The unique feature of this book is its down-to-earth practicality Here you are presented with simple, usable techniques and formulas, which you can easily apply in your workaday world. I have taught these simple processes to men and women all over the world, and recently over a thousand men and women of all religious affiliations attended a special class in Los Angeles where I presented the highlights of what is offered in the pages of this book. Many came from distances of two hundred miles for each class lesson. The special features of this book will appeal to you because they show you why oftentimes you get the opposite of what you prayed for and reveal to you the reasons why. People have asked me in all parts of the world and thousands of times, ?Why is it I have prayed and prayed and got no answer?? In this book you will find the reasons for this common complaint. The many ways of impressing the subconscious mind and getting the right answers make this an extraordinarily valuable book and an ever present help in time of trouble.
(Arabic: جوزيف ميرفي) Joseph Murphy was a Divine Science minister and author.
Murphy was born in Ireland, the son of a private boy's school headmaster and raised a Roman Catholic. He studied for the priesthood and joined the Jesuits. In his twenties, an experience with healing prayer led him to leave the Jesuits and move to the United States, where he became a pharmacist in New York (having a degree in chemistry by that time). Here he attended the Church of the Healing Christ (part of the Church of Divine Science), where Emmet Fox had become minister in 1931.
In the mid 1940s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes, and was ordained into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, thereafter teaching at the Institute of Religious Science. A meeting with Divine Science Association president Erwin Gregg led to him being reordained into Divine Science, and he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he built into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the country. In the next decade, Murphy married, earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California and started writing. After his first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who was his longstanding secretary. He died in 1981.
This information is very straightforward and helps to detail the way the conscious mind is connected to the subconscious.
It does read like a textbook, so be prepared for that.
I found the info about the subconscious to be interesting and it helped me to think about things in a different way. I also appreciated the breakdown and instructions on how to tap into it.
Best book for someone wanted to learn and grow with different life view.
This book is really opening insight of our life and give us new fresh idea about life. I really like how this book have explained lots of different views of life and that will help to grow personal and professionally.
Short, interesting, potentially worth a reread to embed the principle.
Key quotes: “
The three steps to success Let us discuss three steps to success: The first step to success is to find out the thing you love to do, then do it. Success is in loving your work. The second step to success is to specialize in some particular branch of work and know more about it than anyone else. For example, if a young man chooses chemistry as his profession, he should concentrate on one of the many branches in this field. The third step is the most important one. You must be sure that the thing you want to do does not redound to your success only. Your desire must not be selfish; it must benefit humanity.
You were born with only two fears, the fear of falling and the fear of noise. All your other fears were acquired. Get rid of them.
Specialize in your particular field and try to know more about it than anyone else.
There is no virtue in poverty; it is a disease like any other mental disease.
You will get a reaction or response from your subconscious mind according to the nature of the thought or idea you hold in your conscious mind.
The author gives some practical advice on basically how to relax your way to success. He explains the difference between the conscious and subconscious, and how you can use that other, untapped level to your benefit. I like reminders like this that are optimistic when you need them, even if they are a bit generalized and over-positive that circumstances don’t play a big role too.
I like the fact that it is simple and straight to the point. There is not a lot of useless filler. I have read and watched the Secret and many other books about positive thinking. There were never any simple answers and directions to make life better. The directions here are simple, easy to follow, and actually explain that it is your subconscious that controls everything. Not some magic in the air.
Very enlightening read! I have a better understanding how my thoughts work.
This was a very down to earth explanation of how the conscious and subconscious mind operates. I appreciate the practical examples of affirmations to try. I wrote a couple of them down to practice believing that I too can achieve positive results especially as it pertains to my relationship with money and how I perceive myself. A good source for me to refer back to for guidance and reminders.
It says it’s a 15 minute read, but don’t do that to yourself. Take some time and savor the words and concepts of this book. How to Win, a how to Think, How to Stay Young, How to be Wealthy, How to feel good about life every single day. All based on understanding the role and function of your subconscious mind. Plain English, no scientific jargon. Just good wisdom. Excellent read.
Tiny book with great insights and powerful advice. I enjoyed that the author cut through long talks and gave clear steps for success. I also appreciate that he dealt with not just financial success, but also physical health and spiritual health. Now to just go back and make a list of areas to deal with and write out my positive statements not only to myself but to those around me. Thank you for this helpful booklet!
Short sweet and to the point. All I have to do is apply what I learned. Make use on a daily basis.Making a conscious decision to make use in a positive way as instructed that could work for me. A new awakening of what was known but ignore for the most part.
I love it!!! This a great to the point book. My mind received it like a meditation. Mr. Murphy, thank you so much sharing your beautiful gift. To you and your loved ones, I am sending well-wishes of perfect health, perfect peace, and prosperity in every area and level of life.
Very enlightening as to what we know not of our own body chemistry and what we must learn and understand and utilise for a life to be lived in all its entirety, wonders of subconscious mind just perfectly resonated with my existing beliefs and it was a joyful re-enforcement that I felt by reading this read.
I learned quite a few principles about the mind which I never thought existed. I'm putting them into practice, and I already see the changes especially in my attitude towards things I was negative about. I definitely recommend this lecture to anyone who wants to succeed in every aspect of life.
I appreciated how Joseph Murphy thoroughly explained the subconscious mind, its influence on our daily actions, and how we can exercise control over it. However, knowing that Murphy was a man of faith, I feel the discussion lacked depth on how faith integrates into these concepts. That’s my only critique.
Refreshing read. full of positive thoughts and encouragement for living life better by trusting oneself more (subconscious). Think worth reading and considering some of the suggestions in book.
This book is short and straightforward. It’s honest and raw and if you use the principles as described, I don’t see how you could fail. My biggest problem is being consistent and impatience. But after this book, I’m going to try something different and new
I have read and studied this subject matter for years and never tire of of a refreshing read from a master on the subject like Joseph Murphy. A quick read and reminder of the awesome power we all posses.
This book was a easy good read. It has great insight on how to change the way you think just by pivoting your thoughts. I'm looking forward to the manifestation of changes in my life. I pray this review helps you. Kingdom Blessings
I love Joseph Murphy. His way of expressing truth is powerful and easy to understand and apply. I've enjoyed this book and apply the principles daily in my life. You can too! "See you at the top."
Wonderful! It showed me the power of words and how to keep my mind focused on the positive so my mind runs on optimum mode towards my dreams and goals.
I enjoy reading books by Mr. Murphy. I once owned the full book and found it to be a good source of changing my perspective on how to accomplish my goals. This quick read was a reminder of those points.
I'm 31 years old and I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this. Its important read it because its extremely important to help live the life you want that is without lack and full of success in every faucet. Loved it
There are so many mantras and affirmations in this little gem of a book. To recite all of them would keep you busy for a lifetime - in all the adventures of life! I can only imagine the power of mind you would have!
Given the title I was expecting the book to be lots of conjecture and "woo" - however, I was unprepared for just how much there is in these slim pages.
Short read, but nothing stops from rereading and expanding on the ideas and principles in this book. Deep thought and practices, one can only reap or truly see the benefits if action accompanies the mental intake.
I learned a lot reading this book. I am not as young as l once was but what I read will really help. Mr. Murphy gave mo some excellent ideas to make life better. Thank you so much.
It's very much enjoyable to read which has given great boost for both mindsets. Excellent presentation. Great 👍. It is a sequence of process to be stimulated subconsciously.
