Written like your favorite drama television show, the Palm South University series has been called "a mix of Greek meets Gossip Girl with a dash of Friends." Follow seven college students as they maneuver unrequited love, teacher/student romance, the tangles of “no strings” relationships, love triangles and more. Each “season” has six “episodes,” and just like when your favorite show hits Netflix, you can read just one episode at a time or binge the entire thing. With the perfect mix of angst, emotional romance, and romantic comedy, the Palm South University series is your next guilty addiction.

Kandi Steiner is a USA Today and #1 Amazon Bestselling Author living in Tennessee. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. Her love for writing started at the ripe age of 10, and in 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”
She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a hopeless romantic and found herself bursting at the seams with love stories she was eager to tell.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, hiking, yoga, spending quality time with her family (fur babies included) and soaking up the sweetness of life.
#1 NYT Bestselling Author Rachel Van Dyken says, "If Gossip Girl and Riverdale had a love child, it would be PSU."
"When our eyes meet again, there’s an understanding there — one unlike any I’ve ever felt before. It’s the kind of universal tug at my heart, at my soul, that makes me feel like I’m tethered to a stranger. Like somehow, there’s a piece of me in them, and a piece of them in me."

This series is SO drama filled and I think that's important to remember when reading each book. Sometimes I felt myself getting annoyed with some characters and their decisions, but these are college kids who make honest mistakes and are just trying to figure out life while having fun.
I can't go into too many details because this is the fifth book in the series, but I loved seeing what would happen to the PSU gang. I was happy that some characters were able to heal old wounds while others found some happiness in their relationships. However, since this is the fifth book, I did feel like some of the conflicts were conflicts we had before and felt so redundant, especially between Adam and Cassie. Also, it seemed like EVERYONE was a jealous maniac over their partner being around someone who would steal them away. I know some people are jealous and insecure when it comes to relationships and their partner being around other people, but it was annoying how almost every character in here felt jealous over someone.
I am so invested in these characters and only want them all to be happy. I really do love the angst, though, and how complicated each relationships ends up becoming. I fly through these books and eat them up like binging a soap opera. If you want a series you can devour, pick up the PSU series!

The Palm South University books are a super addictive new adult series full of angst, drama, sex, lies, fun and sun. These books are written in episode format with alternating chapters from the POV of 7 different characters and their intertwining stories. These books should be read in order as the stories carry on throughout the entire series.
Ritual is the 5th instalment and we jump right back in with our core 7 Cassie, Adam, Skyler, Jess, Bear, Ashlei & Erin as well as some of the other characters we've met in previous books and some new additions.
Cassie & Adam // are the golden couple we have been rooting for since day one and now they are finally in a real relationship and all you want is for them to be their cute and happy selves and run off into the sunset together but this wouldn't really be a Kandi book if we didn't have people trying to come in between these two. They had some incrediblly sweet moments and a few super steamy ones but also very many frustrating ones. Their lack of communication/miscommunication was beyond annoying. I got where both sides were coming from and could empathize with their situation but I didn't like how it took other people's words and actions to make them see what was happening and talk sense into them before they had an open and honest conversation but I did really enjoy how their story ended up and fingers crossed they can just be allowed to breathe next book.
Skyler // I liked seeing what she was up to and how she was dealing with her relationship now that Kip is in California and they were doing the long distance thing and I loved seeing her involvement in the future of the sorority also. As much as I love Skyler I'm glad her story wasn't a major part of this book since the last book was heavily based on her and Kip.
Jess and Kade // Holy Moly I'm am officially jumping on the Team Kade, Jarrett who? train coz woaaah these two were HOT. This new part of Jess' story fits her perfectly and I absolutely adore seeing her take the reigns and going after what she wants without feeling pressured to or criticized for acting the way she does (coughcough Jarrett). Jess and Kade together are fun, sexy and sweet. Something about them feels so genuine and I will say really early on I did predict how their story would end off/that big bomb drop and now I wanna scream because I'm nervous for whats to come next but I'm staying #TeamKade
Ashlei // I do like her but I will say her storlyine for some reason is the one I've connected with the least throughout the series. There is nothing wrong with her but I'm just not as invested with her and haven't been since pretty much the beginning. With a series full of so many main characters and storylines this is bound to happen but I'm still curious to see where her story goes next.
I saved my FAVE BABIES for last
Bear // AGGHH stop breaking my heart please. I know he had A LOT to process this book after how things ended last book but gosh I wanted to smack him so hard while hugging him and never letting go. Watching him in this numb like state then seeing him breakdown was painful but I love him and need to know whats going to happen with him next.
