Khanavai Warrior Bride Games #2

Captured for the Alien Bride Lottery

Rate this book
I refused to be in the Bride Lottery -- so now I’m a runaway bride.

Somehow, I knew my name was going to be drawn in the Bride Lottery -- the hellish agreement that Earth’s leaders had made to sell us to the aliens who protected our planet.

I’d grown up with the propaganda. It was our civic duty. Men registered for the draft, women registered for the Bride Lottery.

No way in hell was I going to be handed over to some giant man to be brutalized into bearing his children.

Instead, I cut out my bio-tracker and walked away from everything.

I should have realized they’d send one of those hulking, brightly colored aliens to track me down and bring me back.

Never did I expect that he’d be devastatingly attractive.
Or that we’d have to go on the run from the evil Horde trying to destroy both our planets.
Now that we’re together, can I ever run away again?

And could he really hand me over to the Bride Games to be taken by another warrior?
Because I think I might be falling in love . . .

Book two of the series picks up at the end of, and overlaps, book one a little bit. It is written in first person from a dual POV and ends with a HEA.

Amelia has a feeling that she is going to be drawn in the bride lottery and makes a plan to run. Zont is a warrior groom who falls for her as soon as he sees her picture and makes plans to go after her.

I love that Amelia is competent, decisive, and fierce in her decision to run and in her life. She stays that way throughout the book. I love how ready Zont is to do whatever it takes to get to Amelia and also to protect her. They end up facing danger together and rely on each other to survive. I liked the first book, but I loved this one. Steamy and action-packed, this was a super fun read. I adore the heat between Zont and Amelia. I also loved that there are times when they face the contrast in their priorities: hers as a healer, and his as a warrior. Zont is a soft heart who is easy to love.

This was a fun and fast read and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I somehow skipped reviewing this. It was a quick read, but I was disappointed that the h’s attempt to run was halted so quickly. Although the language barrier was interesting since she removed her tracker before she ran, which also had her translator. I liked that the H wasn’t perfect and he does have some vulnerable moments where he has to depend on the h. This plot line had more action, first as the h ran from the lottery and then due to danger. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither are virgins.

The bad aliens show up in this book for the first time, but it was confusing and we don’t even learn what exactly happens with their attack. The couple from book 1 offer advice and support to this couple and the next book’s couple are also shown. A little more info is given on the guys’ special equipment and there were a couple of spicy scenes in this book. Overall it was just ok for me but the couple are mated and in love by the end, still no epilogue.

This one wasn't bad. However, the female main character Amelia was accidently also written as Aurelia and Amy, I'm not sure how that was missed by the editing team 🤷🏻‍♀️ it was a fine story otherwise.

Captured for the Alien Bride Lottery is book two in the Khanavai Warrior Bride Games by Margo Bond Collins.

It’s better than the first. I enjoyed the fast-paced action and adventure. Amelia doesn’t want to become a bride or baby making machine, so she goes on the run. Zont see’s his friend find his bride at the games and it makes he want to settle down, so when he sees the news about a runaway bride he’s ready for the chase.

All and all its an ok read! I’m not fan of this series and I gave it a good go, but won’t be reading on. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Continuing with the Khanavai Warrior Bride Games series, now we have the meeting of Zont Lanov, a friend of Cav Adredoni (previous book), when he was watching The Bride Games and it was announced that one of the brides had managed to remove the translator/localizer chip and fled from Las Vegas, where the event took place.

For some reason, although Zont did not smell Amelia Rivers (the way the Khanavai men knew when a female was their mate), he was suddenly attracted, and went into hunter mode.

He and his team went to Earth and had the help of a human policeman, Wex, and discovered that she had managed to travel to Chicago by bus.

As soon as she arrived in the city, she was surrounded by bounty hunters, and Zont needed to act fast or another male would do a lot of harm to the one he knew was his mate.

While he tried to defend her, fighting with the other warriors, they needed to communicate. Amelia, obviously did not speak his alien language. He managed to remember some human words, in English, and speak to her to trust him.

Amelia was a very successful surgeon and came from a wealthy family. For her it was inexcusable that women were offered - and forced - to marry aliens in exchange for the protection that humans received from the Khanavai warriors because of the Alveron Horde. Only when they were under attack from Alveron did she realize that the whole story of the attacks was true.

