Rate this book
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes the FINAL vampire-mystery-slash-romance-slash-adventure about a librarian and her trusty vampire assistant, The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant, Book 5. (Yes, yes. Still a standalone. Yippy! You don’t have to go back and read all four books. But don’t ya kinda wanna?)

NEVER HIRE A HANDSOME VAMPIRE!

MIRIAM MURPHY loves being a librarian. It’s all she’s ever wanted—to eat, breathe, and sleep books. But when she hired Michael, a handsome college student, she had no idea he was a four-hundred-year-old vampire and that inviting him into her life would result in her becoming one too. But not before he knocked her up and broke her heart.

Now Miriam is a single mother, all alone in a new world with a new vampire body. And someone’s trying to kill her. Who? Why? She has no real enemies.

If only Michael would help. After all, he’s the vampire king now. And this is one mystery she can’t solve on her own.

NEVER FALL FOR A LIBRARIAN!

MICHAEL VANDERHORST knows he’s changed. He can no longer love or laugh or enjoy hot peppers like he used to. But being an unfeeling, ruthless vampire is what it takes to rule the deadliest bloodsuckers on the planet. It’s the only way to keep humankind safe.

Problem is, his enemies know the librarian and his daughter are special to him. They are his to protect, even if he’s incapable of feeling love.

But when danger comes knocking at Miriam’s library door, he must choose between solving the biggest mystery of his existence and the woman he swore to protect.

What’s a vampire king to do?

I feel bittersweet whenever a series I love comes to a close and this is how I feel about The Librarian's Vampire Assistant series. Although with Mimi Jean you never know. She's the Queen of plot twist and knowing to to leave the door open for possible spinoffs and character returns, which is some I truly admire about her books.

So without giving too much away here are some of my thoughts when I put this book down:
I knew I would laugh, but my LOL and ROFL moments were expectedly unexpected.
Mr. Nice's plot twist was EPIC.
The ending was movie worthy.

My favorite quotes:
- "Damon from season one of 'The Vampire Diaries' was fairly on point with all his indiscriminate killing."
- "The culprit has no regard for literature. A millennial perhaps? We all know they only read emoji-speak. like some ridiculous throwback to the cavemen era with their cave symbols. But less understandable."

And of course....
"Just yesterday, a troublemaker named Dali the Damned, down in Tijuana, Mexico, took ownership of a taqueria."

If you've read a Mimi Jean Pamfiloff book you know you'll have twists and turns you never saw coming and will love Michael, Miriam and the rest of the vampires in this world she has created and we've grown to love.

If you haven't read any of her books before, what are you waiting for? The plots are always fresh and original, full of twists and turns that are almost impossible to foresee, and true to her motto, she'll undoubtedly bring a smile to your face.

The Librarian's Vampire Assistant book 5 is a standalone, vampire mystery with a dash of romance and giggles you shouldn't miss.

Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is back with another paranormal romance! Ahhh…It should be so simple, but, come on, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff…that means humor, heart, danger, quirky characters and a seemingly impossible mission (storyline) to work through. Settle in, get comfortable and be prepared for a journey unlike any vampire love story you have ever read! Did I mention, you will laugh out loud? See longtime characters in a completely new light and remember there are always plot twists, lots of them and you won’t see them coming!

Two frustrated vampires in a love/not love/but really is love relationship. A vampire king without emotions, a vampire hunter who has become a vampire, when all she wanted to be was a librarian, never has life proved more like a freefall from a perfectly good plane. THE LIBRARIAN’S VAMPIRE ASSISTANT, BOOK 5 has everything but the kitchen sink, but that’s probably because Ms. Pamfiloff had a word count limit.

The paranormal world will never look the same again! Great reading, fun, strangely romantic, and worth every minute it took to read!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! This is my honest and voluntary review.

This series is adorable and quirky and utterly unique. I love Michael and Miriam and all of their little peculiarities. They are both over the top, and another opportunity to get into their heads is always a pleasure.

In Book 5, we find Michael after Miriam has been turned into a vampire. Waiting 5 years to be reunited with his love, only to find that she is now among one of his subjects, the King of the Vampires has turned off all emotion. He is the Executioner and king, and Michael will not let himself feel anything towards his librarian or their child, yet he knows that he must protect them at all costs from Mr. Nice who seeks to harm them. Or, is it really Mr. Nice that is trying to hurt them??

