Episode 01 - 25
It's one of those manhwa where the hero is thrown back in time at the final destruction of the world so he's able to start again and try saving the world with the knowledge what went wrong on the last try. Quite common manhwa trope, so it's always a question about the art, the characters and what is added/changed compared to the usual way such a story goes.
Contrary to the title it's not so much the magic of the returner, Desir, that is special but his attitude. He's still several steps ahead due to his knowledge about the future and he's also still a powerful guy because he knows how to wield and advance his magic and of course he keeps his knowledge still for himself but he doesn't have the the lone-wolf approach. Here we have a MC who knows that he can't save the world on his own, who knows that he has to find and mentor those comrades who stood at his side in the past which is now the future.
There's not much regarding the adding of variety to the common story arc, maybe the strict class system at the magic university and its difficulties which Desir has to overcome and I liked that the usual 'dungeon' is called shadow world and explained as some kind of parallel world that starts to overlap Desir's world and is going to consume it if it's not 'cleared' in time but that's mostly it. The characters are agreeable, some even cute or quirky but no one too detailed or complex. The same applies to the art: nice, 2-dimensional and colorful without being too flashy. The biggest surprise though: it's a charming read which can't be said about most of the other manhwa with that trope. So it's not so much the curiosity about how this story evolves or sympathizing with the characters and their fate that keeps me reading; it's being comfortable with the flow of the story, trusting that the author won't disturb that flow even while writing about the possible doom. It's a pleasurable pastime, nothing more, nothing less.

En este primer volumen conocemos a Desir, un experimentado guerrero que recibe la oportunidad de empezar de nuevo. Tras casi morir en uno de los laberintos de las sombras a manos de un dragón, Desir vuelve a aparecer en el día de la selección de la Academia Hebrion, la escuela de entrenamiento más prestigiosa del continente. Allí tendrá que volver a ganarse la confianza de sus compañeros, superar el sistema de castas entre alfas (nobles) y plebeyos (betas) y entrenar con ellos, formando el que en un futuro será uno de los mejores equipos de hechiceros.
Este primer tomo está repleto de risas y humor. Además de tener una trama muy interesante y adictiva, este manwha promete muchísimo. Estoy deseando leer el siguiente tomo.

Ich habe ein neues Wort gelernt: Manhwa! Das sind Comics aus Südkorea – und dieser hier war mein erster davon, der direkt einen sehr fesselnden, guten Eindruck hinterlassen hat!
Mir ist recht schnell die lebendige Anordnung und Struktur der Panels aufgefallen, die manchmal sogar ganz rahmenlos waren. Das hat mir tatsächlich sehr gut gefallen und direkt gefesselt – ebenso wie die mehreren Erzähldimensionen, die durch verschiedene Sprech-/Gedankenblasen dargestellt wurden. Vor allem die Informationen, die ich von dem Protagonisten (aus der Zukunft) bekommen habe, ohne dass das Jetzt der Geschichte das schon wissen konnte, waren sehr cool dabei.
Inhaltlich hat mir »A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special« (was ein langer, umständlicher Name, haha) ebenfalls gut gefallen. Den Stern Abzug gebe ich wegen dem wirklich sehr plötzlichen Anfang, bei dem ich mich die ersten Szenen und viele Seiten lang wirklich sehr verloren gefühlt habe. Dann ging es allerdings richtig los und die eigentliche Handlung hat mehr als überzeugt. Eh, es ist okay. Die Zeichnungen sind okay, die Charaktere sind okay, die Story ist okay. Nichts sticht als besonders Außergewöhnlich hervor, besonders schlecht ist es auch nicht. Es ist eben eine der typischen, modernen Isekai-Geschichten, die sich stark auf das Leveln innerhalb eines Magie- und Kampfsystems konzentrieren, und wo der Hauptcharakter so übermächtig und allwissend ist, dass er als Powerfantasy für den Leser dient. Immerhin bekommt er ein paar Alibi-Steine in den Weg gelegt, weil er einer niedrigeren Klasse angehört, aber ich vermute das wird sich in späteren Bänden auch erledigen.
Wie gesagt: Es ist okay. Ich mag nur langweilige, übermächtige Protagonisten nicht und auch nicht, wenn sich die Dialoge wie ein Gaming-Tutorial oder ein D&D-Charakterblatt lesen.

Казалось бы, полностью моя история: магия, школа, таинственная подоплёка, суперспособность! Но почему-то нифига не понятно, как это гг вернулся в свой мир (?) в прошлое? Это его старая жизнь заново? Это его новая жизнь, но он помнит, что делать? Закончился первый том вообще неинтересно, не хочется сразу бежать за вторым. И это очень грустно 😔

Dropped today, read today. I really enjoy the “going back in time” storyline, so this worked for me. Also in full color and it was really beautiful. I am looking forward to reading the next one when it is out.