The adrenaline of fighting side by side made Amelia and Zont even more attracted to each other, especially when he was injured in the fight and it was her turn to show her specialty.

A different story/plot in which the human woman shows her worth and that there were other ways - less imposing - for the khanavai to find their mates.

Having not read the first book, I didn’t feel like I as missing out on anything. And I quite liked the fact no names are mentioned in the blurb, until you read the book.
Amelia has no intentions of becoming an alien bride!
It’s a tradition that’s years old, earth men get to become soldiers, and women get to become wives and child bearers to the alien race that protect earth.
But she’s going to break with tradition and go on the run.....
Zont is looking for a fun time, but watching his friend and team mate find his bride at the “games” makes Zont think it’s time to settle down, and when he sees the news about an runaway bride, Zont knows she’s the one for him, it’s time to go a huntin’......
A fast pace action and adventure story. The language barrier between Z and Amelia maybe confusing for them, but to me it did make me chuckle.
Amelia is a doctor who knows that she’s not going to become just a baby machine for her alien husband, so cutting and colouring her hair is the first part of her plan, removing the chip from her body is a little trickier, but once it’s done she’s in the wind, she’s smart, she’s not a pushover and I liked her sass.
Zont seems like a bit of a player at first, and I had hoped Amelia would give him more of a challenge before she was caught.
But Zont isn’t the only alien looking for Amelia....
The horde that fight with Zont’s race want both brides and earth, so it’s a constant battle.
Who gets to her first? And will she go willingly?

The writing and editing in the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with only occasional typos, but not enough to detract from the overall reading experience. The world building was vivid. The characterization was well done, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and hot. Three to four chili peppers. The plot and pacing were tight and exciting, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. This novel had low angst and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel had the Fated Mates trope, the Runaway Bride trope, the Partner in Trouble trope, and the Reality TV Show trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. I recommend this sci-fi romance to readers who enjoy high stakes and adventure elements in their novels. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases. I will probably buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

This is the first book I have read in this series. Amelia Rivers just knows she is about to be chosen for the Bride Lottery. She immediately takes steps to get far away from where she could be found by the Khanavai. She changes her hair color, removes her tracker/translator, and books it to the bus station.

Zont Lanov is disappointed that none of the participants in the current Bride Games are his mate. At least not until the emcee announces that there is a runner and he sees Ameila River's picture falsh onto the screen. He knows that she is his and he will hunt her down and bring her to Station 21 to participate in the Games. Only things do not go exactly as planned.

Find out what happens when bounty hunters try to take Amelia and Zont has to try to communicate with her without her having a translator. And then the Alveron Hordeships attack. It seems everyone is after Amelia.

I was given a free copy of this book from Booksprout. My review is voluntary.

Do you want to win the lottery ?

Winning the lottery is supposed to be good news but if it is an alien lottery and you are the prize it may not be what you want. If the law says you have to go if your name is called what do you do if marrying an alien is the last thing you want ? Run ? What seams like a good idea turns into a hunt and its not just the good guy who is hunting. The saying " you can run but you cant hide " is never more true than when a very very large and fierce warrior alien wants you for his mate . Fast paced , full of twists and turns and attacking aliens of one sort or another . Not the first book in the series but very easy to read as a stand alone ( if you like alien romances you will want the other books once you have read this one ) A very determined and feisty heroine and a major language problem gives lots of fun and confusing moments

I really liked this story. I would probably have given it 3 1/2 stars maybe 4 because these Khanavai warriors are just precious. They are fiercely protective and will do whatever they can to make their mate happy. Even if they don't get what they want. But this book needs an editor really badly. It's not just typos or wrong words, it's inconsistent descriptions or naming of things, locations, and the timeline is off at times. But again, I like the story and the characters. I'm for sure going to read more of these stories. Happy reading!

This is a great book, it’s witty, funny and has fated mates and a happy ever after ending. Amelia is on the run, no way is she going to be bred by some barbaric alien. That is until her fated mate goes on the hunt for her and he catches her. Just as he gets to her though disaster strikes from two places and they end up holed up together in a hotel.

