MAKING A SWITCH He was left alone, unsure of his future...She always thought she knew her path in life until someone got in the way. CAUTION: Alpha hero, bad-boy romance that’s utterly addictive and outrageously satisfying. r Kristin Meadows loves her nights at KinkLink. The club is her outlet to release her desires and as a domme she anticipates the play — controlling her sub, gaining their trust, their loyalty. She loves it all. So why in the heck is she panting after her best friend’s husband’s brother? Yeah, the guy equaled sex on a stick but he was no more a sub than she was, and two doms don’t play. And to top it all off, the father she never knew she had, turns out to be a thug and suddenly wants to spend quality time with his daughter? Who needs a father figure now? All she’s trying to figure out is why she can’t get Ryan Boynton out of her head! Ryan Boynton is struggling with his role. Having been a sub the last years and being pushed to his limits he realized the lie he’d been living all this time. He was happy for his brother, he got the girl — and he wasn’t even missing the sharing they used to play, but he did miss his brother’s wife’s friend, the hot babe he fell for at their wedding. But there’s one problem. Neither of them were subs. Neither of them were true doms. So what the hell were they? All Ryan knew, is that it’s time to find out — and that there will be a lot more switching going on. Sometimes finding the love of your life is all about making a switch.
The steamy standalone novels in Tara Eldana’s Kinklink series are best read in order: TAKING THE LEAD | MAKING A SWITCH | OFF THE BOOKS
Tara Eldana is a recently retired, multi-award-winning staff writer for a weekly community newspaper chain in metro Detroit. She became hooked on romance fiction when her eleventh grade English teacher rejected the book report she wrote, saying the book was too easy for her, and insisting she read and report on Daphne du Maurier's "Rebecca."
After complications after surgery 10 years ago, and covering numerous murder trials and other crime stories on her beat, she decided to write what she loves to read - stories with happy endings.
Good read , keeps your attention mostly , and in parts quite enjoyable.
The characters were good , especially the two lead characters. Bits of it left me uncomfortable, others a little bored. The majority was good but I’m not a big fan , sorry
I downloaded the book on a whim from Netgally , Thankyou to them . I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
I need to start off with saying that my review would probably be better if I had read the first book in this series. I’m not sure if it’s meant to be read as a series or if the author was trying to create standalone novels that could be connected. If she was going for the latter, it didn’t work for me because I ended up feeling lost and confused, as if i was missing out on some important details. The dynamic between characters was stilted and awkward, there seemed to be a lot of repetition in talking about the past storyline, and I just didn’t connect with the plot or characters. The idea behind this is incredibly unique with both the characters wanting to switch up being sub or dom but I think the execution was lacking a little bit. I would’ve wanted more details about their boundaries and guidelines in regards to switching. While the sex scenes are explicit and often, I found them to be very subpar. Out of nowhere, both characters would switch from talking normally, to talking as sub/dom and a few sentences later were coming together. I just would’ve enjoyed more details in between how they went from point A to point B lol.
Reading the book, I was excited to see that the hot interactions between the two characters was at the beginning of the book. This brought me interest to the story. The beginning also had a slow drag in certain parts. The writer drew out the introductions of the characters in the beginning. These were very descriptive. Perhaps the introductions of the characters should be spread out in the book with brief descriptions. Don’t bunch all the characters in the same scene. I was lost in who where the main characters. Also, BDSM is a good thing for erotic books, but I think the line should be drawn with siblings sharing moments together. It’s alright that these particular enjoyments are discussed, but maybe not shared together with a woman that they both and she’s married to one of the other brother. This made me lose interest in the book. I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
