This is a re-print, part of the “True Believers” line, with the iconic first appearance of Wolverine that began his Marvel career fighting against The Hulk, originally published in “The Incredible Hulk” #181. The re-print issue included a excerpt of “The Incredible Hulk” #182 too.

LET THEM FIGHT
No, really! Let them fight! Please!
Since in the issue while it became historic due the fight between Wolverine and the Hulk, they were being interrupted by several other characters, like the Wendigo, Marie Cartier & Georges Baptiste and even the Canadian Government.
What’s needed for getting a nice, uninterrupted, brawling between two super-heroes?
The Hulk is lured into Canadian territory and he’s fighting the Wendigo, when the hell breaks loose with the surprising intervention of the Wolverine on the behalf of the Canadian Government, with clear orders of controlling both monsters!
WOLVIE IS BORN
Len Wein, you crafty devil!
Maybe you aren’ aware that this writer not only created your favorite Canadian mutant, but also he created for their Distinguished Competition, the Swamp Thing (who became a relevant character thank for Alan Moore’s take on the character), and even Wein was fundamental for reviving the then cancelled comic book title of X-Men re-introduce them to the public with the iconic Giant Size X-Men co-creating Nightcrawler, Storm and Colossus!
Wow! And you know what else? Wow!
Of course, it’s amusing how Wolverine looks in this very first appearance as a guest character in the comic book title of The Incredible Hulk, where if you read and look the issue carefully, you can notice how several signature features of Wolverine aren’t there yet…
…he does have Adamantium claws, but he kept them out all the time, so you have to wonder if they were retractable, for not saying that there isn’t any indication of having an Adamantium casing on his skeleton; it’s mentioned that he is indeed a mutant possessing great stamina, speed and strength, but nothing about a healing factor; and still none other name than Wolverine, so no Logan, but it’s indeed referred as Weapon X.
The first full appearance of Wolverine!! Hulk and Wolverine battle against the Wendigo in a weird turn of events. However when the white furred creature is defeated, the Hulk and Wolverine battle each other! I was a little disappointed with the ending, that there was no real ending for the fight except for a single line! But I suppose they were going for a more emotional ending, which there was. Overall, a nice show case of Wolverine's abilities that makes me excited to see more!
This is both bad and good. Maybe so bad it's good. It's just so over the top silly cartoon feel but seeing wolverine and hulk team up for few pages is fun.
Wolverine being my all time favorite Marvel character, I was happy the facsimile edition of his 1st appearance was coming out. Now I could finally read how he originally showed up. Obviously the writing is a little dated but it was cool to see Wolverine fight with one of my other all time favs, The Incredible Hulk. Also I never knew weapon X was in this. When Wolverine first started fighting Wendigo and Hulk thought he was his friend, I found myself thinking what if this went another way and a Wolverine and Hulk team up book followed. Lol! I guy can only dream right?
That was indeed a remarkable issue. Not only because of all those interesting details about Wolverine in his earliest appearance, but the story itself had a touching ending.
I'm not a comic reader and never was. But I do love the movies and it was cool to glance at their origins. The Kindle version of this is pretty cool. You can change your view so that each panel displays separately on your device. Each one was sharp, clear image of what the artists and story tellers probably hoped to express. Definitely cool to see what all the fuss has been about in such an affordable, well-done fashion.
Hulk like he always is and a cool and none-too revealing Wolverine origin story with a great little fight and tension on the side. Glad Wolverine lost the bottom of his mask and that this doesn't try to give it all away at once.
Wolvies first full appearance and a really good conclusion to the Wendigo storyline introduced in last ish. I will catch the start of the Wendigo story when I read Hulk more in depth later on. The first two pages of the next ish have the Canadian government telling Wolverine to stand down and then the Hulk story fully picks back up.
I obviously wish the Wolverine design was better, but not bad for a first rendition of the character! I love that Marvel took the ball and ran with it here. They saw the potential in this fool and added a lot of depth to him. This is especially evident after reading him as such a simple character here.

Again, I had to quickly read this because it's the first story that features Wolverine in a main role. A nice wrap-up to the previous story, and it actually gets quite emotional near the end, which I hadn't expected from a '70s comic!
I think Wolverine and the Hulks fight couldve been better as the whole book is advertised as a fight between them. However it is the first appearance of Wolverine which is really cool and makes up for it. Also the ending was so sad and i loved it.
Not very focused on Wolverine. It portrays a slightly different Wolverine than Claremont does later in "Wolverine #1-4" from 1982. It shows part of the history of Wendigo, & seeing Hulk vs Wolverine is an interesting concept.
Really great issue, with a very tragic and provoking outcome. I do kind of wish Wolverine had more time with Hulk, perhaps splitting the plots up into separate issues. But it was good, and I liked seeing gentle Hulk at the end.
The stories I could tell you about this book! But I will just say this: when this book came out it was met with universal derision; everyone thought that Wolverine (W) was a stupid character who should have been beaten to a pulp by the Hulk (H) on the first page! Not one of my friends ever thought we would see W again - and we did not care! This is a great example of how a character can evolve; how the right writer/artist can take a character from mediocrity to superstardom - "If you accept the pain, it cannot hurt you."
Outside of the fact that Wein uses an alliteration to introduce Wolverine as the “gaudily-garbed gentleman”, this book was solid. Two interesting storylines developing simultaneously, and although Wolverine was not considered the iconic character that he is today, you have a lot of good references in this book in which to begin Logan’s impressive legacy.
