When the oracle predicted that Mirra would need to be rescued…Mirra is shocked to find the premonition unfold literally. When Silas Somerborne races to save the day, and rescues Mirra from certain death, she knows immediately that he’s the one she’s been waiting for. And yet, no matter how hard she tries, Silas pushes Mirra away.
Silas has spent his life escaping notice by living on the fringes of society where hard work and keeping his head down is all he knows. He’s content with his life as it is, and Silas certainly doesn’t need a bombshell beauty like Mirra to intrude. As far as he’s concerned, women could disrupt the course of even the most seaworthy sailor.
When danger comes to Siren Island, Silas must do his best to quell the threat and keep Mirra safe. However, is Silas actually the one who has needed rescuing all along?

This one was a little bit of a heart breaker for me. Not because there isn't an HEA because there is one; but because of Ms. O'Malley's descriptive writing of Silas. I loved visiting Siren Island again and visiting with Jolie, Mirra, Irma and Prince. I would love to meet Prince one day. Romance, family, a little suspense and magic made this one hard to put down.
Mirra has a premonition of danger and the premonition turns out to be true. She gets caught by a fishing trawler when trying to release some dolphins. Siles is a Marine enforcement officer and a loner. Tiles helps Mirra escape the fishermen and saves her life as she was caught in the net and left to drown. Siules and MIrra have an instant attraction but Silas is used to being on his own and feels he doesn't deserve a beauty like Mirra. But Silas must learn about family and people having his back when danger comes to the island. Fun romance and adventure!
I couldn’t put this book down! It was amazing! It was like I was there with the characters! I can’t get over the imagination Tricia O’Malley has, it is TrueType amazing! I know I use that word a lot ,but I don’t know how describe it any other way!
Too Good to Be True. Silas saves Mirra’s life, but can he accept what she is and the gift she offers when his life is threatened? Tricia O’Malley’s latest tale about the magical folk of Siren Island puts her characters in danger as drug smugglers try to gain a foothold. This dialogue driven story introduces a perceptive canine named Splash and lets series fans spend some more time with the all knowing island character, Prince. This is a book that begs to be read in one sitting. Highly recommend.
WELL THIS WAS SWEET, IF IT HAD BEEN MORE EXPLICIT, I WOULD HAVE RATED THIS 5 STARS - NO QUESTIONS ASKED. While I was smut-binging the entire weekend, it was wonderful to end it with an emotionally invested story. Of course, on a scale of 5, the intimacy and emotional level was a 3 for me. Nevertheless, I had a few snickering moments.
I have a healthy respect for women (not maneaters) who aren't afraid to approach a man - make the first move - because I sure as hell can't. Luckily, Mirra while persistent, knew her boundaries and didn't PESTER the man to the point where he would quit and run.
MIRRA was a lover. The type who had too much to give, maybe a little too nosey sometimes. I can even see her being a tree hugger if the situation calls for it, which explains how she was rescued by Silas when she got trapped in an illegal fishing net. This was slightly "fated lovers", so Mirra knew Silas was THE ONE for her, thus she pursued the hell out of him. Those moments were funny at times, the man was like a deer in headlights, not knowing what just hit him. 😂😂 I would have enjoyed watching this on film.
SILAS might as well have been an orphan, being the atypical story of a white trash kid, he learned early on to fend and survive on his own. Naturally, he doesn't trust easy, and life without commitments was easier. He never expected Mirra to crash into his life and uproot his quiet, peaceful and staid life. Needless to say, the man seemed desperate for a manual on how to navigate and deal with a bubbly and caring woman like Mirra...in fact, her entire family was a new species to him, the poor guy.
THE BEST PAST OF THE STORY?!! SPARKS, Silas's dog. It made me miss my own pet who passed away a year ago due to health complications. You can always trust a man who knows how to care for his pet.
OVERALL this was wholesome, though the ending was rather rushed or fast for my taste. I felt like the author never really delved into Silas getting to know Mirra more as a mermaid, so that was dissatisfying. Wasn't this a mermaid story? Where was the swashbuckling? I would have loved to see the calm after the storm, but throughout the story I felt Mirra and Silas never had a moment to just BE together.
Mirra is saved by Silas as she finished saving some dolphins. When Mirra sees Silas she immediately knows he’s the one she has been waiting for. Silas just keeps pushing her away, he’s always had to depend on himself and has spent his life trying to keep his head down and working hard. Silas has a dog named Splash that he has as his best friend. He likes his Captain at work and plays dominoes with some of the island people. Silas has never known love and Mirra wants to help him. Then trouble comes to the island and Silas tries to keep Mirra safe as well as take care of the threat. This is very good, fast reading book. Mirra is very loving, family oriented and wants to only heal Silas and be his partner. Silas has to learn to accept help and understand his feelings as they change toward Mirra and people in general. I would definitely read more books by this author and this series.
Mirra and Silas were great protagonists. She loving him right off the bat , knowing that he's the one as soon as she sees him. Silas, a loner fights her and her family every step of the way. Her mother and sister are of course mermaids as well although only half mermaid, half human. The husband and father was a full blooded merman. But he's dead and gone and their mother is all on her own except for her daughters, Jolee and Mirra. And the mermaid community and friends on land. But she's still lonely. Irma, the mother still feels grief over the loss of her loving husband. And in the next book, it promises a new long. I will be looking for that next book 6, " A Good Soul . I really enjoyed this audio version and would listen to more. The characters were easily portrayed by Amy Landon. And I also enjoyed the supporting characters too ! A great Fairytail, pun intended !