Any type of story where someone goes back in time or goes to a different world to start over is fascinating to me. Desir seems like a very wholesome and strong character that will work for the good of all. I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes.

The premise of the story and the cover and the shadow realms reminded me of me and my husband's favorite manhwa (Solo Leveling) and so of course I gave it a chance.
The MC (Desir Herrman, cool name, no?) is the kind of hero I enjoy reading about. Calm, collected, level headed... the type.
The fact that it's a going back in time trope is what had me slightly worried because I don't usually enjoy repeats. Anyone reminded of Re:Zero? Anyway.... this felt nothing like that because...
A. the protagonist has lived those years, yes. But the reader hasn't been subjected to it. It's a flashback form of narrative for us and that's better than retakes.
B. the protagonist doesn't keep making a bunch of errors. that gets old real fast. everyone enjoys an underdog, yes. but after HunterXHunter, I like strong warriors, not just kids that keep practicing to level up y know.
I'm a Rhysand & Xander girlie. We like our MCs leveled up when we meet them. So.
This was a good read because it had all that and I'm enjoying the secondary characters and the academy setup with that annoying class divide BS. Can't wait to see some more practice duels and stuff before the real deal.

LE DOY 4 ESTRELLAS PORQUE EL SISTEMA MAGICO ES GENIAL, TIENE BUENOS PERSONAJES Y LA DESCRIPCIÓN DEL MUNDO ES MUY ATRACTIVA
Aunque no soy exactamente un fanático de las novelas coreanas (solo he leído dos en mi vida)
Tengo que admitir que "LA MAGIA DE UN RETORNADO DEBE SER ESPECIAL" (A Returner's Magic Should Be Special) me ha gustado.
La trama es algo típica de decenas de novelas de esta parte del mundo, un tipo que regresa en el tiempo y decide cambiar la historia. Si saben algo de novelas coreanas sabrán que esta temática en su literatura es muy común, pero que a la vez abre posibilidades bastante interesantes.
Existen varios ejemplos de esto, como por ejemplo el querer regresar en el tiempo para vengarte, para hacerte mas poderoso, para cambiar el destino del mundo, para ayudar a tus seres queridos, etc. etc. Pero lo que tenemos aquí es la historia de un hombre que logra salvar al mundo. Pero a expensas de todo y todos a los que ama. Por lo cual decide tomar un nuevo camino cuando se le presenta la oportunidad de enmendar sus errores. El protagonista deberá empezar su guerra desde cero, pero esta vez con el conocimiento pasado de lo que se avecina y la convicción de no repetir sus antiguos errores.
Por supuesto las cosas no son tan fáciles. En especial porque descubre que su conocimiento de la guerra no es tan exacto como él creía. Y el hecho de que querer cambiar el pasado no es suficiente para alterar su curso de manera significativa.
Pero para mi, lo que es realmente atractivo de esta trama en particular, es la forma en la que aborda la magia y sus diversos mecanismos al momento de ser utilizada. El sistema mágico de esta novela es más complejo de lo que parece al inicio. Mostrándonos a la magia como una especie de "sistema de calculo" que cada usuario puede ejecutar a distintos niveles, en base a su capacidad innata para controlar el mana, y el conocimiento que posea sobre las artes mágicas en particular (como por ejemplo fuego, hielo, rayo, etc...). Al mismo tiempo en este mundo vemos que existen artefactos mágicos, que otorgan distintas capacidades o ejecutan distintas tareas de acuerdo a como hayan sido programados. Lo cual, unido a lo anteriormente mencionado, convierte a los duelos mágicos en actos complejos e intrincados que hacen de la historia bastante interesante.
Lo que quiero decir es que no es la típica novela en la que los poderes son desatados así porque si. Sino que existe todo un trasfondo complejo y dinámico tras la utilización de los poderes sobrenaturales. En muchos sentidos, los enfrentamientos son básicamente duelos de estrategia e ingenio. Sin mencionar que las guerras, intrigas y diversas tramas de los personajes hacen de la historia no solo interesante, sino también emocionante.
En especial a los villanos y sus diversas motivaciones y personalidades me encantaron. Los tres principales ejemplifican los deseos de Revolución, Guerra y Conquista por separado. Y su capacidad para generar caos y expandir el conflicto en el mundo están íntimamente ligados a sus motivaciones personales y el deseo que tienen de cambiar el destino del mundo. Pero aunque estos villanos "colaboran" unos con otros, la verdad es que su visión es muy diferente. Lo cual hace que uno se identifique particularmente con uno u otro dependiendo de la clase de persona sea.
No mentiré, esta novela no es para todos. En cierta forma es una especie de Fantasía Progresiva, en la que vemos a los protagonistas irse haciendo más y más fuertes conforme avanza la historia. Pero la novela esta muy bien escrita, y a diferencia de la mayoría de obras que comparten esta temática no te aburres ni un segundo al leerla.
La recomiendo mucho.