I read this as part of a set of the first 4 books. I've enjoyed the first two stories so far. I've been reading other Alien Bride series, and luckily, this one is just different enough to hold my interest.

Unfortunately I’m going to stop at this book in the series.

The first one really caught my attention, but this one fell flat for me as a reader.

Still a cool concept and fun quick read if you’re looking for an alien romance that’s quick and easy.

This was almost a DNF for me because of the heroine. She refused to give up her life to risk being a bride, so she... Gives up her life to live on the run with no real plans. Does she think she has a better chance still being a surgeon while being a fugitive than she would being a bride? The "I'm woman hear me roar" just strips some of any sense at all. Especially when they are all inflicted with betraying body syndrome.

She says she is anti military and wouldn't even date a cop because of her aversion to violence, but that's never addressed later when she mates a special forces alien with no discussion of his job.

I find I really like this concept and world building even if it's not quite explained entirely. And I liked this Hero quite a bit. However I'd love to see more diversity (funny how all the contestants discussed are American and Caucasian...) Both in physical attributes as well as heroine attitudes.

Amelia is the runaway bride. She doesn’t want to marry an alien and has done everything to avoid it.

Zont knows when he sees Amelia he wants her. He’s willing to go to the ends of the earth to find her and protect her. Will following her and helping her from danger help him win her heart?

Another great addition to the bride lottery. The adventure had me cheering for Zont to get his human.

My rating guide: 1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= I mostly enjoyed it; 4= Yes, I LIKED IT a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! CAPTURED was the perfect light-hearted escape. See below.

4 Stars for CAPTURED FOR THE ALIEN BRIDE LOTTERY, #2 in Margo Bond Collins’ KAHNAVAI WARRIOR BRIDE GAMES series, a series featuring earth women who reluctantly (or not) end up on a televised Bride Games reality show broadcast between earth and the Kahnavai population. This is a light-hearted Space Opera Romance with a spunky woman surgeon and the Alien Warrior who hopes to woo her heart. Due to steamy scenes and occasional strong language some readers may prefer to look elsewhere. Not recommended for YAs.

Background -
For the past 50 years, Kahnavaian space warriors have been protecting planet earth from a common alien enemy known as the Alveron Horde who in the past raped and pillaged earth. Generations ago, the Alveron race also attacked the Kahanavai’s with chemical warfare causing their adult couples to now bare only male children. The Kahnavaian population would have eventually died out but they discovered earth, the human female’s compatibility with their own male population, and the earthlings desperate need for protection from the oppressive Horde which constantly threatens earth. Only the protection of the more advanced Kahnavaian race combined with the human forces can contain the attacks. So a treaty between Earth and Kahnavai was proposed, accepted and called the Bride Treaty. The treaty allows an annual Bride Lottery where all single earth women 21 yrs and older submit their names to a lottery. “Winners” enter the Bride Games competition which is a televised reality show matching the preselected earth women to a number of prospective single Kahnavai warriors/civilians. An earth woman can return home if none of the preselected Kahnavaian are a good match for her; and her name never re-enters future drawings. Women who receive one or more possible Kahnavai matches participate in the elimination portion of the Games with the goal of selecting the best possible warrior and future mate for each earth bride.

In CAPTURED, Amelia Rivers/FMC is a 28yr old surgeon attending a medical conference in Las Vegas when meetings are suddenly interrupted by a global device-telecast announcement stating the names drawn for the next Alien Bride Lottery contest. Amelia dreads her name will be one of those called so she decides to flee. Finally completing her medical training and now practicing in medicine, Amelia has no desire to leave earth forever to be a foreign bride. Spec Ops team member Zont Lanov/MMC is one of the prospective Alien husbands. He has been sent by his ranking officers to win a bride. The Kahnavaian race believes mated males (with lifetime commitments) make better, steadier, stronger warriors so obtaining well-matched brides for their top ranking men is desirable. When an enemy Alveron Horde warship suddenly attacks earth, Amelia begins to re-examine her priorities. Perhaps a compromise is possible.

