Emma Grace was let go, in her eyes (fired) from her teaching position due to the fact the town wanted a male in her position. They had advertised but she was the only one that applied. She was a wonderful teacher loved by all her students. Now what was she to do? Where would she go and how would she survive? Can a matchmaker offer her the security she needs quickly?
Gavin Sallee lost both parents to a fever, leaving behind his two much younger siblings and himself. Gavin was just 17 at the time of their deaths. His promise to his Mother on her deathbed: Take care of the babies. He would no matter what. After trying for help from the townsfolk, and getting no one to take care of the children while he worked the farm, he decides to apply for a Proxy Bride. They sign the contract and now the fun begins! This is a wonderfully written story about two desperate people that come together, but realize they have some challenges to overcome! You are going to love this book!

The author has penned a story that is full of action and emotion. Gavin, due to the death of his parents, is attempting to raise his two younger siblings. He decides he needs a wife and sends for a mail order bride. Emma Grace, after being replaced at her job by a man, decides to respond to his request and travels to meet him. Imagine her surprise when she finds he is several years younger than he had written he was. The couple marry and then fireworks start all around. The character development is outstanding and the story will draw you in as the couple experience jealousy, family greed, dishonesty, attempted murder, faith, kindness, and romance. Will Gavin and Emma Grace's relationship develop into a HEA. Be sure to read this story to find out. It is a real page turner, and I know you will enjoy it.

I enjoy the proxy bride stories and when you add in one of my favorite authors, Lynn Donovan, you have a winning combination for me. The story contains heartbreak, romance, humor, villainy and a happy ever after. I think two of the hardest things for me in reading historical fiction is how fast the children grow up and have adult responsibilities and how young a young lady is considered on the shelf or a spinster. This book includes both.

A good read
I have read some of proxy Brides books, so this one caught my attention. I enjoyed reading this book it's quite different, I have never read a book where the women is older. This is very well written how the two ended up together is amazing the two needed each other the women needed a family and the family desperately needed a strong women or a mother hen and Emma truly the best choice form them. They all needed each other. I love the book so five star

An unusual proxy bride book. Jealousy in family relationships, discrimination against women, older/younger married couple, and of course greed. There is also charity, friendship and love. Worth five stars +.

Incredibly well written!
This is one of the best proxy bride stories in this series. The storyline and characters are so richly portrayed that I can help but admire this author's creativity.

Feel good reading!
This is an unusual story with a groom several years younger than the bride. Nevertheless, the wonderfully sweet love story. Well-written plot and characters. Very enjoyable!

Wonderful Story.
Emma Grace and Gavin got married by Proxy to help each other, he had a brother and sister to raise and She had no place to call home, it worked out great. Such a good story, Thank you Lynn Donovan.

I love this series! Lynn Donovan is a fantastic author that brings to life emotions you can relate with and characters that are well developed. Her writing makes you feel as if you are right there, living the story. Great book

A very interesting story about surviving.
This was a entertaining book. I enjoyed how strong both the main characters were when things got tough. Luckily they were able to find their happy ending. They also helped a lot of people find work.

Disappointing
This book was such a struggle to finish. It could have had such potential, but it ultimately fell flat. The scene in the cave was just ridiculous, and the entire plot was simplistic. In short, this book was disappointing.

It was an interesting and clean read. The fact of her husband being so young felt a bit weird to me, but he was super nice and the story was still good.

Loved this story
Gavin- after death of parents he kept his promise to take care of younger siblings and married though he was only 17
Emma- lost her teaching job had no family to go to.
I enjoyed reading this intriguing story that is well written with charismatic characters. Their story has a wonderful HEA!
