Two down and three to go! If Dan was keeping score, and he is, that's about where his life sits right now. Of course there's still a nasty curse that's taking every opportunity to mess with his life causing him problems, but Wrath, one of the sexier aspects of his curse seems to know how to keep all of that under control.

Unfortunately, or maybe it really is fortunately, Dan's curse can't be removed until they free the rest of her friends. Otherwise they'd be forced to kill him, and both Wrath and Aella, his now current full-time companions really aren't very fond of doing away with him just yet. All Dan knows is that he's really enjoying the oath-swearing part of the deal that they each have to take after he frees them.

But there are bigger problems on the horizon for Dan. First and foremost is the wizard who cursed him as well as the five demon-girls. Apparently he's not very pleased with the idea that Dan just might escape his fate, or that the girls apparently already have. Then there's some other more deadly fallout from all of this that Wrath and Aella have been rather hesitant to inform him of.

WARNING: “BeDeviled” contains explicit sexuality, nudity, violence, bad language, attempted murder, shootings, robbery, breaking and entering, axe wielding demons, attempted raps, murder, lost innocence, destruction of private property, theft, still no arson, demonic sex, gratuitous sex, mayhem, more violence, car bombs, liars and other cheats, and yes there really is a hidden stage and bar in the Lion's Building in downtown Sacramento.

I'm new to the Harem / LitRPG thing (If I'd known more about LitRPG when I wrote Shadow, I might have incorporated more elements of that into it).
I have a FT job, so I work on this when I can. Hopefully the next one will be even better.

Fast-paced Action

The author excels at fast-paced action series- practically pulp-action at times - where you have a somewhat OP MC surrounded by loving intelligent bad-ass women with personalities and qualities of their own. The main difference between them is how deep the plot gets, adding various POVs, etc. His “Portals of Infinity” series is a fantastic example of the detailed end of that range, while this series is nearer to the other end. The action here stays fluid, there’s almost no introspection, but there is dialogue that provides that needed exposition. There’s a lot of sex, and while he details some, he also nicely glosses over a lot of it so that it doesn’t bog down (or bring down) the plot. If you grew up with series like “Mack Bolan” or “Doc Savage”, then you’re going to enjoy series like this one - and probably all of the author’s work, really (no matter which name he uses). Bottom line, it’s just a fun, enjoyable, easy read with a lot of action, that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Recommended (17+).

A GOOD STORY WELL TOLD

The story held me enthralled. I needed to continue reading despite all the other things in my life that were clamoring for my attention. Now, in the interim before book III arrives, I can visit my dentist, have my cars repaired, and make another attempt to complete some items on my wife's ever-growing list of "honey do's",

Of much pleasure to me was the astounding number of well constructed sentences, the use of punctuation to increase the clarity of the author's story, and the inclusion of words, unfamiliar to me, to give me cause to expand my vocabulary. Plus the proof readings that manuscript had the obviously undergone made unnecessary for me to reread sentences and paragraphs in an attempt to puzzle out the writer's intent.

Also I enjoyed the cover art.

I enjoyed the sequel

Much like the first one, this was a fun read. The characters were always a trip. Particularly Wrath. Fawn, Olivia, and Lofn are nice additions to the team. It’s still weird that Dan’s banging these animal like demons (save for the latter as she’s a Succubus) but I don’t know, Stryvant made it work.

The action scenes are short, but they still grab your attention. Wesen’s anger at his plans unraveling is hilarious. Especially when Dan taunts him over the phone about the ring he has. Of course, the sex scenes are always enjoyable. Aella makes her tentacles work whenever it’s time to be intimate. With Lofn being a Succubus, that’ll make things more interesting. Hopefully, Aureate and the Harpy will join in on the fun later on. Weird as their relationship is (and creepy in some cases), there’s genuine love. Nice how much they stick their necks out for each other.

Goes without saying, but I’m definitely reading the last two. If you like it this far, I suggest you do the same.

Awesome read

Jan stryvant has done it again. Another compelling story with an interesting take on fantasy in a modern setting. I'm holding judgement on the magic aspect being on the light side, since this is only the second book. Even the story is unique and therefore, unpredictable on how it will play out (even those who've read jan stryvant's valens legacy and see similarities between them.) Sure you have the clear objective and cliche defeat the bad guy, but the journey to get there can go anywhere.
Now that dan has freed the 5 demons, will he stop there or increase his harem? Also, now that he found out another aspect of his curse and history, what will he do to break it?
Can't wait for the next book, when will be released?

An exciting end to the first cycle!

