Brink Mage #1

Brink Mage

Rate this book
Wyatt has kept his identity as a mage a secret. Until now.

The kingdom Urgan is on the brink of chaos. Goblins are being attacked, dark entities abound, and the king can’t be trusted.

Beautiful women are coming to Wyatt for help. And Wyatt has never been one to turn down a gorgeous woman in need.

Brink Mage is a sword-swinging high fantasy adventure across a world in chaos. This is the first book of a harem series that has magic, violence, and sex with elves, dwarves, goblins, and princesses.

Definitely a lesson in read the blurb before you read/listen.

Was a very sudden shock as an audio book that I had just selected it based on title alone 😆

Sadly 6 hours of audio book later and I found the characters unrelatable, the fantasy not particularly imaginative and the *cough cough* romance *cough cough* a tad on the cringey side rather than alluring.

I continued the listen as part of my aim to be more adventurous this year, but I don't feel the need to attempt book 2 .

It was really more of a 3.5, but I did like it.

I liked the premise of the story and the world the author created, but there were dozens of errors that broke the flow of the story for me. It was difficult because some of the errors were the wrong word or the right word missing a letter or two. This type of stuff would be caught by a decent editor. Please edit the next book! I like Wyatt and the ancillary characters and want to see more, but there needs to be less errors and less missed details. Details like Octavia’s hair being purple, but when Wyatt wakes up from mana deprivation it says her hair is green. Looking forward to a sequel though and I recommend the book.

A interesting book.

The story was decent with some interesting characters that I am looking forward to seeing how they develop. The world is interesting as the first book set up some interesting characters that are not your normal take on most fantasy world's so I look forward to seeing how they are developed.

The Reluctant Mage

Wyatt is puzzled. As a PI he has handled many cases. But the mysterious beauty brought a difficult case that becomes more and more involved. Fortunately he attracts 3 more beauties that form his team to get the job done. Elves, goblins, and dwarves are being discriminated against via magical treachery. Wyatt doesn't want this and reluctantly stands in the way. I like the action, humor, and romance. I look forward to another book.

Amazing world you’ve let us glimpse

I really enjoyed the intricacies of the race dynamic in the city and how the characters interacted even with races they were hostile towards only wish we got a back story on who Wyatt is like his family and how the next location the sequel possibly takes place to affect Wyatt and the group.

Great first book in a new series

This is very enjoyable 18+ adult fantasy story. No super super powered characters and a smooth refreshing use of magic!! Editing could use some work but doesn't retract from the quality of the story

Where is a good PI when you need them..

Well if you're in Imlay, then Wyatt Ryder is your man. Finder of things, retriever of things, and all around lover of women. Watch as this PI works his magic in finding objects, solving mysteries, loving women, oh did I mention magic.

This was a pretty good story. Started out a bit slow but picked up nicely. Likable characters and a mystery enemy. I will read book 2 if he writes it

Not a bad start to a series but seriously needs a proof reader to correct the spelling/grammar. I'm available if you need someone!

A very interesting world plagued by spelling errors and grammatical errors. The love interests are all strangely immediately and powerfully into the protagonist. With some editing this would be quite a good book, as it is now it is just good. I'll definitely give the sequel a shot.
