It's easy to fall in love with this magical short story. Not only does it have the enchanting atmosphere of a fairytale, it's also funny and unexpectedly recognizable. I loved the interactions between Blair and Cinnamon as of the beginning, and when I finished the story, I had a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. Sounds cheesy, but in this case, it was actually true. This witchy romance just made me swoon (and the unicorn made me laugh out loud). And the illustrations <3 These are so, so very beautiful. I cannot wait to read more by this author/illustrator duo!

LGBTQ+ fairytales might just be my new favourite genre now!

Originally, I wasn't sure if I should buy this book, since it is not very long and the story seemed to be exactly what one imagines from the description.
And both of that is true, but I am now very happy I got it (I even have it signed by the author and illustrator from a convention)!

The illustrations are super pretty, the characters are really adorable and it's a very cute feel-good princess/witch romance for inbetween.

What can I say, this book is very personal and very important to me. It's a brilliant short story that's wonderfully silly and light-hearted and yet manages to, at the same time, talk about important and deep issues without dragging the overall air of the story down. The characters are relatable and dramatic and funny and an absolute blast to read about, and there are unicorns and queer people and ridiculous names. It made me incredibly happy while reading, and it has a special place in my bookshelf and in my heart, and I will be forever grateful for my fantastic friend Cindy for gifting it to me.

This is the first book I've read by this author, first book (if I recall correctly) I've sponsored on Kickstarter, second f/f romance I've read this year, and second physical book I've read this year.

A quick short fantasy story about Cinnamon & Blair, from the point of view of Blair told within a thin hard cover illustrated book. Blair's a witch and Cinnamon's a super attractive woman everyone lusts after. Including Blair - who has lusted after Cinnamon since she moved in. Not that they've ever communicated with each other. Not that Blair would ever believe Cinnamon would want to talk to her. Except one day they do talk.

Cinnamon strolls up one day and asks for Blair's services. She wants Blair to make for her the type of potion on the front cover of this book, the title of this book - a love potion. I mention all of this because that's how the book starts and that's what the book is about - Blair & Cinnamon hunting down ingredients (makes the love potion stronger if Cinnamon collects the ingredients personally).

I'm not exactly sure what age group the book was for, though I enjoyed it well enough. I probably would have liked it somewhat more I was slightly (or more than slightly) younger. As is, while I liked the book, I did not like it enough to give a top rating to the book.

Rating: 4.5

An absolutely lovely story!

Love Potion is about a witch, Blair and a princess, Cinnamon and their journey to love. Between the beautiful illustrations adding a magickal touch and the story itself, I couldn't help but smile the whole way through this witchy book! And, Blair's companions, Ob and Zog are just the best - I loved them!

An overall gorgeous book, inside and out. Definitely recommend picking this one up if you're seeking an illustrated queer, feel-good fairytale. This will be a book I treasure for a very long time. 💜

Aan u allen die deze review op de tijdlijn zien,
ga dit eens even heel snel lezen. Like, nu!

This was such an incredibly cute read!!
I supported this book through Kickstarter and had already fallen in love with the amazing work that both Cindy and Renée deliver! I loved the pining and the romance and the diverse situations in this short yet full story!
The drawings were wonderful and a great addition without being either easily forgettable or too overwhelming.

I loved the little clarifying sentences in brackets and I loved all of the characters so much!

Also a little side note; even though this person says only a handful of things (and nothing too meaningful) I’m obsessed with Daybreak Dayblossom hahhaha.

I finallllllly got to read this story after hours and hours looking at the pages on screen, trying not to read a word 😂 and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! It’s super cute, fairytale-like and it restores faith in humanity. The illustrations by Renée are absolutely wonderful and make the story come to life even more. I feel honored to be asked to help with the book design and I’m so very proud of how it turned out :3

This was such a lovely short story about a witch and a princess! While it doesn’t take itself seriously at most times (I looooved some of the subtle references hihi) it also has it’s more serious moments giving the characters a bit of a backstory even though the book is so short. Because of this I could feel for the main character! It just has a beautiful message and will make you feel all cozy. Paired with the beautiful illustrations this made my reader and artist brain very happy!

Such a cute story. Bought this at Tomofair and finished it the same day. It's a relatively short story, but the characters are built well. Absolutely love it!

I already read this book when it was out in the simple paperback form and immediately loved this cute short love story between the witch and the princess. When this book became available as a hardcover with illustrations I thus knew I needed to add it to my collection asap. This new edition is just sooo amazingly beautiful. Foil on the hardcover and such pretty drawings by Renée! They really help to bring the story to life even more.

Please everyone just go read this amazing gem if you love magical and sweet LGBT love stories!

Love Potion is one of those books that you know you'll read over and over again because it is just so enchanting! It is a heart warming fairy tale that will make you fall in love with the characters, the story and the world it takes place in.
The characters all come across as so human and real. It's refreshing to read casual mentions of being bloated, for instance. It brings depth in such a short story. One of the characters is a unicorn with the best name I've ever read or heard of for any equine species but I don't want to spoil it so you'll have to read it yourself.
The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and I love how this book plays with the witchy goth gf/softie pink loving gf trope. I think that has quickly become of my favourites. The entire world is so charming and I have a mighty need to live there!

🌈🧙‍♀️ LOVE POTION by Cindy Paul 🧙‍♀️🌈
I bought this book on Kickstarter last year (very exciting and new for me) and finally received my copy last week! Of course, I couldn't wait to read it so I picked it up straight away.
The story in this graphic novel follows Cinnamon, a princess, and Blair, a witch, as they fall in love whilst collecting ingredients for and brewing a love potion. I can't tell you anything more, because I would be spoiling too much.
It was a very lovely and cute story. I was expecting a YA-graphic novel, but I do think that this would be better for an even younger audience. I also loved the illustrations by Renée Zonneveld.

Stunning and lovely, I loved this story. Blair, the witch is an entertaining character and I loved that the story takes place from her point of view.

I was one of the kick starters for this book, as I fell in love with the artwork. So pleased to see the artwork is throughout the book, with small pictures on pages to full page illustrations.

Certainly will keep an eye out for more stories from both the author and illustrator.

The perfect fairytale story! Love it so much! I wish that it was longer, was not ready to let the characters go so I am most probably going to reread this a hundred times before the year is over

One of the illustrations in the book features a design that says “life is short, make it sweet” and that is exactly what describes this story. It’s a short, sweet, wlw story. Such a lovely breath of fresh air especially with current events in the world. Absolutely lovely! 💕🌸

Mixed emotions but the imagery pulled this up to a 3 star read.

Firstly this is clearly for a younger teen audience, which is great because finding sapphic reads in that age bracket is a nightmare.

However the story is nothing new at all, and the writing is pretty meh and stunted. I came out of it knowing nothing much about either character.

The imagery however is stunning, the illustration is so ethereal and every page is completely covered in art. I think this would have worked better as a graphic novel perhaps.

I do think some of the side creature characters are towing the line of falling into some antisemitic tropes… and really they didn’t add anything to the story.

Overall I wasn’t wowed by the story at all but the artwork definitely is captivating.

TW’s listed below, please skip if you don’t want spoilers.

Tw// vague antisemitic tropes woven through the creature characters, death of a loved one, themes of drugging (potions.)
