Jen has always dreamed of seeing her byline above an exclusive scoop, but will her big career chance destroy the love of her life? For as long as she can remember, Jen Seaton has had the biggest and most inconvenient crush on Eddie O’Neill. When Jen meets local newspaper editor Tristan Trueluck, it looks like she’s finally going to get her first real journalistic break. The notorious Drafter Brothers are rumoured to be at the root of the local drug supply, and Tristan wants an investigative writer on the case.
Eager to impress her potential new employer, Jen is determined to write the tell-all exclusive that breaks the story. But Eddie seems to think Jen shouldn’t be getting involved. Is he trying to protect her? Or is it because the more Jen finds out about the Drafter Brothers, the more Eddie’s name seems linked to their shady business?
To make matters worse, Eddie seems more irresistible every day.He couldn’t really be involved in crime...could he?
Soaked Hay & Farrier Smoke is the first book in the Smoke & Mirrors series.Pre-order book #2 Soaked Hay & Stable Mirrors on Amazon today!
This is the first book that I have reviewed over the years where the title has quite literally blown me away. Not only does it just roll of the tongue, but, it’s catchy, too. As there will be other books available in this series (Smoke & Mirrors), things can only get better.
I’m not overly surprised to find that they do get better, within the book, I mean, or perhaps matches up to the expectation. Have you ever read a book that could only have been written about you, or so you believe? It’s how I feel about Soaked Hay & Farrier Smoke. So many factors in this novel struck a chord with me, it’s truly unbelievable. The story is written in a light-hearted way with plenty of witty banter, as well as romantic liaisons, frustrations, intrique, jealousy, horses and, not forgetting, the writing.
The author, F.W. Rider is clearly onto a winner with this series. It’s a perfect addition to anyone’s library and is one of those books, you just can’t put down. Readers are definitely in for a treat when the next addition to the series finally arrives.
Super sexy hero? YES Strong, sassy heroine? YES Plenty of heat? YOU BET
I absolutely loved this book!
Being an equestrian gal myself I kind of have a thing for farriers. I mean, come on! They're almost always hot! And those muscles! *Drools* But I have never been able to actually find a romance novel with a farrier in. I have always just settled for other types of RN's . . . until now!
I just completely fell in love with Eddie. And I can assure you that you most likely will, too!
Also, it doesn't hurt that there's plenty of horsey scenes in this novella (and the second one) to satisfy the equestrian-or horse loving-readers out there.
Cleverly written to open up the horse world to all readers who enjoy a good plot or a good romp. This has as much steam as a horseshoe when being fixed on a hoof! Part one of two.
