Where do you turn for help when illness or injury strikes? No matter how bleak the prognosis, you can find hope and healing in Jesus. Through her work as an intensive care nurse, Tracy Crump witnessed lifesaving miracles when everyone involved had given up--everyone except God. She cared for patients, family, and friends experiencing major health crises and offered encouragement no matter the situation, knowing we don't always experience healing in this life.
Crafted with unique examples of God's miraculous power and saving grace, Health, Healing, and Wholeness blends Scripture-rich meditations with biblical principles that highlight God's mercy in times of medical need. Moving stories of a mother's sacrifice, children overcoming catastrophic accidents, the beauty of a life well lived, and joy despite traumatic brain injury instill hope.
Whether you are experiencing a medical crisis, walking alongside someone who is, or caring for a loved one, these thirty devotions will bring comfort and peace. Prepare to embark on a journey to wholeness.
The Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. (Malachi 4:2NLT)
Tracy brings to life the scenes set before her in her life as a nurse. The vivid details feel as if I am there with her. I, myself, have received a bath while in the hospital. There was only one that was as kind, heartfelt and faithful as Tracy's. I was bathed with care while my CNA prayed over me. Tracy's description of the bath brought it to life and transported me back to my bath in the hospital room.
You'll enjoy reading these devotionals for yourself or a loved one. Caregivers can appreciate them, as well. While caring for my mother, I bathed her in her hospital room and understand the process all too well.
While I have only touched on one of these stories in this devotional, there are many that touch your soul. Delight in them and the Lord delights in you. Find hope. If you're looking, it's always there.
My mom battled breast cancer and only months after her death my husband was diagnosed with leukemia. Walking alongside a loved one facing critical health issues, and caring for them when they cannot take care of themselves, is such a privilege. But the emotions and exhaustion that accompany the privilege are so heavy. I speak from experience when I say Health, Healing & Wholeness shines a light in the darkness for caregivers as well as those struggling with a health crisis. Tracy Crump’s devotions offer stories of hope and challenge me to adjust my focus from a situation I can’t control to my heavenly Father who is in control. Each devotion is a quick read but packed with powerful reminders that strengthen my faith for the journey. Her words hit the perfect balance to comfort and challenge your heart. I purchased a few copies of this devotional to keep on hand. Often when someone I know faces a diagnosis, I want to do something to help but don’t know how. Now I have a gift I can share.
What an encouraging and hope-filled devotional book. It’s so well-written and thoroughly steeped in the truth of God’s Word. The scriptures author Tracy Crump chose for the devotions are absolutely perfect for each one’s message, and the messages presented are powerful and so needed whether or not the reader is going through a health crisis or time of caregiving. In fact, I think everyone can benefit from the messages in this devotional, though of course I’m sure it will especially hit the spot for those dealing with health situations. The book ministered to me and I know it will to all who read it. Highly recommend.
(Note: This paperback is a slim volume that will fit easily in a purse, messenger bag, computer bag, or tote, making it easy to take to appts, hospital stays, or for caregiving hours, etc.)
If you're like me, navigating life and health in 2020 was a challenge! Many of my family and friends faced illness and loss, and we all asked, "How do I handle this?" The author's perspective as a nurse and her interactions with people facing a life-altering health crisis is unique and fresh. Her skill in weaving scriptural truth with real experiences is unmatched. This book brought me tremendous comfort and hope, and I'm planning to give copies to people I know who struggle with deep spiritual questions because of their poor health or that of a loved one. God still does miracles today. If you don't believe that, read several of these devotions and see if God doesn't change your mind!
May 21 2021 I was thrilled to receive an advance copy of Tracy Crump's book of devotions, Health, Healing, and Wholeness: Devotions of Hope in the Midst of Illness. Whatever medical crisis you face, or any of those you care for, this book will be a go-to for encouragement as you read of God's hand on people for whom there was no medical hope. I will do a further review when the book is available on June 1.
Taking a minute out here to say, I feel certain all the devotions in this book will be just as tenderly and compassionately written as the ones I've read in the first half of this book. If you're looking for sweet stories of hope in the midst of hopelessness, pain, and disease, this book will lift your spirits and give you the inspiration and the courage to keep trusting Jesus
An insightful devotional in which the author draws from her personal experience as a ICU nurse to relay Biblical truths in a very relatable way. Each entry includes Scripture and a thoughtful prayer focus which offer hope to the hurting.
“Health, Healing, and Wholeness” will inspire you to persevere though the toughest of circumstances. As an intensive care nurse, author Tracy Crump has seen her fair share of tragedies and miracles. In this brief devotional book, Tracy recounts real life stories of faith, healing, and love she witnessed in both her patients’ lives and her own personal life. Whether you are a loved one, caregiver, or the patient, this book can help you see beyond the physical and uncover divine spiritual truths.
