This isn't a love story. This is a story of all the reasons we can't be together. Reason number one: we lie.
Liesel Dunn has a secret. One I literally ripped from her hands when we were kids. Her secret was in a letter that I tore in half. I have half the secret. She has the other half. We've always refused to share our part of the truth, so we've lived separate lives. Until fate brings us back together. She needs a hitman. I answer her call. I'll do her this favor. But she'll owe me a debt. And I plan on collecting...

4/5 BRAD! Arranged marriage/ mafia trope. Beginngjn was so confusing ? This is not for BRAD beginners. Also can BRAD writers stop with the 18- year old girl thing? It makes us all feel weird
Vicious Lies is definitely not a love story. This story is full of anger, hostility and hate but definitely not love. The hidden story is complicated and complex, just when you believe the answers are coming more lies and untruths are spat out, always keeping the truth hidden and evasive. Liesel and Langston are definitely fated to be together, whether it will be as friends, lovers or enemies their destiny is intertwined until the last breath. I can’t wait to read more of their story.
GAH! THESE TWO! Forget being the death of each other. They're going to be the death of me! They tell more lies than truths but in every lie is some truth. The trick is determining which part is which and half of the time I'm unable to decipher it.
The cliffhanger leaves all kinds of questions and I suspect some won't be revealed for a few books. Have I mentioned that I'm impatient and hate cliffhangers? Ok, Ms. Miles, bring on the next installment! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book had me gripped, in fact, I think I was gripped when I read the prologue book but starting this took me on a huge journey. let me start off by telling you about the characters.
Liesel, oh my god this woman is strong she has been through hell and back yet still survived if I tell you exactly what she has been through it would ruin parts of the story and I seriously don't want to do that but put it this way think of the worst possible thing she could have been through and she has been through more but Liesel is a master lier, she will lie to save her self, lie to hurt and lie kill.
Langston is a brute of a man, heartless or so we think. mean nasty and a killer. he kills anything and anyone and he will do it exactly how he pleases without a care in the world for. the more brutal the better for him but just like Liesel he is a liar and one of the best he lies to hide his secrets and his feelings but he lies to get what he wants.
the reality of this story is it is dark and you will not predict anything that happens in it. every time you think you have a hold on it something happens and you are completely gobsmacked not having a clue what is next. When Langston Kidnapped Liesel it brought a whole new side to the story yet true to its title those vicious lies are what they use to hurt each other to try and get any way into finding out the truth of what they both really want and need.
Ella Oh My God that ending completely threw me I did not expect it one tiny bit and now I need more, I need the next book to know how this continues because this is just absolutely incredible. the words and descriptions you have used are entrancing and just amazing.
As children Langston and Liesel were kindred spirits who were drawn to each other who both had to mature before it should have been necessary. They have seen the dark side of life which only made them stronger and they share deep secrets but when reality comes crashing down these friends will become adversaries.
Years later fate brings Langston and Liesel back into each other’s lives. Liesel is a successful lawyer however that is only a small part of who she is while Langston is a contract killer who enjoys his job. They are each other’s fatal flaw and Langston is determined to expose all of Liesel’s lies and ensure she knows the consequences of telling any mistruths. So much intrigue and so many surprises lead to a cliffhanger that leaves us wondering what the future holds for this couple.
Strand two characters (Liesel & Langston) on an island and let them slowly play a game of Cat & Mouse. Both trying to uncover the truth in the years if lies between the two of them. Then include plenty of sexual tension and that kind of sums up this book except its so much better than that. Liesel & Langston tell each other so many lies in this book that even the reader (me) cant work out whats real and whats not? So now i have way more unanswered questions than i had before & whats with that ending? Just knockout!! Im absolutely loving this series and im dying for the next book
Come into this prepared to be thrown for a loop. What we think is happening is not. There are past hurts and triggers between the characters and that had me on edge and the tension sky high. But story gripped me and didn't let me go until the end. There is so much darkness and hurt and lies but also attraction and passion and I can't wait for the next book.