Erin // My number one Baby. By far my favourite character in this entire series. She really crept up on me, because if you had asked me in book 1 who my fav was I doubt I ever would have said Erin. She is definitely is a character you will either love or hate. Throughout the series her perfect image slowly unravels with every heart breaking situation she goes through and in the last book she definitely hit a breaking point with lashing out at the people who love her the most and the more broken she became the more I fell in love with her. I'm so happy we finally get to see her making steps towards healing. It's not going to be an easy process but I'm waiting for the day she finally lets her Sorority sisters in on all that she has been through and watch them all heal together.
This season there was also a new addition Gavin and he intrigued me the minute he stepped on to the scene and the more we get to know him the more conflicted I became. I definitely loved him whole heartedly but I had been team Erin & Bear for so long and now I'm moving towards team Erin & Gavin but honestly no matter what happens I will always be #teamErin also that one scene where Gavin is Holding Erin I balled like a baby 😭😭
I love this series so much. Its super easy to read and I loved being back in the PSU world and can't wait to see what happens next in book 6
《book aesthetic made by me. I do not own the pictures, all found via pinterest》
This series is so fun to read! I love the drama and the involvement of so many characters. It is truly like a reality tv show and it just sucks you in! I'm already needing the next book in the series as this one leaves off with everyone in the middle of some epic drama. I love that Kandi Steiner has books that are filled with so much angst and also this fun college series. Great read!
4.5 stars Best book in the series yet! At this point I'm totally invested in the stories in each character, I'm midst in every drama, chaos and love story. Having to wait until the next book is killing me right now! As much as these amazing characters evolved since the first book, Kandi Steiner's writing style evolved right along. This time she managed to capture me right from the first to the last word. Well done!
More angst, more heat and more of unexpected twists and turns! If you think that you have seen it all in the PSU series, think again, because Kandi Steiner holds no punches! Ritual CONSUMED me. All of the characters have come a long way since Rush and I’m so freaking invested in their lives that it’s not even funny. This series is like Kindle crack and Ritual was the latest shot that made me high and I want this feeling to last forever!
My heart was constantly breaking for Bear. I love this guy and seeing him so troubled made me ache.
I was team Cassie and Adam right from the beginning and I really hope that they’re gonna overcome all of obstacles.
Jess is messy, but I adore her nonetheless. A new chapter has opened in her life and I’m rooting for her!
I’m incredibly glad that Erin gets better. I admire her strenght and wish for her all the best. You go, girl!
Skylar and Kip- I ship them so hard! Not gonna lie, I wasn’t sure if they’re gonna make it, so I’m positively surprised!
And Ashlei- I was so happy for her, but Kandi decided to throw a curveball… Keeping my fingers crossed that she and Brandon will stay together!
This part of the series was a freaking rollercoaster. There’s so much happening, the good, the bad, and everything in between. I swooned, I laughed, I raged and I cried. This installment is filled with all sorts of emotions to the brim. It’s full of secrets, lies, surprising revelations, steam and anything you can think of! I don’t know how I am supposed to wait patiently until February, because I need the next book ASAP! I’m already hungry for more!
Ritual was a New Adult serial-type story that was a big old angsty dramafest with scintillating romance and over-the-top theatrics. And I have to admit, it was rather addictive.
I had no idea what a roller coaster ride I was in for when I jumped into the Palm South University series with book number five. Each installment basically is one “season” at the university and follows mainly two groups of students: one of the fraternities and one of the sororities. The book is then broken down into “episodes” (chapters) which typically was a particular month or set a couple of months later and was then told from multiple POVs... Read More
With each new season of PSU I fall harder and harder for these characters and I seriously need time to go faster because Ritual was gut wrenching for me!
I love that we have seen these characters grow throughout the years! With each book (semester) growth has happened and hard, very hard lessons have been learned! Kandi gives us this unique insight to each persons story! Yes there’s back and forth but it’s just like watching your favorite show (in my opinion even better because I have all of these books on my kindle and I can take these beauty’s anywhere)
PSU is seriously my addiction! I don’t want the stories to stop or the series to end (I also want to know where everyone ends up because OMG I have soooo many questions after this book)!
This book had twists and some major surprises! Past characters aren’t as in the past as we thought and events that unfold in the end will have you on the edge of your seat! Seriously though I was in so much sock I fell off my dang chair! I did not see a lot of this happening and ya February needs to get here ASAP!