CAPTURED FOR THE ALIEN BRIDE LOTTERY is a light-hearted, fast reading story which shows how individuals are affected by an agreement created for the “greater good” of 2 very different worlds. I enjoyed seeing how both characters learned to appreciate another perspective than their own and that compromising isn’t necessarily losing. It might be winning it all! CAPTURED FOR THE ALIEN BRIDE LOTTERY would be most enjoyed by readers looking for a quick reading, fun, sexy, light-hearted Space Opera with low angst, likable characters in an Opposites Attract and Proximity/Danger tropes setting, with a sweet HEA. I enjoyed CFTABL enough that I picked up bks#3 in the KAHNAVAI WARRIOR BRIDE GAMES series. For me, it was a perfect “COVID-escape” read.

READER CAUTIONS* -
VIOLENCE - Sci-Fi type; think Orig Star Trek planetary warrior games.
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. During the Bride Games rather sexy times occur and on-scene intimacy follows.
* NOT RECOMMENDED for YA readers or those who prefer CLEAN fiction.

Captured for the Alien Bride Lottery is a quick Alien “Mating” romance, from genre heavy-hitter, Margot Bond-Collins.
Packed with Actual Plot to break up the delightful Smouldering Sexual Tension, this second in a series is a semi-standalone.

I say “semi”, because as someone new to the series, I was left with some rather interesting questions.
Like, for example, what on Earth - or off it, for that matter - are the Bride Games??
And who or what are the Alveron?
Hopefully, the rest of the series will work on answering these questions!

I’m here to answer 6 questions of my own.

1. Were there any Characters of Colour?
Apart from the brightly coloured aliens populating this series, there were no significant characters with melanin. This isn’t unexpected, just disappointing. What was unexpected was a throwaway line from the alien’s perspective:

“even if his skin was one of the boring darker shades on the beige-to-brown spectrum that humans tended toward.”

Now this line is a GIGANTIC red flag! This is the kind of line that speaks to authorial intent - and not the good kind. Even if it’s not intentionally thrown in there, the insidious fascism it points towards is concerning. I’m really hoping that Margot will put a good amount of energy into adding well researched Black and Indigenous characters to this series - in consultation with BIPOC, of course. It’s always good to have more non-white characters, and burying harmful notions such as “dark skin = boring” under kickass characters is one of the better ways to course-correct.

2. Were there any GLITTFAB/Queer characters?
You know, there wasn’t a single explicitly Not-Heteronormative character.
No Gays. No Asexual or Aromantic folx. No Non-Binary or Trans folx. Not even any Bisexual or Polyamorous folx!
The dearth of Diversity was truly mind boggling. All that untapped literary potential squandered in the face of reproductive, romantic, randiness.

3. Were there any Disabled characters?
Did I mention there was a lack of diversity? Because, despite 1/4 of all Americans being Disabled, whether temporarily or permanently, and most other countries showing similar statistics, the cast here gave us one, single, injured character who had to use a mobility aid, temporarily. The point is driven home that the disability is temporary, as well.
Given the sheer scope of the universe in this series, it’s a bitter disappointment to be faced with such ableism.

4. Was the book worth my time?
Considering it took just shy of 3 hours to read, I think it was a decent way to while away the time! The romp was full of gallivanting adventures, sexy shenanigans, and interesting plot points! It was fun to see quite as much Plot as there was; for all the cast was lacking, the story was superb. The description was detailed where it needed to be, without dragging or going too in-depth. The characters and relationships had time to develop naturally, even with the “insta-love” aspect for one of the MCs. There was obvious continuation from the first book, as well as a clear path of progression into future stories. The sex was terrific!

5. Would I re-read this book?
I think I would, though AFTER I’ve had a chance to read the first book to fill in the gaps! It will be good to revisit this to see just how many details take on a new light with added context!

6. Would I recommend this book to others?
This is less likely, because of the lack of diversity and the fact that this is the second in the series. I might suggest the series to friends who are just looking for a couple of hours’ entertainment, especially if I already know they are interested in the genre.