Mirra, a mermaid, learned from the Oracle that she would be saved by the man she is destined to love, and then she would save him. When she's trapped in a cable while saving dolphins from a fishing net, Silas, a sailor and Marine Enforcement officer, saves her. She tries to repay him, but he refuses to accept her gifts and pushes her away. My favorite part of this book is the mystery element introduced by Silas' fight against drug traffickers and a traitor within his team. During this, Mirra stays close to protect him. They both learn to love and appreciate all that entails as they save one another, and the reassurances Mirra gives Silas are beautiful! I highly recommend this series!!
I first read Ms O'Malley when I started her Grace Cove novels. I quickly moved on to her other series and was thrilled when she wrote the first Siren Island book. How can you go wrong with beautiful mermaids finding their true love on a Caribbean Island. This book is just another jewel (an aquamarine in fact) in Ms. O' Malley's crown. Can't wait for Irma's book next. Please hurry~
A story of love, souls, friends, family, action and romance what more can you ask for. Silas rescued Mira and she rescues him right back. Mira shows him how to love and accept love and hope. She teaches him that love and family is something that is good. Friends and family help each other because of love and it is a good thing. Strong characters can’t wait for Irma story.
This is the word for this amazing and delightful book! Tricia O'Malley is a magician with the written word. The Siren Island series is great and reading these books make you feel like you are part of the family of the island. I'm sure you will fall in love with Tricia"s books just like I did. Any and all of her books are magical and heartwarming. You won't want to miss them!!
I enjoyed this sisters story More than book 4. It has more adventure and action plus romanace To keep the reader interested.Just 1 correction needs to be made. The night he gets shot has a new moon Which keeps her hidden in the water because there's no light . Yet when she takes him into the cave There is a sliver of light coming in from above from the moon.
Mirra has got to be my favorite! I adored her personality through out all the other books. I'm so glad that her book ended as happily as the others. I had a few fears there for a while. I just hoped Silas could see how amazing Mirra is. And he deserved to be happy and loved. Took him long enough, but he didn't waste time when he finally realized it! I can't wait for the next book. I'm looking forward to seeing Irma finding her happy ending! She has helped everyone else find theirs.
Oh, how I love Siren Island! I love it when you can't put a book down. Magical realism takes you away to a life you can only dream of.
We are back for Mirra's story in Too Good to Be True. It's a story about breaking down barriers, accepting and learning to love, finding family and finally living, instead of just surviving.
I'm very much looking forward to Irma's story in book 6. 🧜🏼♀️💗
I love the characters and the way they are portrayed. I love the story surrounding these characters and the backstory for all of them. It truly make me want to believe there truly are mermaids living amongst us. Thank you Tricia for making me a believer.
What a lovely tale. Poor Salad didn't know how love d Could both save him and set him free! Mirra is the love he never knew he waited for even though he wore her likeness in the tattoo he acquired so many years past. They finally found each other and eventually realized they were supposed to be together forever.
Beautiful and soft hearted Mirra finds the man she believes is her one and only, just as her sister Jolie did in the previous book. Even Splash (the dog) knows his person and this beautiful mermaid are meant to be together - now if she can just convince her true love to take a chance on love - not always an easy task. Fun series!
I would recommend this to all romantics. It was lovely. Tricia really put love into every word that told these stories. She tells them as though she was there as the stories unfolded. She made me feel that I was there with them as they lived their lives, found happiness, and found true love.
I loved this book and the characters in it ! I was totally engrossed with the storyline! This book makes me yearn to live on an island and feel the ocean breeze and the sand beneath my feet! I read this book in one sitting,it was so good. Tricia O'Malley creates magic in her books and for that I am thankful!
I love Tricia O’Malley’s books I have read everyone of hers. This one is about love ,patience and breaking down walls. It has drama and suspense and is hard to put down. I loved it and am looking forward to the next one
I have been waiting to read this book, it was absolutely perfect, Silas and Mirri was perfect for each other, I can’t wait for the book about Irma to come out, oh please hurry with it
I can always trust Tricia O’Malley to create a world where love lives and hope springs eternal. Where friends and family are celebrated. Her stories are always so compelling and the characters that she creates are so special that you just can’t put it down. Thank you for another wonderful book.
Mirra is so kind hearted. She loves strong and hard. Silas didn't have a great childhood and had to learn to take care of himself. It took awhile for Mirra to get thru to him. It was a really great book.
This series is just so fun with all the mermaids and magic. Mirra is such a sweet soul and she is perfect for poor Silas who breaks my heart throughout this book. Looking forward to Irma's story next.
This is a very nice continuation of the Siren Island series and an enjoyable book to read. If you are looking for a romantic story with likable characters and gorgeous scenery, sit back and let yourself be carried away!
A soft hearted strong woman and a hard headed and hearted man make for a modern clash of the titans island style. Throw in a lovable "Splash ", some dolphins and those cunning mermaids and you have yourself a hit.
