A dying wish brought her home. Can the promise of happily ever after keep her there?
Andi is tired of merely existing. She’s ready to live. So she jumps at the chance to honor her mother’s dying wish and finally pursue her dream of becoming a published author. And what better place to do that than Bayshore Beach? Discovering that literary legend Ford Delaney is in town and in need of an assistant feels like proof she’s doing the right thing.
But achieving her dreams might not be as easy as she’d hoped.
Because it’s not long before Andi’s unsupportive boyfriend arrives to stir up trouble (along with her emotions), she realizes her best friends are in crisis, and her attraction to her new boss starts feeling anything but professional.
Can Andi get everything she wants out of her new life without making painful sacrifices along the way? Or will she learn that some relationships—and some dreams—were never meant to be?
Calloway Cove, book one in the Bayshore Beach series, is a clean, lightly angsty, romantic women’s fiction read featuring a heroine running towards a new future, a hero running from a troubled past, and all the friends who help them along the way.

I really don't like when an author tries to get me to ship two characters when one of them is already in a relationship. And I really don't like when a MC is clearly unhappy in a committed relationship and knows they want to break up, but continues to be in the relationship and not communicate properly and blames the significant other for all the problems - and then cheats on them instead of breaking up with them.
The cheating trope (emotionally or physically) needs to die.
I am always drawn to books that have an author as the main character as I have been a freelance editor for decades. First, I didn't like what felt like an information dump—though it was more artfully done than most—at the beginning of the first chapter from the heroine’s perspective. But I was utterly and completely turned off by the book with the job interview the heroine had with the would-be hero and her future boss. He was just awful and treated her terribly. He seemed mentally unhinged. Why would the heroine want to subject herself to the man he showed himself as during that interview? Authors really need to take care when they create such a terrible character, even if s/he is only like that for a brief time. I just could not get beyond his insufferable character and true awfulness to read more of the story to see if he ever became less of a jerk. I didn't get farther than partway through the interview.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Totally unhappy with how you portrayed Peter. He was good enough for her when she desperately needed someone. Then later one?! Well, Andi was a disappointment as well. Always late for appointments that are important for someone else? Story ended with some much needed drama, but too late. Disappointed
Absolutely beautiful story of one person’s second chance to have a different life. Going away and starting over hopefully will be the answer. Don’t miss out.
Ford and Andi’s chemistry was evident from the start. Just wished that she had better control of what she wanted, though she had been through a lot with her parents deaths.
Calloway Cove by Tia Souders is the first book in the Bayshore Beach series. Andi Calloway is tired. As she lays her mother to rest, she is at a crossroad. Her mother’s dying wish was that Andi return home to Calloway Cove and pursue her dream of becoming a published author. Does she head back to her tiny apartment in New York or does she honor her mother’s dying wish? When she learns that literary legend Ford Delaney is staying in town and needs an assistant, she believes this is the sign she needed. She can work for him and spend her free time writing her own book. However, it doesn’t work out as easily as she hoped. Andi’s boyfriend, Peter, doesn’t support her decision and pressures her to return to New York. Her childhood friends are battling private situations and she develops an attraction to her new boss which adds to an already difficult situation. Calloway Cove is described as a “clean, lightly angsty, romance” with “a heroine running towards a new future, a hero running from a troubled past, and all the friends who help them along the way.” The story started off strong and interesting, unfortunately, it fell quickly. While I enjoyed the small town feel and Andi’s family history to the area, I found myself not caring about Andi, Ford, and the other characters. I’ve read books where the main character is an aspiring author and it was believable and enjoyable. I enjoy seeing the behind the scenes of writing. However, I just didn’t see Andi as an author. I was annoyed at her behavior and excuses. I enjoyed Ford a bit more. I understand the secrecy Ford is desiring and wants to make sure Andi keeps his presence secrets, but does she? Overall, I did not enjoy Calloway Cove and will not continue the series.
“Sometimes we lie to ourselves because we’re afraid. A lie is often easier than the truth because the truth is often frightening.”
Sometimes you find love when you are not looking. Sometimes when that person who loves you does thing that they think is best for the situation at the time, but in the end love wins.
Calloway Cove: Bayshore Beach Book 1 is written by Tia Souder. This begins the series about three young girls who grew up together at Calloway Cove and are now back together once more but so much has changed. Andi has come back to Calloway Cove to be with her Mother through the last stages of cancer. Upon her death, she gave Andi a letter asking her to stay here a while and continue with her writing which she has neglected over the years. Her Mother knew about having regrets and didn’t want Andi to have any. Ironically, Andi was shown an ad about a writer wanting to hire an intern for the summer to help him research while he writes. She sees this as an unexpected gift. She could work for an established author and get some pointers on how to go about getting her book published when she finished as well as some hints to help her improve her writing. When she appears for her interview, she finds one of her best friends, Rachel, here as well. Rachel isn’t here for the job or the money, she is here to impress the man and win him for herself. Andi just wants the job for the help she could get. Would the internship work out as Andi forsees or would Rachel get the job as well as the man? Will this bring a breakup between the girls who have been friends forever?
