*To say *I enjoy reading Louis *Macneice would be an understatement. *Every time I reread his
*Work, especially his poetry, I *Am not only rewarded by the rich & insightful mastery of his verse, I once again relate personally to his deracinated experience (he was neither fully Irish, nor fully Anglo). He's without a doubt my favourite among the Mac- *SpAunDay Group.
*After reading this I *Was left with *A better knowledge of, & a greater admiration for, this many-faceted poet. If *You're a reader/lover of MacNeice's poetry & curious about his other writing, translations, plays & radio work, I recommend this revealing 1974 anthology of tributes, essays, memoirs, studies & checklists. As a bonus, the book opens with a long poem by MacNeice meant for a book on Ireland he was collaborating on, before his untimely death at the age of 55.