Though I am WAAAAAY past college age I love to read these books because they allow me to reminisce In a way that is too hard to describe! You have to just experience and feel the nostalgia! This group of friends have gone through a ton together but their not close to being done! I know that whatever is coming I’m so ready for it (ha jk I’m not but really I need book 6 like right now)!
oh my god, ARE YOU KIDDING??!?? THIS WAS SO GOOD. I totally DEVOURED it. This review it’s going to be a mess, you’re warned. How can I start??? This has been my favorite book in the PSU series so far. It had everything and not too much OTT drama like the ones before. When I started the series I wasn’t sold on them cause it was too much drama and just not me but damn they won me over. I love this format so much and Kandi does it absolutely amazing. Lets go through each of the characters. First, Cassie and Adam. I think their story here was the one I didn’t like as much. FINALLY they’re together but there are these things happening AGAIN. I was annoyed by that but I still enjoyed it. Sky and Kip my favorite couple EVAAAA. They were so cute. And even though Sky was not much here (which was understandable, she pretty much took the spotlight last season), her presence was so valuable. She’s the best. Ashlei goddamn, I love her but GODDAMN. Her storyline with Brandon became my favorite as soon as he was introduced to us a few seasons back and i’m so mad and so upset. BRANDON MY MAN. I cried with him because this wasn’t “drama” or a miscommunication, this was a real mistake and I’m saddddd. I’m hopeful and nerveFULL for the future of them. Bear here... *sigh* I don’t know. I get what was going on but he was really an ass by the end. Becca was a fcking peach. She was wonderful. His ending left room for hope on his journey through healing and figuring out his feelings. And now, Erin. If you’ve read my last reviews, you know I wasn’t fond of her cause I didn’t really know her. She wasn’t around much and when she was, she was the villain. But no here, no no. Now I know her and I absolutely adore her. And Gavin... MY HEART. They were some of the best people here. Finally, JESS. AND OMG THAT BOMB WAS HUGE. I didn’t see that coming. We all know how heartbroken her (and I) were after Jarrett, here it’s all fun with Kade and it’s so perfect. BUT THST BOMB. Kandi HOW YOU DARE LEAVE US LIKE THAT!!! My favorite moments were when the 5 girls hang out, we see A LOT more of that and their bond it’s so beautiful and precious. I love love LOOOOVEEEE that. This one it’s also steamy and hot af. This one just have everything, I’m soooooooooo pleased with this. These books just keep getting better!!!! And it truly feels like a tv series, istg. Loved it.
PS. The ONE thing I was disappointed at, was that Erin never really said anything but I guess there’s still more to come. I’m nervous about how it’s gonna be now that 3 of them graduated... I have faith in you Kandi!!
* I received and ARC for my honest review * 4.75 🌟
I flew through this season of PSU like nobody’s business. IT WAS EVERYTHING! My jaw is literally still on the floor. I need the next book right now. That’s so not a joke. Just when I thought everything was perfect Kandi came out here and dropped several ~ drama bombs ~ as I call them. I mean seriously, WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK KANDI?? How can you just leave me like that??? 😫
But seriously, I absolutely loved this installment. It had me from beginning to end. That’s the thing I love about these books: you don’t just read them. You’re a part of them. It’s so easy to imagine everything in your head. Exactly like a TV show & I AM OBSESSED!
And I just have to say I am SO HAPPY for some people in this book and SOME PEOPLE made me incredibly mad but it’s OKAY because I still love them. Well some of them 🤣
Since I can’t give spoilers, I’ll just say that you need this book in your life. The whole series actually because if you read this one first nothing will make sense. So yeah just read them all and come back here so we can fangirl together because OMG IS IT FEBRUARY YET??? 🥺
Every season, every episode and every new character developement I fall harder and harder with PSU.
Every character owns my heart. I can feel their struggles, their happiness and their heartbreak. Each and everyone of them is so special and honestly go through so much stuff it still amazes me how they can still manage it on too of college.
I thought this was the finals season, but I am soooo glad that it‘s not and there is still more to come and I can‘t wait for it. Kandi Steiner really managed to make an addicting series which would be so perfect as a tv show. This series deserves so much more recognition!

Ritual is the fifth installment in the PSU series. Yes, these books must all be read in order. Each book has six episodes in them and the episodes give you POV from each of the characters. It truly reads like you watching a show play out in front of you. It is my guilty pleasure summer read and I cannot get enough of these characters.
When it comes to the PSU series, I never have a problem devouring these books in one sitting. I get so caught up in the all drama, the inner workings of sororities and fraternities along with the dynamics between everyone. This series is one of my top 5 favorites written and we aren't done yet!!
Ritual is the start of a new semester for all these college kids. Some will be graduating this semester and while others have another year or so to go. Many have grown in new ways while others are still trying to find their way.
I normally go through each character but realize all that does is summarize what happens and that takes away from the experience when a readers knows it is going to happen. Just know that there is a lot that goes on and being that Kandi is queen of angst, she does not let us down in that department at all.
I will tell you these few things:
Cassie - she surprises me and comes across as somewhat selfish in how she handles a situation.