This is a great storyline! And bringing the first test to a pleasing conclusion only makes it better. there are still.plenty to go on, the arch mage Weson is still.alive and spitting mad at being tricked or of his favorite experimental subject and Dan still holds the magic ring that would join Weson to the curse that is slowly killing Dan, one that he hinself cast in the first place! Then there is the battle between the other mages over who owns Sacramento, and Dan's thinking it might be a good thing to take the city for himself! Eagerly awaiting Boo#3! Jump onboard now!

Excellent continuation of the series

Another really good book from one of my favourite authors. The story has a lot of fun with such a dark premise, but the girls and a changing Dan seem to be having a great time while working towards their goal. This book goes a long way towards the goal set in book one, and I could see a conclusion in the next book if the author wants it to end as a trilogy. As I am enjoying the characters so much I can hope for continuing adventures of Dan in more books.

A good second book. It is also following this author's trend of putting books out very quickly. I think I read the first book only a month or 2 ago and the second book is already out. This give me hope that the next book is right around the corner. The mission is the same. Continue to release the demons and try to break the curse. We find out more about why the curse is working the way it is with Dan. We learn more about his history and background. I am looking forward to the next book.

Just as Good as the First One

Fantasy harem adult situations
Book 2 continues the fun and action as Dan and his demon women... well, that would result in spoilers. It's fast-paced and they each have their unique characteristics. Still miss the Valens Legacy series, but I'm really enjoying this new series as well. Not sure how far Stryvant will take the series, but I'm in. Recommended. And waiting for book 3.

Good , Very Good !!!!!

I love fantasy - fiction !!!!! The first book I read was sci-fi ! Day break 2250 A.D.by Andre Norton and I was hooked at 12 !!!!! That was 68 years ago ,and I am still going strong . I read all of the Valens books when I was in the Hospital for a hip replacement and recovery . Sorry that they are over !!!!! I hope Dan gets as much press !!!!! Looking forward to the next one !!!!! Keep up the good work !!!!!
Sincerely ,

This is getting better
I'm not sure if this book was actually one whole star better, but I enjoyed it more so... ya know plus one star.
Maybe I was just used to the narrative style, or maybe I had lower expectations going in, but I did enjoy it more.
This book was more focused. The MC has more of a personality, the girls decide they like him and he is worth a damn. Oh yeah, and the sex was better. A big plus for me.

Two thumbs up

The sequel to another great series by one of the best and underrated authors in American fiction. This is a quick fast paced story that builds upon the first book but is a clear goal with a satisfying resolution but doesn’t leave the reader hanging at a critical moment as so many tend to do far too often.

Great Book!

The two books have been well written with excellent characters that have grown together, becoming a powerful force. Dan is still cursed but his demon lovers are working hard with him to break Wesson' s curse. The sex is within the natural flow of the book not forced into The story. I strongly recommend that you read these books!

Trilogy but not really

Good story, lots of good character interaction but I think there are perhaps too many characters to flesh out and that much detail is disrupting the story flow. Still, all the characters are great, just wrapping up the character arcs will appear to be very abrupt unless the series goes beyond 3 books

Filling up the demon harem

So Collecting more demons in his harem while trying to break his curse. More players have entered the game and more details about his ancestors emerge. Our well loved MC is in deep and specialized in bad choices that work out. Still lots of work to be done to take down Weson and that means more books.. Yay

Few interesting jokes, but mostly cringy, feels like written by horny 15 year old for horny 15 year olds. At the same time there is no "challenge" in it, yeah they say he is human and he can't get shot, but like you don't really believe anything would happen, like a video game where you get so powerful it's not interesting even anymore.

Another wonderful addition to this new story

This is a very fun and enjoyable ride. This is light hearted with a good story, very reminiscent of the early Valens books and as such highly entertaining.

On the level of the first book, and the plot, such as it is, moves along. I'm hoping that this will be more compact than the Valens Legacy series, as that went on too long, imo. So far, good enough, and I'll read the next one.

Better than the first

I think there was a stride hit here, it ain't Valens saga for sure, but i could see this building as much, maybe more, just wish there was a bit more substance. Its juicy, but not filling.
Maybe book three will have the taters...

Every bit as enjoyable as the first in the series. Dan and his group are growing in strength and numbers as they try to solve the riddle that is his curse. Can’t wait for the next book.

Pretty happy that book to came out so fast. Fast paced, got things done and plenty of plot advancement. I'm looking forward to More character development on the part of the MC and what skills he might come up with.

Good read

He did it again. Just like the valens legacy he started in an interesting place and went from there. I enjoyed everything he's got going on and hope he continues this series for just as long as valens legacy.

Getting into a groove but the next one will tell.

There is a pattern to the story that is predictable but still fun to read. The next in the series will definitely set the tone for the series.
