Bic Green, a hired assassin is given a seemingly difficult job of killing 10 people in 21 days. But with Gracie dying from cancer and the money being offered to him for the kills, he takes up the job.
He botches a job and the FBI agents are on his trail.
With twists and turns and plenty of action, the story is thoroughly exciting and enjoyable. Liked it.

This story is amazing! Bic Green is a hired assassin. We see glimpses into his past as we get to know him and see what makes him tick. This story has a very intricate plot and is loaded with action and suspense. Government conspiracy, assassinations, and even a little romance make up this complex story. Each new chapter throws you for a loop and it is fantastic! One thing is for sure, trust no one! I can’t wait to see what else is going to happen in this series.

Dark Ghost is filled with high energy, lots of action and suspense, a great deal of twists, and keeps you on your toes until the last page!

Wow!!!
What a fantastic debut.
I am completely blown away and so glad I took a chance on a new author.
With characters and plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat, you'll be unable to lock away.
The plot especially will have your jaw drop with the audacity of some characters, and then later on twists thrown in that you won't see coming.
Definitely recommend and I can't wait to read the next in series.

Fast-paced action and adventure that's a thrill a minute. Short chapters move this along with dangerous intensity as a government plot has billionaires dying and several deadly assassins on the loose. Bic is an interesting character as the assassin known as the Black Ghost. He is torments him by his past but he does have a few redeeming qualities. As the bodies stack up, the rookie FBI agents, Mack and Caroline, are on the job and growing closer. A good pairing at work and with a budding romantic relationship. I must confess...I was enthralled by psycho assassin Gabriel. The deadly assassin was a marvel of efficiency when surrounded and that scene in his house was the bomb. Loads of dead bodies, tons of ammunition, treachery on several levels, and a crazy conspiracy makes this an exciting read. I didn't really like the supernatural element in the ending but the other wrap ups were fantastic. I liked the writing and the characters in this thriller and look forward to more from the talented author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

4 1/2 Star Read. Bic Green is a ghost contract killer tormented by his past and wanting to find his father again. Although he's a tough contract killer he still has a soft heart underneath and helps out his goddaughter Gracie with funds to help fund her cancer research. Bic gets hired by a corrupt congressman to kill ten wealthy people in 21 days though he is torn as it goes against his code of not killing innocent people. But the eight-figure sum he has been offered is too good to pass up it means he can give Gracie even more funding for her research. He slips up with one of his kills with FBI agents Mack and Caroline finding a clue after one of his assassinations. Will they be able to discover who is behind all the killings or will the Ghost getaway. I can't go into much more detail otherwise I will spoil the story for you.
I received a copy for an honest review for NNBB. I loved this debut novel by Freddie Villacci Jr it was fast-paced and full of twists and turns you don't see coming. If you love a thriller with plenty of action and full of heart-stopping, edge of the seat suspense you won't be disappointed with this book. I can't wait to read more by Freddie.

Bic Green, known as the Black Ghost, is a killer for hire with a dark past. In his tenure as an assassin he has completed over 20 assignments without any of them seeming anything more than an accident even though he would occasionally leave behind a calling card: a raw pork chop. Bic Green is called to work a 10-kill assignment by government officials with deep Russian mob ties, where he realizes he wants to be finished with this life.

Rookies Mack Maddox and Caroline Foxx, two FBI agents with scarred pasts of their own, find themselves wrapped in trying to solve the murders of billionaires all tied together by a calling card: a raw pork chop.

Black Ghost had an interesting storyline that was obviously researched well by the technical knowledge of weaponry displayed by the author. Though well researched, occasionally the over sharing of weapons jargon had me skipping entire paragraphs. The author also has a background in finance which he centered this story around in a way that wasn’t confusing to the reader. For a debut novel by someone who isn’t a writer by trade, there was definitely a good plot and the story moved seamlessly. Some grammar here and there needed some cleaning up, and potentially a touch less characters because I was mixing a lot of them up, confused of who they were/what point they had to further the plot.

Freddie Villacci, Jr. knocked it out-of-the-park with his literary debut, “Black Ghost!”
It was a real page-turner with endless twists, turns, red herrings and MacGuffins. Just when this reader thought she had it figured out, the writer threw another curveball. Even when I thought that the book had pushed the boundaries of credulity, it followed up with plausible alternatives. With a multiplicity of characters, motivations and intent, the plot is complex but believable. From exploring political corruption to examining human nature and frailties, and from financial fraud and creative ways to commit homicides to a simmering romance, this is a well-crafted and entertaining read. “Black Ghost” even manages to garner sympathy for a cold, pathological killer—not an easy accomplishment. That being said, I’ll never look at pork chops the same way again. Bottom line: Freddie Villacci, Jr, has quite a fertile imagination. Couple that with the discipline to write a complex thriller and you’ve got a page turner. Looking forward to the second installment!

The FBI newbies, Maddox and Foxx, are two FBI agents that are on the case of murdered US Senator Gary Bryson and with a little luck they will find not only find his killer but also the trail to the top of an international crime syndicate. This story moves along at lighting speed making it one of my favorite action/suspense novels in 2020. Freddie Villacci Jr. does a fantastic job weaving together the characters and story around a high stakes’ nationwide manhunt. American billionaires and there top-notch security are no match for Bic Green, the Black Ghost, who has a talent for hiding in plain sight. I can’t help but to root for Bic, a loveable assassin with a mission. This fast paced page turner is highly recommended!