Adam - that boy a heart of gold. That's all I am saying
Jess- she has me fist-bumping her and cheering her on.
Asheli - girl shocked me. I am torn up on this one.
Skyler - love her so much!!
Bear - he made me the most emotional this time around. I want to bearhug him so hard.
Erin - I am still undecided on her. She's the one I struggle with the most.
As always - just when we think things are going to go one way, Kandi tosses in a few stumbling blocks. Now we are left on bated breath wondering what happens with these seven college friends in the future.
PSU is a series that everyone needs to binge read. You can thank me later. ;)
Before I started Ritual I was unsure what I needed most – to see what happened with Bear and Erin, to see how Jess and Kade played out, to fall deeper in love with Brandon and Ashlie, to be hit with all the Cassie and Adam feels, or to see what came next for Skyler and Kip – but I knew I needed more. After finishing, I can say for certain I did not need one single element – I needed it all.
The first four books – Rush, Anchor, Pledge, and Legacy – all had plenty packed into them, and need to be read before diving into this one. Things have been building throughout, and to enjoy everything in this one you need to be aware of all that has played out before. Trust me, it’s worth it though.
Despite how much was packed into the prior books, this one hit me the hardest. Lots happened in this one, much more than I anticipated. Even the details that I wasn’t one hundred percent happy with ended up being important, playing into the overall story, and won me over. There’s heartache and pain, mixed with laughter and love, and everything hits hard. You continue to fall deeper and deeper for the characters, and I’m so invested in all that plays out.
Honestly, this is one of those books where I could swoon about the beautiful development of characters and stories, but to do so I’d end up spoiling the major events of this one. Just know, it’s one of those extremely rare books to have pulled a five-star rating from me because it gave so much and hit hard. Even though there were a few details I wasn’t completely happy with, they were important – and to turn those things around and make them vital ensured this fifth addition to the Palm South University series earned a full five-star rating from me.
The only downside is that I now have to wait to get my answers to what comes next – and I cannot wait after those twists!
Wow, is all I can say about the fifth season of the PSU series. I have missed those characters so much and their stories! This season was absolutely insane!! There was so much DRAMA and so many FEELS!! Especially during the last 2 episodes!! I bawled my eyes out on one of the scenes!! Probably have to say that this is the BEST season out of all of them. Definitely wouldn't want to miss it.
This season follows the journey of Ashlei, Erin and Jess as they start their final semester of college.
Cassie is having to work on some issues from the past and juggle school work, and her and Adam - man, I wanted to go and shake them a little bit lol. Both of them are so stubborn!!
Skyler is still figuring out what she wants to do after college. Her and Kip - glad they are working the long distance thing like champs!!
I am so happy for Erin - after everything that she has been through, I am glad that she is finally okay.
Jess has grown up so much this season, still the badass, sassy girl, but you get to see her in a different light. We get introduced more to Kade, who is so hot, by the way, you can see by the cover lol Jess and Kade - um so FREAKING cute and so FREAKING sexy!! There were some swoony and steamy scenes there.
And then there is Ashlei - I love her dedication to her work. She is going to be very successful one day. Her and Brandon - oh, I love them so much!!
Bear is still working through a lot of issues with his family and his love life, and my heart aches for him so much. I just wanted to go and give him a big BEAR hug. I really hope he pulls through.
I cannot wait for season 6 next year!! Definitely recommend these series. You'll be in for a ride!!
• I wanted to wrap Bear up this semester because you could see he was struggling with learning about the abortion. Also, he knew he didn’t like Becca like that because you can see his feelings for Erin from a mile away.
• Cassie got to stop being dumb. She knew Grayson wanted to be more than friends and I don’t know why she didn’t listen to Adam!! He was justified in being upset and frustrated with her but I’m glad they worked it out.
• I do not like Gavin. I get he’s a part of Erin’s healing journey but I hope they don’t last because her and Bear are END GAME.
• Jess and Kade are so cute! BUT I DID NOT EXPECT THE JARRETT PLOT TWIST. I did not expect that they are BROTHERS.
• I feel so bad for Ashlei and Brandon. She messed up but I have full faith in their relationship so I’m hoping they make things work in the next book.
• Loved the lavalier scene between Skylar and Kip!!!

I just finished this book a while ago and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. My mind is playing a reel of all that happened and how it ended and I don't think I'm okay.
This series has been an EPIC rollercoaster of sex, drama, love and all you can possibly think of. And it all continues in Ritual. So much is happening. Sexiness. Drama. Lies. Breakups. New relationships. Mending of friendships. Friendships ruined. So much angst. It's an epicly emotional journey where you'll feel any and all emotions as each character goes through their own turmoils and issues. My heart is completely broken for some of these characters, super happy for others and incredibly scared and confused for the rest of them.