Sparks fly between Ryan and Kristen but neither is a true sub or Dom, can they find a way to make it work? Her father has also come back in her life and she isn’t to happy about it, could she be in danger because of it? Fast-paced read with loads of steam with a large group of characters. I liked it.
Disclosure – An Advanced Review Copy was provided for review. I read 50% of this book before deciding not to continue. Written by Cariad.
Making the Switch is told from two points of view, Kristin and Ryan. Both characters are dominant, yet their chemistry is so intense, they’re willing to switch between dominant and submissive for each other. Having met in a previous book, Taking the Lead which focuses on Ryan’s twin brother Reese and his wife Jessa, they already have chemistry and a complicated relationship when the book starts. Through a series of interactions at a club called Kinklink, Kristin and Ryan must learn to switch and see if they can make a relationship work.
In the background there’s a lot of extra stuff going on. Kristin has a complex relationship with her mother and finds out through a DNA test her father is a thug and mobster which adds complications. Ryan meanwhile is a private investigator and is dealing with being stalked/harassed by a previous employee stroke ex girlfriend. There’s the potential for lots of intrigue and a thriller brewing in the background, but by 50% of the book, the vast majority of the book was sex scenes or sexual encounters.
So why didn’t I finish it?
To be honest, the book simply wasn’t good enough to continue, but it wasn’t bad enough to read for the train wreck, like I sometimes do with binnable books like The Pink Villa. It wasn’t the worst thing I’d ever read, but with only so much time in a day for reading, I don’t think it’s worth forcing yourself to finish something you’re not getting anything from.
I liked both the characters of Ryan and Kristin, and I really liked the complex dynamic between Jessa, Reece, Kristin and Ryan. There’s a lot to unpack there, between the twins and the two best friends. Kinklink itself sounds wonderful and it’s a shame we’re not really given much in the way of juicy details. There was so much potential for depth in character and plot; but it just isn’t there. The character interactions end up being fairly flimsy, the plot is just feather light, surrounded by sex scenes, and the sex scenes weren’t particularly titillating.
I really am not a huge fan of feedback that says show, not tell, but generally it is good advice. In Making the Switch, I feel like the author attempted to show us things rather than tell us, but it ends up being a bit over the top descriptively. Instead of people just being angry, jaws are always clenched, nerves are always pulsing, fists are always balls. Eyes constantly flash and tell entire stories, changing colour multiple times in one scene. Ryan has blue eyes, then hazel eyes, then green eyes. His eyes of steel tell Kristin so many things. Every show just seems a little bit over the top and it gets tiresome to read.
The sex scenes had so much potential as the double dom storyline is a really creative and unique idea for conflict; but ultimately Kristin just ends up having orgasms all over the place instantly and there wasn’t enough tension or build to keep me interested.
I did find the interactions between the twin brothers, Ryan and Reese, and Reese’s wife Jessa quite titillating, so might consider reading the first book, that covers their threesome story. Tara Eldana certainly has some unique ideas for sexual tension. It’s a shame the execution just isn’t there yet.
There were a few other things that annoyed me, a few tense mistakes, a few typos or incorrect words used, a chunk of scene switches that left me wondering where/when we’d shifted to, and a lot of “She” and “He” in scenes of the same-sex character that sometimes left me uncertain who was doing what without re-reading it.
I DNF’ed this at 50%, so this is just my impression from the first half of the book. It’s entirely possible that the second half gets considerably better, but I think I gave it a fair chance to capture my interest and it failed.
I’ve given Making the Switch a two, whilst I didn’t finish it myself, I’d donate it to a thrift shop and let someone else try their hand at it. It has potential, but enough annoyances that I personally didn’t want to continue reading. I did enjoy the ideas behind their relationship and would try another book from the author in the future and see if the writing improves.

