Orville is trying to get on with his life after his wife was killed in a car accident. His father is mostly taking care of his still unnamed infant daughter while his boss at work is aggressively trying to comfort him. Everything changes when he sees the man responsible for his wife's death. Is someone in this much pain capable of forgiveness?
I really really wanted to love this book, the beginning was really alluring and the writing seemed good. But one thing that Adam szymkowics does is he uses a lot of dashes to break up phrases and it comes out really choppy, I tried to do a monologue from this play and my initial interpretation sounded like I was a robot or something, the middle section through the end seemed like tired sloppy writing and the suspense and the tension that should’ve been there during intense moments just always fell flat for me and I could never see someone making this a stage production because in my humble opinion the main character has zero qualities that make the audience able to sympathize with him or find him like able. So overall I enjoyed this read but I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. :)
Liked this for the most part. Covers a lot of ground in a tight number of pages.
The one female character is kind of heinously written, though. The men are super nuanced and real and she felt like an absolute cartoon of a plot device.
A very intense but interesting read that has an ending you don't expect. Really loved it despite the less than ideal way the single female character is written.