If I’d had this book a year ago, I surely would have found its messages of hope, peace, and resiliency even more edifying and comforting than I do today. When you are in the eye of the storm, it’s very hard to see a way out of the fear and uncertainty that engulfs you. It can feel like a blessing just to get to the next minute, let alone the next day. During these times, it becomes even more important to seek God through the words of other believers who have gone through the darkness before you and can explain how they came out on the other side.
Each devotional in this short book begins with a harrowing medical story, and moves on to show the impossible becoming possible through the faith of those afflicted. This book has stories of those who overcame accidents, people who were stricken with deadly diseases, mysterious illnesses with no known cause, children and the elderly who all made an impact on the author in some way. Tracy tells their stories with an authenticity that doesn’t promise miracles, but shares them when they occur. Each story ends with a personal prayer and a relevant scripture to help encourage you to attribute the lesson to your own circumstances. No more than a page and a half each, these stories are easily consumed in the midst of the more pressing matters going on in your daily life.
For caregivers, there are stories from Tracy on the importance of self-care. In caring for her elderly parents and seeing to all their needs, Tracy found herself facing her own health crisis. As difficult as it is to focus on yourself when taking care of others, it’s more important than ever to do so, and Tracy reminds us of this fact. I also liked the stories she shared of people who had to live with debilitating impediments, but who also still showed divine faith and love for the Lord. The last story about a young boy and his therapy horse was one of the most profound I’ve ever read. Yet, Tracy offers her readers an exceptional variety of circumstances that will help encourage you through whatever battle you happen to be facing.
This book would be the perfect gift for anyone going through difficulties, or anyone in need of spiritual renewal. It would be an ideal selection for people who enjoy daily devotionals, being that the stories are short and meant to instill a quick seed of encouragement. I especially recommend this book to someone facing an illness, and to their loved ones who suffer as well. These stories and the accompanying scriptures would make a good companion to your Bible study, and enliven your prayer life.
Tracy Crump’s devotions, written through personal experiences as an intensive care nurse, offer hope to anyone dealing with a health crisis. This book is perfect for caregivers, family members dealing with a loved one’s health challenges, patients, professionals in the medical field, first responders – anyone dealing with a medical illness or diagnosis! Tracy’s personal experiences make each one of these devotions come alive! Tracy offers hope amidst those serious, and often, miraculous circumstances, but my particular favorite devotion revolved around laughter: the best medicine! I could just see the author’s mother careening in her wheelchair through the parking garage, heading straight towards a parked SUV! (She was unharmed, by the way and retained her sense of humor through the event!) Grab more than one copy of her book and plan to share when someone you know faces a health challenge! You’ll be glad you did. - Julie Lavender, author of 365 Ways to Love Your Child: Turning Little Moments into Lasting Memories (Revell)
A beautiful and inspiring devotional for anyone seeking hope and peace. I would recommend this book especially for someone in the midst of illness or suffering. Very well written and engaging!
Tracy Crump delivers us a beautiful collection of devotions that can help inspire hope when dealing with the stress of a health crisis. Her experience as an ICU nurse gives her insights that surpass those of us who have not worked in the medical field. The individual devotions can apply to your own illness, that of a friend or family member, and also to those who serve as caregivers.
Unlike many devotional collections, these are not arranged in such a way that you should read the first on a specific date and one every date after until completed. Each one is short and you can freely read as many or few as you want in a single sitting. It is unique in that all are tied to health issues. They are also easy for the reader to relate to his or her own situations and the author has creatively tied personal experiences or that of friends to the scripture quotes for each devotion.
I know that my family and friends to have faced major health problems over the years and am sure that there even more lie ahead. I am grateful to see a book of devotions that sets focus on this single issue and am certain that it will be a wonderful go-to volume the next time one affects my family.
I originally planned to read one devotional a day from this book, but once I started, I couldn’t stop until I finished. Tracy Crump does an excellent job at offering hope and encouragement as she shares personal stories and how she saw God work in difficult circumstances. She also gives us “life lessons” from each experience that we can apply to our own lives. I love how she begins and ends each day with a verse from the Bible. This would be a great gift to give to those who are in a hard situation and need encouragement and hope. And it’s a great book for all of us to read to remind us of God’s love and how His hand is at work. I couldn’t help but smile as I finished the last page. This is a book I’ll continue to go back to.