Wow!! Ella has done it again. This is now my new favorite series. This book left me on the edge of my seat in awe. Liesel and Langston are definitely liars but so much more. It does end on a cliffhanger so beware when you read this one. Cannot wait for the next one.

This is book 1 in this series which features characters that we first met in another of this author’s series. What can I say about this book? It’s awesome! Liesel and Langston have a connection, they may not always like it, but they are connected. There is so much mystery, suspense and drama in this book.

An edge-of-your-seat love/hate story that began in the prologue Lies We Share and continues in Vicious Lies. It's packed with attraction, secrets, lies, lust, suspense, heartache, gut-wrenching moments and ends on a cliffhanger.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
After reading the prequel, I was excited about starting this book, but it really took a while to get into. I enjoyed it in the end, but it seemed to really drag on.
Romanian reader right here. Firstly, Liesel is a fighter , greetings for her. Secondly, i hate this Langston from all my heart. If I could be there to save Liesel , i ' ve would kill this mf. In the end , with all my madness and my mental breakdown cause of this unexpected ending , i give 4⭐ to this book. Still wait to read the second book.
Fans Of The Truth Or Lies And The Sinful Truths Series Will Be Thrilled To Finally Read Langston And Liesel’s Dark Story. It Takes Love/Hate To New Levels. Ends In A Gut-Clenching Cliffhanger!
This is book one in the Lies series, the long-awaited story of Langston and Liesel. A short prologue, Lies We Share, precedes it but is optional. There is also a bonus scene that follows Broken Anchor of the Sinful Truths series which features the couple and leads into the series. This series also includes: Desperate Lies, Fated Lies, Cruel Lies, Dangerous Lies, and Endless Lies.
The Lies series is a spin-off of the Truth or Lies series and the Sinful Truths series. Enzo, Zeke, and Langston have been friends since youth. They began training to work for the notorious Mr. Black while other kids were more concerned about making the football team or attending a dance. Killers all, their friendship has helped them weather the dangers that they face.
In the Truth or Lies series, Enzo Black has to be cruel to be kind to Katherine Miller. Despite it all, Katherine begins to fall for him only to discover that it was all lies. Their tumultuous relationship has you at the edge of your seat.
In the Sinful Truths series, Zeke Kane is rescued from certain death in the Caribbean by a siren. But when they cross paths again, he discovers that the mysterious Aria Torres, a.k.a. Siren, has a few tricks up her sleeve. He meets his match in Siren, who had lured him into a trap. He struggles to keep his family – Enzo and Kai – safe, and he hopes to save Siren, too, in this angsty and cruel game.
In the Truth or Lies and the Sinful Truths series, it had become increasingly clear that there is tension between Langston and Liesel. They are like water and oil, but there is sexual tension as well at times. No explanation has been given, but it all points to something from the past. The prologue to the Lies series tells the early part of their story.
Each book in these series reads like a roller coaster, with unexpected gut-clenching twists and turns. The characters live in a brutal world. Every time the couples cross paths or begin to drop their defenses, something seems to pull them apart. There are many questions and many lies, but answers do come with patience. The books in each series are best read back to back since the plot is very complex.
In Lies We Share:
Langston Pearce, five, has a troubled childhood. He has learned how minimize the abuse he receives, but the empty cupboards do nothing to satisfy the hunger that eats at him. The dirty little girl across the street captures his attention, however, and helping her hunt for a spider leads to a friendship that helps them both through their difficult lives. They become best friends, and they lean on one another for everything. She is the huntress, he the killer. And whenever things get tough, they get through it together.
Liesel in unafraid, and she doesn’t play the damsel in distress. Her father left her and her mother when she was three, and they live in a rough neighborhood where children typically see, hear, and experience things at far too young an age for their tender minds. She and the boy from across the street become fast friends, and she suggests a pact. She will hunt for him, and he will kill for her. Even in their youth, they both instinctively understand that one day their hunting and killing will involve human life. They agree to this unbreakable vow. And should either break it, the other gets to take or demand anything.