I love the girl's friendship. After everything they have all been through, even when there were issues between them, they stayed friends and were always there for each other. This book is kind of a goodbye for some as they are graduating college but I can't wait to see what their friendship will look like in the future. I hope they remain friends and that we will still see all of them in their individual journeys even if they are not in college anymore.
Adam and Cassie which up until now have been my favorite couple had me scared for a little while there. They go through their own drama but manage to come out on top and better than ever, I swear if this ship sunk, I would be so damn mad. These two are ride or die. Do not mess with that.
Kade is relatively new to the group but you know what? I freaking LOVED him. He and Jess were so damn hot together. They just might be my new fav couple. Kade is softening Jess and making her feel things and allow herself to be more emotional and I love that. I really really hope they stay together but with the bomb Kandi dropped on them in the end, I'm kind of scared. Jess is a bit of mess of a person and she loves to deny her feelings and with everything that happened in the past, I'm scared about what she will do or allow to happen.
Ashlei and Brandon. I loved watching her and him be happy and thriving. But a lot happens there too, there's some new office drama that might ruin everything for good. I'm broken over what happened between them but I hope against everything that that was not the end for them.
Skylar and Kip were so damn adorable. A long distance relationship is not easy but they make it work and gah how everything ended for them in this book was PERFECT. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these two.
Erin, man I am so so happy that she got help and is working through everything that happened and moving on. She meets a new love interest and I adored him, even though I feel like we only scratched the surface of who he is and I wish we had gotten to know him much better. I look forward to seeing how that all goes.
Bear. Omg he broke my heart in this book. My big man is anything but ok. He's going through so much. I hope that he's able to work through everything and move on from what happened. And I hope that Becca will be there for him when he does. Meanwhile, he has Skylar, his bestfriend. I am so happy they have each other. That last scene of them together had me all up in my feels but I am just glad he's finally letting himself feel everything. That's the first step to working on things.
Ritual was amazing. You can expect everything you've gotten before in this series. But what prevailed in this book was heartbreak, angst and you know I loved it. I just hope they are all able to heal and work on themselves and their relationships and reach a happy place. I'm gonna hope like hell that everything that was broken gets mended in the next book. I'm already dying for it.

‘The changing of the tides is cold and unfamiliar, and it leaves me wishing I could wrap myself up in what has always been and never let it go. But this is the way life is. It’s constantly ebbing and flowing, throwing us into new waters, testing our ability to float.’ – Skyler
Palm South University is the series that keeps on freaking giving! I have loved every single book and ‘Ritual’ was no exception, and I have to say, this one has my begging for next February. I love that we pick up right where the last book left off, and we’ve gotten to see these characters learn and grow. I think in ‘Ritual’ they’re all learning some of their toughest lessons.
I need more of everybody, but this book has me begging for more Bear and Erin, as well as Ashlei and Brandon. I feel like these people are my own friends and Kandi has ripped my heart out! This book has twists and surprises that I never saw coming, and had me speed reading to find out what would happen next.
PSU is all drama, love, loss, and friendship rolled up into one perfect story. It truly does read just like your favorite TV shows. I love that Kandi breaks the book down into ‘episodes’ and we get to see each point of view during the episodes. She draws in the reader from the very first page, and doesn’t let go, even when the book is over. I cannot wait for the next book in this series, because the lingering questions I have NEED to be answered! I honestly think this is the year of Kandi, because every book she’s released has been AMAZING!
I didn’t thought I would love them all so much, I can’t wait to have them back in 2021.
This books drained all my energy, thanks to Cassie and Adam this too wrecked me, I never read a book with two people who love each other so much, but drama follows them everywhere.
I love how each of them change through each books and each semester. Some of them are still hurting and are working on healing their wound. The wild one are at peace and madly in love.
I already know how much drama we might have in the next Book “Hi J-Love”
I missed Bear in this one, how broken he was. He got a lot in his plate, I hope we saw him In book 6 and I hope the other girls will be In it too.
I’m ready for the drama bring it on Kandi. Imagine gossip girl at Palm South she would have been crazy with all the drama, story to tell.
I feel like I just watched the season finale of a Shonda Rhime’s show (minus all the death) and now I’m left sitting here having to wait months to figure out what’s going to happen next!
I don’t want to spoil anything but just know my jaw literally dropped when I was reading this book. A total surprise that I did not see coming!
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started the PSU series, but ever since I started book 1 it has consumed me. I never knew one series could have me so invested in this many characters lives but here I am wanting to know what’s going to happen next with Jess and Ashlei, and wanting to hear all about Erin’s adventure, and needing more Bear and Skyler friendship moments, and basically wanting to know everything from everyone in the series.
