Reunite with Simon and Caroline from the New York Times best-selling Wallbanger in this fun and flirty novella!

Simon and Caroline have it all. A gorgeous restored Victorian house in Sausalito, flourishing careers, an eternal spark for each other, and a cat with more attitude than is legal in the state of California.

So what’s plaguing the couple of the century? They’ve got everything anyone could wish for, except...a family.

After several close calls, Simon and Caroline are coming to terms with the idea that being parents might not be in the cards for them. They’ve been married several years, and they’re realizing it may just be the two of them, forever. Which is okay, right?

Caroline’s career has taken an intriguing turn, Simon is working more than ever, they’re fresh from a trip across the pond to see their besties Jillian and Benjamin - things are falling into place, without a baby rattle.

But just when you think your life is set, the universe gives you a...twist.

Come back in for one more round with Simon and Caroline.

Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved a boy, and this boy gave her the world.

What a great final book of 2020. One More Round is described as a fun and flirty novella, and while I would agree with that overall, it had some emotional parts. Simon and Caroline is a couple I’ve loved from the moment I met them over 8 years ago when I first read Wallbanger. I was so happy to get more of their story. I highly recommend this one for all fans of the series.

I’m shocked that it’s 8 years since I first read Wallbanger. And hundreds of books later, it’s still one of my faves. A novella-length epilogue that will leave any Simon and Caroline lover with heart-shaped eyes and a reminder of why we loved them in the first place.

*****FIVE +++++ STARS*****

Alice Clayton has been one of my all-time most favorite authors.
I have had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times at past signings and she is such a lovely person. I have been missing her words for what seemed like an eternity to me, but I knew that she would eventually write again.

"ONE MORE ROUND" was perfect! Alice Clayton is back!
6 years of waiting was a small price to pay. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next. 💕🌸💕🌸

5 ‘Wallbanger forever’ stars!

If, like me, you are a mad fan of all things Wallbanger, then this is an absolute must-read for you! A novella which gives us the opportunity to catch up with one of my all-time fave couples, Simon and Caroline, who are living out their happy ever after, but who have one more challenge to face… building their family.

Simon and Caroline are still deeply in love and though they may be living the dream, this is the one part of their life that isn’t going to plan. But you can’t exactly plan this kind of thing, and they have no idea what they’re in for.

This book is equal parts funny and heart-achingly emotional, making me laugh out loud and then hitting me right in the feels. I adored being back with Simon and Caroline, seeing them so happy and so very much in love. Their relationship is the kind that people dream about, solid and committed, full of teasing, banter and jokes, and they are still as hot for each other as they were when they met. Watching them enter this next stage in their relationship is just amazing and I adored every moment of it.

Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved a boy, and this boy gave her the world.

It’s the story I didn’t even know I wanted for Simon and Caroline, but let’s face it, I’ll read anything with these two in it. The rest of the Cocktail crew are all a part of the story, which was lots of fun, and we even get some Simon POV! And to top off it all off, there’s even an epilogue from Clive the cat. So. Much. Win!

The audiobook is fantastic, narrated by C.J. Bloom and Gregory Salinas. It's a really quick read, coming in at just under three hours, and I highly recommend listening to this one (ebook comes out in December 2020). I'm actually going to do another listen now, it's that good!

I loved everything about it – 5 stars!

One More Round is fun, heartfelt (& maybe a wee bit OTT on occasion, but let’s be real, I did I care? Um...NO) check-in with AC’s most popular duo, Caroline & Simon as they prepare & begin a new exciting - & maybe a little scary - phase of their life. OMR doesn’t take long to remind me exactly - 1. Why I’ve been wondering WTH happened to Alice Clayton. 2. Why I’ve missed her zany banter/sense of humor in contemporary rom-com world. As I said in my update when I first stumbled upon this little gem before it’s release, I’m 🤞🤞 this will only be the start of her comeback & here’s hoping AC won’t leave us so long again.

**heads up there is a possible trigger .**

I confess I wasn’t itching for more of this series particularly, but I have been wondering awhile now wth happened to AC though, so I’m totally game for this. I’ve missed her humor in the rom-com world. I’ll be keeping my 🤞 this is only the start of her comeback.

I just love Simon and Caroline and I was thrilled to get another story about them. Once I started reading and found out what it was about, I loved it even more! (And bonus points that it helped Alice Clayton to write it.)

Not everything has been roses for Simon and Caroline. One subject has been hard and it's huge. I was shocked how they decided to handle it but luckily, fate or whatever had other plans.

And I was shocked again! I loved that scene when they found out...it was great! I would've loved to have seen their faces especially Simon's.

