From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Aleron Kong comes, Awakening, Book One of God's Eye, the long awaited second series of the Labyrinth Universe!
Telos is a world at the center of the Universe. A bright jewel wrapped in a Lattice of realities. It is a world that gods and demons call home at the beginning of a new age. Remy is a newly risen deity, struggling to survive in a Battle Royale where the consequences are worse than death and last longer than damnation.
He will find that he cannot live without his tribe of worshipers. Their strength is his, and his is theirs. Other tribes want nothing more than to feast upon their flesh and consume their power. It is a deadly race of technology and power, faith and corruption, of commoners and legends.
Gods of ancient pantheons and demons of forbidden nightmares compete in a timeless game where the stakes are the souls of every living being. These old forces will come to fear a newly risen god.
His name will become a curse on their lips. His name will be a chant in the mouths of the faithful. His name will be carved in time.
Zero Fell, Zero Fell, ZERO FELL!

So ill say I'm a big fan of the chaos seed books except for the last one which was horrible.
This new book isn't any better i skipped through about half of it due to redundant writing in main character's inner monologuing and constant repeating of the characters cold handedness of being a soldier and then a doctor which we are constantly reminded of this. Not to mention the first 1/4 of the book main character is in a single tree. Then again with prompt after prompt after prompt. Plus we get to see the main characters level up too and their prompts. Sad to say that the quality of writing is so far going way down hill.
Pretty sad because take out all the useless filler crop author puts in on main character talking to himself and redundant crap about the main character and all damn useless prompts to give main character ability level up fast. There is a pretty good book.
As a Patreon of this author I have had the privilege of reading a few of the chapters of this book ahead of release. I could say that this book is shaping up to be a darker, grittier version of The Land. I would venture to say The Land is more young adult and God’s Eye is more Adult oriented. I’m assuming the negative reviews are upset that this author has branched out to write more books instead of focusing on just one series but the truth of the matter is this. The author has stated that he would like to write 50+ books for The Land. As a Patreon I support all of his works not just one series. I’m looking forward to seeing where this series goes and all future works he puts out. Grab your copy today!
The first 3 chapters provided by Dr. Kong have thoroughly and completely drawn me into this new world of Telos. I’m certainly not surprised by this, as I have greedily consumed the ongoing “The Land” saga by him as well. It’s not a slow start, but there is some information obviously held back to fill in the gaps later. Very intriguing read so far!
1st - Luke Daniels is great. Really really great. And that's the best thing I have to say about this book.
As I write this, I don't know what to rate it. I'm soooooooooo mad and frustrated and just about to be over AK.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE books 1-7 of the Land. 5 stars each, everyone of them. The interplay between Richter, Sion, and Alma is sooooo sooooo good. I loved those books.
Then came Book 8 and I thought it was a fluke. Then came this train wreck.
Fame has gone to his head, which as a Dr, it's always been at his head, but now... I dunno. Something has changed and it's NOT good.
There's too much focus on the stats now and not enough action. In this one, the MC was in a TREE for 16% of the book. Nearly a full quarter of the book in a tree. And that's not as bad as Book 8 when Richter was in a Cave. For the ENTIRE book. The book didn't move things forward at ALL. He moved through a cave and it sucked.
Now this. I think he forgot how to write. In addition to all the stuff about the stats - it's WAY more repetitive than I remember him doing.
Just not good, but I kept with it, trying. So I'm not going to rate a 1, though I want to. I'm giving 9 a try - I think. But if it's not back to what it was, I'm done, done, done.
I was a huge fan, now I'm not. I hope that someone sets him straight again, and I'd like to know what the fans saw in this book that did like it because I don't get it.
Aleron Kong's newest book "God's Eye" just released today, and as someone who utterly loathes the man (how could anyone call themselves the Father of American LitRPG and not feel like a clown?!) but understands that an author and his work must be seperated when reviewing such things, I'm going to share my early thoughts on it so far, for any who are interested in the book and are on the fence about getting it! To avoid spoilers, I won't go into too much detail about the story, and will try to critique the book as a whole.
