This book starts with action, and the action doesn't let up. Cindy Bonds did a great job with her debut novel. The main characters struggle against internal battles and external forces as they work to stop an evil man who stays one step ahead of them throughout the story.

If you like Romantic Suspense, I recommend adding Hostage to your library.

Hostage by Cindy Bonds is just what the title of this review says. The book starts with a bang and doesn't slow down much until the end. This is a great read and, if you like mystery, you will not want to put the book down until you read one more page.

The characters in the book are all dealing with their separate issues and the author does a beautiful job of working through the trauma that exists, is inevitable, in certain types of jobs. The importance of love, forgiveness, and understanding that we need God are so important in this book and it should be on your reading list now!

Agent Macy Packer was taken as a hostage. She wants to forget the pain and the man that helped her through it, then disappears. Kane Bledsoe's scars serve as a reminder of his time in captivity. All he thinks about is the blue-eyed woman that saved him They meet. Macy is still in danger. Kane pushes himself into the investigation.

A great read with lots of action. The characters are interesting as they figure out the path for their lives. Tension stayed high at times. I look forward to more books by Cindy.

Hostage

What I liked: The struggles of keeping faith when everything crumbles and nothing is left. Also, mentioning Paul and the similarity to today’s struggles with believing God loves the messy and broken.
What I didn’t like: Both characters had a God-like complex, thinking Only they could save the day or that they were so important it had to be them that needed to do the sacrificing
What improvements: A little scattered and hard to follow after the compound. Then it got back on track again.

Action-packed from page one to the end!
Female protagonist Macy Packer is strong and human
The faith and grace elements are strong and consistent throughout the book
Professional therapy is encouraged for those suffering from PTSD and trauma
Great use of dialogue to keep the story moving forward
Enough but not too many characters to keep straight
Sometimes the plot doesn’t quite make sense
Romance goes a bit too fast and is unrealistic and cheesy

Refreshingly non-formulaic!

Appreciated characters whose faith journeys are organically central to the storyline rather than characters who happen to be Christians and also happen to be in a suspenseful story.

Very good!!

First book I have read by this author. Will read her writings again. There is faith, suspense, and some romance involved. The only con was I'd like to have a touch more info about the characters.

Forgiveness required

This is the second book by this author that I've read. Cindy Bonds stories grab you and won't let you go until you know the fate of the characters. They are a great read.

Surprising, disappointing

Capture, escape. . .repeat about 4 times. Lots and lots of gratuitous violence for a story heavy with a religious focus.

Good read

This book was a great read. It kept me wondering what was next. It has a lot of suspense and makes you wonder, who did it, who is the bad guy, how will they find him.

Excellent story line that grabbed me from the first page! I loved seeing the love grow between Kane and Macy. Watching Kane as he discovers a God who will never leave him brought that redemption thread in with a punch and I might have cheered a time or two. Seeing people find God in the midst of their strongest trials is one of my favorite story lines. Real struggles are balanced with God's mercy in "Hostage" and I highly recommend for fans of Dani Pettrey or Lisa Harris. The story is action-packed but with enough character growth and reality mixed in that you won't be able to put it down. I read it straight through in one sitting. Can't wait to see what the author writes next!
