Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.

In the end, all I learned was how to be strong. Alone.

Lincoln is a former Navy Seal, hiding away in the mountains in Oregon. He wants to live his life away from people. He's happy on his own, preferring the peace and quiet. Yet, the demons from his past still haunt him...

One day out, he comes across Pearl—a young woman is on a solo hiking adventure—who injures herself badly and needs his help. Her injury and a snow storm force her to hole up with him in his tiny cabin.

Things heat up between them, but he never reveals who he really is and why he lives on his own.

Can Lincoln control his desire or will he allow the ghosts of the past to catch up with him?

Close to the Ridge, book one in the Mountain Millionaire series follows hiking enthusiast Pearl Thomas and ex Navy Seal Lincoln Blake. Pearl has been hiking with her dad, but since his death when she was a teenager, she feels more connected to him when she’s hiking. Blake has been living out on the mountains, and when he runs into Pearl, he tries to warn her of an impending storm to which her reply is one full of attitude. Since night is approaching, she decides to stay in the mountains since it would be dangerous for her to hike back alone. Will Pearl be caught in the upcoming storm? Or will Blake risk it and go back and check on her to help her?

Over all the story line was good. Kept me interested enough to finish. There was an alarming amount of typos and grammatical errors. That doesn’t sit right with me. Also some parts seemed too rushed, especially certain parts of the dialog. I think a little more time could have been spent painting the scenes and backdrops as well as describing certain moment and feelings. The smutty parts were just okay, those were very rushed and I wish they had been slowed down and described better. I will continue to at least the next one though because it was left on a cliff hanger

Intense

Awesome read. Adventure in the woods and danger lurking also. A soldier staying under the radar and a young unsuspecting photographer get a chance meeting on the trail and words are said. Later soldier has to check to make sure she's safe and finds her on a ledge over cliff. A sprained foot later a nd a few nights in a cabin and sparks start flying. She finally gets to leave the mountain and he finds himself under siege and finds out their going for her, so what's he to do but leave his cabin on the mountain and go get her and go on the run to keep her safe.

To start off with this book is so good I finished it within 24 hours of getting it. This book has alot of actions, a suprising twist and romance. The main hero is all badass while the heroine is just what he needs to rethink his life. Two thumbs way up for this book and author. Can not wait to read more by her.
I recieved an arc for honest review.

Secrets and steamy situations put together all in one cabin in the forest. Then it turns deadly... thee end. Would of preferred a different ending, but because this is not a stand alone novel its leaves you hanging! I would prefer a book that ended well before it moved on to the next part in the story but it does not how ever.

Great story line. Action, drama, and some romance.

Loved Lincoln. Reclusive, strong, and protective. Didn't care too much for Pearl. She was somewhat whiney and acted like she was better. She needed to learn to accept help when in danger.

Wish I knew it ended in a cliffy. Debating on finishing it or not.

I had low expectations from this book but throughout the book I started to get more into the story and understand the characters, both sides are well written and the development is great. Would totally recommend reading it if you like sort of mystery stories that develop great relationships between characters and have some spicy smut in between moments

Got some heat, some adventure, mayhem, and finally leaves you hanging.

Well enough written, I just hate cliffhangers. Interesting shot at understanding PTSD, and story follows the old adage; just because you're paranoid does not mean someone is not after you.

Pearl is doing what she loves hiking and photography. She is trying a new trail when she comes across Lincoln, he tells her to leave because of an upcoming storm. When when ends up falling and rescues her. What happens next is the beginning of everything.

This was an interesting read. Written well, good characters, suspense, emotions, banter, ups and downs and an interesting plot. Great for passing time or something to read. I didn't pay attention when I read the description but this is a cliffhanger. I would like to read the rest. Enjoy!

Read this because I needed a free book on my old iPad. It kept my attention enough for a vacation read but I couldn't care less what happens to these two characters to read the sequels. Poorly written and just an overall weird plot.

COVID read. Quick. Free from iBooks. Spicy scenes could use more descriptions. Time jumped around a bit. One paragraph it’s breakfast and the next is the middle of the night. Won’t read the rest.

Quick Paced Story

This is a irritated to danger to love story that has a recluse letting someone in only to have to go out on limb to protect that person a couple of times.

This was a good story, but the ending was ruined for me because of the cliffhanger. I absolutely hate cliffhangers from the bottom of my heart. I can not stand them. Ugh.

I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read it instead of the apple generated AI voice... And that it didn't end on a cliffhanger! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I wish it could’ve been just one longer but I can understand why it’s broken up. Not everyone wants a thick book like me
