For an up-and-coming heavy metal band in 1982, the chance to play a festival, even if it is at the recently rebuilt Spahn Ranch, seems like too good of an opportunity to be true. As Vendettic, alongside dozens of other bands, trek into the California desert for a week of drinking, heavy metal, and debauchery, they end up with more than they bargained for: that is, awakening some kind of ancient evil during a midday weed-fueled exploration.
So now they're stuck--trapped out in the desert with no real way to get back to civilization. Alongside them are the remains of Cyanide Pill, who lost their guitarist to said ancient evil, and Ben Gautier, Vendettic's former lead guitarist with a bone to pick with their new one.
With disemboweling, sex, and more heavy metal than you can stand, Spahn is the first in a three-book horror series guaranteed to, if nothing else, gross you out at times.
Aurora Dimitre grew up in North Dakota and never left. She has held a variety of jobs, her favorite of which has always been ‘library assistant,’ and is currently teaching children about grammar. However, if she didn’t write books all the time, she’d go crazy, which is why we’re here now.
Most of what I enjoy with this book comes straight from the writing style; I was being a little ~experimental~ and I really liked how it turned out. Other than that, I don't have much else to say.