Here we go ...
This book is extremely amateurish, edgy, convoluted, and confusing. It is packed with so many ideas and concepts that you get whiplash as you go from page to page. It's like Kong set out to make the biggest, most epic story he could think of, but didn't take the time to actually make a compelling *plot* or *characters* to go with it.
Prose-wise, the book is sloppy. It tries too hard to sound complex and sophisticated. One thing Kong does that I *hate* is spoil his own story. He loves to blatantly foreshadow his own plot *in the prose.* For example, the Prologue starr with a countdown of the amount of breaths the main character has remaining until he dies. What?! And whenever someone is about to die, Kong will write, "little did Susie know, this would be her last chance!" Before she gets offed. I absolutely cannot stand when writers do this, stop doing this! It is so pretentious!
As for the characters, there's not much to say. Remy is your typical two-dimensional cardboard cutout protagonist. Not as bad as Richter, but still not very interesting. The plot isn't anything you haven't seen before, also. And lastly, the LitRPG elements are just thrown in halfway through the Prologue, and it was almost as if Kong completely forgot he *had* to make this a LitRPG book and just threw it in at the last second. Also, the setting was very confusing, I couldn't tell what time period the story took place in until Remy mentioned a "rifle." I guess it starts in a post-apocalyptic wasteland on Earth? I don't know.
But anyways, that's all I got so far. Take it as you will, I guess. Just wanted to share my experience with you all. Kong seems bent on destroying any negative reviews on this "masterpiece" so I wanted to put mine out there so people don't look at all the shallow 5-star reviews and get deceived.
Truly a good read I’ve been reading some of the pre release chapters and I’m loving it. I would definitely recommend pre ordering this book!!
I am updating this review, the previous comments where based on the prereleases chapters. Now that I’ve read the whole book I can say, it was awesome!!! Hahaha it’s worth reading, it brings up so many questions about the land and the labyrinth, and is just an awesome adventure!! A great addition to DR. Aleron Kong’s work!
As usual, amazing book from an amazing author! Aleron’s literary genius is evident in this, much like all of his other books. If you enjoyed The Land but found the themes a bit too lighthearted then this book (and series) will be perfect for you. God’s Eye takes the awe-striking themes of fantasy and magic from The Land and refines them into a darker, more powerful version. Disclaimers: probably not recommended for *most* children under 13. I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC)
I've only read and listened to the Prologue as the book is not currently out yet, and I have high expectations. The author creater The Land Series and is absolutely fantastic this is supposed to be apart of the same universe but a in a different place and perspective.
I got to hear the author read the prologue to this book in person, and just that little bit was amazing can't wait to get the whole thing in December. Edited:.. Hi everyone, I'm fortunate enough to be a advance reader and just finished God's Eye Awakening today. Let me be the first to say that this is NOT your ordinary mist village type Of adventure. That being said, you absolutely HAVE to read this book. Its been soo worth the wait and a awesome change of direction from the type of story Aleron usually writes. Without sharing any spoilers, if I had to use one word to describe God's Eye Awakening, I would choose "Brutal". That being said, there is still that element of humor that Aleron is well known for, only with a different flavor to it. Ive THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book, can't wait for the next in the series, and am eager to hear how Luke Daniels narrates the audiobook.
Speaking as someone with a -lot- of experience reading Dr. Kong’s work, I can’t express this enough: Read this book! Read all of the books written by DK.
So far it is great! Interesting tie ins that make me want to reread the land, and I am only a few chapters in. Only thing that is frustrating is chapters ending on obvious cliffhangers. I am going to read the next chapter, don't need to make it a mystery!
Ok, now that I finished the book...
This is why I don't like chapter Cliffhangers! Was up to something like 3am reading, because I couldn't put it down. Made me perform sub par at work the next day, and read it during all of my breaks rather than eating or stuff like that. Need to make some chapter breaks be less intense so I can put a bookmark in and function properly as a human being!