And the third shock was that Simon left for his job at that particular time...what was he thinking? I was just happy that he made it back in time.

The ending was wonderful. However, the swift change of POV's would throw me at first but I was thrilled to get the very last one!

I have read the entire "Cocktail" series before and I have to say that the novella struggles with a really serious subject matter (infertility) but doesn't actually go into it and makes it seem like not a really hard thing for the main character, Caroline to be dealing with. We get a Point of View told via Simon and it was awful. There is a lot of descriptions of Caroline's [pejorative word for women's breasts] that went on forever that I needed to just stop. The book also does time jumps that doesn't help with a pretty lackluster ending I thought.

"One More Round" seems to be taking place at least 5 years or so (maybe?) from the last novella in the series, Last Call. Caroline and Simon are off to visit her friend and mentor overseas. We find out that Caroline and Simon have dealt with miscarriages throughout their marriage and have not had a child at this time. They both want a family, but realize that is unlikely to happen and Simon gets a vasectomy. Their professional lives are going great though and they have a gorgeous house to enjoy in California. Their lives change though due to a "twist" and the novella is just Caroline and Simon being themselves.

I have to say that this book seems weird to me. We don't get that many sex scenes between Caroline and Simon. We hear that they are still going strong in the bedroom department, and there are a lot of morning after discussions and I think one time where we read about her doing something to Simon in the woods (my brain is foggy). I have to say that was a disappointment. The one thing that this series had going for it was the hot sex scenes between Caroline and Simon.

Caroline's friendships seem odd in this one too. She's finally asking one of her friends why she and her husband don't have kids? Really? Also one of the girl's husbands (I can't recall) seems like a moron.

The writing just didn't grab me like it did in other books and the flow was weird. I think that Clayton should have just done a full blown novel so there would have been zero need to do the time jumps. I think doing that took away from a lot of the emotional heft long-time readers should have experienced while reading this one.

From the dedication...

"--to everyone who made it through 2020 with their laugh track intact,--"

YES! Absolutely. It's been a rough one, but what a surprise and delight to end it with a little Wallbanger lovin' from Simon and Caroline. I can't even attempt to remove the smile from my face. Thank you, Alice Clayton!

I laughed, cried, and hugged my kindle. I'm so happy you found your keyboard again, Alice.

Five phenomenal stars!

Why am I crying?!?
It was so wonderful to be back in the Cocktail world with Caroline and Simon! Until I started listening I didn't realize how much I missed these 2!
What a fun, sweet, heart-melting addition One More Round was to this series. It was so nice to see these 2 still so happy and in love, settled and working on building a family. It was heartbreaking listening to the trouble they had with the previous pregnancies, but I love how strong they are together.
This sweet novella made me laugh and cry, I loved it!

The narration by CJ Bloom and Gregory Salinas was terrific. CJ is a wonderful Caroline- she does a great job with the fun parts and the more serious moments ! And wow, even though we only got one chapter with Gregory, he brought out all the feels to Simon, loved it!

From the beautiful cover to the very last page to those very last words sweetly provided by Clive, this little charmer dazzles and sparkles. Santa’s bag is full of merriment packaged in feel-goods.

Caroline and Simon – now married and on the doorstep of their thirties -- still riotously funny, so much in love and sharing the bestest of the bestest happily-ever-afters! Alice Clayton once again brings this engaging couple to life with their priceless wit and humor and the joys of knowing she/he is “the one.” But every relationship hits bumps in the road. And Mr. and Mrs. Parker's does as well. But a silver lining might be found in the darkest clouds. Sheer pleasure with so many emotions wrapped up in an 89-page novella.

A jolly good time from cover to cover -- with cheers and hope for "one more round" on down the road for the "Cocktail" crew.

I just did a re-listen of Wallbanger last month I am so glad I did because wow did I ever love this novella!

I love how much these two love each other it is so clear to see. You can’t help but fall even more in love with these characters.

Caroline really got to my heart strings in this, you feel her pain, her panic and her joy.

Simon is so wonderful and again you feel all his emotion especially on that one chapter shudders it was intense.

Great narration 100% would recommend this series.

the only authors who deserve any rights are the ones who casually drop a novella out of nowhere for their couple even though that couple's story has been complete for yearS now like they haven't let go of their characters just like us: we can see that & we appreciate that.
be like alice clayton who despite publishing simon and caroline's story in 2012 and ending it in 2014, but then delivering a novella again in 2015 and that was that. UNTIL she decided to randomly drop this cute novella this year for no reason— this is the type of positivity we all need.

p.s. any authors who accidentally stumble upon this review, just remember to never completely let go of your OG characters who the readers love. (and keep delivering new content for them) okaythankyou. 🤧

”Don’t get mouthy, Parker, unless you’re putting it on me.”

