Omegas of Animals #2

A Mate for Hudson

Rate this book
It all started with a crime…

Omega wolf shifter Hudson was set up—set up for a crime he never committed. Following the advice of his pack’s seer, he fled in the middle of the night to find a new life in the desert. He finds a job at a greasy spoon diner, and it’s not much, but it’s better than where he left, even if he has to hide his true self—his wolf. When Karma comes in and offers him a new job at a shifter night club, he jumps at the chance. As much as he loves his freedom, he misses being pack. A job isn’t pack—but it might fill the void.

It all started with a blind date—a bad one…

Alpha bear shifter Shane is sick of dating; it always ends in rejection. His bear is longing for more than one-night stands—he wants a mate and cubs and all the things he knows he will never have, not once they find out he’s latent. Omegas want strong alphas who can protect them with teeth and claws, not alphas stuck in their skin. But when his roommate sets him up on one last date he begrudgingly agrees. How bad could it be? Getting punched in the face, a broken nose, and needing to be saved by an omega bad—that’s how.

So why is his bear crying out Mine?

A Mate for Hudson is a sweet with knotty heat M/M shifter mpreg romance served up with a side of daddy yums, an unexpected pregnancy, and a guaranteed HEA. It features a bear who can’t shift, an omega embarrassed by his past, a found family, an adorable baby, and some familiar faces from the Omegas of Animals universe. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone. If you like your alphas hawt, your omegas strong, and your mpreg with heart, download today.

This one, I like it better than the first one. I like that we see some characters from past books, like Hudson's brother and Penelope. And I liked the way the story flowed a lot better.

A lighthearted, adorable and soft read. While omega/alpha there isn't much steam on page, still I loved the relationship between Hudson and Shane. Their romance is lovely and I enjoyed how they saved each other.

The glow bowling, kitten, poster and omega moon. How they find comfort and support together, Shanes struggle with his latency and Hudson moving forward as they find their mate in each other.

I adore the setting of the Animals bar and how its a place for all types of paranormal. Variety of shifters, vampires and more creatures although many are not discussed. The magic of the world and sight of future was interesting.

Overall a fun, fast paced sweet story with a beautiful ending. Bringing all the family together and look at their life a few years later was lovely 💕

Another speed run:(

Sigh... good premise again but also another speed run. The story could have been soooo good but it was on fast forward for some reason. Lovestories (even quickie/insta love stories) should not feel like the story has the zoomies.

A Mate for Hudson was a solid read with plenty to like, but it did start to feel a bit repetitive as it went on. Shane’s journey with his latent nature and his internal back-and-forth was understandable—but after a while it circled the same emotional beat

That said, Hudson and Shane have real chemistry, and their connection carries the story even when the pacing drags. Hudson’s patience and grounded nature balance out Shane’s uncertainty in a way that feels earned by the end. Secondary characters add texture without overwhelming the main plot, and there are genuinely sweet moments that land well.

Overall, enjoyable and heartfelt but just a touch overstretched in places. Three stars from me.

Sometimes life isn't what you expect.

Shane is a bear that can't shift. Hudson is a wolf without a pack. Karma brings them together in this great romance!

I like that we get both points of view in this book. I hate when we only hear from one character because then I am always wondering what the other person is thinking! I didn't read the first book but I think it was okay. I don't think you have to to understand this one. I think the characters were good for one another. It was a sweet read.

On to what made me give it only 3 stars. It was rushed, even for a fated mate's book. it also had mistakes. the wrong name, someone wearing clothes and yet be naked in the same paragraph (no they didn't remove their clothes it was just a content error). I recommend a content editor and some fleshing out.

Love overcomes all

I love how Hudson made Shane feel better and more confident. I think that they are great together, and that Joe is going to be trouble.

In the dark of night, Penelope woke Hudson to begin his escape. He had been framed for something he didn’t do, accused by the one who stole the money. He was worried about his brother, but Penelope said he was where he should be and his destiny was bright, so Hudson shifted to his wolf and followed her directions to a truck with a backpack containing what he would need. He worked at the diner where his ride dropped him off until a woman arrived and told him his Aunt Penelope called and to follow her. When Karma offers him a new job at a shifter night club called Animals, he goes with her.