Kandi Steiner has created such a unique series that focuses on a group of friends and their lives through the highs and lows of college. Her writing draws you in and captivates you as you go through everyone’s journey individually and as a unit. These characters feel like your own friends that you root for and celebrate with, but also want to smack some sense into sometimes!
I absolutely loved this installment of the PSU series and now I’m going to be counting down the days until February!
I am dying here with the need to know more. Just when you think everything is going great for everyone, bam drama time.
I love all the characters and couples but let me tell you for me Ashlei and Brandon and the Erin storylines stole the show for me and some parts just make me want to scream in a very good way. Oh and let's not forget Jess.
Kandi Steiner just reels me in with every PSU installment deeper and deeper and leaves me wanting more!!
Reading this feels like watching a reality TV show. The drama, the relationships, the bonds are completely addictive. The way it is written makes you crave for more of each of the couples, praying and hoping for a spin off book for each. Better than binge watching a show this book plays out the drama in you mind, better than any tv show!
The gang is BACK and it’s filled with even more Drama! Filled with love (old and new), heartbreak, miscommunication and a whoooole lot more! With new and old character/s thrown in.
Ritual by Kandi Steiner pleasantly surprised me, and is my favorite of the Palm South University books so far. One thing I've realized about this series is the need to commit to reading them all in order to get the complete story of each character. Otherwise, you're left hanging on a cliffhanger or the character has no growth. It took this book to finally get some great growth and character development from a number of the people. Ritual is about the fall semester, and it's the last semester of college for Erin, Ashlei, and Jess. Here are the summaries of each character and my thoughts:
- Cassie is finally with Adam officially, but when she shows up to class on her first day back, she sees Grayson, her ex-boyfriend and the guy who cheated on her. Cassie doesn't want anything to do with him at first, but Grayson wants to make amends and be friends. She decides not to tell Adam right away because she doesn't want to stir the pot, and Adam is being distant from her. - Adam loves Cassie and wants to be with her forever. He thinks their relationship is great. Until he sees Cassie and Grayson leaving class and talking, and then indirectly asks Cassie about class, with her withholding that information. He realizes Cassie is keeping Grayson a secret, and he starts to question whether or not he can trust her. - Bear is with Becca still and their relationship is fine. Bear is pretty distant, and he feels lost for the entirety of this book. He has a lot of healing to do, and he needs to start forgiving people. Clayton, his brother, is doing well, but wants to reconnect with their mother, who messaged him saying she's gotten better. Bear is skeptical and doesn't trust their mom. Bear is also upset with Erin and the secret she kept from him. He also can't seem to get Erin out of his mind, and starts to realize he likes her. - Erin is on the road to recovery and is in group and individual therapy. She's spent the summer healing and is still trying to make amends to everyone she hurt. Erin apologizes to her friends and begins to feel better. She also meets Gavin, a grad student at PSU who is in her therapy group. He helps her feel free and happy. Erin makes a lot of strides in this novel, which is what was lacking in all of the previous books. Her story is one of loss and hurt, but also hope and healing. I am glad we finally get to see her doing better because it was a long time coming. My biggest issue with her story is that you barely see her in the first three books, only for her to become the villain in book 4, so we didn't get to know her well enough until now, book 5. - Jess is getting over Jarrett. She is spending time with Kade, the junior frat boy who asked her to teach him about getting a girl the previous semester. He stood her up on their arrangement, but he's making up for it now, and they're spending lots of time together. Jess loves the s*x she has with Kade, but she's also starting to have stronger feelings for him. Jess and Kade start to date, and she's starting to fall for him. At the end of this novel, a big bomb is dropped, involving Jess, Kade, and Jarrett. I really liked Jess in this book, even though we didn't see her a lot. I also loved Kade, he was a sweet and funny guy who clearly liked Jess. I'm nervous for what happens next with Jess's story. - Ashlei is no longer an intern at Okay, Cool, but an employee. She is starting her first job there, and her relationship with the CEO Brandon is out in the open. Things are busy for them, however, and they don't get to spend as much time together. But their relationship is solid. Until Ashlei meets the new intern, Sophie, who looks just like her and is making waves as an intern. Ashlei is suspicious of Sophie, who has ulterior motives. At the end of the novel, everything goes up in flames with Ashlei's relationship and there's a bit of a cliffhanger for what's to come. I really loved Ashlei and Brandon in the previous novel and this one, and I'm nervous for their future. - Skylar is doing great. She's in a long distance relationship with Kip, who is living his dream at UCLA. Skylar is working at a casino and has a plan for what she wants to do after college. She wants to own a casino company that you can hire for private events, where the money goes to charities. Skylar took a backseat in this novel, especially after featuring in Legacy, book 4, so much. Skylar and Kip are doing well.
