Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
Liberty is the first book that I've read by Delilah Mohan and it won't be the last. I highly enjoyed this vampire reverse harem, I read it in one sitting and I can't wait to see where the series goes.
The characters surprised me in this one, while Liberty seems like your average girl, she is independent, knows the dangers of the world, and is very witty. She is your average girl with the exception that she is taking the news of the supernatural being real very well, I understand the reason why but other than that she seems like a relatable and likable character, especially with all her quick and sassy comebacks that she gives the guys.
As for the guys, every single one of them is vampires, this is a vampire story the cover can tell you that but the guys aren't what I expected. They seem more human than any other vampire I have read, watched, or heard about. They work, one is flashy, the other two are laid back, they do everyday human things and have a very human outlook on everything, it was kinda trippy but in a good way. Oak, Ellis, and Sterling all have their issues and they fight like cats and dogs but they come together for Liberty. I wish I had a better understanding of why their friendship stayed broken after all this time, I mean what occurred happened a very long time ago and wasn't even worth the animosity now so what kept them apart?
They are also a little slower to pick-up things than I am used to, characters in books are always described or implied as smart, quick-witted, or brainy but these three couldn't pull clues together that was staring them in the face, I felt that reaction was more realistic, like when you yell at the screen (be it movie or television) at a character cause come on you picked up on that within five seconds, so that was both irritating and entertaining.
The story has a good twist on the vampire story, all though the really good plot twist didn't occur until the end of the book. Of course, there were gonna be attacks, this is an urban fantasy but the attacks were interesting, they aren't used that much and with one in that context, so I enjoyed those. I do wish there was more magic represented and maybe more vampire lore being told but it's the beginning of the series so there might be more.
Overall Liberty was quick and entertaining, I enjoyed the characters and the storyline held my interest. After the plot twist that happened at the end of the book, I am expecting a very interesting read with Justice, the next book in the series.