"It's pork chop eating time." This strange message, along with a raw pork chop, is the signature of an assassin called the Black Ghost. Bic Green is just trying to do one last job in order to fund his goddaughter's cancer research. His usual targets are "bad" people, but this list of 10 is a little different and Bic starts to have doubts about his assignment.

Two rookie FBI agents, Mack Maddox and Caroline Foxx, become involved in trying to solve the mysterious deaths of the richest billionaires, while at the same time proving that they are worth more than being tied to a desk.

The story moved at a fast pace, but was rather disjointed at times. There were a ton of characters to keep track of and a lot of different settings as the author jumped between scenes. I would have liked to know more about the characters in order to better relate to the story. This book reminded me of some spy-thrillers I have read and I became lost along the way at times. And, the ending really came out of left-field and seemed like it was just a setup to another book in a series. I would definitely read another book by this new author and hope that his character development and cohesiveness improves with time.

The narrator, Scott Brick, did his usual great job, but sometimes his performance was a little over the top. But, his narration did add a lot to the book and kept my interest. I was given the chance to listen to this book by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.

This one is a 3.5 stars for me as I'm torn on how I feel about it. The story was interesting and kept me guessing with lots of twists and turns. However, some of the characters were way to over the top and the FBI agents were kind of idiots at times, plus the sexual tension between them was distracting and unnecessary but the hokiest part was the assassin's "tag line" before killing his victims - "It's pork-chop eating time!" was just plain stupid.

This book is just really dumb. Maybe the basic storyline might be ok… but the descriptions and dialogue make it seem like a parody of a hard boiled thriller. The “good cop” is too good, like a puppy and the bad cop and the killer (and their back story issues) are just caricatures.

“It’s pork chop eating time!”

This tag line is just as dumb as you think it’s gonna be and there are a lot more where that came from.

Don’t bother.

"That's enough to kill for."
Bic Green, a hit man known simply as Black Ghost, has a singular calling card: a pork chop bought at a specific butcher's shop and left with the victim and the words, 'It's pork chop eating time,' His lifetime of killings caused him no regret, the victims always were bad men, and deserved it. Until he was hired for one last, magnificently paid, job, to take out ten of the country's richest men in just twenty one days. This he proceeds to do in spectacularly ingenious ways. Two rookie FBI agents start to suspect a pattern and, despite opposition, try to find out who else might be targeted, and why? This book is a fast action kaleidoscope of threat, death, drugs, hacking and political intrigue and very dark, with just a tiny, tender thread of hope. Hey there are elements of humour in there also.

The narration of this violent story has to be slick and Scott Brick is superb, helping to bring the whole picture to life with his clear and well modulated reading and perfect pacing. He also gives separate voicings to all of the numerous protagonists: a masterful performance.

My thanks to the rights holder of Black Ghost, who, at my request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Audiobook Boom. Did I enjoy it? The relentless fast action is breathtaking, the murders bizarre and ingenious, the breadth of the political interference terrifying and characterization good. It is a thriller which seems to skim the surfaces between reality and laugh out loud fiction and will keep the reader riveted from start to conclusion. But 'enjoy' is not the right word: more like mesmerised, I think.

This book is my first experience with Freddie Villacci, JR. I was given an Audible code for this book and I so grateful for the gesture. I stayed up all night listening to this novel. It was everything and more than I even had the presence of mind to imagine. The characters are wonderfully developed and the story line grabbed me from Scott Brick's opening. He does and awesome job of bringing this fast paced novel with a twist at every turn to life. The emotions that this piece creates are all over the map and the plot kept me guessing until the end. I am going to look for more work by both the author and the narrator. Teamed up they are a force to be reckoned with. I highly recommend this book to anybody who enjoys serious suspense and adrenaline spikes without chemicals.

This is an action-packed thriller -- the kind of audiobook that Scott Brick makes great with his outstanding narration. The character development is a bit weak, making it somewhat difficult to like any of the characters. The story is quite exciting and suspenseful, but I really do not like the ending. I feel it doesn't fit with the rest of the storyand it's too "supernatural" for my taste. That said, it's a solid entry in the thriller genre.

Note: I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I didn't hesitate to give this author 5 stars. This read is so much fun! Well, if you call the day to day activities of a highly functioning hired assassin fun. But it really is, the chapters are quick and there is nothing in them that doesn't belong. The author does not waste any words or unnecessary plot points. I'm not the best reviewer, I just know what I like. If readers like greed for personal gain, crooked politics, mismatched law enforcement partnerships, and clever ways to take out a human target then this is your book. Bonus points for not having gratuitous sex and language and still keeping it hard edged.

The discomfort starts slowly and becomes terror as you proceed.

The plot seems common but the journey soon begins to trap you.
As the terror grows you find you want to stop reading, but can't.
That's what I like.

Was that Voodoo at the end? Didn't really get it, but the book was very entertaining although a bit macabre. Most of the characters had some pretty disturbing upbringings and made bad decisions in their past.

Nonsense

Nonsense is The 1st word that comes to mind. I won't spoil it if you intend to read this book But the ending is absolutely ridiculous. No I will not be reading more of this man's books. I expect the author thought he was being cute.