This story had so many twists and turns that simply thrilled me. I did not see where this story was going, would never have anticipated the way everything would have played out. It was a wild, ridiculous ride, and was genuinely fun.

While each of these books is touted as a stand alone, I don’t find that to be the case. Having waited more than a minute for this installment, I found that I still had to go back and refresh my memory from the end of Book 4. Coming into this story not knowing any of the background would truly put the reader at a disadvantage, and being aware of everything that had taken place before really gave a better picture of the utter ridiculousness of every situation. From the tiny blue car to the references to spicy foods, I think someone coming in to this story as their first exposure to the perennially young Michael and his formerly timid librarian would be more than a little perplexed.

My only negative comment is that I’m not sure if this series just ended….or it was a teaser for the next chapter in Michael and Miriam’s saga! This author is talented and engaging, and not just a little bit mean.

This book! So great. Perfect ending.
Told in duel POV we finally get Miriam's side of the story. Michael and Miriam are pulled together once again this time with their daughter, Stella, because someone is trying to kill them. We all know how much they love a good mystery. Written to be a standalone you don't have to read the first four (especially if you hate cliffhangers) but really binge read them all! It was the perfect ending to this series. But now I'm waiting on Freddy and Gretta's book. I absolutely loved this book. Humor, action, romance, beheaded vampires, explosions and a new caca azul. Check it out.

opy of The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant Book 5 by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff and I was sooo excited. I had already picked up the first book on a free day and loved it, so I dove right in. Fortunately it can be read as a stand alone, so I didn’t have any trouble following along.

I am immediately drawn back into Michael and Miriam’s world, watching the characters grow and change, finding their place in a world not of their own making. When it comes to a sacrifice that may free her from the life of a vampire, will Miriam take it? No choice is easy. There are always consequences.

OMG… I loved the book, but as I read the last chapter, I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. This is not in anyway a vampire romance you have read before. Five stars for love, hope, laughter and sweet sweet Stella. I will sorely miss these characters, now that the story has been told and the series is done.

Humans can live without us, but we cannot live without them. And that is why they must always be protected, for better or worse, they are the species that make this world what it is.

Well it had to end somewhere and I think this was probably the perfect way for this bonkers series to end. This author writes incredibly crazy stories that twist, turn and utterly bamboozle the reader but nevertheless always entertain. Michael the Vampire King may not feel love for Miriam anymore but as a possessive Vampire he doesn't let go of that which belongs to him. Miriam might long for her funny, sweet assistant to return but her need to protect her daughter trumps everything else. Mr Nice needs ending because what other choice is there ? Hmm actually Mimi definitely has an idea but my lips are sealed ! Read this series in order to truly appreciate just how devious the author is and enjoy the journey because it's a fabulous ride with the sweetest ending.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

What an ending! I want to curse and kiss the author at the same time. It’s perfect, but also frustrating.

She pulls another twist out of her hat, with a new surprising character. Through him, we learn a bit more about Michael’s past. Nice comes back, and it isn’t pretty–or is it? And we also get more about Miriam’s past and family. I haven’t counted, but I’m guessing there’s a revelation in each chapter.

More importantly, we left Miriam and Michael’s relationship at its lowest. The crux of the book revolves around how–and if–they can mend it, and finally be together. And because the author likes to play with her readers, the answer isn’t an easy one. But you’ll have to read the book to know if it’s an HEA!

Quickie

- Series: The librarian’s vampire assistant #5 (it’s a serial)
- Hashtags: #paranormal romance #romantic suspense #vampire
- Trigger: some vampire violence
- Main couple: Miriam Murphy & Michael Vanderhorst
- Hotness: 3/5
- Romance: 5/5
- + a love so strong, it’s beautiful
- – what the hell with the ending? I like it, but… uh?

While this book can be read as a stand alone book and you would enjoy it, reading it as the final book in the series, one would expect a nice, neat wrap-up of the series. However, you would be wrong! As always with books by Mimi Jean, there are plot twists that you never see coming. When Michael and Miriam, and their daughter Stella are finally reunited after five years, during which Miriam and Stella were living as captives of Mr. Nice, we readers expect that there may be some struggle but in the end, all would turn out well. Instead, we are left begging for book six!! I must add that I had no idea that Mimi Jean is a biochemist! The ideas that come out of her head amaze me!! Well done!

I have to say I expect a certain level of silliness from this authors books but I have never laughed so hard at that ending. Omg that was hilarious.