As for the content...definitely darker than 'The Land' but that was advertised. I really liked the book, but not sure if the MC gets too lucky. He still has challenges, but...yeah, not sure where things go from here with rewards. Will still read it again and follow on books.
My first DNF (did not finish) in a while. Having recently read books 1-8 of the Land, I was excited to start a new saga from the same author.
I began reading God’s Eye and quickly made it through the prologue and introduction. The premise of the story sounds fun, and I imagine it could be. What I found as the story progressed was a repetitive, uninspired, slog of introspection and prompts. I spent over 200 pages in a tree with the main character fighting an eagle bear. I was glad to finally be out of the tree and meeting some new characters, but as other reviewers mentioned, they don’t do anything! Actions and dialogue are written as thoughts of the main character, like “He spoke to them about the food supply,” instead of having real dialogue. 50% through the book and most of the cast are nameless faces.
Additionally, I found the main character very dull, static, and juvenile. Eg., pissing in the mouth of an eagle bear when he is level 0. Really?
All of these issues could be forgiven in some contexts. If the story itself was engaging enough, I could overlook the lack of interesting characters or the amateurish writing. However, the story is simply boring. I made it 50% though and realized I did not care about any of it. Not the main character, not his tribe, not the new world, not his godhood. None of it captured my attention enough to even start the next chapter.
Overall, this novel represents a tangible downgrade in writing and story quality compared to recent works by the author. And this is coming from someone that enjoyed book 8 of the Land, if that says anything.
I do not know how or why this book has so many 5 star ratings, other than that it seems many of these reviewers didn’t actually read the entire book, just the first 3 chapters (which are decent).
Aleron improved his writing but there is still room for further improvement. 3.5 stars
Ok so not a shill I have the top review currently for monster so I am definitely honest about my opinions. That said God's Eye is an improvement over The Land: Monsters.
Aleron tightened up his prose quite a bit and he only had only a few sections that could have had the fat trimmed and only one of those was truly annoying.
The prologue was way too long. Like insane lying long, especially since he still had couple of chapters until he entered the new world. I hope Aldrin trims that in future books and perhaps keeps the future prolonged he writes more to the point, as this prologue seemed to have a lot of filler.
Aleron also wrote a travel arc in the book that dragged for too long, but other than a few times where he had a decision cycle it book had a good pace. The book. Had good progress though there were times I just wanted the MC to catch a break.
The series looks like it will be a 4x type little which is nice and I hope Aldrin continues to improve his writing. I would be happy to start giving better reviews
Recommend the book and am hopeful that Aleron continues to improve as a writer.
Those who know, know. Those who don't, might need to pick up a game and crank out those possible levels 1-100, start grinding, come back to this novel, and freak out at the utter awesomeness of everything that is baby-godhood, RPG, and a vast fantasy world that compasses it.
For those of us who've already enjoyed the Land, this is a crossover of sorts but it has a much bigger, Tier 0 godlike feel. The worldbuilding is delicious.
I'm afraid that I'm a total fanboy. If you're a certain type of someone, LitRPGs are pretty much all good, tickling all those funny bones. Some are decent, others are pure cotton candy, and still others you will just want to pick up and keep reading and reading and reading and pray that it's actually 120 hours long, audiobook, and not anything like a normal length book.
In my case, I couldn't stop. I wouldn't stop. I just wanted it to keep on going and going and going and we barely even got to level 2 and I'm crying because it's not fair and I wanted to at least get to level ten and WHY is the universe treating me so horribly!
Yeah. I'm one of those.
Zero Fell may be a kind of prick, but I just don't care. It's all about the long-haul and the level 12-15 redemption arc.
