This book was somewhere between okay to good.
The h was fantastic! Her parents were in a carriage accident four years ago, leaving her mother dead and her father mentally ill. She is running the musical printing shop on her own and putting on a concert to showcase her father's brilliant work. She runs into obstacle after obstacle. Her opera singer takes off, she is robbed of all her money, the theater owner is sexual harassing her along with demanding the rent pd early, her house is falling apart, and the bank won't do business with a woman- just to name a few... Yes I said a few! All these problems would have anyone falling apart, instead she faces every problem and works to find a solution. She's extremely strong and I so admired her for it.
The H is the typical tortured rake. After kissing the h at a party, he cannot get her out of his head. I liked him a lot. He was very supportive of the h.
The villian of the story was a little one dimensional. I do like how the h senses right away that there was something wrong with him and tries to avoid him.
You would think with such great characters I would have rated this book higher. I don't know why but I couldn't get into the story. I felt like it was missing something, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it was just my mood or that the story was very predictable.

Olivia is an odd woman for a granddaughter of a duke. She works in her father's print shop after he is injured and her mother is killed in a carriage accident. She wants only to make her own way. Olivia decides, unfortunately, that if she had a husband she would have an easier time of it with the bankers and her shop. She decides on a man, only to find him enamored of another woman. She grabs the first man she meets and kisses him. And oh what a kiss it is.
Nicholas is shocked when the beautiful woman kisses him. He instantly wants to know who she is. The more he learns about her, the more he wants her. He believes he can make her fall for him until her cousin accuses him of getting her with child. Now he has to prove that he wasn't the man who impregnated her cousin and help Olivia with her quest to be her own woman.
A Stranger's Kiss is refreshing because Olivia is a working woman and not one living in the lap of luxury looking for a suitor. She is independent and lives to take care of her father. Starts Off Well, Then Goes Completely Off the Rails
Well, this book started off with a fantastic first scene. The heroine quite boldly kisses the man who turns out to be the hero of the book to make her philandering nearly betrothed jealous. The kiss sparks the entire rest of the novel because both of them were affected. It is a steamy, well described kiss.
I absolutely adored the heroine at first. Unlike many Regency heroines, she is not of either the nobility or gentry. She is a working young woman who runs her father's music shop and printing press after he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a carriage accident (which killed her mother) that leaves him confused and out of sync with time. The heroine struggles mightily to keep everything together without much help. She has big dreams about having her father's magnum opus played in a major theater in town (London). She has even contracted with the theater and an opera singer to get everything in motion. But all of this unravels as she struggles in the first half of the book.
The hero is a charming rake, as they usually are. The heroine, unfortunately, learns a possible secret about the hero from her cousin that casts him in a very bad light. This is the crux of my problem with this book. I absolutely loved the strength of the heroine in the early parts of the book, as she tried to keep everything together even as one bad thing happened after another. I loved it when she stood up to her maternal grandfather, who had disinherited her mother, and therefore, her. She was super strong willed in dealing with her father and grandfather and trying to make the concert happen against all odds.
So, why then did she become a spineless, wavering young woman when this potential issue with the hero came up? Why would she trust her cousin—whom she just met—any more than this man she’d just met? (And especially after seeing the cousin’s reaction when she and the hero meet in the presence of the heroine.) Certainly, why would she trust the opinions of another man whom she has actually seen in a contentious discussion with the hero? Clearly, these two do not get along, so why would she think that he would have no reason to lie, but the hero would? She goes back and forth in her opinions on him rapidly, even though he's basically treated her with respect and kindness—although, perhaps, a bit too forwardly with all the stolen kisses. I got so frustrated with the heroine that I nearly gave up on the book as these absolutely silly events just kept stacking up. I hate it when heroines appear to be so strong at first, but then become hopelessly confused—with opinions shifting like the wind—and almost blind in one area (the hero, in this case).
So while I liked a lot of the book, this part just rubbed me the completely wrong way. I do not feel like I can recommend this book.

Olivia dreams of having her father's music played in the Theatre Royale, a dream she almost ready to see be achieved. But first, she must help her cousin Deborah with her predicament of bringing one Lord Nicholas Blair to heel and do the right thing and marry her. Lord Blair did ruin Deborah after all.

In true Regency fashion, a rogue meets his match and yearns to make her his. All because she wanted to make her almost-fiancé jealous.
This was my first Tara Scott novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. What’s not to enjoy? A dashing Peer who became a rake due to a broken heart. A disowned Lady struggling to keep a roof over her family’s head. She brings out his nobility and he helps her family. He cares not a whit that she’s not his equal and loves her fire, strength and determination. She’s been dealt several tragedies but manages to be uncowed, even in the face of her dour grandfather.
One of the things I loved about this story is that Olivia truly is a woman of spunk and grit. Some romances describe their heroines as such, but Olivia is the real deal. I love her for it. She has her moments when she’s overwhelmed, which makes her so very human, but she never gives in for very long. Instead, she chooses to *do* something rather than wait to be rescued. (Even though, in the end, Nicholas solves most of her problems, the more challenging ones she handles herself.)
The supporting characters were endearing, too. None of them were perfect, but they relished in doing good, which made me love them in spite of their churlish exteriors. (Deborah’s crying was the most annoying, but she was still likable enough that I overlooked it.)
It’s a truly enjoyable tale and the terrible cop who started it all quickly disappears and is replaced by someone infinitely better.
Be warned that this is a saucy rather than sweet Regency romance.