I was hesitant when I first started Ritual and there was immediate drama between Cassie and Adam. They have so much drama, it's not even angsty anymore. I do like them together, however, and this book did a much better job, in my opinion, of having a clear, concise timeline of everything. It wasn't too drawn out and there were multiple scenes with them being okay and happy. I loved Erin in this book, it was a long time coming for her to finally be in the spotlight. I don't like how little she appeared in the first 3 books, it made it feel as if we didn't know her or who she was at all. And that made it hard to like or sympathize with her in book 4. But in book 4 we did start to get inside her head a ton and could understand where she was coming from. And now in book 5, we finally see who she is, and I really like her. Bear also had some of the best growth in this book. He feels lost and doesn't really know what he's doing. He starts to lose himself a bit, and Becca helps him pull his head out of his a**. There is unfinished business with Bear and Erin, which we have to wait for the next books to see. I liked Ashlei's story a lot. Again, at first I thought it would just be drama drama drama and no real story or advancement with random twists, but it was well done. I am still sad about where she left off, and I'm hoping for the best with the next book. Skylar didn't make a lot of appearances, but I liked when she did and she and Kip were cute. The storylines and character arcs in Ritual were much more thought out and concise. There weren't random plot twists thrown in and it was a much smoother read than the first few books in the series. The friendship between the girls is one of my favorite aspects of the PSU series. They give each other great advice and help build each other up. I really enjoy reading the scenes of them all just hanging out.
I am actually exited for book 6, Hazed, but I am uncomfortable with the title. Hazing in Greek life is bad, it's bullying, and it's something that colleges and their Greek life come under fire for. I hope that there isn't any hazing in the next book, because it's something that fraternities and sororities shouldn't be doing. Maybe it's hazed, as in confusion, or in terms of the weather, but since this series is about college and Greek life, I don't know, so I'm wary about that.
Bring on the college drama, I am completely hooked on PSU!! This is one series, like a favorite TV show that returns season after season, I cannot get enough of.
A new year at PSU, for some of the students this is their last semester, or last year. For all of them they may be another year older, perhaps a touch wiser, but they are still filled with lots of our favorite drama. Ritual is layed out, just like the past four books in six episodes where each character gets a POV focus and all of their stories interweave throughout the entire book. Ritual should not be read as a standalone, only read after the previous four books to have the best understanding.
Jess is entering her final semester of college and finally over her relationship with Jarrett. At the end of last semester she was approached by a freshman, Kade, to be his "teacher". Jess, also known as J-Love had a well known reputation, one she isn't ashamed of, so once she decides to put that reputation to good use and really getting Jarrett out of her system for good she says yes. What she didn't expect was catching feelings for Kade in the process.
Bear, the strong, emotional support guy of the group for everyone really struggles emotionally this book. He crashes hard with everything Erin revealed to him at the end of last semester, his addict mother, his brother that is growing up and making decisions on his own, and more. There are things hitting him at all sides and the big guy isn't sure how to fix himself. His story is truly heartbreaking. He's so lost and I just want to give him a hug.
Erin has finally come to grips with her past, her mistakes, and everything that happened to her. She's getting counseling, going to therapy, and trying to make amends to those she's wronged. Even with all she's been through Erin finds herself at a point where she's open and meets someone at therapy. Gavin makes her feel alive, a feeling she hasn't felt in a really long time.
Ashlei is finishing up her last semester too and working back at Brandon's company. However, there is a new intern that gives her a side eye and makes her uncomfortable from the get go. No matter how strong her relationship is with Brandon Ashlei has a bad feeling that something is going to happen to mess it up. So she works hard, keeps her focus on work, but also silently waiting for the other shoe to drop.
After coming in second place at the biggest poker tournament of her life, Skyler is actually happier than ever, that is only because she lost to her boyfriend, Kip. Their relationship is strong, but the only sad part is he is attending school in California while she is still in Florida. They do talk and video chat constantly and of all the couples I feel the best about their lasting relationship.
Cassie and Adam is the couple I continue to feel the most angst over, every single book!! I want to smack them every time. Although isn't there that couple in every favorite show you watch? They have been official now for over a semester because before that they never could seem to get on the same page. However, this semester an ex makes a reappearance which throws a monkey wrench into their perfect bliss and once again you will shout and scream at this duo.
Kandi Steiner really knocked it out of the park with her return to PSU. I was engrossed from the beginning to the very end. I can hardly wait until the next season, there is still so much I need to know!
PSU is back!!!! Gahh! I love these books so much. Going back always feels so nostalgic. This series has been in my life for so long and going back into a new season definitely feels like coming home. It also definitely helps that I just went back and read the entire PSU series and have all these characters and their drama fresh in my mind.