At his young age, Langston feels a protective instinct for Liesel. He imagines their futures linked. But events that occur a few years later blow up all he believed in, and their lives go separate ways. When circumstances bring Langston back in to Liesel’s life, she doesn’t consider herself lucky. She doesn’t want anything to do with the boy that once meant everything to her. But their lives are intrinsically linked, for better or worse. He doesn’t seem happy to see her either, and a truce of sorts is reached. But when difficult times arise, their instincts overcome the hatred that typically colors their feelings for one another. This book ends in cliffhanger.
In this book:
Liesel Dunn left Miami and her old life behind years ago. She needs control, and Miami was the wrong place for that. She had accepted that it was never meant to be with Enzo; Kai was his future. She and Kai even developed a friendship. She continued to see her friends on occasion, but began to separate herself from the group. When Zeke paired off with Siren, the pressure on her and Langston to settle their long-lived contentious relationship turned up. Their friends all somehow believed that underneath the heated bickering simmered unresolved sexual tension. But their friends never knew how it all started. She and Langston had been lying to one another for most of their lives. The lies go so deep that it is impossible to untangle the truth from all the lies. And she and Langston both hold their truths dear. Should Langston learn her truths, it would destroy him.
Liesel’s life in Miami had changed her from the princess she had once been to an evil queen. She didn’t like it, so she left. By tuning out her heart, she can maintain control. But what her friends don’t know is that she never left the underworld. She disappeared for a few years, trying to hide from the danger that seeks her. But Liesel didn’t know how to live a quiet life. She then opted to hide in plain site in New York City, where she built up her newly resurrected career as an attorney and chose to never let a man control her again. Even though danger still searches for her, there is almost nothing that causes fear in her. Not after what she already endured. Langston, though, terrifies her. Only he can make her feel weak and powerless. Only he can throw her off her efforts to get the answers she has sought for years.
Langston Pearce heads security for the Black organization and has killed more men than Enzo and Zeke combined. He is a master of technology, and there is little he cannot find with a computer. He has continued his spiral into darkness even after his friends welcomed him back. He had betrayed them all, though. He doesn’t deserve their trust. With the Black organization now ruling the seas without a serious threat, he doesn’t find the release that comes from battle on the job. He has thus taken up work as an assassin as a means to quench his need for blood. Time is running out, and the answers that he and Liesel have successfully avoided until now must soon come out. She isn’t the same person she once was. He would have protected that girl. But he won’t hesitate to kill this Liesel to get the answers he needs.
Langston and Liesel embark on a game of truths when he learns the answers they both seek can no longer be avoided. He demands her truths, and in exchange he promises her more time. Should she lie, however, he will punish her. He knows how much she has already endured in her life and that very little scares her anymore. He knows how far he must take things for her punishments to have any real effect. She thinks that her truths will hurt him, but what she doesn’t know is that it is her lies that will hurt him most. But regardless of how many lies she tells, he is determined that they will finally settle what they have so successfully avoided for years. He wants her to fight back, and in doing so, he plans to finally destroy her.
Langston and Liesel’s contemptuous story is a slow burn decades in the making. It takes love/hate to new levels. Their first kiss at age eight had been a beautiful and innocent moment. Their young dreams of a lifetime of friendship shattered the next day, however, putting them at odds in all the years since. Their vow has occasionally brought them together, where she is the huntress and he the killer. But otherwise they have waivered between ignoring one another and arguing. The tension is palpable, but at this point in their relationship it is clear that the scales have tipped more toward hate than love. Their secrets have literally been tearing them apart – both in physical distance and internally. Both have difficulty spending time with their family, their friends, because it forces them to see just how much their lies have changed them. Coming face to face, though, brings it own brand of torture. This book ends in a gut-clenching cliffhanger that will change everything.
There are some issues that merit mention. Trigger warning: some subjects may be difficult for sensitive readers. Additionally, numerous discrepancies exist between this book and the prologue, Lies We Share, as well as the two previous series. It is very confusing for fans that follow and pay attention to the details. Issues related to timing arise. Some events and relationships are altered as well. At this point the story is easy enough to get immersed in that it is worthwhile overlooking these issues.