There is a little bit of mystery and subterfuge in this well written romance by Tarah Scott.

I gave this book 4.25 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization.

Steppin' up! Tarah not only hit the motherload, she brought the house down with this mind blowing, block buster that raises the stakes and ushers in a chart topping, page flipping delight. Chaos and mayhem sets the pace as shenanigans run rampant with this engaging tumultuous adventure that thrusts this baby to life beautifully. Add the misunderstandings, distress and turmoil catapulting a bounty of swirling emotions bursting into play front and center. Coping with the trials and tribulations, skirting the sharp curves, clean lines along with thrilling bumps thrusting this gem up a few levels sleek, shiny and tight. The chemistry and connection is solidly intertwined so deeply and strong enough to bend. The characters are well developed, authentic and believable. Their on point personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out perfectly. The realism and authenticity of the characters as their on point personalities blend and flow along with the graphically detailed scenes thrust this baby to a whole new level. Remarkable job Tarah, thanks for sharing this baby with us.

This is a delightful story about a young woman, Olivia, on the fringes of society trying to keep her fathers print ship afloat as he suffers from loss of memory. He is a talented musician that her mother married and was then disowned by her father Duke of Lennox. Her now deceased mother was much admired by society and there are still those who include Olivia on their guest lists As she attends parties etc to take orders for sheet music she works closely with an opera singer, Louisa whose performances lead to orders for the printed music. Desperate to save her fathers business Olivia is considering marriage to a young man she doesnt even like until she catches him in the garden embracing another young woman, as she turns to flee she literally runs into a stranger (Nicholas as we learn later), she reaches up and kisses him to SHOW the other young man, this amusing scene was the first of many encounters. It just gets better from this point. Lots of action, twists and turns before an inevitable HEA

Olivia is not looking for a husband, all she wants is to produce her father’s music on the stage and get them out of debt. After a serious carriage accident that killed her mother, her father’s suffered a brain injury and needs full time care. Nicholas appears on the scene and later an attachment starts but Olivia has her priorities and now marriage is not one of them. There is a lot going on in this story including the unwanted attention of Lord Randall, a pregnant cousin and a grandfather who disowned her mother when she married Olivia’s father. It is a great story of a woman who is trying to bring her fathers music to life in a time when women stayed in the background and the romance is a great addition to the story. I would recommend this as a good read.

This was an awesome read with wonderful characters and a great plot that I couldn't stop reading. I loved Nicholas and Olivia and watching them trough out the story they have a great chemistry and sparks fly when they meet. Olivia is trying to bring her fathers music to life by having it played in the Theater Royale. Olivia is determined to marry a man who she will love and that will love her back. There's misunderstandings, scandals and music with a great beautiful love story. It's a must read for any fan and I can't wait to read more from this author!!!

Music and love go hand in hand.
In this one perhaps a spur of the moment kiss will bring much more to Olivia's life. Olivia's main wish is to put her father’s music on stage and right now marriage is not something she was after. Nicholas does have other ideas after that kiss and getting to know Olivia. This is a romance with so much more to offer the reader. I loved every minute I spent reading this brilliant piece. This is one you should pick up I know why not give yourself an early Christmas present you will be glad you did. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Nicholas does have other ideas after that kiss and getting to know Olivia. This is a romance with so much more to offer the reader. I loved every minute I spent reading this brilliant piece. This is one you should pick up I know why not give yourself an early Christmas present you will be glad you did. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

The Mad Printers Daughter
Ah a bit spicier than book one. Who doesn’t love a man that knows what he wants and goes for it. “A true man kisses the woman he’s interested in- precisely like that” from chapter one, I melted at that point. And what is it with opera singers they’re all hussies. I did feel that Olivia and Lord Blair were well enough aquatinted that she should have had more faith in him were Deborah was concerned. The ending was nice I was glad her grandfather had a change of heart. Tarah Scott is one of my favorites and I recommend any and all of her books.

This was a steamy tale about a stubborn printer trying to save her father’s business and a charming, reformed rake willing to do what it takes to convince her he is serious about marriage. There are also elements of betrayal, blackmail, regret, despair, friendship, family issues, sacrifice, hope, and love. Potentially Olivia was a teeny bit headstrong for headstrong’s sake, but aside from that this was a terrific story, and I can’t wait to read what Tarah Scott writes next.

I enjoyed reading this book and truly fell in love with Olivia. She is sassy and self sufficient and completely her own woman which for this time period was truly incredible. There was romance, intrigue, mystery and action. Overall it was a good story!
My biggest qualm was this was an INCREDIBLY slow burn book with, in my mind, little pay off. The first 80%+ of the story is like completely clean. And their chemistry was so great I just wish there had been more sexy times!

A Stranger's Kiss is the second book in the Lords of Chance series. I loved this historical romance. The characters are well developed and most are likable. The storyline is well written, with blackmail, suspense, drama, redemption, forgiveness, and a wonderful romance. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

Olivia found her betrothed kissing another in the hedgerow and as she turned to run away she ran into Nicolas and kissed him. She didn’t know this random stranger would persue her so relentlessly. They had quite the journey to get to their HEA. Fun and intriguing story

A Stranger's Kiss is the second book in the Lords of Chance series, and is just as good as the first book. I enjoyed reading and following Olivia and Nicholas's wonderful story. I look forward to reading more from this author.