Check out the new cover. I love it. I'm working on a sequel, book 5 in the KinkLink series, Doris' story. She's Kristin's mother. They have a complicated relationship. It's been fun to revisit these characters! Here is one of my favorite scenes in Making the Switch, toward the end and the start of their HEA.
Ryan grit his teeth so hard his jaw ached. He could hear his damn jaw twitching. Glancing from him to McNulty, Kristin smiled. McNulty grinned, and made no move to leave. “You gotta start your big, romantic move, man. I gotta give my wife something for being this late. She loves her a good love story with a happy ending.” Well, shit. Kristin’s grin matched McNulty’s. She crossed her arms over her luscious breasts, not acceptable once McNulty got his ass out of there. They were from Detroit. He couldn’t go wrong with Motown, right? He considered “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” but decided to use that as Plan B. How to tell her he was hers? He could sing most of the words to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” and fake the rest, right? Ryan wailed out, “Like a fool…” while McNulty, the jerk, clapped in time and a dog yowled in the distance. When Ryan started his version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” McNulty mercifully beat it out of there. When his voice faltered – she shook her head. “Sing the rest, sugar.” Since she “sugared” him, he sang the words he knew, his voice cracking in the cold. She uncrossed her arms and wet her lips, making no move to open her door. Time to lay it out there. “You have to know it was bullshit, babe,” he said. “Every word I said to you in front of Hack and Manning in your hallway was bullshit. I needed you safe. And. You. Wouldn’t. Go.” He couldn’t read her eyes, which usually showed him what she was feeling. “Kristin, we’re not over, we’ll never be over.” He dropped his hands to his sides and opened his palms. “Signed, sealed, delivered. I love you, babe. I’m yours as long as you draw breath, and ever after.” She pulled on her braid and worried the bottom of her lower lip. He wanted to crush it with his lips and taste what he was starved for.
Kristin normally considers herself a domme. However, the man she has the hots for—her best friend’s brother-in-law is also a dom. She wants him to switch for her, but he also wants her to do the same for him.
This book had potential, but there were so many things wrong with it that I am only giving this a half star. First, the plot is all over the place. At one point, Kristin’s birth father enters the picture adding some type of danger to her life, though it is never fully explained and concluded a bit too cleanly (i.e., the “oh it’s no longer there any more so don’t worry”). Then, the sex is so poorly written that it was painful to read. A lot of it had to do with the next issue…
Namely, the person who edited it should be fired. There were quite a few continuity issues (e.g., does she live on the 7th or 10th floor?) that were annoying, but the biggest issue was there were so many basic grammatical errors it is not even funny. For example, you just do not put the dialogue of two people in the same paragraph. I could not tell who was speaking half of the time! I’m not an English teacher but the errors I came across had me cringing, “how the hell did this get through proofreading?”
There are much better BDSM romances out there. Avoid this one.
Thank you to NetGalley for the free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
They both think they're dominant. They want to see each other. They have to figure out how to make this work. Ryan was left out when Jessa chose to be with his twin brother, Reece. Kristin never knew her father. When she finds out who he is, she's no longer safe. This is an interesting and enjoyable book. We have Kristin and Ryan trying to navigate a complicated relationship, with the ghosts of his past in their way. But there's suspense and mystery when her father enters her life, issues that coincidentally overlap into Ryan and Reece's security business.