This first book in this dark series opens with an intense showdown that promises to keep readers captivated until the end with all the angst and surprises they have come to expect. Painful events come to light, and both Langston and Liesel must battle the deep bonds that cause their underlying chemistry as well as the animosity that clouds their feelings for one another. Their story is well-written and plot-driven. The characters are carefully crafted. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Langston and Liesel, with the prologue in her father’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest voluntary review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**
This took me a while to get into. There's so much history between these two--especially if you have read the previous two series they are found in--but I felt like I had to leave what I knew at the door and start over since there is so much we didn't know about their past. As the story progressed and their walls started to come down, I could see the the story was building into something more.
I like dark romances but all the mentioning of rape and being forced-on was just too much for me. I get the importance of it for understanding Liesel's past but for a few chapters there, the threats of it were constant and that just stopped me from fully embracing the story.
Once we moved away from that and focused on the game at play, I started to warm up to the idea of where this is going. The setup reminds me a lot of Truth or Lies where there is this master plan in place but the leads don't really know the rules of how to play so it keeps you on your toes as a reader.
Oh me…. WOW…. It gets better and better! And, I need to know what on earth is going on. What really is the truth, the whole truth, not the half truth?
This book is something else. You think you know these people, after all we’ve grown up with them in the other books, but who are they … really? You think you have it all figured out and ten pages later everything changes. Nothing is what it seems…. or is it? We just don’t know.
I loved Langston in the past books but began to see a darker side to him in Zeke and Siren’s story. Here, in his story with Liesel, he is even darker, much more complex and perplexing. Just WHO is Langston? What is driving him to be this way? What are his secrets? And, really, what role does Phoenix play here … truth or lie?
And Liesel …. what are those nightmares all about? What about Waylon? Does he know anything. I have a hard time believing he’s clueless.
❓🧐❓ QUESTIONS & PONDERINGS:
🔎 Hmmmm, just how could Langston kiss Liesel like that if he loved someone else? Pay attention to his self talk, it’s important. There are a lot of clues to be gleaned if we keep looking 🔎
🎲 I almost gave up in the first half of the book. I couldn’t handle seeing Langston being a cold-blooded, no conscience, a$$hole. So glad I didn’t. There are many sides to Langston, now we have to figure out the real Langston. 🎲
💋As for Liesel, I never formed a connection to her in the past reads. Ahhhh, but here, she’s growing on me. I’m seeing very different sides of her now. I’m seeing her cockiness is a survival tool and her strength was built from her pain. Her manipulations are her defense. 💋
💍 And last but not least …. wedding bells rang … truth or lie? We’ll have to wait to find out and I hope it’s fast…. there’s so much I NEED to know💍

Let me buy some more kindles first because if the cliffhanger of the first book of the Lies series almost made me throw my kindle then I can't imagine what the other books of this series will make me do, it was that awesome!
We're in Langston & Liesel's story where we learn how their relationship changed throughout the years- childhood, teenage, adulthood. (In case you've missed their childhood & a bit of teenage, read the novella- Lies We Share: A prologue).
Langston is the vicious man who's used to the darkness, enjoys the feeling after killing and only wants Liesel, maybe for her body or maybe for the other part of the truth.
Liesel once the princess is now the ice queen and is in the run to become the evil queen. Hurt her once, she forgives, hurt her twice, she hunts.
The twisty, complicated love/hate relationship is like no other. Both Langston & Liesel have so much intensity and fire between them that they can either burn the entire world to the ground or together rise over the world. There's desperation for the truth, the constant game of lies, painful past, strong personalities and sparks, too many sparks.
As always, Ella Miles kept me in suspense, letting me hang on every single word, allowing me think of various theories, keeping me on the edge of my seat, probably waiting for me to fall (which I almost did) and at the end just blowing my mind.
I guess I'm more desperate for the second book than Langston is for the truth.