Earth and the Khanavia’s have an agreement to supply them with female brides in exchange for protecting them from the Alveron Horde, which devastated Earth the first time they attacked. Zont is a special ops warrior in the Khanavia’s military. He is on Station 21 to participate in the bride selection with his team. No one has captured his interest at all. A Khavanian male can tell his mate from their smell. He is bored and depressed. When it is announced that one of the selected brides has removed her tracking chip and run, he is captivated as soon as he sees her picture. He is given permission to go to earth with some of his team to track her down and bring her back to station 21. Her last know location was in Las Vegas, but by the time he gets there she is long gone!

Amelia Rivers is a surgeon and does NOT want to become a bride for some Alien. Somehow she feels that her name will be chosen this year, so she cuts out her chip and takes the bus to Chicago. By the time she gets to Chicago, Zont as well as 3 bounty hunters are waiting for her when she steps off the bus. There is a bounty on her head to whoever brings her to Station 21. Zont is furious that they are trying to take his mate. He attacks all three of them and tells her to run. Then he follows her. He has been injured fighting the bounty hunters, but tells her there is no time to worry about that because they are also being attacked by Alveron Horde Drones. Zont destroys the drone that has found them and they steal a car and head back to Las Vegas and his team. By the time they stop for the first night, Zonts wound is infected and he is running a high fever. Amelia spends the next few days taking care of him and treating his wound. During that time, she gets to know him and really likes him. Just as Zonts fever breaks and the wound is healing, they are found by the bounty hunters again and by the Alveron Ship. Zont takes care of the Bounty Hunters, but is powerless against the ship. Just as he figures all is lost, his team finds them and destroy the Alveron Ship and rescue them. Amelia has no choice but to go with Zont to Station 21. She suddenly finds the idea of being with Zont a lot more appealing that before. When they return to the station, she is given the choice to choose Zont as her mate or go through the Lottery and be chosen by another male. Before she can tell them her decision to stay with Zont, the station is attacked by another Alveron Horde Ship. That ship is destroyed, but not before it has done major damage to the ship and injured scores of people. Amelia offers her services and spends the next 2 days treating the wounded. Amelia finally tells Zont that she loves him and will stay with him, even though she hates to give up her medical practice on Earth. Their commanding offices finds Zont and tells him that they have decided they need a base on earth, as the horde seem intent on destroying the Brides program and another way to get back at the Khavanians. Zont accepts and he and Amelia return to earth to start their life together.

Excellent book all the way through!!

(Disclaimer: This review is a copy-and-paste overall for all books in this series. Rather than touch on each book separately and reveal spoilers, I will keep my review basic.)

Who knew that I had an alien kink? I sure didn’t. I started reading alien romance novels after being bored af with vampire romances. Now, here we are, and I can’t get enough.

I am obsessed with this author, and I am obsessed with their (her?) books in this series!

Similar alien romance stories tend to have a little too much action for my liking. I think these books have struck the perfect balance, providing more sex and romance than the action.

Earth has agreed to provide brides for the aliens via a lottery system (similar to a war draft) in exchange for protection against a massive solar threat. Each year, a select number of women are sent into space to possibly be chosen as an alien bride. The entire ordeal is televised, similar to “The Bachelorette” Earth tv program. But without the rose ceremony.

I fell in love with the tense buildup leading to the mate bond. The idea that these aliens are able to sense “the one“ based off their scent alone, really flips my switch for some reason. Instead of love at first sight, it’s love at first smell. I enjoy the variety in that the Khanavai warriors come in all colors of the rainbow. I love that the author has also incorporated different races and sizes of the human mates; Not everyone is a 22 year old, size 2, white girl with big boobs. Love it!

Downsides? Books are too short. Could use a little more character development. Often feels a little rushed. After looking at the upcoming releases and their dates, that’s exactly what’s happening; these books are being rushed. The author needs more time to perfect her craft (IMHO).

Being caught up in the series, I am anxiously waiting for the next books to come out. Yes please! A must read.