And I know it’s the last of the series but man if she didn’t leave it wide open to return to.

This series holds a special place in my heart! I discovered Mimi's excellent work through LVA #1 and since then enjoyed every single one of her books I pick up.

I never pick up a Librarian's Vampire Assistant book and not finish it in one night (yep, I like to read a good vampire story at night, while sipping Moroccan tea). :) Of course, I regret reading it so fast right after I reached The End! I always want more and wished I had made it last a little longer.

I absolutely ADORE this series, and Book 5 (the finale) is bittersweet. It can be read as a standalone, but the pace is so fast and the whole story so intriguing that I really recommend you read all the books in the series.

So now, what can I do? No more Michael? No more Miriam? How am I going to survive it? The characters came to life and there is no way you won't fall in love with them like I (and many others) did. The book has it all: humor, wit, mystery, twists, suspense, romance, vampires, and Michael!!!! :)

Maybe I sound like I'm rambling, but really: read it and you'll understand... :)

*** Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff ***

What a fun and wild ride! I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this entire series. The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant #5 is a humorous and engaging paranormal read that kept me on my toes as well as had me howling with laughter.

Things that I loved:
- the hilarious inner musings from Michael and Miriam
- the eccentric and loony Mr. Nice
- the witty dialogue amongst all the characters
- Mystery! Mystery! Mystery!

Things that I disliked:
- Nothing! The entire book is phenomenal!

It is impossible not to adore Michael for his interesting personality even if I wanted to shake him a few times and I enjoyed having several chapters from Miriam’s POV. As a heroine, she is one of my favorites. There is never a dull moment as the adventure these two find themselves embroiled in is vastly entertaining. I loved the quirky secondary cast of characters and their unique contributions to the story. This author was positively evil with all of those plots twists, but they are what made this such an exciting journey.

The ending of LVA5 is perfect and I can just imagine the author’s maniacal laughter as she typed out those last few chapters. She truly is brilliant! If you have read any her other works or follow her on social media, then you will enjoy the little inside jokes interspersed throughout the novel. LVA5 is technically a standalone, however the entire series is highly entertaining and I do recommend starting at the beginning for the ultimate experience. If you are looking for a fast-paced, paranormal cozy mystery with endearing characters, humor, suspense, and a bit of romance, then you will definitely want to get your hands on this book!

I voluntarily read an early version of this book. All thoughts are my own.

So once again I have to thank Mimi and her team for supplying me with an ARC of this, the final(?) book in the Librarians Vampire Assistant Series.

First Off!!! WTAH Mimi!?
Groundhog day much?

What were you thinking when you wrote this, or is it the trauma from the kidnapping? This was cruel and unexpected, and really writer, you need to fix this!

So, Michael is still being his Twatty King of the Vampires self. But what's this about sweet little new vampire Miriam dusting five, yes! FIVE vampires?? How?
Well, read on folks! This is one messed up story!

As much as Michael wants to not have them, the feelings for Miriam and Stella are there! Miriam still loves Michael despite everything, and what the hell is that thing with Freddie!
OMG, this is madness!

I think our Queen of Crazy, Mimi, has finally lost the plot with this one!
Mr Nice has really done has job on her. Maybe they only thing that can save her is another collaboration with Kylie? get this all sorted out?

I have loved this series, but Mimi. Yes. I'm pointing at you!!
That ending was cruel!

This series has been one crazy ride, and I couldn't wait to see how everything would work out. I am addicted to Michael and Miriam, and I really needed things to be okay for them. They have been through so much already, and I knew I couldn't guess what was coming. I really wanted resolution for all the threads running through the series.
This book is absolutely my favorite of the series because we get both Michael and Miriam's POVs. I really enjoyed getting both sides of the story and a first-hand look at their feelings as the story progressed. In fact, I found myself getting choked up at times because I felt doubly invested. I won't reveal any spoilers, but I got what I wanted from this book. I was absolutely satisfied by the last page, and there were happy tears. If you have been along for the ride, you will be glad you read this one, too. If you haven't read the others, you can jump in here because enough background is covered to catch up with the main plot points from before and still get the emotional intensity.
As a side note, I have listened to the audiobooks of the previous books in the series, and the narrator does a fastastic job. I don't know how he manages to come up with so many voices to reflect these crazy personalities, but he nails it. I highly recommend the audio all with the books, and I am looking forward to hearing this one, too.

