This book is a great book for the management of a school library. However, it doesn’t go into enough details about classroom behavior management. When reading the title, that’s what I thought the focus of this book would be: how to manage student behavior while they were in the library. It has a few chapters but doesn’t go into details beyond “build relationships.” It does cover a lot of the managerial tasks associated with libraries.
I love the descriptions of the different levels of collaboration described in this book. Lots of great info, tips and tricks for librarians. I do wish it wasn't assumed all elementary librarians are on a fixed schedule, it makes the elementary focused sections less applicable to my district.
I appreciated this book. I liked how this addressed classroom management not only in lessons but in management of space and building of relationships. I thought some of the goals were too far reaching for those without library assistants but a great book that is sorely needed for the profession.