In this Bride Lottery story, we get to read along as Zont, the Special Ops guy we met in the first book who befriended Cav, goes back to earth to chase the runaway bride, Amelia. Amelia doesn't want any part of the Bride Lottery, nor does she want to marry one of the Khanavai warriors. In fact, she doesn't even want to marry a human man. Being a surgeon, she has the necessary skills needed to remove her tracker/translator chip. At the beginning when the government of both planets signed the treaty, it was required that all earthlings got tracker chips embedded behind their ear under the skin. Amelia, feeling like her luck of never being chosen for the games has finally run out, removes her chip before her name is called. Then she cuts and dyes her hair before jumping on the first greyhound headed out of Las Vegas. She figures with a bit of a head start she can safely and successfully escape her fate. However, Zont is a very skilled tracker, and he's not the only Khanavai male hunting her. Bounty hunters are now involved after an award was offered for her capture and return. Zont saves her from the hunters only to be attacked by the Alveron Horde. After successfully escaping both groups, they go on a cross country trip together, heading back to Las Vegas to save Zont's team who were also attacked.

There's more that happens, but I don't want to ruin the whole story. Just know that it a fun filled exciting adventure with plenty of danger and romance blended throughout. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading the next story.

1/5 stars!

The premise of this one is what got me to pick it up in the first place alongside the fast-paced writing style of the author. However, both of those things that initially hooked me with the book was not executed to its full potential when read. I feel like the writing style (and my enjoyment of it) declined in this book and the premise was not executed well. The Alveron Hordeship just came up randomly and we didn't even got an answer or even a bit of a foreshadow as to why. It seems like the author needed something for Zont and Amelia to stay together for a couple more days and bam random ship attacks them for whatever the fuck their reason is. I also feel really uncomfortable with how their mating went and how Zont kept on having inner monologues about him not explicitly telling Amelia that they are mated because he purposefully didn't tell her that his "mating c*ck" (which is another peen of his) penetrated her while they're having sex. And he knows that by doing so, she will be connected to him forever and ever and he still actively chose to withhold that information despite knowing how Amelia feels regarding the situation with the Bride Games and their bullshit. I was just so disappointed with this book because I really got hooked by the premise and how their story was set up in the first book. But overall, this one is a mess both in the events that happened in the book and the dubious consent situation that happened between the main characters. Will not recommend.

Captured for the Alien Bride Lottery is the second book in the Alien Bride Lottery series and it is even more entertaining than the first book in the series. The world building is terrific, and the characters are well developed with distinct personalities. The characters from the first book appear in this one but you do not need to have read the first book to enjoy this one.

Amelia is terrific as the "Bride who ran" and Zont is the perfect hero for her, even though Amelia is convinced that she does not want or need a mate. What I like best about this second book in the series is the way the author starts to broaden the way in which Zont views the Alien Bride Lottery - initially he only sees it as a way for his species to continue since the Swarm destroyed most of the females on his planet. As Amelia and Zont escape from the Swarm attackers and Amelia saves his life, Zont begins to understand that asking women to leave behind their careers, family and friends is more significant than he had thought. For her part, Amelia discovers that her preconceptions about the aliens are wrong - Zont respects her knowledge and skill, is caring, supportive and willing to accept her decisions even if the decision Amelia makes is harmful to him. I am looking forward to seeing how this theme develops in future books!

This is a new author to me & I thoroughly enjoyed reading each & every page of this highly entertaining, fast-paced Sci-fi alien romance. The storyline flows smoothly throughout an exceptionally well-written plot that has good world building & excellent scene descriptions. The main characters are strong-willed individuals with good chemistry between them but each has their own agenda & a determination to succeed in their personal goal.
It is about: a rather large elite Khanavai warrior (Zont Lanov) discovers that his mate, a feisty young female surgeon (Amelia River) was so determined to escape her inevitable future that she did the unthinkable & manages to go on the run only to be later caught by Zont who is just as determined to take her to the Bride Lottery so that he can claim her but there is danger on the horizon.
There is: twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, humor, adventure, action, fated mates, Bride Treaties, bounty hunters, despicable aliens (Alveron Hordes), danger, threats, attacks, enemies, defiance, distrust, confrontations, conflict, injuries, unexpected help, manipulations, compromises, steamy scenes, contentment, love & a happy conclusion for this couple with an interesting ending. I look forward to future books in this series with great anticipation & would recommend this book.

I am loving this series!

We get a flashback to book 1 where we learn of Amelia running and Zont and Cav meeting the brides. Zont already believes Amelia is the one for him and takes action to find her. He compiles a team and heads to Earth.