Shane is a bear shifter who can’t shift. His roommate Cody told him he needed to date, but Shane didn’t want a one-night-stand. He wanted a family. But any Omega he dated eventually wanted them to shift – and being a latent, Shane couldn’t. That was usually the kiss of death to the relationship. But Cody promised if he went on one more date, he would stop bothering him about dating. So Shane agreed. They double-dated to Animals. Shane’s date was a coyote shifter. He had already been drinking before they got there, and he kept ordering drinks. He was obnoxious to the waitress, so Shane went to the bar to give her a larger tip for what she had to put up with. She was on break, so he asked a bartender to give her the tip. When he turned around, it was the sexy dishwasher guy he had seen who told him now that he was also a bartender trainee. Shane’s rude date staggered up and demanded another drink, but Shane took him outside to sober up. The guy demanded he shift and run with him. When Shane refused, he made fun of him, guessing he was a latent, then punched and hit him. Before he could continue, a wolf flew through the air and went after the coyote who ran off after Hudson released him. Hudson’s wolf kept saying MINE every time he looked at Shane. Then he took Shane back inside to clean him up from all his bleeding cuts and broken nose.

All week, Hudson could not stop thinking about the alpha who refused to lift a finger against an omega. As an omega himself who had been pummeled more than a few times by nasty alphas, it amazed him. When Karma took him to the mall to buy clothes since his got damaged that night he helped his customer, he never expected to see Shane who owned the print shop where Karma had party invitations printed. Shane had been thinking about Hudson all week too. His bear had been rumbling quite a bit but, no matter how his bear felt about it, he was sure Hudson would never be interested in an alpha he had to rescue. But Karma was ahead of both of them. She gave Shane an invitation to her exclusive party. And when he saved Hudson from a drunk aggressive lion shifter, she gave him the night off so he and Shane could be together. After a wonderful night, Hudson woke early and got up to go to the bathroom, still happy and his wolf repeating “Mine!” He thought about the Omega Moon ceremony coming up that confirmed when a wolf found his mate. Instead, he found Shane was dressed and leaving! Hudson’s hints about going back to bed were brushed off and he insisted he had to go. He got a loose one-armed friendship hug, and a thanks-I-had-a-good-time comment! He refused the offer to walk him back so he didn’t get lost in the cave dwellings. What happened? Why was he now so cold? Was it something Hudson did? Will he see him again? He had started believing his wolf – this was his mate! But Shane walked away.

This story was so good. Shane and Hudson were perfect for each other, both kind and loving. Karma and Penelope and even the older lady who helped with Hudson’s costume were helping them to find each other. Will Hudson find out what upset Shane? Can he convince him they need each other? Grab your copy of this wonderful story and see if they can find their HEA in each other.

A Mate for Hudson is the second book in the ‘Omegas of Animals’ series. It stars omega wolf shifter Hudson, and Alpha bear shifter Shane. The story is told in first person from both Hudson and Shane’s povs.

Hudson and Shane are an adorable fated mate couple. Loving one another against all odds gives you all the feels.

Hudson is a fierce omega wolf. He had to flee home to escape a dangerous punishment for a crime he never had a hand in committing. For the sake of his life and his brother, he does as he is told and flees. The seer laid out all the steps for Hudson to arrive safely in his new life. Karma always knows when to show up.

Shane is a latent bear and so tired of dating. Once an omega finds out he cant' change into his animal form, they bolt. Tired of his roommate pushing him to find love, he agrees to one last date and then he's free to do his woe is me routing at home. In his heart, all he wishes is to find love like other shifter couples and especially his roommate. Little did he know, this would be the best decision of his life. If only he could get out of his own wall of self doubt.

Shane and his roomie double date at the best club in town, Animals. There he ogles an employee named Hudson. He finds it hard to enjoy himself as his date gets drunk and he feels obligated to keep an eye on him. Their paths keep crossing and leave it to Karma to find a way. Shane and his date go outside for some air. His date, for the umpteenth time, realizes he is unable to shift and begins attacking him. Shane is a gentlemen and takes all the blow, despite then drawing blood. Hudson shifts and protects his fated mate. Too bad he isn't listening to the voices and emotions just yet.
Hudson helps Shane clean up his wounds. Things go from one step to another. Yes, Karma is definitely involved. Yet, so is the Omega Moon. Leave it up to Shane to fight it. Thinks he is unworthy of Hudson's love. Hudson refuses to give up on his fate and works hard to let Shane know he is worthy of love, a mate and his latent state is irrelevant.

If you read the previous series, Crimson Cliff Pack, you'll remember Hudson's brother Raff. Both escaped a dangerous pack and have found their happily ever afters. So perfect to see their families expanded and reunited. Lavender is still as cute and bossy as ever.
***************************************************************************************************
While this book can be read as a standalone, it will be worth your time to read the series in order. The Crimson Cliff Pack is where I recommend starting.

My Review

I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, and I don’t think you need to.

