and Jo, trying desperately to reach the mainland, accompanied on their voyage by Byron, Libby and nephew Tony, who seem to have a hidden agenda.
Meanwhile Cami, daughter Amber and their neighbors - elderly ex-Army veteran Marty and Gary, Mitch, Elizabeth plus their children - must defend the Lavelle homestead in Bee's Landing, which has become a safe haven for those attacked and forced out of their own homes by malign forces.
Will the megatsunami's after-effects turn out to be the least both groups have to overcome? How can the weary survivalists defend all they hold dear? What happens at Camp Echo?
The tension in Marcus Richardson and Mike Kraus' post apocalyptic thriller never lets up for a minute, making you totally involved by the character-led, all-action events in Maelstrom.
Grab your copy as soon as you can - Book 4's already whirling its way to the bookstore - and you won't want to miss a single storyline!
So dumb. They can't get rid of the boat they are towing because it is full of food and provisions. No one thinks to move the food from the other boat onto their boat rather than dragging another boat behind them.
They have to go to shore to get medicine- but they need both boats to go. Can't leave one to wait in safety while the other goes to shore? Nope!
These people do such stupid stuff. You have a house full of supplies- supplies others are desperate for. So what's they do? Leave the house empty and go camping to practice shooting guns in the forest! And what is with Reese's need to keep turning down help. He has nothing, and someone offers him something and he's like " oh no. I couldn't possibly!" Stupid!
And the solution to starving- burn down the houses of the people you think have food! Great strategy- because throwing maltof cocktails at the house and burning it down, along with all the food, will definitely improve your situation. Need a distraction, burn the food supply....screw the thousands and thousands of starving people!
And the national guard wannabes - leave one neighborhood and the very next one they go to is Cami's neighborhood...an hour by car away! Puhhhhlease!
Also no mention of showers or the lack of a washroom!
I'll finish this book, but I dont know if I can finish the series. The author is making the characters stupid and the plot has too many holes!

Struggling just to maintain enough food and to learn how to stay alive in these difficult times is so very difficult. Not knowing what new difficulties each new day will bring is terrifying. Can Cami come up with enough knowledge about the, "old ways" to be able to survive the difficulties they are starting to face from the lack of fresh water and sanitation. Thieves and killers from area jails are another source of Fear to her and her family and friends. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and constantly guessing what her next move will need to be. Excellent book. Can't wait for the next in this series.
This book three was a good one with a lot of action and some character development. There were a few editing issues ("they guy at the lighthouse", "Attention, residences of Bees Landing"). Nothing too distracting. I'm still surprised there is so little official help, save the questionable Guard on Long Island. I find Darien a bit more intriguing now too. He clearly has some issues with the law, but is also a pragmatic guy with some sense of decency. It will be interesting to see which dueling nature in him wins.
Mike Kraus never has let readers down and he always brings it and with the help Marcus Richardson have landed yet another winning series. Fighting fake military soldiers the survivors called a truce with the previous attack. Fighting together has brought victory to the town of survivors. If you have not read the first two books of this series then stop and go back to book one.
It is incredible what people can accomplish by working together. Two separate stories are unfolding. One by land and one by sea. If they can keep the momentum and just a little trust they may be able to survive. This is a page turner. Excitement and danger at every corner. Ingenuity and just plain stubbornness can go a long way. Can't wait to read the next book.
There is no Knox County in SC. The author attempted to rectify that by then changing it to Charleston County Sheriff's Office but that made the story inconsistent details wise. If you're going to use a location like Charleston, maybe do your research a little more. Otherwise, a good story. Just wish the details were more consistent and factual to the area.
The story line is great and keeps you wanting to turn the page. However, when you run up on missing words, double words, and editing issues that make you stop and figure out what the authors are saying, it is nerve racking. Quit rushing to get out the next book and have a competent editor take a look. If the next in this series is this bad, I'm done.
Don’t guess what happens next with the motley groups of characters. Get the books and find out! It’s a rush to read and book 3 is the best one so far. Lots of action, not just a lack of food and water but battles to protect what and who is yours. Awesome storytelling!
I read a lot of this genre and this one of the better books I’ve read. It has action and twist. The duel story line keeps the action flowing without overwhelming the readee
I don't know if different people edited this book to the first 2 but the spelling is awful full of mistakes and even missing words in sentences. The first two books had no such errors. Shame as it detracts from the story.
A tsunami hits the Easy coast and the ensuing tragedy all along the coast is unbelievable. Trying to get home through devastation unlike anyone has seen and lawlessness is everywhere. What next is anyone's guess.
Escape from scenes of destruction and enter the possibility of sailing home or being captured by one character's unspoken need, while at home survival depends on diligence and compromise. A well told story with enough action to keep the reader up at night.
Reese and Jo are going to get back. Byron, Libby and Tony are going to get to their people. Cami and the Bee People are going to get their revenge also.
This third book deal with plenty of action. Reese continues to try to get home a nd Camie continues to fight for her neighbourhood. Looking forward to book four
