Knockout is the backstory of the elusive Errant character, K.O. (Oliver). There are subtle hints of his background throughout Errant as the physical, emotional, and psychological scars of his time in Kansas is in everything that he does, feels and thinks. In this novella, we get to see his origins including the awful conditions in which he truly came into his powers. It was nice to see the what lies beneath the shell we came to know. It gave a clearer picture and made K.O. more dynamic and relatable. I also really enjoyed learning how he and the rest of his friends became a family.
We all also have stories that we love but have lingering questions about and any reader has to appreciate when an author gives them what they want. That is exactly what author Montrez did. I really enjoyed getting an little extra meat to give better context to the story and it’s character(s). I will be anxiously waiting for the next installment of the 12:01 series.
Voluntarily reviewed after I received a free copy of this novella courtesy of the author, Montrez, in exchange for my honest review.