Making the Switch by Tara Eldana was a quick read but an interesting one. It gives you a glimpse into the world of BDSM. Kristen and Ryan are attracted to each other but don’t really know what to do about it as her best friend is now married to his twin brother. Hmm, could get interesting and that’s exactly what happens. To find out, and if you like this type of book, I would recommend you check this book out. It was interesting enough to me that I went and got the first book in the series to get a little more background on what was between all the main characters. It was worth it. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book for an honest opinion.
Being a switch is sometimes hard. You have relinquish control to a Dom/Domme and then pick it right back up and be in confident control of a sub. Kristin and Ryan are both switches. They just have to figure out a way to weave back and forth without stepping on each other's toes. They both have issues right now, maybe they're connected, but who knows? Ryan and his twin will have to figure it out before someone gets hurt. A good sexy read.

I believe this is the second book in the Kinklink series. This is Ryan and Kristin's story. A complicated attraction between these two characters which makes for a great story. The suspense builds when Kristin's father is revealed and she is used as a pawn to get to her father. Her Mom worked hard to cut ties with him so long ago. I enjoyed this book I intend on going back to book one for Reece and Jessa's story and also continuing with book three with Mandy and Hack. Enjoy!

Full disclosure: I haven’t read Taking the Lead, which precedes Making the Switch. That said, I feel like the first couple of chapters could have eased the reader in better. The timeline is discombobulating - Ryan and Kirsten’s first interaction occurs, but then what actually happens is told in flashbacks. I found that this took me out of the story, and I failed to make a connection to the main characters. I liked the premise of this book - switching out who’s the Top - but I just couldn’t get into it.
This review is not going to be long. I am not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.
This is the first book of Tara Eldana that I have read. It is an amazing read. This book has it all, intrigue, humor, action, and of course steamy romance. I am going to read more of her books.
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Ryan has fell out of sorts ever since Reece and Jessa got together. Once he realized the attraction to Jesse's best friend, Kristin, could they switch and still be happy?
Meanwhile the story heats up at R&R leaving everyone to wonder about the attacks against the company. The twist is apparent upon meeting Kristin as family.
The story is great. It flows and keeps one in suspense wondering what will happen next. Unfortunately, the multitude of errors not only made it difficult to stay in the moment, the plot unravels. Will book three have the same issues?
Very good story!!! It kept me reading most of the night. I couldn't put it down. It's hard to discover just what you need and to find someone who can give that is even harder. Interesting concept with the father and thinking that the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. A must read!! I highly recommend this book!!

Unfortunately this book just didn't do it for me. I liked Kristin and Ryan and the concept of both of them being a switch was intriguing. There were a lot of steamy scenes and the chemistry between Ryan and Kristin was hot, but sometimes their jealousy was a little over the top. The action in the story fell kind of flat for me. Overall it was an okay read.

My first novel about switching... This was seriously sizzling but at times, apart from typos/wrong words which are not uncommon in some arcs, it didn't read well, a bit stilted. I can't quite express properly why it irritated me at times. The main characters were interesting & I was fascinated that they really could switch from dom/domme to sub so easily, dependent on their moods & adaptability, certainly worked for them. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley
DNF @24% i was very excited about this book about a couple switching but unfortunately the writing was really not forme. It felt mor like a book report than an actual book everything was told in a very succint manner i didn't connect with the characters the dynamci between all of them felt very awkward
I enjoyed reading this book. The first book Taking the Lead introduced what being a switch was. This book goes more into being a switch and explores this with Kristin and Ryan. They both are unsure of their in the dom/sun setting. As they battle themselves for what they want they also have drama come up. I liked reading how they navigated through their hardships.
This is was a new author for me and I have to say I enjoyed the book. I will be adding this author to my list to follow and will be reading more from her. It was well written, the scenes flowed smoothly, and it was a very entertaining book. I loved all the characters and with the author’s style of writing you could feel their emotions and it was so easy to connect with them.
Making the switch romance story was an awesome entertaining romance story with interesting characters Lots of steamy scenes and action keeping you entertained

The premise was good although the delivery needs a bit of reworking. The characters definitely have chemistry and their interactions were interesting to read. The details are what caught me by surprise. I had a hard time keeping everything straight which took away from my enjoyment.
I enjoyed Ryan & Kristen's book. Good characters. It was a fun, entertaining read. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
If I'm being honest, I don't think I fully understood what was happening in this book. The side plot was not fully developed and was a source of confusion for me. I still don't know what happened, was it resolved or is it bleeding into the next book of the series? The main characters, Ryan and Kristin, seemed overly jealous and unlikable and at a certain point I quit caring about them being together. Overall I think it could use some stricter editing.

An interesting story that has Kirsten Meadows finding her lovers at the Kink Link sex club. She is also Dom. This one night while sitting at the bar and looking over her prospects she notices that a man who is normally wearing a Dom bracelet is wearing a sub bracelet this night. They go to a room and slowly begin. The man is also the brother of her best friends’ husband and at one time the three of them were all together. When he is asked to go to the stage to help his brother, she leaves not wanting to see the concentration that is using with her best friend. When he realizes what he has done he goes to find her and tries to explain what was going on. She accepts his answers and then the two of them come up with this idea of switch between Dom and Sub while they are together. This is good for them but within the story, Ryan still acts like the Dom all of the time, even out of the club. Giving her a collar, he also continues to say things that make her feel insecure even after they find out that her father is a well-known criminal and the person that works for his company was or is the one giving him information. Yet he still tells her I don’t love you this was all a game. Really? That is what you are going to tell the woman you love because you are wanting to protect her. Throughout the whole story, all he proved was he could not at least that is what I got yet he still wanted to tell her what to do. That is what confused me. Then he uses his hacker to find her. Ryan at times frustrated me as a character and I felt like he was trying to fix or save everyone but was not looking at himself. Maybe just me. The overall story was okay and the sex scenes were hot and the characters were good. For me just a good read. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 3 stars.