Hudson is an omega wolf by the sounds of it, he hasn’t had much luck, he’s had to escape his pack to keep his brother safe. Working in a diner as the potwash is hard work, but it keeps him busy, and that’s all Hudson needs at the moment, he can’t phone his brother to check up on him, he just has to hope his life is better than it was before!
Then he gets another job in a shifter bar, potwash again, but the hours and pay are better than the last one, and now his boss wants him to train as a barman! It’s challenging, but Hudson is a hard worker, so won’t let her down.

Shane is an alpha bear, without a bear! For some unknown reason (do we find out why?) his bear won’t make an appearance! So what shifter would want to mate with him?! He happy watching tv and eating, but he knows that’s not the life he wants!

Shane and Hudson meet briefly at the bar Hudson works at, in fact Hudson came to his rescue when a shifter attacked Shane for not shifting! Both are interested in one another, but neither act on their impulses.....
They meet again at the printing shop Shane owns (Hudson and his boss pop into pick up invites that the bar need for their Halloween party) Shane is given an invite and told to come, both hope to see each other there....
Shane comes to Hudson’s rescue at the bar when a lion doesn’t take no for an answer!!

It’s a slow burn romance (which for a shifter book is unusual 😉) but after Shane and Hudson spend the night together, a misunderstanding occurs and Shane leaves, thinking Hudson only wanted a one night stand!!

Shane is very use to people not wanting him, and why would they, his bear won’t make an appearance, and on a daily basis he doubts Hudson will want him forever!

I’m getting use to reading m/m mpreg books, it’s funny how each author sees males giving differently.
The sex scenes aren’t really discussed, so if you want graphic details about how they do about it for hours, your going to be disappointed! But if you love a romance story with a hint of naughty times, then this book is for you.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we get Hudson and Shane. Hudson is on the run for a crime he didn't commit. When the pack healer tells him he must run from his pack lands now he doesn't want to leave his brother behind but follows her instructions. Along his journey he meets the people the pack healer told him he would but can't believe this is happening. Though he worries about his brother and wants to call him he knows that if he does he is putting them both in jeopardy. When he reaches the place that was foretold to him he doesn't understand but tries to stay under the radar. That is until he sees a alpha being beaten by an omega. He doesn't understand why he is letting this happen but his wolf claims the man and has to step in. Hudson can't believe he let his friend con him into one more blind date. Though he wants a mate he knows there isn't one out there for him. See no omega wants a latent alpha. He is sick of being rejected once they find out. That is why is he is surprised when an omega he saw in the kitchen comes out and helps him. The pull he feels towards him surprises him as well. He isn't sure though because who wants to put themselves out there to be rejected again by the one you feel is truly meant to be your mate. Will these two find the HEA they are longing for or will secrets drive them apart forever?

This is another amazing story by this author. It does have its ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will take you on a journey you won't want to get off of. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Who does well when awakened from sleep and told to run? Penelope wakes Hudson and tells him to run assurring him that his younger brother, Raff is where he is supposed to be. Hudson's journey leads him to find help and give help. When he lands at the diner and finds work, help finds him to bring him to pack. Shane-A, was latent and unable to shift. He didn't want to randomly date because he was looking for his one to settle down with and start a family. Karma, came to get Hudson and took him to Animal's owned by her mate. Shane, cleverly conned Cody into him having a date with a human, and if things didn't work out, Cody would stop trying to get him to date. But, Cody prevailed and found Shane an Omega, Franz. Sadly, he was not only not for Shane, he was not a nice guy. Hudson, rescues Shane and a connection is made. Secretly, each recognized their mate. They just didn't communicate well. Shane's bear recognized Hudson as his mate, Shane hoping his bear will finally make an appearance. Does Shane's bear come out to play? Does Shane recognize he is enough? Does Hudson go after his man? Good story. Funny! Nice characters. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hudson an Omega, had to leave his pack with the seers help, he is now working at a Diner when a Karma comes in and says he shouldnt be working there, next thing he knows he working and living at Animals. He is on his break when he sees a big man just standing there while a thin man punches him in the nose. Taking quick action and shifting in to his wolf form he pins the man to the ground. After all is done he looks at the man.. Alpha and his wolf says mine!!
Shane a Bear Alpha, the only thing is , is that his bear is Latent, but on seeing Hudson his bear grows out mine. Shane was only here at Animals because he was once again set up on a double date, which didnt go well. However hes willing to see how they both go.
It takes Shane a bit to get over his shyness and because of his Bear been latent he dosnt think Hudson will except him for who he is, but Hudson is a very understanding Omega.

I loved this story, i deliberately didnt have any spoilers to much in her.... why cause it would spoil the beautiful book and its one that you really want to read for yourself.

A latent bear and a lone wolf walk into a bar....