Vicious Lies is the first book in the Lies series by Ella Miles. This series is a spin-off of the Truth and Lies series and the Sinful Truths series. If you have not read these other series then you can read Lies as a stand-alone series but if you have then you will already know a bit about Langston Pearce and Liesel Dunn. This book sets-up the series in a masterful way. Both Langston and Liesel hold a lot of lies that they have told each other and also themselves. Both have a darkness in them that they cannot escape but each handles it differently. Now that Enzo has Kai and Zeke has Siren that leaves Langston and Liesel as the only singles from the group who grew up together and share things which no child ever should. Langston and Liesel are like fire and gasoline, they set each other off into a roaring fire. They bicker incessantly when they are together but that might hint at something else.
This book is well written and has a mesmerizing and all immersive story-line. It is dark, filled with suspense, twists and turns. The characters are nicely developed but hard to define yet as there are a lot of things to be revealed as both their lies are uncovered. This book does end with a cliffhanger so be prepared, as you will need to read the next book. But it will be so worth it if you invest your time in reading another wonderful Ella Miles series.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I read the series about Enzo and Kai and the one about Zeke and Siren so I'm familiar with this author's work. I know she ends each book in the series with a cliffhanger. I also knew this series about Langston and Liesel would not be a light beach read. I was sent Advance Reader Copies and waited until I had all the books in the series before starting it. I didn't want to be left hanging on that cliff, dangling by my fingernails while waiting for the next book. In truth, I knew this would be dark and had to work up to it before starting the series.
I expected this series to be full of violence, hate, conflicted feelings, resentment, lies and maybe a little love. The first book is as I expected. Full of misdirection and partial information, at times I wanted to just get to the end of the book. I thought I would read the series straight through, but felt I needed something a little lighter after this first book. I'll read something else then tackle the next book in the series.
I assumed that deep down, Langston and Liesel love each other and this is just a dance to get to a relationship but now I'm not sure. In the other series, especially the Zeke and Siren one, there were times I just wanted to shake them both. In this one, I want to just tell them to stop the lies. The author tends to drag things out to make it a series and this book could probably be about half as long. It did keep me interested and I will read the next book, I just have to mentally prepare for a dark story with suffering, not happiness. Twists and turns are included.
A cryptic message, inquiring about needing a hitman who won’t be doing the hit, surfaces in a mercenary magazine, signed by “The Huntress.” Only one man answers the ad; Langston dubbed Liesel “The Huntress” when they were just kids. Liesel is a powerful lawyer with a powerful boyfriend, Waylon, and they share an amazing relationship.
Liesel can always tell when Langston is near because she gets goosebumps every time. Langston takes the job, which is to occur in 5 days. Liesel wants to make sure Waylon is away on his business trip. Langston spies on Liesel continually, hacking into security systems everywhere she goes. He can’t help wanting to watch her because he loves her even though their relationship is filled with lies that make him hate her enough to kill her.
Unable to wait the required five days, Langston kidnaps Liesel and takes her to an unknown island. Here they will play a deadly game of truth or lies. Depending on her answers, Liesel may end up dead at Langston’s hands much sooner than the one year Langston has allowed her, or she could end up cutting her time shorter. It’s up to her whether she gets to live a little longer.

This is book one in The Lies Series and it continues Liesel and Langston's story. Liesel is getting death threats and now she has to make a decision, does she ask Enzo, Zeke or Langston to take care of it but no she is going to deal with this one herself even if it means that she dies. Langston has just replied to a are asking for a hit man he knows who went it but does she know who answered it. Liesel and Langston have always had chemistry between them and it has always been strong but neither will act on it as they are not the same people that they used to be before they destroyed each other, let the games begin and we will see who will win. Omg this is only the beginning of the series and already I am hooked and I can't turn the pages fast enough to see what will happen next. Ella Miles is an amazing author and writer and she takes her readers into the story right from the first page and you become addicted, then the cliff hanger happens and you need the next book Now. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by Ella and you definitely will not be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed an Arc copy of this Amazing Book.