In this installment had me hooked from page one! While each book in this series can be read as a standalone book, it would be helpful to read this series from book one so that one is familiar with the past events that have taken place.

In this installment, we encounter pick back up with Michael, Vampire King and Miriam. new vampire, mother of his child and his librarian. Throughout most of this book, I wanted to maim Michael because he was just horrid to Miriam in not saying either hers or Stella's name and barely acknowledging their existence until they were placed in mortal danger. Miriam, does her best to mother Stella and try to make Michael more involved with his child. We also see the return of Mr Nice as well as Alex, Lula and a few new characters.

Michael and Miriam are faced with a new mystery in this book as the pair work to find Mr. Nice and then who is after them. There are a few twists in this book but overall, I could not wait to see what happened next. If this is your type of read then look no more as I would recommend this book to others.

Say it isn’t so! No more Vanderhorst? Or Miriam? Or even Mr. Nice?? Book five was the exciting finale in Mimi Jean Pamfiloff’s Librarian’s Vampire Assistant mystery series. The door was left open just a teeny tiny crack, though, so there is always the possibility of something in the future… *crosses fingers*

I really am sorry to have to say goodbye (for now?) to the characters that have become near and dear to my heart from this series. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the previous four books, though. You can read this on its own easily enough. But once you get a taste of all that is the awesome duo of Michael and Miriam, well…you’ll want to read every single book... Read More

Omg can things get any more worse for Michael and Miriam well maybe. Michael's humanity is turned off Miriam is now a vampire thanks to Mr Nice and speaking of him he's still on the loose with Lula as his temporary Fanged Love. Well that will change as soon as Miriam can find Mr Nice an dust that mad vampire for all the Hell he's put her and her daughter through.
Its because of Mr Nice that Michael has lost his ability to love her and the first 5 years of his daughter life and the love a father should have for his child.
With all that to deal with the last thing Miriam needs is an assassin trying to kill her they've blown up her beloved library and whether its Mr Nice or not whomever it is will pay for destroying it as the librarian is not just any librarian shes a pissed off Vampire librarian and she'll will do whats necessary to protect her life, her daughter and bring back the humanity of the man she loves.

Love this book. great read 👍

I was so excited to get a copy of this book as I was left not knowing what would happen to Michael after he shuts of his emotions after thinking the worst for Miriam. Normally you only get Michael 's point of view so I was looking forward to get Miriam's to see what she was thinking and feeling towards Michel as the story progressed. From the moment I started reading there was never a dull moment and I was constantly thinking what was going to happen next, Will Michael get his feeling back, will there be a happy ending. Will Miriam be able to save the people she loves. With every thing going on I couldn't put it down and I loved every minute but Mimi you shocked me with the twist to the end that I didn't see it coming till it happened and I'm praying this can't be the end.

Oh man! You’ve outdone yourself this time Mimi Jean!!!

This book? It’s spectacular!! Full of plot twists and turns you never see coming. It’s full of laughs, puns, Mr. Nice, Michael AND Freddy, love and a happily ever after.

This is one of those series you need to read in order, but you’ll fall in love with each and every character and won’t want the series to end!!!

That ending! Oh my God! Ok, so I don't want to spoil it but Mimi is an evil genius when it comes original plot twists. The series could easily be over, have a spin off, or continue following the current main characters a little longer; so many options and I'm super excited she ended it that way! Same great characters, same crazy but awesome plot twists, and ALL the mysteries to entertain your inner vampire child. Enjoy!

I’m kind of sad to have an end to the saga of Michael and Miriam. And the end of LVA4, I felt they were dealing with an insurmountable problem and wasn’t sure how it would it all come to pass.

LVA5 was once again full of OTT humor and situations. Full of twists and unexpected complications, I was kept thoroughly invested and interested from start to finish.

I only wish there was more. An extended epilogue perhaps? The ending, while sufficient, was not enough. I needed more.

But alas, we must say goodbye to a delightfully fun series.

Although this is book 5 in the series it can be read on it's own. To be honest you're going to want to read the whole series. Miriam and Michael's love has had many obstacles to overcome. This book has strong characters with a strong love. The question is will it be strong enough to overcome the struggles they are facing? This story is packed full of humor, drama, twists, and turns that will keep you guessing until the last word is read.

Mimi Jean has done it AGAIN!!!!

This was a superb ending to test another one of her great series! Or, could it be the beginning of something else!!

