Not much to say about this volume. It wasn't bad. It was lighthearted and fluffy. Closed up some stuff that started in the first volume and opened up another thing that leaves it open for more volumes if the author wanted. However, I also ended the first volume firmly believing that there didn't need to be more to close up anything that was left open. I didn't mind the open ending.

So while I didn't dislike this book, I didn't end it thinking that it was necessary to the story.

This isn't a bad sequel, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the first volume. Following her engagement to Harij, Rose has moved into the Azm mansion. This book revolves around her life among humans and her wedding preparation, so it unfortunately lost the witchy atmosphere that made the previous one so good. Instead, we get to see Rose trying to adapt while also sorting out her own feelings. It honestly feels so incredibly draggy, since she would make one step forward and three steps back. It really saps the magic out of the great relationship dynamics they had, and despite them having supposedly intimate moments, somehow they feel more distant instead. Her initial reaction towards every unfamiliar thing is rejection, so it's not like the wedding preparation is fun either.

There is a subplot involving Yašm, the second prince who is Harij's childhood friend and current master, and also a girl who is asking to be Rose's apprentice. This is where the pacing feels a bit off. If only this subplot reared its head earlier in the story, it would've been a more enjoyable read. The subplot is introduced so late into the book, and it also ends rather abruptly. I feel like Rose's back and forth progression with her relationship, along with the wedding preparation, could've been cut shorter and more highlight should've been given to the second half of the book. It's a lot more entertaining, and Rose and Harij also get more interactions that are closer to their relationship in the previous volume.

Still, it's a nice way to end the series. Rose and Harij get the happy ending they deserved, and I'm glad they did. I just wish there were more to it. It's not great, but it's okay. You might like it more than I do if you like fluff, and if you're fine with other issues getting shoved aside as long as it ends happily.

Eu não quero me lembrar disso, manchou o primeiro volume.

Problema 2: Muito mal resolvidas as questões anteriores.

"“Yes, it’s indeed so.”
“At that time, Roze fell in love with me. Wasn’t that so?”
Roze becomes speechless—
—how did he know!?
Towards the gaping Roze, Harij’s expression, which is laughing, turns into a shocked
one almost immediately.
Roze notices her blunder.
He’s trying to make a joke to make Yashm laugh.
Here, Roze is expected to say, “that’s not true!”
Harij probably expects Roze to say so, since he thinks that’s the truth.
Since it’s only recently that Roze became aware of Harij’s love, he probably thought
Roze’s feelings for him only started to bloom a little while ago.
Roze is a witch, and a witch doesn’t lie.
As his eyes turn wide, Harij’s cheeks turn slightly red.
He has grasped the meaning of Roze’s silence."

"Roze notices the glance, and swallows her saliva—she has an unpleasant premonition.
“Wh, what is it?”
“Didn’t I tell you this before? I had fallen for you long before I even took that Love
Potion.”"
E ao contrário é isso. Ele diz, ela aceita.

"“I want you to marry me.”
When Harij said that, he denied Roze’s claim that he was still under the potion’s influence.
…thinking about it now, perhaps those words really were caused by the Love Potion.
Why doesn’t she consider the possibility at all?
Roze, who has lived without being in contact with people, may have been aware that deep down, he didn’t mean it.
In short, the one that led her feeling astray, is herself.
Because Harij looked really serious and natural when he proposed, Roze accepted.
Never once did she consider that it might be the jest of an aristocrat."
Adeus e obrigado, dúvidas e incertezas.

Agora, o casamento.

"Roze turns towards all the attendees.
“All of you, close your eyes, please!”
All the attendees give their respect to the innocent bride and close their eyes.
Even the priest closes his eyes.
Roze lifts her chin for Harij.
Harij isn’t the slightest bit stupefied by his new wife, who is changing the progress of
the ceremony—and instead, waits for her calmly.
Roze finally closes her eyes tightly.
Harij cups Roze’s cheeks, and embrace her waist.
Then—…
~fin."

A segunda, inicialmente estava assustada.

Well, now I know why the wedding wasn’t included in the first volume – because this volume is purely the planning process of it! And honestly, though it took me a while to complete, it’s not because I didn’t like it. If anything, the slice of life was still very there. But, in truth, it’s because this sequel goes a lot slower than the first one.

The first novel was very much about learning about Rose and what a witch was along with who is Harij and why Rose loves him so. It’s very focused on keeping Harij around along with the moments between them that tease us of what’s to come. But the second one has a lot to be desired in terms of pacing.

And I can absolutely agree this brings the sequel down quite a bit.

But let me be clear that the reason makes sense: ROSE is going through a severe culture shock of living both in her hermitage and the mansion with her fiancee. She’s learning a lot about what humans do (or more specifically, what a knighted noble would do) but, again, I can see how this crawl could dissuade even fans of the first book.

However, once your conscious shift to view Rose as someone who’s potentially neurodivergent and asexual, it’ll click and the pacing will start to make sense more. While it’s not outright stated in the text itself, she makes it very clear that she doesn’t understand or follow social cues that everyone knows and it’s a familiar feeling to me; though I’ve grown up in American society, there’s so much I still don’t understand or can’t wrap my head around. So if you’re looking for a somewhat similar representation, then you might find yourself in Rose even more so in this volume.

