Well what can one say…..

Exceptional again. What a story and what a ride. Free flowing and paced to perfection, keeping you turning pages from beginning to end.

Once again we’re woven into a world that is full of life and leaves you wanting to know more and more.

I can’t wait for the next one and if you haven’t read this yet then get the series and enjoy…

Excellent. May favorite installment in the Drakmoor series so far. Mr Kerns wonderful writing has improved even more as well. Along with being the best adventure so far it was certainly the most well written. I’m also a sucker for when isekai protagonist get to come back, especially if they get to bring someone from their new world with them. Though in that vein I wish a little more time was spent showing Kiri the wonders of the modern world. But that just a nitpick barely worth mentioning. I can’t wait for “The Fall of Skullkeep.” Keep up the great work Mr Kerns!

Entertaining Read

Gavin and Kiri find themselves on earth, in Gavin's home town. Why are they there? It is great fun watching Gavin deal with bullies and government functionaries who can't quite grasp the concept that someone exists with vastly more power than they have. Biting a dragon's tail can be counter productive. So is trying to harm Gavin's daughter. I like the action, humor, and romance. I look forward to the next book.

Great read

I thoroughly enjoyed this segment of the story as much as I am enjoyed the previous books. I’m looking forward to the next book and hope I don’t have to wait too long. I’ve grown attached to these characters which is a high compliment. It takes a great writer to make a character real enough to care about them, to love them or hate them.

Very enjoyable series. “Hero’ suffers fools poorly; has strong sense of what is right. #4 seemed best to me. His other series is even better. I re read the series periodically when other authors have bored me and never have been bored by Mr. Kerns thus far!

3 That is Monumentally Unwise Of Them Stars

Home Sweet Home is the fourth book in the Histories of Drakmoor series by Robert M. Kerns.

Okay, I would like to preface all the negativity I'm about to unleash on this review with the genuine agreement that it was a definite benefit to include this excursion to Gavin's connection to Earth in his journey as the Archmagister. It opens us up to the transition he faced between these dueling aspects of what comprises his character. Allowed some positive influence over his heavy weight of responsibility, and the general negativity his role inflicts on him within his daily life, by bringing his family into play.

Now, this:
I completely agree with how Kerns portrayed the United States government within this book, and can say with all honesty if this situation presented itself I would travel to West Virginia and plead to go to Tel Mivar to escape this world. However, I think Kerns overly played up his Kirloth persona even when he actively wasn't in 'Kirloth mode'. Maybe in some way trying to pinpoint the overall affect his life on Drakmoor changed him from the very first moment there? While I wouldn't say it felt 'forced' or inorganic to the character, I do believe at the same time it didn't feel true to the character either. Why would the man who goes out of his way to work with each of the individual races of Drakmoor to build up the old alliances and strengthen them as a whole, completely disregard the entirety of the Earth human race? (And their multitude of governing bodies.) Especially given how he, rightfully so, recognizes them as the descendants of Drakmoor's Refugees..? Keeping the Earth, with all its deep-seated corruption included, and Drakmoor as entirely separate entities isn't plausible.... While I can recognize and understand, as he said, that they have progressed in completely different paths of evolution. The are undeniably linked. The only organic assumption to be made is that there are bound to be people from Earth who would probably find safe harbor, or more options for it, on Drakmoor. And perhaps Drakmoor Natives who may want to reconnect with their distantly related descendants of the refugees. Probably in similar cases as the Sivas family, hopefully not overly similar, as when the family has either no surviving members or heirs....?

It seemed like the whole purpose of this book is three part: To reintroduce the entirety of their magic back into the world after resolving a 5000 year old leak, to magically bring a large and powerful fighting force into the equation with the appearance of the Guardian Dragons becoming known, and to introduce another Kirloth into the Society so as to keep the operations that require one without the capacity of the role of Archmagister's influence.

I can only say I will excited to continue this journey in the sequels and see how the author, in any way or even at all, incorporates the influence of Earth into the upcoming books. I have distinct feeling that this apathy is going to bite him, if at any time in the future some nefarious character is capable of traveling to Earth and using their power to create mayhem on what accounts to being a truly vulnerable and defenseless group.

Disappointing addition to the series

I enjoyed the previous volumes, but this one went off the rails. Gavin was strong and sometimes ruthless in the other books, and he always worked toward a greater good. In this novel, he’s back on Earth, and he’s a selfish bully. He never considers how his actions will affect the world. And worse, he doesn’t care. Good people die? So what? The economy crumbles? Not his concern, even though it’s his fault. In this book, you like everyone EXCEPT Gavin, which is the opposite of the previous books. It’s a celebration of “might makes right”, but I would argue that it is also a sad exploration of “power corrupts”.

Fun

This series is so much fun. Gavin can be dry. Both in his humor and regular dealings. Yet it makes him, bigger. That not exactly right and engaging is completely wrong. It gives him a charisma that you can't turn away from. He is a no nonsense kind of guy. Don't mess with him or his and everything is good. Mess with him or especially mess with his and well there is no helping you.

BRAVO! This series is a masterpiece! I can’t say enough wonderful things about it. The exceptionally talented way the author moves from one book to the next without reiterating large passages from the previous one show a respect for the read… the characters are charming and move the storyline along with grace. I now join the millions of readers who look forward to reading further books in the Histories of Drakmoor series.

Good series, but....

A good series up to the last few pages of this book. The author had the main character do something snarky and it left a bad taste. So I won't be reading the last book in the series, besides it's not available on Kindle unlimited. I gave this book four stars because I thought right up to that point the book was very entertaining and I enjoyed it

Interesting to see the developments in this book. A man coming back from the grave 13 years later got quite the muted response by all party involved. Either way I think Gaving (the author) cuddled to much Alex and Jennifer, what was the point of training them if he will need to alway come up to clean their mess, at least have them try to resolve their issues on their own.

Good strong story

A good strong story that I have reread several times, written by a Master of his art. I am not eloquent enough to speak on how good all his books are, but this author is one of the few I enjoy looking for new books.

Fantasy and reality

SPOILER ALERT This was a book that I’ve never seen occur in any other portal progression fantasy. The main character is sent back home to his original world with all his powers, memories, and new mindset. What follows is very entertaining

A good read

I do like this book the b only problem I have is that the main character is getting a god complex. He believes that the law does not apply to him because of power.