I signed up for an ARC of this book because let’s face it, I love Mimi Jean and vampires! I didnt know if it would be the end or not but I definitely knew it was going to be something great!

I first read Michael and Miriam’s story back in December of 2019, so when I signed up to read the latest book I knew I had to finish the others! That’s just me. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I needed the whole effect of their story one behind the other.

This book picks up right where the other left off! That’s the great thing about Mimi’s writing, her stories always mesh well together and never leave you hanging! She has a way of putting details from each book into the next should you want to read them a a standalone.

Let’s dive right in...
Michael had shut off his feelings which makes him less human and more vampire! He had finally turned into the ruthless King his vampire people need him to be. There’s just one small knick in his plans to be an emotionless vampire king and she comes in the form of white blouses, pencil skirts, glasses and a messy bun.

Miriam is a newbie person with a little one to think about now so there is no room to harbor feelings for someone who has none. She has her own agenda to complete and nothing or no one will stop her!

Mr. Nice is a straight up whack job with a secret! His secret will lead to something that no one saw coming! His chance at finally starting over! BUT, will he change his horrible nasty ways? One can only hope!

Stella...little Stella! I need know more about her and her being a one of a kind. She’s the sweetest little thing ever. In the beginning, she has a hard time but all works out in the end...or does it?

Mystery! Mystery! Mystery!

Long story short, I absolutely loved this series and I’m hoping there will be more! Mimi Jean did a fantabulous job writing it. It was by far one of the most hilarious series I’ve had the pleasure of reading!

If you haven’t started...what are you waiting for!

This book was amazing. It was full of mystery and excitement and twists and turns that I could never see coming, even though I've read every book Mimi Jean has ever published. I still can't predict her. It surprised me right up until the end. This is supposed to be the last book in the series, but ARC readers (like me) are already complaining to Mimi Jean that she can't leave us like this. Once the book officially comes out I think there will be an avalanche of people begging for more, and that Mimi Jean will write another book in the series, or at the very least set in the same world. At least, that is the hope that I am clinging to :)

Mimi Jean Pamfiloff reveals her truly diabolical nature with The Librarian's Vampire Assistant Book 5. She's built in so many twists, turns and unexpected aha or oh wow moments that you may need to take notes to keep things straight. It's a page turner and an absolute delight!

Miriam and Michael both have some deep secrets. Neither of them seems inclined to trust the other until it becomes apparent that someone is trying to dust one or both of them. Michael has a plan but needs to find Nice first. He finally has to confide in his librarian in order to put the plan in motion. The outcome is fairly certain but ends up having unintended consequences.

Well, what can I say. Another hit for Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. While this is a standalone, you should read the previous four books, if not for content, then for pure enjoyment. This books follows the final(?) adventures of Michael and Miriam. And a great ride it is. Learn what happens as Michael finds his true self and his love. Find out what happens to Mimi Jean and Kylie and Fanged Love. Enjoy a few old and new characters that will have you laughing at their craziness. The book comes full circle in Michael and Miriam's story. While it's supposed to be the series finale, we are left with the possibility (and hope) of another book. Kudos and congrats Mimi Jean.

The ending wasn’t quite what I had hoped for but it wouldn’t be a Mimi winner if she didn’t leave us wanting just a little more. And maybe there will be more? Mimi, you’re a sly little minx.
LVA 5 didn’t disappoint with jaw-dropping moments that will leave you screaming “what?!?” and questioning all you thought you knew. Here’s a hint: you know nothing. I shook my head more than once and loved every minute of it. You won’t want to miss the end (?) of LVA and really, if you’ve gotten this far into the series, why would you want to miss it?

What a great end to a great series. This time round we get both Miriam's and Michael's points of view. It's a rollercoaster of a ride from beginning to end with familiar characters and several unexpected surprises thrown in.

I do really dislike it when authors release stories in short parts: something slightly avaricious about it. Nevertheless, I have really enjoyed this series. It was a pleasure to receive an ARC copy for review and I can't recommend it enough. Laughs and tears all the way through.

“The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant, Book 5” is part of paranormal romance series. It’s a suspense filled story with lots of ups and downs. It’s a quirky story about two lovers separated by a not-so-Nice character. Michael tries to move on but he’s drawn back into Miriam’s orbit because of a threatening letter and a video that only a vampire would consider porn.
I recommend this book and the rest of the books in this series. If you haven’t read any of the books, it’s time to get started.