Welcome back to the world of Animals. The shifter nightclub. Where Karma is the owner, bartender Goldie has 3 bear mates, and the fun never ends. I love being here. Everyone feels like old friends. There are seers, good friends, shifters of all sorts, a little angst, and a lot of steamy sex. Oh, did I mention an adorable kitten? Enter Hudson. Told to leave his birth pack to save his brother's life, Hudson finds himself working at Animals. When he meets Shane, his wolf cries Mine! The fact that Shane is a latent bear doesn't bother Hudson. He loves the man for who he is, not what he could be. Come. Join Hudson & Shane as they find each other and start a new life together. Just don't turn them loose in the dollar store! HEA is assured. You will love this book!
This book can be read as a stand- alone. But I recommend reading the previous books in order. You will be glad you did.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

3.5 stars

This was actually really low angst. Shane and Hudson were sweet together. The story doesn't really touch a lot of Hudson's previous pack, but since I've read the his brother's story*, I was amazed at how much Hudson was willing to trust those that help him along the way. I liked how Hudson reacted to finding out that Shane is a latent (a shifter that can't actually shift). I also really liked that meeting his mate wasn't an instant fix for Shane. My only real issue with the story was the giant time jumps at the end. I know those chapters are meant to round out the story, but really the big jumps leave me feeling like I missed so much of the story.

*If you want to know the full story about Hudson's brother Raff, you'll want to read Omega Struck.

This book is fantastic! A wonderful story that is well worth readinng! Hudson is a wolf shifter who has run away from his pack after being wrongly accused of a crime. Along the way, several things he has been told will come to pass and he will find that he is right where he needs to be with a new family. Working at the bar, he encounters Shane, a bear shifter that can't shift and his wolf immediately knows him as his mate. Shane wants a family but all the omegas run from him when they find out he can't shift. That is, unti he meets Hudson. His bear gets as close to the surface as he has ever been and soon the two are spending all their free time together. Shane constantly worries about not being enough but when Hudson turns up pregnant, he is thrilled to finally get his family. In the end, Hudson and Shane will have their wonderful family, Hudson will get to see his brother Raff again and the cousins will get along so well that everything seems to be just perfect.

Hudson was setup for a crime he didn’t do, the pack seer told him that he had to leave to save his brother he would have help getting where he needed to be. Ended with a job at Animals a shifter bar doing the dishes then a bartender. Shane owned a printing shop and a latent bear shifter. They met when Hudson was defending Shane at the bar. But Hudson showed him that they can be mates as their animals said even if he couldn’t shift. Also the omega moon also showed Shane and Hudson that they were mates. After years apart he finally got to see his brother. Love the book! But never had a bad book from Lorelei M. Hart!

A very sweet romance. I like how everything that the healer predicted went well for Hudson. Only thing that wasn't predicted was that Hudson would find his mate. Their fateful meeting and courtship was a delight. Shane has his insecurities but Hudson is there by his side with lots of love and care. Shane is such a sweet and sensitive alpha bear. You see why Hudson is drawn to him...he is so lovable. This story is heavy on the intense emotional connection the guys have and less on the physical steam. I enjoyed this romance and can't wait for the next story in the series.

This m/m shifter mpreg love story was super sweet and fun. Hudson is starting over in a new place and when he meets Shane all he knows is he’s drawn to the bear of a man. He’s so sweet and all he wants to do is protect him even though Hudson is an omega and Shane an alpha. Their love story is very low angst and so full of love you can’t help but fall in love with these characters. I’m excited to read the next book in the series.

4.5 stars. Hudson builds a life with a found-family at Animals growing and learning to stand on his own. Shane's desire to give up on finding a mate made sense; too many rejections for something he had no control over. I liked that while Hudson understood Shane's pain and shame he never once saw him as anything but whole and perfect just the way he was. I've been waiting for Raff, from Omega Struck, and his brother to be reconciled. It made for the perfect ending of the story to see them all safe and happy.

Bear alpha Shane is latent, which means that he cannot shift, although he has a bear in him. It is the one impediment to his having a family, as every omega rejects him once they find out, until he meets Hudson. Hudson, a wolf omega, recognizes Shane as his mate and does not care, if the bear wants to come out or not - at least not for himself. But it will take a while for Shane to believe that..
A nice story, entertaining and well written, but just a touch stereotype. Still - fun to read.

The Wolf Finds His Bear

Another great story from the Lorelie M. Hart team. Once again, this story centers around the Animals nightclub crew, carrying over characters from the first book. It can be read as a standalone, but is better read in series order. I just wish it had revealed more about the problems that caused Hudson to leave his pack and whether Shane's problem was resolved.

This book is fantastically fantastic. I truly enjoyed the angsty, "Am I good enough to be a mate" story. Hot and sexy, complex characters and some adorable kids all make for a great read.