If you haven’t picked up PSU or heard of PSU before, it’s a college romance series about love and friendship set within the Greek system. If you ever watched Greek, it feels 1000% like that show. There’s a ton of drama, but it’s so much fun.
I think for this review I’m gonna go a bit old school and break it down by character.
Bear: I’m kinda disappointed in Bear this semester. I love him and he’s absolutely one of my favorite characters, but I need him to really start working through his issues and making real moves. He really needs to be very honest with himself. He needs to open up to healing. This season Bear definitely left me expecting more.
Skyler: Skyler and Kip are now living their HEA and I love how much she’s grown and matured. She definitely takes a bit of a backseat this season, but she’s very much there for all her sisters, and for Bear, when they need her. I can’t wait to see what her presidency brings!
Erin: Erin!!! I loved Erin this season. She’s finally taking her healing seriously and she’s managed to find love along the way. I love seeing her make amends and become lighter in the process. Through the last couple of seasons Erin has lived under this heavy weight and you really see all that lift this time around.
Jess: oh Jess. Sweet, messy Jess. I love her and Kade this season. But, can I say? I definitely saw that final twist coming and I’m not sure I’m happy about it. It’ll definitely bring some drama... I really like Kade though so I’m hoping it all works out for them.
Ashlei: I’m gonna have to be honest and say I didn’t love Ashlei’s story line this season. I feel like in her time at Okay, Cool she’s worked on herself so much. She’s become so strong and confident and I truly see this whole season just unraveling all that character development. I don’t know what’s next for Ashlei, but I’m rooting for her.
And finally, my faves, Adam and Cassie: I’m going to do them together this time around because their storyline in Ritual is all about each other. They’re finally happy, but someone from their past comes to put a wrench in everything. Adam and Cassie definitely brought the drama and amped up the miscommunication this time around. I just love them and I want them to be happy always, so this one really stressed me out.
This series is so bingeable and I cannot wait to see where our characters go next! I couldn’t put this one down!!!
Aaarrrgghhh!! I can’t believe the next installment is 7 months away! I’m on pins and needles already!
Ritual picks up where Legacy leaves off and we’re thrust back into Greek life and our favorite sorority sisters at Palm South!
Cassie and Adam… I love these two! Adam struggles with balancing his President duties and devoting time to Cassie. These two go through their triumphs and falls each planning their own grand gestures to win back the other! I think this couple is in it fir the long haul!
Skyler and Kip…We don’t see a whole lot of Kip in this book, but this couple struggles with the challenge of distance and the impact it has on a relationship.
Jess and Kade navigate into new territory. At first these two have a mutually beneficial relationship…but when Kade starts using his new tricks…sparks fly between him and Jess! Jess finally begins to move on from Jarrett and realizes what started out as just fun with Kade…she wants more. You can tell she is maturing in this book! That ending… did not freaking see that coming!! I know who I want her to be with!
Ashlei and Brandon completely broke my heart! They’ve got such a great thing going when feelings are finally revealed until Ashlei falls into a devastating trap. I truly hope this is not the end for them!
Then there is Bear and Erin! These two struggle through the book! Erin finally starts to heal from all her trauma and finds help from am unlikely companion in Gavin who has his own heartache. We see the storyline developing between Erin and Bear and hopefully making some peace so they can both heal… unbeknownst to us until closer to the end… could there be some feelings between these two?? I sure do hope so!
This series is fantastic! The dynamic may change with Jess, Erin and Ashlei graduating but I thunk we’ll see lots of them in the next book! Can’t wait to read it…but February???

I absolutely love this world that Kandi has created. This series is so incredibly addictive, with its layered story lines and unending drama and romance. It’s something you would have never known you needed unless you took the chance to read it.
I had no idea what I had signed up for when I started reading the PSU series, but I have been completely consumed since book 1. I’ve never read anything that had so many intersecting stories before with an abundance of characters. To be honest I wasn’t sure I would like it once I figured it out, but I was so wrong. I am utterly invested in each of these characters and what happens to them. This series reads like a plot line to a soap opera in the best way. You jump around from character to character in different acts of the book. Seeing their College experience through their eyes.
I applaud Kandi and her ability to write so many different characters at one time and not missing a beat. Each one is completely different and going through their own experiences it would be so easy to get lost. But you never do, Kandi has crafted it with such precision and ease that you flow from one chapter to the next smoothly and uninterrupted.
This unique and incredible journey that these characters take you on is one that you won’t soon forget. These people feel like your friends and all you want is the best for them. You want to see each of them get that HEA that they so richly deserve. But leave it to Kandi to leave us with an ending that will leave your mouth agape wondering WTF just happened, and just like the Season Final of your favorite drama you have to wait tell next year to get it!
