The Clever Connector: The Easiest Way to Become Powerful, Regardless of Your Situation. The Underdog's Guide to Networking with Billionaires, Celebrities, and Executives
Smart, actionable advice on Networking like a Pro!
Explore the art of networking with Ali Scarlett's new book by answering questions such
How can I build relationships with the powerful decision-makers I need to advance my career?
How can I achieve all of my goals without having to spend a single dollar?
How can I attract billionaires, executives, and celebrities into my social circle when I'm broke?
Explained in a way we can all understand, The Clever Connector encourages the idea that there is no telling what we could achieve with billionaires for parents.
With that concept in mind, this book teaches us how to build a robust network of powerful relationships and connections that can change our lives and transform our careers (without needing a high net worth, status, or billionaire parents to do so).
In the networking world—where the possibilities are wondrous and the opportunities are boundless—Ali Scarlett uses exciting wisdom and profound stories to bring us to the ultimate secrets of powerful networking.
Money and power, by themselves, do not necessarily bring happiness or peace.
Over the years, I (James) have had the privilege and honor of dealing with persons from all sectors of society, from the very poor to the very rich, from the homeless to those who own mansions, from novices in professions to worldwide experts, from those who abstain from politics to those who are at the top of politics, and from unknowns to celebrities - just to name some.
Some key (relevant) lessons in life we (James and Deovina) have learned are” (1) Treat everyone as a fellow human being (even the very rich and famous); (2) Never try to impress anyone (they will want to impress you if you are willing to have an interest in them as another human being); (3) Never be intimidated by anyone (leave your awe to serving God); (4) Always be the good that others want to be (e.g., if you seek honesty in others, first be honest yourself); (5) Do not let your passions overrule your wisdom; (6) Sincerely value those who value you; (7) Be willing to think differently than other people (true leaders always do); (8) Deal in hope (as indicated by Napoleon Bonaparte); (9) Try to consider the world as others see it; and (10) Neither see yourself as superior or inferior to others, but as their equal. There are more lessons in life besides those, but we will reserve them for our own books (another thing that self-confident people do - they are not afraid to stand on their own when communicating). After all, if you don’t believe you’re right, don’t try to convince other people you’re right. But, when doing that, remember to be humble. As Golda Meir said, “Be humble. You’re not that important.”
This book touches on money and power. But, money and power, by themselves, do not necessarily bring happiness or peace. Just look at the rich and famous who died from suicide. As Jesus Christ said in Luke 12:15, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” And, as Solomon warned in Ecclesiastes 5:10, “Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness.” How true are these statements!

This was more geared for guys to understand the power dynamics of networking. It was enlightening to read about networking from a guy's perspective.
The author has overcome a lot of bad stuff. I respect and appreciate him sharing his story. Life handed him lemons and he rose above it. I really resonated with him on having a growth and learning mindset.
My life is challenging in less bad but in a different way than his. His story gives me hope that success might be in my future too.
For guys that need help understanding the nuance of the power dynamics of business networking, this is a good book.
Women tend to focus on the relationship dynamics and can miss that there's power stuff going on. It's not wrong, the author is very much against just taking without giving back. So for women like me, it might be helpful to read that networking is more than making a lot of friends.
“success isn’t a million dollars, and it’s not even ten million. It’s the achievement of “the good life”—health, wealth, love, and happiness. I invested much time, energy, and money into learning the art of networking because having resources—having connections—is a form of power.”
This book is a true resource and I’d like to thank Scarlett for taking the time to share his insights. I can see many of the points in this book reflected in the success stories of others around me and look forward to implementing many of the strategies laid out here. I am on the verge of a career shift and know every one of Scarlett’s tips will come in handy to make that change successful and highly meaningful.
WOW! This message is so raw and vulnerable- a true connection with the author. Diving into the 'action steps' presented by the author has already helped me connect with my own thoughts on a deeper level. This book will help anyone who is looking to be real with themselves and answer the hard questions; to face the truth about themselves and the people that they associate with. I am excited for to apply these tips in more areas of my life ...