The author is horribly inconsistent throughout the book. Like he just can’t count it seems. For example at one point the mc is fighting 6 enemies author describes how he kills one and then quickly another and the other three run away... 1+1+3=5... where did the other one go? If it wasn’t for the inconsistency it still wouldn’t add up to much apparently the mc is a bad ass who knows all kinds of acronyms for things but doesn’t bother to explain them to the audience even if they are used constantly. He’s supposed to be this bad ass ex military killer turned super doctor and yet the best way he has to keep his people safe in an unknown world is to camp out in the open field? Don’t worry the author must have read half a chapter on Roman history once and had them dig a trench around their base camp. Book is full of shit piss and vomit, like it was written by a 14 year old who’s biggest dream is to one day piss in someone’s mouth or puke into their entrails, actual scenes from the book. Bottom line it’s a sub par entry and is only getting voted up by fans not by actual readers.
The land series was much better. That one had it all, the powers, the characters, the world building. I understood more about why things were happening. This one, not so much. This story does have a tie-in to the land series. The MC is Richter's uncle. Remy is a god and placed on a new world where there is a competition. A bunch of different species are brought to the world and a bunch of gods are brought to the world as well. We find out that there is a relationship between a a god and his followers. A god will need to pick a people and grow both their strength and their peoples strength. I didn't see that much difference between a leader and a god in this world early on. Remy picks a group of pantherkin and becomes their god. The first thing he needs to do is save them from dying. Overall it was interesting but I am looking forward to the next land book.
This book is unique. Do not read the land and assume you know what will be happening in this book. It is its own legacy by all rights.
The book starts at a fast pace and keeps it almost the entire time. The book allows the main character endless possibilities, and offers explination as to why the things can be done. I was on my seat waiting to see the choices and improbable actions that would occur. I fell in love with several of the characters.
The only negative I seen were too many systems in place. However the masterful Aleron saved it however by giving good reasoning for each of them.
God’s Eye have already become one of my new favorite series. There is an honest realism in the brutality of a world filled with gods. Do not read this book if you are squeamish or have an aversion to violence. If you have a secret bloodlust that you need to feed then this is definitely a book for you. The intensity starts from the very beginning and rarely gives you a breather. God’s Eye isn’t just filled with violence and gore though. I found myself constantly laughing at humor very much like my own. Aleron has expanded on an already amazing universe with this new series. I didn’t think it was possible but he has created something that is as good as, if not better than, The Land. I am eagerly waiting for more. I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy
I've already read several of the first chapters and I'm so excited. It definitely seems darker than the Land but with a similar loveable asshole main character but has a darker back story. I'm excited for a new magic system and interested to see how it will tie into the Land. He's such an amazing writer and puts so much thought and insight and challenges societal norms.
To start I did enjoy the book the ideas and concept is interesting as well as the set up but I couldn’t give it 5 stars because in all it felt a little short especially with all the fluff filler if the filler was condensed it would barely be considered a book I mean if the character levels 3 times just say so then give the description instead of breaking it apart and describing it 3 times also what is the point in breaking down travel by the day when nothing happens it just felt like a little bit of story and a lot of fluff Don’t get me wrong I did enjoy the book but these was the things that was issues that brought it down in my eyes I do look forward to seeing the next book as well as the next land book
I gave this 4stars because I want you to continue, but where has your editor been for this book and the last one. I can appreciate anybody who can write a novel, but it seems convoluted in some sections, and , I may not say this correctly, but you spend a little to much time telling us in the mc's inner monologue how much of a badass he is. I like the storyline, the world building, etc... But please either get an editor or fire the old one. Thank you for your Art
I came to the end wanting more. As usual Aleron delivers. I read some negative reviews about this book before I started and didn't agree as I finished.
I will say with just like the land, for me personally I get bogged down with technical aspects of the magic and all of that jazz. Im in no way saying its bad or I dont like it, its just me personally. Its key to understanding, so I would never want it taken out. There are some things that a bit redundant, but no big deal. My biggest complaint to telegraphing a change in the battle or as someone nears death is announcing it before it happens. Other than that, I really enjoyed it and waiting for the next.