Amelia is not prepared to leave her life and become a bride to an alien. She has worked too hard to become a surgeon and doesn't believe the propaganda that the human brides are magically happy living lives they never even thought were possible. So she cuts out her tracker and runs.

Zont's pursuit becomes complicated as others are now hunting Amelia and corner her first. He has an even bigger problem- the tracker also served as a translator. Amelia now has no idea what Zont is saying to her. I loved the way they work through their communication difficulties. It adds so much to the story.

Just like in a human relationship, Amelia and Zont are forced to analyze their feelings and fears. Are they willing to give up on the chance to be together? Will they take the leap?

Wonderful appearances from several characters from book 1 add to this story as well.

This is a story I look forward to reading over and over.

I am over the moon with the teaser for book 3 at the end - we get a taste of how the General met his mate.

I received an advanced copy of this story for an honest review.

Not satisfied with the way in which women were treated by aliens and fearing a luck that would rob her of her independence, Amelia Rivers fled. The warrior Zont already knew what she was to him and was ready for the challenge that Amelia represented. But he wasn't the only one interested and keeping the woman safe, gaining her trust, and getting her want him was taking a toll on him. Amelia didn't trust and didn't want anything to do with aliens. To her they were terrible, unable to understand human women treating them as property and ready to manhandle them. She was a surgeon and her decision of becoming a fugitive had been abrupt, leaving behind all that was dear for her. She was realizing it would cost he a lot and even more when her safety depended on what she was running from. Liked Zont character with his strong protective traits, struggling with his feelings, his sense of rightness, ready to sacrifice and his special surprise that had me intrigued. After not having think things further at first, Amalia seemed to understand the meaning of her situation and indulge herself in Zont's ways. Action, suspense, amusing situations, romance, and an interesting and heated passion. Voluntarily reviewed this entertaining book that I enjoyed and received free from Booksprout.

I read the first Alien Bride Lottery book and instantly fell in love with the world-building and unique plot. Obviously I was eager for the second book to come out. Let me explain that both stories are completely stand alone and you don't have to read the first book to understand what's going on in the second one. In this installment, Amelia is a runaway from the whole lottery system because she's a successful woman surgeon who doesn't want to throw her life away and get carted off to an unknown alien planet. The majority of the story follows Amelia as she's on the run, and it really gets good once Zonk catches up to her. As the alien warrior attempts to woo his lady and keep them both safe from harm, the reader falls for him too. The story was fast paced with action, romance, and characters you wanted to root for. It concludes with a satisfying ending. Highly recommended second installment of the series that will leave readers eager for more from Margo Bond collins. I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down!

Action packed, fast paced with some humorous moments and overall a very entertaining alien romance. Amelia is a surgeon and she refuses to become someone's bride and mating with them regardless of what the propaganda and the government calls for, so she goes on the run. She is independent, smart, sassy and not afraid and I loved her strong character.

When Zont sees her picture and feels connected with her, he knows she is his mate and he joins the hunt for her but things don't exactly go as planned when bounty hunters and the Alveron Hordeships join the search. The language barrier between Zont and Amelia has some very funny results and moments. I loved how she disagreed with the offering of women and then once attacked she realizes why the lottery is so important as that clears up a lot for the readers as well.

There is great chemistry between Zont and Amelia and their characters are well developed with depth and growth and an realistic array of emotions and actions. This is a fun, sweet read and I recommend the book.

"...even if his skin was one of the boring darker shades on the beige-to-brown spectrum that humans tended toward."

as a white girl this made me alllllllll sorts of uncomfortable. if i was one of those "darker shades" I would be livid and slamming this book closed and leaving a review that screamed F. U. I don't know the author, I cant guess on whether or not this author meant it in the way it comes across, I don't even know the authors skin tone but I would be doing everything I could to get this bit deleted. Reads racist. Like SUPES racist. BTW, I am well aware that an "alien" is making this statement BUT the author chose to not just state that ALL our colors are boring but SPECIFICALLY that the darker shades are. I won't be reading anything else from the author.

It feels like such a small thing in the wide range of things but representation in all aspects of our lives matter. Small things, subversive things, matter. "accidental" racism isnt less hurtful than blatant racism. SO I speak up, because I should. Because it matters. Thats all.