In the devotional, "Health, Healing, and Wholeness: Devotions of Hope in the Midst of Illness," the reader will experience God’s love and provision in each of the stories. Hope is the hallmark of this book. On these pages, one will see God in the lives of the author's patients. Former ICU nurse and author Tracy Crump delivers encouragement, faith, honesty, tenderness, and healing for the reader and those encountering suffering. Tracy draws from the experiences of her patients to help those with illnesses. She uses Scriptures and Biblical principles to help those walking through medical issues to see God's hand in their circumstances.
The past year has been challenging for many, and a good dose of positivity and hopefulness is certainly needed. In this book, the reader will see God at work in the lives of the people the author worked with in her former position as an ICU nurse.
Crump offers encouragement in her devotions, which are taken from personal experience with patients. Bible verses are well utilized. Many items will be relatable to readers going through their own medical challenges. It would make a good gift for those experience health issues, as well.
I enjoy reading a daily devotional, it gets my day started on the right path to walk with God. Everyone at some point in time will have to cope with a struggle in their life including their own illness or the illness of a loved one. Tracy has done a great job encouraging her readers to trust in God and wait for His deliverance in this world or in the next. Her stories are filled with scripture and encouragement that God loves us. I recommend reading Health Healing and Wholeness because it offers hope when life’s pathway is hard.
In today’s world we need messages of hope. The devotions in Health, Healing & Wholeness gives messages of hope. One devotion in particular touched my heart. About a community coming together so a patient could have a lifesaving surgery. I also love the scriptures Tracy Crump put in each devotion. I have personally bought two of these books to give to family members that have lost someone dear to them. This is the perfect gift.
I had the pleasure of reading an early copy of this book and endorsing it. Here is my heartfelt and honest endorsement:
Reading “Health, Healing and Wholeness: Devotions of Hope in the Midst of Illness” is like drinking from a cool stream on a long hike. Tracy’s words revive a weary soul and refresh a tired heart. I devoured this book in one sitting and I look forward to reading it again and again.
This is a wonderful book with words of hope and encouragement. No what crisis you or someone you care about is going through, the devotions in this book will give the hope to lean on our Heavenly Father. While you continually turn to God, you’ll feel and know He is in control. The devotional will have the right one to help you traverse any journey. It’s a wonderful book for or a someone you know going through a crisis. It’s available now.
Tracy Crump’s Health, Healing, and Wholeness is something we all need. Tracy’s experiences as an ICU nurse led her to meet God again and again in ways that many of us will only do once in a lifetime. Through the suffering, heartache, and hardship grew compassion, love, healing, and a deep-seated relationship with our creator. Tracy shares her poignant account in a way that gifts readers with God’s love on display. Everyone should read and benefit from this book.
When my book arrived on the porch, I made a cup of coffee and sat down to read. Three hours later, I closed the book, my soul saturated with hope. There are many on my prayer list in dire circumstances, and frankly-the doctors offer no hope. But, God! Tracy shares many stories of God's miraculous intervention, even at times when all hope seems lost. This is a must-read for all who are facing the impossible or are interceding in prayer for those who need a miracle.
With a gentle touch, Tracy Crump’s Health, Healing, and Wholeness offers generous doses of comfort and peace to patients, caregivers, family members, and friends. Her stories and related Bible verses encourage all readers to embrace and share the source of ultimate comfort and peace. As she says on page 10, “Physical touch is important, but it’s Jesus’ spiritual touch that makes us whole.”
This is one of the best devotional books I have ever read. Indeed, I read it at one sitting. Couldn’t put it down. Each entry is about something most people have experienced or whose family member or friend has experienced. The book is filled with hope and joy and exhilaration. I’ll be giving it for gifts. Thank you, Tracy, for sharing.
The author worked as an intensive care nurse, so each one of this month of devotions deals with reactions to health issues. Each one is framed with encouragement from Scriptures. This would make a compelling gift for anyone going through medical problems themselves, or someone caring for a loved ones living with difficult health.
I got so much out of reading each and every entry. They are all so positively written and encourages never to give up. The Lord often provides us with quality medical personnel. I highly recommend this concise devotional and know that you'll get as much out of it as I did.
May 12, 2021 - I was privileged to receive an advance copy of Tracy Crump's new devotional. When you get your copy, you'll find my endorsement in the first few pages of the book. I'll share my full review on June 1.
I absolutely loved this devotional book. It is filled with so much hope and it's filled with the love of Jesus through Tracy's words. I had a very calm and peaceful vibe while going through each devotion. If you know anyone going through anything, this is the book they need. I think it's perfect.
Tracy Crump's devotional collection connected with me on many levels. As I read her personal stories about patients and friends, I felt like I was reading about family. This book has caused me to reflect on my own experiences with a renewed sense of hope and comfort.
This was a good reminder that even when we are struggling with illness or other issues in our lives, God is still with us every moment of every day. I am currently waiting for spinal surgery and this book was a blessing!