What a great, feel-good story! I've missed Alice Clayton's writing so much. Her books make you laugh while cleverly pulling at your emotions.

Simon is back in all his swoon worthiness, and Caroline still keeps him in line with all of her sass, making their banter hilarious and heartwarming. They are the *perfect* couple. They share the type of relationship people dream about. But as with every couple, curveballs get thrown instead of perfect pitches, and it's the teamwork that makes or breaks them.

THAT EPILOGUE Y'ALL!

Fans of Wallbanger will love revisiting this couple and reveling in their happy ending.

I was provided a review copy by the author; this did not influence my opinion of the book.

120 pages packed full of perfection! One More Round is like one big nuanced and completely satisfying epilogue to Caroline and Simon’s love story. It’s been at least five years since I read the books that made me a fan so some of the details were fuzzy, but this novella does a superb job interweaving key highlights without it sounding like mundane exposition.

I’d forgotten just how funny these characters — and Alice Clayton’s writing — are. I laughed and smiled throughout, but I was pleasantly surprised by the number of tender moments. The story is told almost entirely from Caroline’s perspective. In fact, Simon only has one chapter but I suggest you break out the tissues because it wrecked me in the most heartwarming way. Alice Clayton really outdoes herself. Of course, Clive the cat gets the final say and it’s a fun and happy ending to a delightful love story.

I am a massive fan of the Alice Clayton, Cocktail series, which, if you haven’t read it, is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy series. This series brought me great reading joy several times, and I was happy to see this fun novella published, which is a revisit of Simon and Caroline’s life after the other books were finished. It was so wonderful to revisit them to see where they were in their lives. This time around, they are settled and trying to have a baby, and in typical Simon and Carolien fashion, they don’t do anything the normal way! As usual, I listened to this on audiobook with the wonderful CJ Bloom and Gregory Salinas. Thank you, Alice Clayton, for this update on one of my favorite romantic couples. I gave this five stars!

Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved a boy, and this boy gave her the world.
.
Note: the quote is a transcription from the audiobook made by me. Sorry if it's not accurate!
.
Me cuando descubrí que este libro EXISTÍA: ALGUIEN ME PUEDE EXPLICAR POR QUÉ ME ESTOY ENTERANDO DE ESTE LIBRO AHORA DIOS ESTOY GRITANDO SEE YOU IN A NEXT LIFE BECAUSE I JUST DIED.
.
I just fricking new it.
I F*CKING LOVE TO BE RIGHT.
But it was a bitter right. I'M DEPRESSED PEOPLE.
Nada, LEAN WALLBANGER CAMBIA VIDAS Y SJAFHAJAFG I'M STILL HAVING A MENTAL BREAKDOWN.
Clive I love you I want my cat to be like you someday.
.
Now I want to cry forever goodbye people.

5 Wallbanger and Nightie Girl forever stars
It was so nice to catch up with one of my favorite fictional couples.I fell hard for Simon and Caroline when I first read Wallbanger and I was so so sad when I finished their final book.I always thought there was more to their story and they deserved an epilogue novella and Alice Clayton finally granted me my wish!
I adore every word and scene in this book.I didn’t even realize how much I was craving more Simon and Caroline until I started it.Splendidly perfect for them.
And about the plot,This one picks up a while after the last scene in their last novel.Simon and Caroline have made peace with the fact that their family will probably stay a duo forever but when two pink lines appear on the pregnancy test, everything changes and they’re not sure how to adopt to this big life change based on their past history.
Recommend to everyone who loved Wallbanger.

I was SO excited to hear that Alice Clayton was releasing another story in the Cocktail series! Wallbanger was one the of the first books I read after FSOG and I have a special place in my heart for Alice Clayton. Simon and Caroline (and Clive the cat!) are back but you do not need to have read the previous books in this series to enjoy this novella.

This is a sexy, funny and surprisingly emotional story. Simon and Caroline have a perfect relationship yet are struggling with pregnancy issues. Even with the all witty banter and steamy times, their struggles make this more that just your usual romantic comedy, and add a layer of authenticity to their relationship.

I also listened to the audiobook and loved it. The fabulous CJ Bloom narrates and the story is an easy audiobook to finish in a just a few hours.

I enjoyed this lovely and smart romantic novella, and hope that Alice Clayton comes back for more soon! If you're a fan of the Cocktail series, then you will enjoy this trip back with some of your favorite characters.