And what makes it even more of a shiny recommendation to continue this series: Harij actually respects her boundaries once she sets them! I know the bar is on the ground (not even) and Harij made it but it’s so important for writers and readers to take note of when it comes to building a couple like them and showing how they care for one another.

However, the pacing is still very much an issue. There’s something I’d like to call “commercial prejudice” – meaning it’s a prejudice that’s presented in media that does not seem to reflect any actual prejudice (that’s either overly done as in, an extreme version of real-life prejudice or just prejudice that’s so comically unrealistic, it’s used as a pedestal for preaching) and this is something that Rose experiences from the prince character.

And yeah, it’s meant to show that the prince was a dick but everything worked out a little too well that, honestly, annoyed me and annoyed me more because it was near the end of the book. It almost made me wonder why this subplot was even in the story to begin with if the prince didn’t really learn anything and all we’d get is just more commercial prejudice anyway towards Rose when the prince throws an apology ball.

Another thing that could grate a reader is the number of times Rose and the narration repeats the fact Rose is a witch. They hammer it so much, that it’s just truly annoying at that point so I wouldn’t blame readers for getting annoyed at that too.

I will say though, especially if you’ve been rooting for Rose and Harij, you’ll love how the ending teases you and it made me love this series all over again.

Would I be okay with a third book? Sure, why not – but I truly do not expect a third volume from this and I’d only recommend this if you don’t mind the slower pacing and the repetition of how much of a witch Rose is.

2.5 rounded up to 3

While many of the elements that made the first volume so great are still present here, somehow it wasn't as charming. The book description is that Rose is now living with Harij as his fiancee, but in actuality, she goes to live with him before officially accepting his proposal. I imagined the book would be full of sweet and fluffy moments together, getting to know each other while strengthening their bond. It was, in a way, but more of the book was about Rose making sense of her feelings and getting over her insecurities. In theory, it's a good premise, but I didn't enjoy how hot and cold Rose was. Moreover, I couldn't understand why she deliberately let several misunderstandings stand uncleared for the duration of the novel. She's so used to being on her own and speaking vaguely are understandable but at the same time, it's like she didn't seem to have the intention of growing, maturing. However, above even Rose's behavior what I disliked most about the novel was the side characters. The house staff, the other knights, the blasted prince Yasm, were all too cookie-cutter and shallowly written. It brought no joy to read about them.

The highlights of the novel were really the cute interactions between the main pair. Although not as many as the first volume, they had moments of progress dotted throughout the story. The ending was especially cute.

Vol. 2 was wonderfully fluffy and sweet, just as the first book!

If you are looking for something easy and light to pick you up after some heavy reading or just heaviness in life, this series is the one to read.

The first volume was a bit better, in my opinion, but this was still a stellar addition to the previous story, and I loved seeing Rose and Harij's relationship develop a bit further. I hope the author continues into a third installment so that we can get a peek into Rose and Harij's married life, as well as the process of Rose training her new apprentice!

Compared to the first volume, I didn’t enjoy this as much. Yes, I enjoyed their interactions, but the first book had me quickly reading it because I needed to see their relationship develop. In this one, the romance felt a little lackluster except for the rare moments that Harij turned into a beast intent on stealing kisses. Regardless, I am happy for how the story progressed between Rose and Harij.

While I wish that there were more volumes in the series, I am content with the ending!

I would say a 3.5 tbh. It’s a cute follow up from the first volume and despite the fact that they were to be married, they somehow felt more distant than they were when they were pursuing love in the first volume.

I had wish that she had gotten used to him and being in love but I suppose having lived as a witch with no human customs borne on her, her actions are understandable.

Nonetheless, it was nice to read about their journey after the initial danger is over.

This was such a cute, sweet book. Really hoping we get a volume 3 for this, seeing that "The End" really got me. If you're into sweet romantic coms with a hint of drama, I would definitely recommend you check this (for me, atleast) masterpiece out. 10/10.

This was such a fun read and an interesting concept. I kind of wish there was more to this story, but this is a pretty good short series to let any newbie to light novels get a feel for their length and an example of the kinds of stories you can find when you pick up one.

this book it pretty cute, it is a very cozy and chill read with slice of life elements to it. the drama in it isn’t overly complicated and the characters are very lovable. overall a very pleasant read, however due to the nature of the story, it doesn’t have a super complex plot (so if you’re not into simple reads, then this isn’t for you). the romance aspect of the book is very cute and organic, but also very slow as the main character is very shy.
the story is really good but nothing super special, i’d say it is good for a lighthearted read when you just want a feel-good and pick-me-up book.
(fyi: same review as first volume since i read them one after the other so my review applies to the whole of the story and not the volumes separately)

*4.5

so much worse than the first book. it was annoying and frustrating, and everyone was stupid and acting like a caricature, especially the main character rose - its like she turned into a stupid 6 year old. the plot was rushed and had no semblance of logic. such a drag. Just stick to the forest book of you plan to read this.

it's cute! as was the first volume. it felt a little drawn out at times, and maybe like some of the story wasn't necessary? but I still enjoyed it. thankful I found the light novel since I haven't been able to find more of the manga.

That’s it. That’s my review. I’m a huge sucker for this kind of fluffy nonsense. It wrapped up all the loose ends of the first book.