150.000.000 millones de personas fueron mandados a salvar el Mundo... pero solamente 10 lograron sobrevivir. Desir Arman fue uno de estos héroes, el mas débil de todos. Pero al final, después de incontables lagrimas y sangre, y estando cerca de alcanzar la victoria... nada termina como debería. Pero por razones desconocidas, Desir es mandado 13 años al pasado. Y se le da la oportunidad de evitar la guerra y el colapso de la humanidad. Pero aunque él tenga un conocimiento único del futuro. Descubrirá que cambiarlo no es tarea fácil. En especial cuando existen poderosas facciones y secretos del pasado que se interponen en su camino

Я понимаю, что изначально это был вебтун, но для печатного издания фоны могли бы и доработать. Тут они зачастую просто разных цветов и все. О не-прорисовке травы и неба можно даже и не говорить.
Выглядит все очень пусто.
Дизайн персонажей совершенно не понравился: ни их лица, ни их эмоции, ни их аутфиты. А причёски тут вообще отдельная тема.
Стиль художника какой-то устаревший что ли.
Задумка в истории интересная, но пока все выглядит топорно. Теневые Миры, которые представляют собой прошлое их мира? Как такой парадокс разрешается? Или это просто копии прошлого? ГГ получается сам сейчас попал в Теневой Мир?
Короче, это скорее черновик, а не готовый продукт. Или это типа пилот, над которым не старались, а дальше будет лучше?
Читать продолжение вряд ли буду.
P. S. Я не эксперт в манхве, но почему в гаремах текста намного больше, чем в фэнтези? Казалось бы, должно быть наоборот...

Досить затягуюче. :)
У першу чергу - моя повага українському видавницству. :) Книга просто шикарна з усіх сторін і, безумовно, всередині. Оформлення чудове, папір ідеальний, навіть запах такий, який хочеться нюхати, хех. Стосовно твору - поки що не знайшов у ньому чогось глибокого, але слідкувати за героєм, його друзями та їх пригодами цікаво та легко. Типове "аніме" про магічно-фентезійний світ, що тут скажеш. Але тема з попаданцем-військовим (спецпризначенцем), який потрапляє до навчального закладу на самий початок свого професійного становлення, додає своєрідної перчинки. Сподіваюсь, що з розвитком сюжету ГГ буде частіше проявляти свою дорослість та досвідченість і дійсно змінить історію світу, а не тільки долі окремих персонажів.
Не вистачило якоїсь дорослості, серйозності та виваженост зі сторони ГГ. Шкода, що місцеві аномалії, в яких і задіюються магічні спеціалісти, якісь класично-драконівсько-фентезійні, без родзинки. Принаймні покищо, в подіях цієї книги.

Mit dem Auftaktband dieser neuen Reihe wurden meine Erwartungen an altraverse mal wieder absolut erfüllt! Fesselnde Kämpfe, ein interessantes Magiesystem und eine spannende Welt werden auf knapp 300 Seiten komplett in Farbe (!) wunderbar spannend, aber auch humorvoll erzählt. Desir ist ein echt cooler Protagonist, der manchmal ein bisschen nach dem Motto "Stumpf ist Trumpf" agiert und sich durch Rückschläge nicht entmutigen lässt. Er ist magisch deutlich weniger begabt, als Menschen höherer Magieklassen, hat jedoch eigene Stärken, die ihm (nicht nur) im Kampf eindeutige Vorteile bieten. Von seinen Mitschülern wird er deswegen zunächst nicht unbedingt ernst genommen - bis sie nach und nach seine Fähigkeiten miterleben und Desirs Potential erkennen.
Ich denke, dass wir gemeinsam mit ihm und seinen Kameraden, von denen wir einige auch schon im ersten Band treffen, noch auf eine spannende Reise hoffen dürfen. Was hinter den Schattenlabyrinthen steckt macht mich neugierig! 4,5 🌟

Зірок не хапає і чимось нагадує “Тільки я візьму новий рівень”, але без інтерфейсу гравця і з гіршим малюнком. Є світ, який треба рятувати, є портали у альтернативні реальності (світ тіней). Головний твіст в тому, що герой вже встиг врятувати світ від світу тіней, але у фіналі все пішло по відомому органу. Герой неочікувано повертається на тринадцять років назад у минуле і розуміє, що йому дали другий шанс врятувати світ інакше. Наприклад, змінивши долю тих персонажів, які загинули під час попереднього рятування світу. Ісєкай з таймтревелом.
Все дуже стандартно, вторинно майже у всіх аспектах і поки що без якоїсь додаткової інтриги. Вкотре сподіваюся на 2-й том.
Українська локалізація. Читається швидко, що вже добре. Є проблеми з версткою: для кількох бабблів забули увімкнути фонову білу заливку.