First time reading a Tia Souders book and I’m not disappointed!! This book was awesome. I loved the characters, the setting, and the ending! I may read the rest of the books in this series!!! 🌊
⚠️⚠️ Spoilers ahead⚠️⚠️
I liked how Andi was an aspiring author and how the loss of her parents was written into the story. It wasn’t too sad, but it also wasn’t just mentioned once and then forgotten. This book was a teeeeeny bit annoying with how many times Ford and Andi weren’t able to just get together. Each time they were finally confessing that they’d fallen for each other, a phone call or a visit from Peter interrupted them.
Why’d Peter LAST so long? He should’ve been out of the story sooner 😂 Andi took too long to figure out what she wanted IMO.
Ford was a great guy. There were a couple things he did (like keep Andi’s friend Rachel around in a suspicious way and confront Peter in front of Andi in a weird way), but overall, he was amazing.
Souders could’ve done a little more with the Andi-almost-drowning-because-she-fell-off-her-kayak scene, but whatever. 🤷🏻♂️
This story was really good. I read 71% of this book in one day!!
Tia writes a great story that pulls you in. I didn't want to put it down. I think I felt closer to the character Andi as she had just lost her mom. I lost mine in June, so this resonated with me. Andi loses her mom, starts working on a dream she has set aside years ago. Andi decides to write a book. However her boyfriend is not really supportive especially when he learns she gets to work with a famous writer. A writer who is especially handsome. Andi has to decide where her loyalties lie- is it wit the boyfriend, Ford, the writer or herself. Read it t see where she ends up and if there is a compromise. You won't regret it.
Author, Tia Souder’s poetic descriptions are so vivid that you find yourself in the scene with the characters. Great character building with the central characters and supporting characters all having a story to share. A believable story of a lifelong dream come to fruition after many bumps in the road, proving it is never too late to fulfill your dreams. This clean romance will keep you guessing until the end! I look forward to reading more adventures in Bayshore.
This is the first book I’ve read by Tia Sauders and I loved it! I truly enjoyed Andi’s journey of finally fulfilling her dreams and finding love in the process. I can’t wait for the rest of the series. The characters were developed well and I was drawn in immediately. The friends were present enough to really get me invested in their potential stories and I’m anxious to know what will happen to them throughout the series. I definitely recommend this book
The question one might ask while reading Callaway Cove, is who rescues who? At the beginning one thing stood out. Sorrow! Sorrow so deep one might feel they we're drowning. Instead, inspite of outside pressures, good things were beginning to happen. Will this turn of events continue or fizzle away like the fog on the coast. Read this Bay shore beach Book 1 to see for yourself how the wind blows.
I really enjoyed reading Calloway Cove. It was well written, although a few typos; great characters you can invest in whose experiences lead to both personal growth and expanded horizons. The various relationships gradually change as life happens in believable ways revealing deeper character strengths, or flaws, depending on their responses to it. Looking forward to the next story in the series.
A love triangle told in realistic, emotional and endearing manner
Andi finds herself the love interest of two men. This romance deals with the very real feelings one has in making peace with one’s heart’s desires and figuring out what is the path ahead. Well paced, this story focuses on one woman’s pursuit of her dreams and discovering who she wants to take with her on her life journey. Well worth the read and great introduction to the series and setting Bayshore Beach as milieu.
This book is about a young man who had had a bad life as a young boy and in his earlier life growing up. He met a man who helped him to get better and become a well known writer and how he came to a small town and fell 8n love with another new writer. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Struggling author who is also dealing with the recent deaths of both of her parents suddenly finds herself the apprentice of her favorite author. Will her long distance relationship be able to weather the storm? Will her best friend seduce her mentor and steal her place?
A lovely book to read which is well written and a good, enjoyable storyline. There were plenty of ups and downs to add ‘colour’ to the story with interesting characters to enhance reading and interest. It showed that you should follow your dreams and sometimes put yourself first, a lesson to may of us I am sure! It was just something pleasant and enjoyable to read, which I enjoyed.
A book written by a novelist about novelists. I couldn't put it down! All the ups and downs, the things that make us human, are brought out in such a real, believable way that you never lose interest in the written words!
This book about two writers was surprisingly fresh. The main characters were dealing with their own issues when they find each other. I don’t think the secondary characters added much to the story but they set the table for follow-up books.
An endearing story about following your dreams and finding happiness. Very well written and interesting characters. Looking forward to reading more in this series and from this author.