Leisel and Langston’s story is powerful and emotional, edge of your seat adrenaline rush and so explosive. So many lies, lies mixed with truths, what do you believe? One thing for sure is Langston hates Leisel for something she’s done, but she had no idea what she’s done to deserve such hatred. Each with a half truth piece of paper to seek out a treasure and all Langston wants is her truth and to get it he takes matters into his own hands. Langston has lies and truths of his own and when Leisel hears what appears to be a truth it could break her, but is it really the truth?
Little did he know that rehashing the past would bring up old feelings and past demons for both of them. They are not the kids they used to be. They are grown, evil, dangerous, and deceptive people who don’t trust easily, but when Leisel realizes she has a deadline to speak her truth or die she has a decision to make. Hold onto your truth or die with the lies? Which would you choose?
This is the first book in Liesel’s and Langston’s stories. She is dangerous, called Huntress by only one man since childhood. He is even more dangerous, called Killer by one woman. They have danced a tango all their lives with one another. Each has a gamut of feelings for the other. The turmoil they have been through and still experience…now it is time to pay the piper. Langston takes on the most dangerous assignment to date…kidnap Liesel and get all her truths for the ultimate prize. It will take time, privacy, threats, lies, and so much more to break her…but can he? This will be just the beginning of their journey…please read their story to understand what it is that makes Langston and Liesel the people they became…and will become~ Ella Miles did not disappoint once again by luring us into the world of the Blacks! She has such a creative devious mind…makes one wonder if one of these female leads might actually be her~ I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Lisesel is being blackmailed and she needs a hit man not to do an actual hit but to claim it once she has done the deed, signing off the ad as Huntress theirs only one man who responds the man she knows all to well as Killer. Langston couldnt refuse his Huntress, even if he was the last person she would want to see, now she owes him a debt. He knows half her secret a secret he tore In half years ago and since then they have both lied to protect it, now he wants to claim it the treasure it holds and he wants her. Lisesel and Langston game has lasted since they where 5 years old, will this be the beginning of the end? This is a roller coaster ride of emotions, with suspense, so many twists and turns, but wrenching scenes, desire betrayal and more! You'll be hooked from the get go! This book ends of a cliff hanger!

Ella Miles sure knows how to weave a fantastic story! I'm not sure whether to love or hate Langston. I never liked Liesel in the last two series but my heart breaks for her in Vicious Lies. She has been through so much I can understand why she's a *witch*. Knowing there are 5 more books I can only guess they are going to have to go through a lot more disasters but I'm excited to read the rest of their story. These stories tear me up, I don't want to give the story away so I will say that it makes it hard to choose who to be happy for. I ping pong back and forth between Langston and Liesel. I was hooked from the very beginning and had been waiting for their story since Zeke's wrapped up. I love Ella Miles's writing style and always enjoy her books! Highly recommend Vicious Lies (and all of Ella Miles books.) Voluntary review of an ARC
I love the novels Ella Miles writes and this book features two of the characters in her Truth or Lies and Sinful Truths Series which were previously published by this author. Vicious Lies is the follow-up to the prequel, In Lies We Share, and continues the story of Langston Pearce, now a hitman and head of security for the Black Organization, and Liesel Dunn, an attorney in New York City who has been threatened. Langston is hired by Liesel to help her kill the man threatening her, but during his time prior to the hit he finds she is in a relationship with another man which infuriates him. There are multiple twists in this intense read with these complex characters. I highly recommend this novel which ends in a cliffhanger but continues in the second book entitled Desperate Lies.

Vicious Lies by Ella Miles , is such a amazing book , I was completely hooked from the very beginning. This is book 1 in the Lies series , and oh boy does it keep you on the edge of your seat . Langston and Liesel have off the charts chemistry, and a connection like no other . My emotions were all over the place , there were times throughout this book that I was thrown for a loop but in the best way possible . I think I have found my new favorite series , because this book has it all , so much chemistry, a love / hate relationship between two amazing characters and plenty of steam .don’t miss this amazing series . I devoured it in day , in all honest I read this about a week ago , but am just getting to the review now , as I immediately downloaded book 2 and somehow forgot to write this review .that’s how addictive this series is ❤️💜