May 13, 2024It’s ok, pretty standard trope of returning to the past to prevent the disaster. The school he attends has an insane snobbiness against commoners, ensuring that no matter how talented, they get a shitty education. The MC is one such talented commoner, and perhaps with a better education he could have prevented much of the tragic losses of the future. It’s pretty stupid to maintain the class divide like this.
I’m not sure why so many people died in the original timeline. I guess the shadow realms are more all-encompassing than I thought? I was confused as to why the 6 remaining heroes were only half introduced. The men in the group were all given an intro bubble, but the women didn’t seem to get the same…additionally, the sword mage girl…she didn’t even know the people in her own group…
I do not love the art style. A few outfits were laughable, and I don’t like his eyes, particularly when shown up close. They are creepy and dead looking.

Un shonen a todo color envuelto en magia, errores del pasado, amistades, rivalidades y lucha de clases.
El primer tomo os fascinará, me devolvió un poco a la infancia con el tema de cómo usan su magia. Pensé que me gustaría menos, no le tenía tantas expectativas y la verdad es que ha sido toda una sorpresa.

Seguí esta historia desde sus primeros dias de publicacion y me atrapo el concepto del worldbuilding y el manejo de los personajes, aunque siento que decayó el storytelling en la última parte, como conjunto puedo decir que estoy satisfecho con el final y la historia.

So I have read about 70 chapters of the manhwa (not as a Kindle edition) and I can honestly say the "first season" is fantastic and it went fast. Absolute delightful adventure.

Neben dieser Welt existiert das Schattenlabyrinth. Es bringt Chaos und Untergang mit sich. Unzählige Menschen hat es schon verschlungen. Eine Gruppe von Helden besiegt im Labyrinth einen Drachen und dann geschieht etwas unglaubliches: Desir Arman befindet sich wieder an Magie-Akademie. Zurück in der Vergangenheit versucht er den Untergang der Welt zu verhindern. Wird ihm das gelingen?
Ja, ja ich weiß, dass klingt nach 0-8-15. Aber weit gefehlt! Anfangs war ich sehr skeptisch. Im ersten Kapitel werden wir direkt ins Geschehen geworfen: Der Kampf gegen den Drachen im Schattenlabyrinth.
Neugierig kam ich in den nächsten Abschnitt: Desir Arman wurde wiedergeboren? Ähm? Was passiert hier gerade? Dann war ich komplett dabei.
An der Akademie lernen wir die Charaktere mehr kennen. Hier gibt es ein System aus Alpha- und Beta-Klassen. In die erste Klasse kommen die wohlhabenden, reichen und gut gebildeten Schüler. Beta? Ungebildete, einfach Bürger. Mit der Aussage: „Die können doch eh nichts.“, werden sie abschätzig angesehen.
Die können nichts? Desir Arman, Teil der Beta-Klasse, will es ihnen allen zeigen! Er nimmt sich ein Ziel vor, was bisher noch kein normaler Bürger geschafft hat. Mit einer Strategie und Hilfe von seiner Professorin geht er es an. Er gründet eine Gruppe. Ja, das klingt leicht. Aber glaubt mir, wie diese Gruppe zusammen kommt ist jedes einzelne gelesene Wort wer. Grandios. Ich hab mich so prächtig amüsiert. Die Charaktere konnten mich voll überzeugen.
Die Ansicht unseres Protagonisten macht mir total Mut. Dahinter steckt, was wir alle mehr brauchen können: „Du kannst alles schaffen!“ Geht nicht? Zu hohe Ziele? Mal ehrlich: Wie oft hören wir so etwas in unserem Leben? Ich kenne es selbst: Man hat mir gesagt, dass ich Medizin studieren nicht schaffen würde. Und? In wenigen Monaten werde ich Ärztin sein!
Ich liebe diesen Webtoon. Diesen Vibe konnte ich richtig fühlen: Setze dir deine Ziele hoch und du kannst alles erreichen.
Aber, in mir wohnt definitiv ein Fantasy Girl. Den Flair beim Lesen konnte ich ebenso richtig aufsaugen. Die einzelnen Szenen, wie sich Desir Arman für die Akademie qualifiziert hat waren genial. Hier hatte ich ein richtiges Gaming-Feeling. Ich rannte mit ihm um die Wette. Wow.
Der Band ist komplett in Farbe. Das Cover hat eine silberne Veredelung. Die Papierqualität ist großartig.

Je viens de lire celui-ci et... Pas ouf 😅 je m'attendais à autre chose. Même si l'idée de revenir une dizaine d'années en arrière, avec tous ses souvenirs était intéressante, je trouve ce tome 1 trop introductif... Je ne lirais pas la suite 😅
